Welcome to the Purple Parrot where dollars decorate the walls, roof and rafters! Key West inspired bar just off the Rehoboth Beach. Plenty of tables, high tops and bar seating. Rock music mixed with happy conversations flow freely throughout the place making it an instant vibe. Wings on point. Juicy and flavorful and only a buck each on special. The cheese steak was a gamble. Being from Philly we know cheese steaks. Not bad for outside Philly steak, but the roll wasn't up for the challenge and the traditional cooper sharp is subbed out for cheddar and just doesn't offer the same cheese steak experience. The Cuban was quite tasty with juicy mojo pork and just the right ratios of pickle/mustard. Could have used a bit more cheese and like the steak. The roll was too soft. Properly pressed this sandwich would be great. Our service was acceptable and much as expected for a beach bar. No tax always a plus for DE - especially since VA charges a whopping 13.5%! The Parrot is perched among a row of delightful beach shops along Rehoboth Ave and well worth a stop when in town. A solid four stars with room to grow! read more

Went here for the first time during off season and was glad I did. We sat at the bar with a bunch of friends and had drinks and food. The bar is a funky little place with dollar bills all over the place. It is a bar so you definitely get the bar vibe with music and lots of fun people. We ordered food and for the most part it was excellent. The burgers were huge and tasty, the fries were to die for, the fried pickles were very good as well as the chicken fingers but the cheese sticks were a bit overcooked and not to my liking. The service was excellent, even though it was the bartender who was busy as heck it did a fabulous job and was extremely friendly. It is a really fun place to go with friends and order some good food. I will be back! read more

Came here with a group of family and friends Monday night for some drinks.. bartender was incredibly rude to us. His ego was clearly bigger than my future. We ordered green tea shots and you would have thought we asked him to amputate his left arm.... Also it's very clear the two security guards that worked the front door this past Monday are on crack... fire them all. read more

Do not come here expecting a restaurant dining experience. It is a very loud, very drunk beach bar that just so happens to have a menu. It's chaotic and disorganized- we had to wander around and ask three different waiters for help before we got seated. Most people here are not eating food- they're socializing, and drinking heavily, and yelling like rowdy teens. If that's your scene then great but this is not the place for you if you just want to sit and eat a meal. 3 stars because the food wasn't bad. read more

The food was fine, but the music was blasting to the point where you couldn't hear anyone around you. And everyone had to scream to talk to eachother. Servers don't have good observation skills and reach over your head to hand plates or bills. I'd only go here if you're a man in your 40's looking to drink at a bar with your buddies. read more

First off, I enjoyed my time in Rehoboth Beach. The community is friendly and diverse. Now, for the Purple Parrot. It's a casual restaurant with a friendly and diverse staff and clientele. I ordered the Hangover burger and my partner ordered the cheesesteak. Both were incredible! Now I love a good burger and I have enjoyed many, but this burger took the cake. I believe it was handmade and grilled to my satisfaction. I asked for medium well and it was delicious. Tender. Juicy. Hardy. I don't recall if this particular burger comes with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions but I made sure to ask for it, and when it all came together... It was sublime. Chef's kiss. Also, the cheesesteak was a knock out. Very well made. Seasoned but not over seasoned. Greasy (as a good cheesesteak should be) but not overly greasy. The bread on both my burger and the cheesesteak was fresh and toasted accordingly. I mean if there was ever a standard for a burger or cheese stake, the Purple Parrot sets the bar. I would definitely return and I would recommend. I also enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We were warmly greeted and overall, felt comfortable enough to actually relax and enjoy our food and conversation without being rushed or constantly interrupted by over-attentive servers. I visited Purple Parrot Grill on a Sunday evening minutes before 7pm with my two daughters--one is 10, the other a teenager. It was July 4th weekend, so I anticipated there might be a wait, but I was excited to try the place because of their menu variety. Upon entering, I was approached by a hostess. I simply said "3," indicating our party size. Her immediate response was a blunt "no." Confused, I asked, "No, as in...?" She replied, "We're full." I then asked, "Okay, so you're not seating anyone for the rest of the night?" Again, she said, "No." Trying to understand, I said, "Don't you close at 1am?" She confirmed they did, but then added, "We don't seat kids after 9pm." I pointed out that it was only 7pm and asked if she meant they wouldn't have any seating available for the next two hours. She simply repeated, "No." What bothered me most was the cold and dismissive tone, and how I had to pull every piece of information out of her. From the start, there was no clear explanation, no courtesy, no effort to communicate what the actual policy or issue was. I left angry and disappointed. I ended up just going back to my hotel and having dinner there at Sirocco which was delicious with great service. If there are special procedures or policies about seating children after a certain time that's completely understandable--but it needs to be clearly communicated, and above all, delivered with some basic respect and professionalism. This was not the warm, welcoming experience I had hoped for, and unfortunately, it left a really bad impression. read more

I took a trip here with my partner. There was a staffing issue in the beginning, but the waitresses were very accommodating and went above and beyond to correct the issue. The drinks were pretty good, and not watered down, which I can definitely appreciate. We ordered nachos, which were very bland. We didn't even finish them. But the salad was actually really good. Like surprisingly good. The chicken has a nice char to it. It was well seasoned and Smokey. Can't complain at all about that. The atmosphere was also unique with dollar bills all along the ceilings and wall that has been autographed by customers. I think if they upgraded the quality of some of the entrees, this place would be a real hit. But it's still a decent experience. And not overly expensive. read more

Let's start by saying, from what I remember... I stopped by the Purple Parrot for drinks with my sister-in-laws, & we had quite the time! Our bartender, Connor, definitely has the patience of a saint because I'm sure he was ready to be done before we were finished. But he hung in there, thanks for putting up with it all. Hope the fat tip made it worth it! We enjoyed several drinks & shots together, & my in-laws grabbed some food earlier in the visit. As someone who generally loves Mexican food and a great vibe I was excited to stumble upon the Purple Parrot. I really liked the place, very chill but fun and an easy place to get comfortable with my buddy. Every time we are at the beach, my wife and I eat here. The ambience is that of a tiki bar and very clean! It is LGBTQ AND straight friendly. Everyone can feel at home here. Loved this bar! The signed dollars on the walls are so cool! Interesting to see where people are from and who signed it and when they were there. Food was amazing. We have shrimp tacos and a quesadilla with alcoholic drinks from the bar. The server was attentive and seemed to really love his job. The windows were open so you can smell the food outside which I think brought more guests in because it smelled so good. Just a fun vibe and cool place to hang out for drinks or food. The Parrot is a very chill, friendly bar and restaurant right off the beach. There is a huge outdoor space with its own bar, which is a very fun place to have a drink and meet people. If you're looking for food, you can head inside where the vibe is dive bar from the 90s. The food also is surprisingly good, especially the quesadillas. Highly recommend checking this place out for a nice daytime cocktail - especially the crushes. read more

Not to judge a book by one's cover, but we didn't have the highest of expectations coming here - mainly related to the service speed and attention, but we were definitely wrong. It gets crowded, but that didn't impact our experience at all. Our server was attentive and happily repeated any happy hour deals to us (there were a lot, so we needed a reminder). We got the fish and chips and the triple stack Reuben. The fish and chips was good, met expectations, but the triple stack Reuben far exceeded mine - this was DELICIOUS. Best pastrami I've ever had, and while I usually bring home leftovers, there was no way I was leaving without cleaning my plate. Drink wise, they have specials and a decent selection of drafts. Cocktails seem to run at about $13, but you can get a good price on light beers, wine, and house margaritas during happy hour. Good spot! read more

Dipped in for a quick shareable bite. Sat on the bar side, at "the best seat in the house" .. arguable.. bartender stopped over soon after we got our menus. We started just with water, and he gave us a few. We soon ordered drinks and food. We both went with a "crush" mine was blood orange, and my lovely gf ordered an orange creamsicle crush. Both drinks were tasty. Mine gave me more of a regular orange crush, then a more tart blood orange taste. Good nonetheless, I finished it! We ordered the chicken quesadilla, sharing, and it was delicious! Very good flavor, and the sides (sour cream, guac, and salsa) was super fresh!! We finished up pretty quickly, and sat there with empty glasses. Outside of our bartender walking past us to do something else, and another staff member just walking by, no one else checked on us, or even asked if we'd like a refill. We soon flagged down a random employee to ask for our check. She then informed the bartender, who soon brought it over. We stopped here for lunch after a few hours on the beach. You can't miss this restaurant, it is painted purple on the outside and the inside walls are covered in dollar bills. It is located right on the Main Street of Rehoboth, so it is easy to walk to from the beach. I got the fish and chips which were pretty good. The fish I wanted to be more crispy, but I really liked the coleslaw. The service was a little slow but it is a beach restaurant. Went here during the long weekend after one of my friends raved about their fish tacos. We went at a pretty busy time (~6 pm on a sunday) and was seated relatively quickly. It may have been bc it was a table for 2. It was pretty busy inside with some cool decor (1 dollar bills EVERYWHERE) I think it turns into a bar at night so when we sat down I felt like the tables were a little sticky. I wouldnt expect fine dinning but a good wipe down was probably needed. After a long day out in the sun we wanted some ice waters desperately and it maybe just us but it felt like a while until the waiter came around and got us waters. Once they arrived the water HIT. It was delicious. We got fried pickles which were crunchy but I felt like there was maybe too much batter? It got stuck in my teeth but it was still tasty. I got the fish sandwich which I should've taken a picture but got too excited I burned my tongue! The fish was super crispy, fresh and it was huge! It was probably double the size of the bun. It came with a side which you could choose from and I got the sweet potato fries and they could've been cooked longer. I feel like I should've gone the safe route with normal fries but who am I denying sweet potato fries. Some of them came out a little soggy but the fish sandwich made up for it.
