This one took us by surprise. The beers ended up being some of the better beers we had that trip, the atmosphere was fun, and the staff was super friendly. Most of the beers we had elsewhere felt pretty one note while the hazy we had here had some depth to it. They were pretty generous with their samples, and we had some lengthy conversation with both the bartenders and regulars. The bar is the main spot we were at, which had some fun art and lighting, which is always a bonus. There are tones of bottles to buy too if that's more of your interest. Overall a fun little spot to grab a drink

Great food, good ambiance & slightly confusing but super friendly service. There's a register for purchasing alcohol to go and then a register for being at the bar. For food, we ordered at the bar & paid, but someone did bring it out to us and was refilling our water - so it at first didn't seem like we'd have a server (it's small enough it doesn't matter much tbh) but the staff was still very attentive. Not sure how it goes outside but I'd absolutely go to the bar again for dinner. I recently got takeout from here and it was such a nice set up, ordered my burger and perused the beverages, but the staff put in my food order while I browsed, making it one seamless transaction AND my food wasn't delayed by my wine browsing.

Such a great burger and such great value! We love when you can get a burger AND fries!! Staff knows their stuff and the beer selection is great! Pop in for a 6 pack or sit and have a pint at the bar.

Beer is delicious, the number of option is overwhelming. You can buy singles or create a 6 pack. I enjoyed sitting up stairs where it's a bit brighter and cooler.

Wow. Okay this place is so underrated. I've only ever been in for beer (which you can purchase by the case). But I finally got to try their food and WOW. it's a traditional bar food menu, so nothing too fancy. But it's all cooked so well and not over fried or too greasy. Well seasoned. Amazing sauces. And the portions are massive. The place is a little grungy, but I like that vibe. And the service was great. I'll absolutely be returning.

A brilliant concept, which fuses a few everyday spots into one unique experience. The liquor store, the convenience store, the sports bar. Selection on alcohol and NA options is top notch. They've got Dewey smoothies. Never a bad beer from them. Also some unique sake I'm excited to give a try. I'll definitely be back - if not for the good selection, for the vibes. Service was more of a sport bar style - don't expect a quick convenience store checkout.

Tons of options in this bottle shop! Any drink from the store, you can drink at the bar or on the patio of the shop. Didn't try the food, but enjoyed the interior and watching the game on the TV while enjoying a tasty cider. Even some take away meats, cheeses and items if you're on the go to a picnic!

A funky spot like this one will surely brighten up your weekend. Came here on a Sunday with a friend to catch up. We arrived around 1:30 and we were seated immediately. Our waiter came over to ask what we wanted to drink. I was in the mood for a cider. The waiter said he only had a ginger cider on draft but that I was more than welcome to walk over to the beer coolers and grab one that I liked. I ended up just getting a water. It wasn't busy at all on this particular day, but I will say the service here is really quick. Before we knew it, he was back to take our order. I got the cauliflower wings appetizer as my meal. They were smothered in BBQ sauce and they were delicious! They smelled like actual wings. The cauliflower was fried. It was simply amazing. That's all you need to know. My friend got the Cheesus Christ grilled cheese and it looked like a sandwich you'd see in a commercial. The bread had the perfect complexion, if you will. She added tomato for $1 extra and bacon for $2 extra. On Sunday, you can get any grilled cheese sandwich for half price. Can't complain about the food or service. Everything was marvelous, all the way down to the cleanliness of the establishment and how friendly the employees were. Would recommend!

Best of both worlds. Come here to pick up drinks for your party from their huge (HUGE) variety. Or keep walking back to the bar and stay out to have some drinks. There's not a too much seating at the bar area and the whole place is pretty narrow and long so not for large parties but still worth stopping by of your bar hopping through the Fishtown area. Definitely worth stopping by for their clean bathrooms. Probably the best in the area honestly! So plan your night around that haha.

I love this bar but the food sucks, here's an order of buffalo with a side of cauliflower bites, it was not even edible.

The service is the worse at this place. The guy behind the register with the long hair has the biggest attitude.

With the help of Yelp, we found this place. First off, the building that houses National Mechanics is absolutely beautiful inside and out, and for good reason. The pub/restaurant occupies the old Mechanics National Bank, a majestic Greek Revival building, built in 1836. Inside the restaurant, the surroundings contrasted greatly with the outside. The large, primarily wooden interior has the feel of a vintage pub. It is equally as beautiful as the front. The service at National Mechanics was great. Though the staff was clearly running shorthanded, every employee we came into contact with served us with a smile and couldn't be friendlier. The food, at least on that day, was mediocre at best, unfortunately. While the menu was filled with all sorts of tempting dishes that already made us thinking of future visits, we opted for the Mexican Burger and the Ribeye Cheesesteak, two twists on old pub standbys. Sadly, we were both disappointed in our meals. We did start off on a bright spot, food-wise. My friend and I opted to share the Batter-Fried Pickled Green Beans, which were fabulous! Too bad the good food ended there... The description of the Mexican Burger sounded amazing, with avocado, pico de gallo, pickled jalapeños, Monterrey Jack cheese, and chipotle mayo. My friend said it was kind of bland and it was quite greasy. My ribeye cheesesteak did not match well with its "Amoroso" roll and the steak itself was dry. In the end, we were both disappointed in our choice in a lunch spot. Perhaps it was the large crowd of diners and little staff that made it all come out a little...off. In the end, I'd try National Mechanics again if I were in the area, as the atmosphere and service made it a cool spot to dine in. Hopefully the food will be better next time.
