Stopped here for lunch yesterday (a Saturday). We were the only ones dining at the time which was fine with us. They are only doing outside seating right now and it was a beautiful day so it was perfect! I got the bacon blue burger (they use real blue cheese chunks, not dressing) and my friend got the flat iron burger. Mine was really really good and my friend said it was one of the best burgers he has ever had. They come with fries which are very good too! What a great lunch!

This is such a cool spot in Port Richmond! I ordered takeout during COVID, but went to pick it up at the restaurant. The inside of the restaurant immediately just gives you a homey-neighborhood vibe (and not the vibe where you feel like you have to be a local to eat there.) Nice bar seating, TVs, and random assortments of like antique figurines - just a cool/laid-back/old school feel. The service was friendly and helpful. Their menu is somewhat limiting (I always have this perspective since my wife is a vegetarian,) but they are good at what they are known for...burgers and pierogies. I wanted to try something different, so I had their "Lee Highway to Hell" Burger (homage to lehigh ave.) because I was really intrigued that the bun was swapped for Stocks pound cake (shout out to Stocks.) The flavor for this burger was phenomenal - a big mix of sweet and savory. It comes topped with strips of bacon and coated with cheddar cheese, and a syrup to drip it all in. The only downside to this burger is that it is really hard to eat - it was a mess, but that didn't take away from my overall experience. My wife got their grilled cheese, which may not seem like much, but they killed this! Thick bread, cooked all the way through, and we got it with a side of their spicy fry sauce - slammin (this sauce competes with any spicy/tangy/aioli dipping sauce I've ever had. Their pierogies were really good too - we got the cheddar jalapeno. The peppers were not too hot, so very manageable for anyone who is scared of spice, but these were just hard to eat as well. With the peppers on top...I almost wish the pierogies were made with the peppers inside the mix to get an even jalapeno flavor throughout. If you are looking to a solid, affordable meal for the weekend or just picking something up last minute during the week - you can't go wrong here. **Cash Only**

The Green Rock is a great little neighborhood tavern on the Fishtown/Port Richmond border. The room is fairly small with a nice bar and tables on the sides and back. The space is very clean and gets some good natural light. It is not pretentious in any way. They have juke box playing a good variety of music. They serve all local beers from the Philadelphia Brewing Co. My friend is a regular and I went with his draft choice,Kenzinger which is a nice pilsner style. I ordered a hamburger and fries. The Green Rock, as other Yelpers have reported serves an excellent burger. I had the basic burger with cheddar cheese and onion, lettuce and tomato. The burger was well seasoned, juicy and the bun was also fresh and very good. The fries were also excellent, especially for a traditional fries. Sadly French fries are my Achilles heel and I almost ordered a second basket which I could have eaten easily. The Green Rock Tavern has a pretty cool American/Polish bar food menu. My friend had the Pierogis and they looked awesome. I will be back to try some other beers and food from the Green Rock. Parking was pretty easy also on the street.

So I actually found this little wonder on Yelp. We went in. The bartender was extremely knowledgeable about the beer they had especially on tap. We had the special and that was a roast beef sandwich which was piled high and super delicious. I'm mad we had burgers earlier because all the reviews said there burgers were amazing!! I will be back don't you worry. We also had pierogies which are the best ones I ever had!!! Chunks of potatoes in them, crumbled bacon on top. I could have eaten them all night. I can't wait to go back so o can try different kinds!! This place is a hidden gem, and my new go to place. They only take cash but there's a ATM inside.

In these weird times we're in GR is doing right and best they can, adapting and whatnot. I don't these guys personally but what I can say is the two other options in a walking distance are a crap show- they have coffee now which is cool and cause PGW got me up at the butt crack of dawn I woke for a nice light breakfast- I wouldn't normally write a review but the homemade yogurt and simplistic peanut butter and jelly bagel with a coffee hit the spot, and also eat local be happy!

~Just moved to the area & was referred by a friend to try a burger from this establishment. First impressions were good, very friendly staff, nice layout (although the décor could use a little updating/dusting) Ordered the bacon bleu burger for 12.50$, very good quality & cooked to perfection. It came with a side of hand cut fries, & secret spicy sauce which was el fuego in a bueno way. Would recommend to the owner of the Green Rock Tavern to add a printed menu brochure, & phone # for preordering to increase sales The Don approves of this establishment & has been back~

Green Rock Tavern is a great bar full of locals (FYI - cash only) and fantastic pierogis. They have an annual pierogi week that usually runs around February-March. For $13 you get a polish beer and a plate of pierogis. They get really creative with their menu, and it's always been a hit. This year we had Reuben pierogis and the Thanksgiving dinner. Highly recommend a visit!

Just stopped in for a drink to check-it-out. Very nice place: good beer selection, not too noisy, friendly bartender and good vibe. Sampled some pierogis and poutine fries: excellent. Will be back soon.

First of all, the bar was spotless ( and have become quite picky in my older age)lol. So cleanliness is close to godliness! Then there's the awesome, cool , funny and attractive staff. AlWays ready to make you smile while pouring you anything you can dream up. One of the 2 best things about this bar are the owners are there most of the time.... and you wouldn't even know it... they just chill and hangout and make sure shit gets done correct. It was like walking into cheers but better. They make everyone feel like family. No wonder why it's the most popular bar in the neighborhood. Omg..... I forgot abou the food!!! This is GOOF FOOD. And not just go bar food but straight up good food. I give it a huge

This is a great neighborhood bar & my best recent find (courtesy of http://phillymag.com/foobooz/2018/11/27/best-pierogies-philadelphia). 1st visited last week for the 1/2-price-on-Tue pierogi hoagie, which we quite enjoyed with good French fries. Given that Pierogi Week is ongoing, we returned yesterday for several pierogi plates, all of which we enjoyed, especially the Reuben pierogi plate. Nicole & bonnie were welcoming & attentive, serving a nice selection of beer on tap. Patronizing Green Rock was well both the 1:30-round-trips. I only wish it was located in my neighborhood. http://facebook.com/GreenRockPierogi

I learned later that this restaurant has been around since the early to mid 1900's. Plenty of parking in a large open lot. The place is very large and has one of the longest bars I've seen. The wood is very dark and you can see the chefs cooking over the hearth. They don't take reservations and won't see you until your entire party is there. One of the things I liked for our party of 10 was they had no problems with seating as they also have many large round tables. For mixed drinks, they make them pretty big and potent. For my martini, they sent back an extra glass. They also had great bleu cheese stuffed olives. We ordered onion rings (8 large to an order) and fried zucchini. The onion ring I had was pretty good. I didn't have the fried zucchini but heard it was also pretty good. Other than the light fare items, all dinners come with their salad bar which has both iceberg lettuce and Caesar Salad along with many fixings as well as cheeses and bread. I had the Baked Seafood Platter which came with scallops, shrimp, Clam Casino (without the shell), Maryland crab cake and a small lobster tail for $49.99. My wife had the baked chicken breast which she said was quite dry. The dining area is quite large and reminds me of the restaurants at a casino. Some in our group said it reminds them of Medieval Times due to the dark wood vibe. While I thought it was a bit pricey, I would still come back and try their signature steaks or prime rib.

The salad bar is classic: Caesar salad, iceberg, blue cheese, bacon bits, etc. Meet family here for a fancy night out, and it was a blast. Service was good. Also, they won't stay you until the entire party is there. We waited at the bar for everyone to arrive, where one cocktail was more than enough for me. You definitely get your money's worth, and you should not drive afterward. (I did not.)

The first thing I did was head straight for my favorite, Cantillon from Belgium. This visit, I tried their Kriek LG, a fruited lambic made by adding sour cherries to a two-year-old aged lambic. All I can say is... WOW! Tart, complex, refreshing, and dangerously drinkable. If beer could win an Academy Award, this one would be giving an acceptance speech. Now, let's talk food. I ordered the Thai Curry Mussels, and they were absolutely outstanding. The broth was packed with flavor, and the mussels were cooked perfectly. They easily rank in the top five mussel dishes I've ever had, and I've done my research! Pro tip: Don't make the rookie mistake of eating all the bread first. Save some for the end so you can soak up every last drop of that incredible curry broth at the bottom of the bowl. Trust me, you'll thank me later. The service is always excellent. John usually takes care of us in the back, and he consistently makes the experience even better with great recommendations and friendly service. In side is cozy and friendly! If you live in Philly and haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for? Great beer, amazing food, and outstanding service--this place checks every box. Just be warned: one visit and you'll be planning your next trip back before you even leave.

And it was walking distance from my hotel. Indeed their beer selection was impressive and carried Belgian Tripels, ales and IPAs and the elusive Pliney the Elder on tap at $8.50 a pint. I also learned their food menu boasts some well known choices. However, on this lunch visit the grill was out of service; no burgers, steaks, etc. I pivoted to their popular steamed mussels. A sizable pot of plump mussels in their black shells swimming in their liquor and considerable diced garlic and chopped fresh parsley. Delicious. The meal was accompanied by pommes frites and small slices of baguette for sopping. A chilled pint of Elder finished the monk's testament to excellence. Take a break from the cheesesteak and commit to the Monk. Well worth it.

A quick note for first-time visitors: the restaurant has multiple entrances, and I initially arrived at the back door. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful in directing me to the correct entrance. The space has a unique atmosphere. The indoor dining area felt quite dark, but the restaurant appears to have multiple levels, including an upstairs dining area and a bar, which adds to its charm. I started with a cocktail and really enjoyed it. It was fruity, well-balanced, and had just the right amount of alcohol without being overpowering. Based on recommendations, I ordered the burger. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype for me. It could have been cooked better, and overall I wasn't particularly impressed with it. What stood out most was the service. My server was attentive, friendly, and checked in regularly without being intrusive. Overall, The Dandelion offers a pleasant atmosphere, excellent service, and great cocktails. While the burger wasn't a standout for me, I'd be willing to return and try other menu items.
