Inside the Rose Hotel is a quiet bar that has big screens. They have a tight little menu. We have it two tries. Breakfast I hade the mushroom, kale and goat cheese omelet. It was quite good! They kindly traded out the potatoes for a bed of arugula. Yum!! Hubby had a traditional American breakfast. It was nice. He asked for a little gravy for his potatoes they brought him a bowl and charged him $8. A little steep and gravy really lacked seasoning. Lesson learned. We just missed happy hour and tried to order the meat and cheese. No can do! They wouldn't even serve it at a higher price. Disappointing. I've always been a fan of Stay Pineapple hotels. I stayed at the one near the Seattle Space Needle years ago and I have bought a lot of their merchandise through promotions and sales. This restaurant is inside Hotel Rose which is part of this chain umbrella. It had been years since I went to the restaurant, but they were advertising on Passport Mobile app. a special BOGO dinner entree offer or 20% off when dining alone. It was the first time in 5 weeks that my mother could get out of the house after a really bad fall. We came to the restaurant around 5 pm and I wanted to have a relaxing evening on the town with my mother. There was only one small group of 4 in the whole restaurant -otherwise, it was empty. We sat by them because it was close to the fireplace. When I showed the server my offer from Passport mobile - she said - oh, yeah, I've seen that and we don't accept that. I asked for a manager and she said no one was on but her. We specifically went here because of the offer. The main menu was lackluster and only had a handful of offerings. Quite disappointing since the last time I was here years ago on my birthday the food choices were good. This time around it mainly was just a basic burger, salad, and pasta option. It was pretty bad. Nothing stood out to us. We normally don't walk out on restaurants but the service was so bad. I said mom - don't worry I'll find a manager on duty on the hotel side and get this fixed. I went over there and two more women both looked at the offer and said sorry, not offered here. I told them it should be offered if it's on a current site not expired. Then they said oh, that's up to management. I said could you please fix this so others aren't misled as well. Then they wanted me to screenshot the offer and write a letter to their manager about it. Why would I do that if they aren't offering the offer and I'm starving. At this point I was hungry and tired and just disappointed. I told them to contact management and have them remove it. This happened almost 3 weeks ago and the offer is still up and nothing is different. I tried to reason with them saying you really should honor it. Passport mobile is a small site similar to clipp or Groupon. It's a way for businesses to advertise and get noticed. It's a way to bring in business like yelp used to with yelp check-in offers. I said grocery stores honor coupons, she said oh, we aren't a grocery store, but even if we were, I wouldn't honor it without my manager's approval. All three staff acted lazy and unconcerned. They did apologize at the very end when we were leaving, but they didn't attempt to do anything to make it right. I doubt I will come back here. Downtown Portland has so many good dining options. We ended up getting the happy hour at historic Huber's and got great deals there while enjoying great food. This restaurant is a hard pass. read more

Ate here for a couple of meals while I was in Portland recently. Part of the Hotel Rose by Stay Pineapple this restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner in a casual environment. It also has a bar which was a plus for me with beers on tap and a variety of basic cocktails and liquor. Was dranw to coming here the first night as the hotel kicks in a free drink for each person in your group. Wasnt super hungry but had the B-K fries, a veggie burger and a beer which were both good ( An Eclpitic Porter is always nice) and some amazingly seasoned fries with aioli. On another day decided to have breakfast here and found this to very decent. Ordered a breakfast burrito and others in my group the sausgae and biscuits and feench toast plates which they found decent. The Burrito was filling but needed a but more heat ( they did offer a tapatio which gave it that zip) In any case friendly service and pretty decent food. I would say the B+K fries are a must! Attentive, genuine and very proper service from bartender on Memorial Day Monday. Cool, warm, inviting bar with fireplace area, sparkly green bowling ball-like floor detail and lots of seating options. Not a huge menu, especially for beers, but nonetheless the canned cider I got was served ice cold and hand-poured into a frosty glass. The chicken Alfredo was out of this world. It was literally the highlight of my day. So so SO good I will be thinking of that dish for many days to come. The noods were perhaps homemade and the sauce was like the kind your grandma makes. If anything, I'd want a little more chicken and broccoli, and maybe a sprinkle of red pepper flakes, but tbh it was pretty perfect as is. Will def be back for that Alfredo. Located in the Hotel Rose. We came for late night drinks. It doesn't open too late, so make sure you look at the hours. We were told they were open in the morning for breakfast but whenever we went down they were closed. So not really sure. The cocktails are pretty well made. We've gotten variety from just wine, beer to old fashion, whiskey sour and some speciality cocktails like the naked experience. Definitely short staff though! Usually just one taking a lot of orders. Happy hour service: terrible. We sat at our table and was confused if we were supposed to order at the bar or at the table since there was no serve in sight or talked to us for a bit. He finally put menus down when we were at the bar. The guy saw our coasters and without even saying hi, immediately rattled off the limitations of the orders. I asked if mocktails were included, and was just given a shrug and "sure." Maybe a pet peeve of mine, but I really don't like those answers. My boyfriend asked what his favorite beer was out of the rotating drafts and was given the answer, "I don't know, I don't drink." You're a bartender! I understand if folks don't drink, but that's not a good answer. You could answer, "I don't drink but I know x and y are popular" or something along those lines. Then asked my boyfriend, "I'm gonna need to see some ID, bud." And it wasn't in a teasing or joking tone. Pretty rude, honestly. We definitely didn't order food. Morning service: two younger server managing the coffee stand was so much better. They were nice and attentive. Several of us stopped in for drinks and dinner one weeknight and the place was pretty much dead, but they had a full staff and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The venue is decorated very nicely, very clean restrooms and they are unique with their menu offerings. It's basically pub food with a couple of entrées tossed in the mix. Their wings are grilled and are VERY tasty! The spicy style use some sort of home made or unique sauce, but the wings are also spiced prior to cooking and the combo of flavors really comes together nicely! Their spicy chicken sandwich was excellent! Very tender and hand-breaded, freshly made... definitely an incredibly good sandwich! Overall, definitely suggest stopping in here! The yelp community said yes, my feeling was "eh". The service was very nice and friendly. The ambiance was okay- nothing really to look at and several homeless just makes you feel sad. The grilled wings were really good and loved the blue cheese and buffalo style sauce. Enjoyed the beer but not a lot of great options. Bottle + Kitchen is inside the Staypineapple Hotel Rose. It's pretty small with limited seating, but it was quiet on Wednesday and Thursday nights, and not busy for breakfast either. Clean with a chill ambiance and a couple TVs for sports. They serve breakfast, dinner, happy hour, and cocktails. I had a drink token for my stay so I cashed it in for a glass of pinot noir, and ordered some fries as well (which turned out to be a massive basket for $6). There was a bartender and a new one in training. The veteran seemed to be annoyed that night and not shy from voicing it which put a slight damper on the experience. Best to keep that stuff behind closed doors. Breakfast service was excellent, with a super friendly barista, and food came out super fast. I got the American breakfast with a pair of scrambled eggs, sausage, and crispy potatoes which were on point. There were even a couple designated spots ok for dining with your dog. Prices are pretty standard. Breakfast experience was better than happy hour, but averaged out to a 3 star establishment for me. read more

Google Maps did us dirty with the directions here and we drove past it a few times. We didn't know it was in a hotel. It was also dark. Google kept telling us to turn on the next block - 1st? - and saying "you've arrived" and we're in the car looking around like "what??". So once we finally got in there we were...underwhelmed. It's definitely not much to look at. It was giving me a bit of bowling alley? And there was ONE person working there. Almost all of the empty tables had dirty plates on them. The one staff member was behind the bar so we went over and told her we had a reservation and she apologized that she wad the only one there and said we could sit wherever and she'd be right with us. Every other customer left in the restaurant was sitting in the bar area, so we walked over to the tables and found one that was clean and seated ourselves. We came here because of the Yelp reviews and the drinks and I have to say - they were right!! Fantastic cocktails. I had the absinthe one and my friend had the White Linen. Both were super delicious and light and refreshing. Then I had the gnocchi with shrimp and my friend had the fresh catch which was salmon. We loved both. Our server was great - I don't know how she did it. She was friendly and found time to check on us somehow. The Bistro Burger was a great burger, when you can get messy with your burger you know it's tasty. We ended up venturing about 45 minutes before closing but everyone was still welcoming and we did not feel rushed to order and eat. Excellent food and drinks! I had one of the best burgers I've ever had and the B+K fries. My husband had the hanger steak, also good. The White Linen and lavender mule cocktails hit the pot after a long day out at the Columbia River. Our server was pleasant but not super attentive, however she seemed to be one of two servers so that's understandable. We arrived early, which got us a great window seat with the view of the waterfront. We ordered: salmon Benedict on a poutine cake & buttermilk pancakes. The salmon Benedict was delicious and the poutine cake added a spin to this classic dish. My son loved his pancakes, especially since the server was nice enough to bring him chocolate syrup instead of maple syrup. Delicious breakfast with great service! I would give a zero is I could. Went in and 2 tables available. Both were dirty but we sat at one. The waitress said that's dirty sit at another table. Only bar stools were available and we are both elderly. We just sat there and she never came back to clean it or offer us menus. Obviously didn't care if we left so we did. Oysters were the best item on the happy hour menu as they were tender and not briney. Jalapeño grits with shrimp was a close second. Just the right amount of kick! Dates with balsamic were tender and delicious. The fried chicken was good but the waffle was too sweet for my taste although my boyfriend loved it. Ironically the bison burger for which we came here was our least favorite item as the patty had been over worked and was hard and charred. The caramelized onions saved the day and the cheese helped as well. The fries were too salty but the house made ranch for which we asked was amazing, light, and fresh and helped take the edge off of the salt overload. My wife had the catch of the day, I had the B&K burger. If you like sweet and spicy you'll like this. Here's a tip leave the marmalade on, yes it says pineapple but when paired with the spices and habinaro it's a beautiful flavor. You want this marmalade on your burger. Also had the B&K fries delicious. The marmalade and ranch are made I house. One last thing, my wife and I had come from another place. We were not treated very well. at that location. Located across from the Willamette River/Waterfront park, you can get a peek-a-boo view with the right table. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated in a corner with a view. Perfect. Decor is modern and bright with mismatched patterns. I didn't get to try any drinks, but was looking for a hearty breakfast. I opted for the Eggs Benedict. I was staying at the Rose Hotel (A Stay Pineapple Hotel) and I was hesitant to eat in the hotel bit let me tell you I was wrong! I had a beer in their stylish bar with the fire pit on behind me. The service was speedy, friendly and helpful. Great beer selection with a hazelnut porter that was delicious! I order the half chicken, goat cheese purée and Brussels sprouts. It had a sweet syrup that brought the whole meal together. The gentleman next to me had the Market Fish and he also said his was tasty. Highly recommend. We found this place on our first night visiting Portland. It was close to our hotel, had wine/cocktails, and a decent looking menu. Loved the inside! Very cute, cozy, and fun vibe. Plus, a fireplace! We shared steak frites, chicken & veggies, and a burger. Everything was delicious, but I especially enjoyed the zucchini and greens served with the chicken! Great flavors, good portions, and all around very satisfying. We went back for brunch on our last day! I was a little disappointed in the breakfast burger - it didn't come with the Bloody Mary ketchup it advertised, and the bagel bun was really hard (toasted). But loved my actual Bloody Mary! Stop by for happy hour after strolling the streets of Portland. Cute place in the Pineapple Hotel. We ordered half dozen oysters, sriracha lime chicken wings, and tachos and sangria. Oysters were really tiny and a tad warm. Sriracha lime chicken wings was surprisingly spicy. Tachos was my favorite. Its tater tots nachos. Tater tots were crispy on the outside and potatoey on the inside. Pico de Gallo and sour cream added a nice balance of flavors to the tots. Sangria was refreshing. read more

Their breakfast menu has good selections of healthy omelet which includes salmon!! It's always nice to find good and not greasy breakfast selection. Wait staffs were very knowledgeable and friendly, especially the one who served us. We both ordered the salmon omelette and coffee. The Duan cane with potatoes and French toast. It was a good breakfast. I will definitely come back again. Ambiance was very calm, peaceful, and relax. Interior seatings were well laid out. Casual yet pleasing. And the food was good, but be aware of very small portions. That was it. Now to the bad part...the service. Not only did our food take forever to get to us, the server not once came to check on us after receiving our food. Did not come to refill our drinks or ask if there was anything else we needed. We waited almost a half hour after eating for a check that never arrived. We had to find someone to give them our money. Nothing about our visit made us feel welcome or appreciated that we chose this business to give our money too. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.
