It has been quite some time since I have been back here. I came here for lunch last week and had a decent meal. I had their Taylor Street Dip with fries. I noticed that the the meat was actually braised beef chunks, which was different from the normal dip sandwiches I had. It did taste good with the dip. The staff were extremely friendly & despite a very full restaurant we were seated within 5 minutes. We order the Tavern Burger & Taylor Street Dip. Both entrees were served to us with lightning speed! However, both entrees were slightly warm at best. If the hamburger party were thicker, this would boost our score to 4 stars instead of 3. If the dip had more Swiss cheese fondue & evenly dispersed beef on both sides of the pre-split sandwich, this would receive a 4 star rating. read more

Fun, friendly environment, with good food. I would note that service was relaxed and slow and they were not too busy, but everyone was incredibly nice. I walked over from my hotel and had some trouble figuring out how to get in at first. It was funny me walking around pulling on doors trying to get in, but I realized you can enter through the Paramount Hotel. Just go in and take a left into the restaurant. I sat by the window, which made for a nice spot to relax, enjoy the meal, and do some people and street watching. For food, I ordered: ~Parmesan Truffle Fries with truffle aioli ($8) ~Hot Italian Artisan Pizza with red sauce, mozzarella blend, hot coppa, finocchiona salami, pickled peppers, hot honey, fennel pollen ($18) ~Diet Coke ($3) ~Tiramisu to go ($9) I would return and would recommend. I had some credits expiring on InKind and this place is on their list...so wife and I decided to give this a try for a weekend brunch. It is located inside of the Paramount hotel and is small but a very pleasant space on the ground level. We arrived just before 11:30a and were the only customers there. Server was very nice and pleasant. We both ordered the steak and egg breakfast. Unfortunately...this food just was not very good. The steak came with grilled onions on top with some sort of gravy...and was accompanied by two eggs and potatoes. The steak and potatoes both had a weird taste...it kind of tasted like cooking oil? Not sure. And although we both ordered steaks medium rare they came out closer to medium to well done. And my eggs were also incorrectly cooked to over easy versus over medium as ordered. Again...the staff was super nice but we barely ate 1/2 our plates...I cannot in good conscience recommend the food here. read more

We had an excellent dinner at Taylor Street Tavern! My 11-year-old daughter and I took a quick trip down to Portland for back to school shopping and stayed at the Paramount Hotel. The hotel was beautiful and the restaurant was just as lovely. Our server, Leif, was so nice and genuine, and recommended my fabulous pomegranate margarita. Their margherita pizza was terrific, as well. I wasn't expecting much regarding the pizza, and was shocked at how delicious it was! I would definitely order this again. The crust was phenomenal. This place is clearly doing all the business of people who can't get into Whiskey and Swine but are trying to grab a quick drink and bite before heading out for the evening. To that end, the staff does a great job of efficiency and responsiveness. Five stars for service. Drinks were really undelicious. We tried 3 at my table, and none would we order again. I had the It Takes Two to Mango, and it tasted exactly like canned mango nectar, which is a pretty unpleasant flavor. Minus a star. Food arrived, and all was mediocre. Flatbread for me (no flavor, crust tasted like a mix). Dry pot roast special for my friend. Unremarkable fish and chips for my other friend. Fries were tasty though. Minus another star. Folks at the next table were complaining about the dry chicken wings. Seems like most of what they prepare comes off the Sysco truck, but I applaud the business model read more

Food was good. Service was decent. The server did not have much of a personality. It was lunch time so ambiance was minimal.

Did some fancy bar crawling for my wedding anniversary and made a stop here for a drink and a snack. Got a couple of cocktails (Paper Crane and All in Time) which were really nice. They were both well-balanced and one had a house made thyme simple syrup which permeated the drink, in a good way. We got these Korean wings which were massive and came with a soy dipping sauce that was completely unnecessary because it was liquified and a mediocre flavor compared to the glaze on the wings. My recommendation is to have a side of that Korean sauce and omit the soy sauce backwash. I was not inebriated. I repeat, I was not drunk and I spilled my second drink. They made it again for free. Super cool, super kind bar staff, very attentive and personable. Would definitely come here again. Btw the inside is very spacious with high ceilings and lots of tables with windows. Not a dungeon-y, speakeasy vibe but more of a trendy, midday drinking Wallstreet happy hour feel. read more

My partner and I stayed at the paramount hotel and went to stop in at Taylor Street Tavern for dinner on a Saturday night around 5:30pm no reservation made. When we walked up to the host stand the resturant was completely empty except a few people at the bar and one table of a couple people. The hostess asked if we had a reservation to which I said no, she said we probably couldn't seat you until 7:30pm so I asked if we could sit at the bar (we're both 20 so I figured it would be a no but some places don't mind) the hostess said I don't think so, grabbed another woman to ask who said the same thing, then they grabbed a man who seemed to be the manager who told us no we can't sit at the bar and no we cannot seat you until 7:30pm and proceeded to repeat it 3 times even though we were not pushing back at all. That's fine but my partner and I didn't appreciate how the first hostess had to grab 2 other people to relay a very simple message that both my partner and I understood the first time she said it. The male manager who came to talk to us was kind of condescending which was frustrating. We checked open table to see if we could get a reservation, which we could for 5:45pm, 6:00pm, 6:15pm, 6:30pm, etc. (clearly they weren't booked and busy is the point). We got dinner somewhere else that night, came back to the hotel around 6:45pm, peeked inside of Taylor Street Tavern and it was still half empty. Not only did they lose out on money but their blatant condescending attitude towards us was just really upsetting and left us feeling bad. read more

This is a great place with good food and wonderful service usually. Three of us came in for brunch on Sunday. Two of us ordered coffee and one an OJ. It seemed like it was taking forever to get our food, so of course we were drinking our coffee (I have a bad stomach so I drink half coffee half cream). After our second cup of coffee apparently the waiter decided we didn't need anymore coffee and told us the restaurant was out of cream and stopped coming around to check if we needed more coffee (my friend uses very little cream and there was still some on the table). Our food came, it was tasty as always, but I was stuck drinking water with my brunch because the waiter wouldn't bring me any additional coffee. Nor did he ask if I wanted something else. I am perturbed about this because I just don't see how a restaurant and bar run out of cream! Additionally I am more perturbed because he didn't offer me anything else to drink with my meal. In the scope of the world this isn't a huge problem, but in the food service industry where business come and go this could be the start of things to come. What he should have done besides asking me if I wanted another beverage, the two cups (the cups are very small) of coffee I had should have been comped and an apology rendered. read more

We went for a weeknight dinner. Lovely atmo and one of the few nice downtown restaurants where you can have a conversation without shouting. Loved that. As for food, our main proteins were very good. Perfectly cooked and delicious. Side veg that came with the meal were overcooked, tasteless, and not worth eating. Come on, chef, it's not that hard to cook tasty veggies. Try roasting them on a sheet pan. Wait staff was caring and considerate, but disappeared for long periods of time so that we had to flag down other waiters with requests, which were mostly to inquire about where the hell our dinner was. Which leads me to our only major criticism: the kitchen was EXTREMELY SLOW. We waited an entire hour for our food to arrive after ordering. That is a big problem for a restaurant that is perfectly positioned to handle diners who are meeting for dinner before events at the Schnitz. read more

Called the number you have on your website and it's to the Paramount Hotel with no way to actually get to you guys. Calling to find out if Thanksgiving dinner is being served, and what the actual dinner is, if so. Why is it that there's no info on your website with details about the menu or cost? Why would I make reservations not even knowing what will be served? You lost a customer, for what it's worth. I'll go somewhere else where I won't have to struggle finding out what I would think is basic information. I've spent enough time on this, will find another place to dine for Thanksgiving. read more

Great atmosphere and wine across from the tavern. I loved the truffle fries we were recommended and the server was nice and very funny. I ordered the Tavern Burger and it was cooked to perfection, but those truffle fries had to be the icing on the cake with that sauce to dip them in. Their bloody Mary's are killer too. We picked this restaurant for pizza week. The service is pretty slow. We waited for our drinks for quite some time and they finally arrived just before our food came. We noticed that the people seated after us got their drinks before we did. The pizza was ok, but the sauce tasted like it olive brine in it. My Caesar salad was dry. We asked for pepper flakes and they never came. The pepper wasn't coming out of the pepper shaker, but knew it wasn't worth asking for more. It was ok, but didn't meet our expectations. It looks like such a nice restaurant that you would expect the food to be as delicious as the place is beautiful. Not the case at all. read more

Got a chance to come here during pizza week, and this is another place that we would have never known existed before pizza week, but their pizza was so unique and looked so good that we added it to the list, and we were floored at how good it was. The blend of thai ingredients was awesome, and the pizza had a good size to it. Service was fast and friendly, we came in at off hours and our waitress was very attentive and prompt. We liked the look of the hotel and restaurant enough that we decided to check out the pricing for the hotel and we'll be spending a night there soon! Unfortunately we have some good examples of pizza week gone wrong, but this is a pizza week gone great, and I'm glad Taylor Street participated!!! read more

My boyfriend and I we're staying at the hotel and decided to go to this restaurant for dinner. We paid cash and I accidentally left an extra $50 and ended up leaving a $70 tip on a $65 bill. Once I realized my mistake I went back to hopefully get a reimbursement, as it was not meant to be a tip. I meant to leave $20, which was already being generous. There was no manager on site that day, and because of this, it was handled very unprofessionally. The bartender handed me his personal phone to speak with the server who had served us the night before. Who was extremely upset that I wanted my money back! The bartender ended up giving me my money back, but along with extremely unsolicited advice. Mocking me for being young, how I must need the money, and that in the future I should just let this type of thing go. This was not $5 I was upset over, it was $50 and the money I planned to use for gas money on the trip home. Even the hotel was more apologetic and kind than the restaurant workers. Well, that was disappointing. This establishment does NOT take allergies seriously. After making the server, manager and kitchen aware of a serious food allergy, they served us a plate with cross-contaminated food. When we pointed it out, as it was touching the rest of the food, thus contaminating it, they promptly said they would remake the burger. We declined. They brought out the new burger 90 seconds later, minus the cross contaminated food. Like???? That literally is the same burger. Allergies are serious. I don't like to complain about food, even if it's not good. But life threatening allergies that can easily be avoided should be taken seriously. So, in short, this place sucks. Decided to try prior to a show. After waiting 20 minutes for drinks, we told the server we only had an hour and wanted to make sure we had enough time to order and eat. We were assured we had plenty of time. It took 45 minutes to receive part of our order and 50 for the other half. We had to scoff down what we could and leave the rest on the table. Very disappointing. I wish the server would have told us our time-frame was too limited. If so, I would have come back another time for dinner. Ultimate snobbery! I was staying upstairs in the paramount hotel. So, I, stopped in for a quick bite. The assistant manager was extremely rude. He told me they were preparing for a private party in an hour and a half and I needed to leave and eat somewhere else. I asked them for suggestions. He said just walk out the door and you'll see the elephant deli. I asked, is it to the left, right, or across the courtyard? He said just walk out the door open your eyes and you'll see it. I walked out the door looked around did not see it! With that kind of snobbery from the assistant manager, I'm surprised they get any clients at all! read more

The restaurant is open for brunch on Sunday. The service was good and it was not crowded. The dining room is clean and well maintained. The food was mostly well prepared. Ricotta pancakes were delicious as well as brioche served with the crab cake sandwich. The crab cake was huge, but it was very much overcooked and dry.
