I most enjoy coming in the morning when my favorite server Robert is working. He's very knowledgeable on menu items and suggests different activities to partake in during my visit. My husband and I had a date night there last night. I had pork chop, he had flat iron steak. The food was good, our server was just awful. I felt like we were eating at a Denny's. This place I was super excited about even though was in a hotel I really liked the atmosphere the only thing I have to say was the take on chilaquiles was a sad one. If you're gonna be taking a culture's food and trying to incorporate it into your business at least make the tortillas crunchy or semi crunchy it seem like they just cut it up throw it on thyme plate, throw the eggs on top. The flavor was good with the sauce and the presentation of it but the turn were like blah. Also I think our waiter was super confused because we weren't really staying at the hotel we just wanted to trailed the food. And I didn't see him the very happy that we chose a table so far away but I wanted to see the view of the park. I get it customer service sucks sometimes. over all Atmosphere on point lots of stuff to look at I love that the floors were sparkly there was a piano the bar area looked very cool I like that there was a view. Great location (in the Rose Hotel), good food, inadequate service, nice atmosphere. We are staying in the Rose and it was a rainy Saturday morning during the Rose Festival parade. So walking to a good breakfast place was not a good idea, too crowded. So we opted to eat here. We waited 5-10 minutes to get a table despite it being not very busy. Short wait to order and get food. This is my favorite place to stay and eat in Portland. Under the Hotel Rose, when I've been traveling the food is fresh, fits my business budget, and I've even met a chef! Mark, Isabelle are amazing bartenders. They even recognized me when I've come in irregularly for work! The bar menu is substantial, and their house cocktail list is on point for a trendy but not too spendy night. I really enjoy their soups that change every few days and the half chicken dish. The epic vegetarian options are great too in shush a chic surrounding that is easily accessible from the highway. I stay here and the kitchen packed the most amazing breakfast to go one morning it was truly fit for a five star hotel, no detail is overlooked with old school hospitality and staffing that really cares. My boyfriend and I came with the intention of a quick lunch but it wasn't quick.. Service was slow, only one person there to greet, take orders, and serve. We almost wanted to leave after ordering our drinks because it was so slow and awkward, but had already placed our food orders. I got the fire + ice cocktail and my boyfriend got pineapple express because someone else had reviewed that it was life changing, which it wasn't.. Fire + ice was good, really tart though, not alot of alcohol lol. We got the spinach salad which was unnecessary. The only thing we really enjoyed was the kitchen burger, which was flavorful but messy to eat. It was kinda weird to eat a messy burger in a supposedly nice hotel restaurant. Arrived at the hotel tired after a long day and a flight, but wasn't sure I wanted to eat in the hotel restaurant. My husband had been staying at the hotel a day or so before me and assured me it was really good. He was so right! And the prices were very reasonable, especially considering that we had cocktails and dinner! One of the nicest things was that a homeless woman came into the restaurant and was treated as any other customer would be - they seated her, brought her some water and took her order. It was really lovely to see someone who probably feels invisible most of the day treated so respectfully. Maybe they know her, I have no idea, but I was happy to see it. read more

The room service menu online is completely different than the one they have in house. When you are on a road trip for 4 hours and hour 3 you are figuring out what you are going to order for room service and then it turns out you can't get it. LAME. The server we had was super sweet tho. We ended up ordering all these different items than what we had originally hoped for - but the cheese plate was the thing that stood out to me the most. I am a cheese plate goddess, I tell you. I'm obsessed with them. If they are on a menu I am trying it. And I know the difference between a good one and a well mediocre one. This one was mediocre. The cheeses and jams did not go well together and were just tossed on plate. Not a fan. The rest of the food was pretty good but nothing special. We had breakfast there the next day. My husband enjoyed the granola and I had their regular breakfast. Again, all was fine - but expensive. Pricey items for not so gourmet foods. We stumbled upon this new restaurant after seeing it in Yelp. The staff is incredibly friendly, the menu is simple and really well executed, and the decor is warm and friendly. I had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, which is hands down the best I've ever had. My boyfriend had the Pasta of the Day, a pasta pomodoro with heirloom tomatoes that was buttery and delicious. We were resisting dessert, but we were talked into the Wine and Cheesecake, a blue cheese cheesecake with red wine soaked figs and candied pistachios. A staff favorite and easy to see why, you should not pass this deliciousness up! Although there will be a lot of great food options on this trip, we are already planning to come back here before we leave to try the Blood Orange BBQ Meatball Sandwich and the Guinness Float. read more

I didn't get a chance to try the food - this review explains why: I stopped here with three friends for dinner: it had good reviews and was close. The interior was beautiful and the music was good. When we arrived, the host asked us to wait while he cleared an awesome table (this was awesome!). This is where the visit went sour because no one came back to bring water or just say hi. NADA. After 10 minutes we left. No one even asked why we were leaving. (She personally welcomed my table in the warmest possible way and even brought us complimentary bacon-wrapped treats--I had her at 10 even before the treats!) All the servers were wonderful--our main server was Jeremy, and he was fabulous--so cheerful, good-humored and nice as well as thoughtful, attentive and responsive. Kudos to the chef and kitchen! The food was fabulous. I loved the oysters and the Meyer lemon vinaigrette salad. Flatbread (with pineapple that day!) was wonderful. Pork taco looked amazing. This restaurant is really not your run of the mill "hotel restaurant". Was feeling a bit under the weather on my trip to Portland so my Wife ordered us Room service to the connected Hotel Rose. I was so surprised as the only times I've ordered room service ended up in really plain and unsavory food items. This was not the case. The Food: Dinner: Soup Du Jour ("Mmm, that sounds good, i'll have that!") -- It was Sweet potato I think with some spice to it. Ok so i don't exactly remember the name, the important thing was the taste--the spice was more like a chili spice (than a jalapeño) and it was just the right amount to clear my nostrils but not keep my mouth on fire. We ate it all. Pacific NW Salmon -- crusted salmon, with pickled red cabbage, avocado with wild rice and some capers. I don't usually like pickled things but the pairing of the cabbage with teh salmon was well-chosen. The rub was not overly crunchy it enhanced the flavor of the salmon. The salmon itself did not have that ocean-y taste that I usually have when i cook wild salmon at home. Sufficed to say their Chefs did a wonderful job. The salmon was not dry at all, so lets assume it was broiled. And I always appreciate an avocado (omega-3's! FTW) "Steak & Eggs" -- ok so this was an interesting dish that was not the typical Steak & eggs that I'm used to. This was more like a "steak omelette" (i know it says it on the menu) The Braised short ribs were very tender, making it so you don't have to use your energy over-chewing -- you can instead use that time to savor the flavors. Dessert: Wine + Cheesecake -- oh myyyy! I've had cheesecake. I've had wine. But red wine poached figs on top of a cheesecake ? Now that was a pairing I've not had. The drinks were pretty unique. After four drinks and an apple crisp dessert, we paid $68 dollars. The naked experience comes in a pretty golden pineapple cup. In between the sheets was my favorite drink. The lazy Lucy was smooth but not sweet. My least favorite was the lavender mule. I love mules but this lavender flavor was unique. Very unique. You have to stir the drink for it to become decent. Also, having a few other drinks before it will help you with the lavender taste. Parking is in the hotel parking lot. We called to confirm if this was the parking for the restaurant. They confirmed but never noted we needed to visit the front desk for a parking pass. As a result, I am sharing it here. Otherwise, they will put a note on your vehicle to come to the front desk and I guess if the car is there overnight, it will be towed. Not sure but the staff answering the phone should definitely inform guests or post a sign near the restaurant entrance to visit the front desk for a parking pass. Overall, the decor is nice. I would return. The cook staff are very friendly and provide service with a smile. I loved that. read more

Six of us had a very nice quiet lunch. We called a few days in advance and made a reservation. We all arrived about the same time and were seated in a nice quiet area off the bar. Two of us had real turkey sandwich's and what I mean by this is there was actually real sliced turkey not processed. Tomato, onion, lettuce on a whole grain bread, Excellent! The reason for the 4 stars were the beets in the beet salad, sad they were canned which for the price of two small salads left something to be desired. Our server was was excellent, with just the right amount of attention! Overall experience was positive, and I'm sure we will return. I was on the hotspot. As the Elite Yelper in my group, I was tasked with finding a good place to eat close to our client site. I pulled out my trusty phone, pulled open my Yelp app and put my reputation into my fellow Yelpers hands. Thank you my fellow Yelpers, you made me proud. I received thumbs up from all of my colleagues on a great dinner choice. The menu is small, but you are sure to find something that will tickle your palate here. My choices of the bacon wrapped dates and a special with salmon were both excellent. One of my coworkers made the unfortunate mistake of letting us try her truffle fries... let's just say we had to order a replacement because after the group got ahold of them there wasn't much left! The ambiance was very fun with glittery floors and unique tables. This is in the hotel and it does have that hotel bar feel so just keep that in mind depending on the environment that you are looking to have dinner in. My only negative is that service was a little spotty. I had a couple moments where I would have liked to have had a new cocktail and the server wasn't anywhere near. Soup, some kind of chicken. Pork chop. Creme brulee for dessert. Basil got guava cheese pie. Everything was fantastic. Upon check in, we were told that Bottle + Kitchen had a happy hour. So of course, we stopped by before going out at night. The service was a 5/5 from the moment we entered to when we left. Everyone was helpful and keen to noticing when we needed something. My cousin and I each ordered a drink and shared the happy hour fish and chips. The drinks were great and the food was good, not out of this world, but you can never go wrong with the classic fish and chips. We didn't get to try any other food for any of our other meals since we wanted to explore the rest of the food choices in Portland. But we do plan on coming back and staying in Hotel Rose again. I understand there are staffing issues but when someone tells you there is only one person in the kitchen and he doesn't know how to make what's on the menu, it doesn't make you want to go back. There wasn't any salt in the food and the hollandaise needed some more lemon- mine was just butter and yolk. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the salmon was delicious.
