My fiancé and I recently dined here for my birthday dinner and our whole experience was outstanding! Our server Jonathan was so friendly and ensured we were taken care of. You can come before 5pm and get served at the bar but you cannot sit in the main dining area or order food until 5pm. This restaurant fell short of my groups expectations as the actual space did not match the vibe or aesthetic shown online. This restaurant is hidden on the 9th floor of a hotel...in the center of large space...with a roof skylight high above 4 floors of hotel windows & balconies looking down on you. You will definitely have plenty to talk about looking around. It is aiming to be gourmet food, but the execution does not quite match. The service is also not quite top tier. I had the blackened chicken sandwich with a side harvest salad. It was decent, but I've had better tasting and better looking plates at dive bars. The deviled eggs were okay, but the shrimp are not recommended. Focaccia was my favorite app. If steak is their thing, maybe try that. read more

Stopped in for a light meal and a cocktail the other day. Sat at the bar and ordered some food and cocktails. Both bartenders were friendly even though they were very busy. Cocktails and food came out in a timely manner. Comfortable seats at the bar and not too noisy even though there were several tables near us. The restaurant is inside a hotel and it had a nice atmosphere. The cocktails are superb. Service was great. Timing was very off. I had the chilled shrimp as an appetizer, delicious. But it took forever for my entree and by the time it was ready, I was ready to go home. So I hit it boxed up, they comped my drinks, which was fantastic. Got home, my steak was perfect. This was our last stop before heading to the airport and I could not be happier with our choice of visiting Urban Farmer. We stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon for drinks, and I only wish we had more time for Happy Hour oysters. My heart broke knowing we were so close, but we had to be responsible and catch a flight. Service is friendly and fast. I like that the bartender left us to our own, so we can soak in the atmosphere. It's beautiful inside with a lot of natural light and open space. Excellent breakfast and an easy standout during my stay. The crispy sourdough was perfect, the eggs were cooked beautifully, and the jam was fantastic. The real star of the meal was the chicken sausage, honestly one of the most delicious things I've eaten in a long time, and I could've finished an entire plate without thinking twice. The yogurt parfait was also very good, though quite sweet with the purée, fruit, and honey all together. Next time I'd ask for the honey on the side just to control the sweetness a bit. Been here before a few years ago for some drinks. Really like the atmosphere, music and relaxed vibe of the place and service. The food is also very delicious. I can't recommend this place enough! I had the pleasure of dining here for both breakfast and dinner, and meeting so many of the wonderful staff. Special shoutout to Raymond, Jake, Tanner, Tom, and countless others who made our visits so memorable. For breakfast, I tried the avocado toast with bacon and the açaí bowl. The avocado toast was a perfect balance of flavors and textures, and very filling. The açaí bowl was excellent as well; it was already sweet enough on its own, so next time I'd skip the honey. For dinner, I ordered the pork chop on Raymond's glowing recommendation, and it did not disappoint. The portion was generous, and the stone fruit with pickled mustard seeds elevated the flavor beautifully. We also enjoyed the tender greens salad as a starter, and for sides, the mac & cheese and Yukon gold potato purée were both outstanding. Dessert is where Urban Farmer truly shines. I can't recommend the butterscotch sundae enough; I had it twice during my stay and it was absolute perfection, with just the right mix of textures and a generous portion. The brûlée is also excellent with its perfectly torched surface. And of course, I have to mention the cornbread with whipped butter at dinner; it's hands-down the best I've ever had! I've been wanting to go here for years and finally got the opportunity to do so for a work event that I organized. And I'm happy to say that I was pleased with the experience, from booking our private dining event to actually getting to dine in the restaurant where we received delicious food and exceptional service. I'd highly recommend Urban Farmer for a group/private dining experience. Our group (party of 15) reserved The Pantry which is nicely tucked away but located near the restrooms (very convenient) and it provided privacy and ample space for a cocktail reception within the space prior to getting seated for dinner. We had drinks and appetizers for about an hour prior to sitting down for dinner service where guests were able to choose from 2 starters and 3 mains, with side dishes served family style. My favorite item had to be the cornbread and butter served to start, which I failed to get a picture of, but the cornbread looked like mini Bundt cakes - super cute! For dinner I opted for the salmon and we had mashed potatoes and mushrooms for our sides, all of it was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Service was outstanding, very attentive, and super kind. We ate here for one dinner and two breakfasts. We enjoyed very good service at each meal. Prices are a bit inflated, but not as bad as I anticipated given the hotel location. We found the dinner menu to be a bit limited, while the breakfast menu had a lot more options to our liking. Drip coffee from Stumptown was very good, while the lattes were so-so. I was a bit disappointed that the dinner wine-by-the-glass selections were so limited, plus the fact that their website touted a very nice Cab (at a very steep price) that had been substituted for a lesser Cab on the restaurant menu. The restaurant is situated on the 8th floor in the interior of the building, open all the way to the roof 7 floors above, so it feels very airy and open, despite the tables being a bit close together in places. read more

The staff were pretty friendly, joked about giving us an empty drinks menu folder. The Nines Hotel surrounds the restaurant, it's a pleasant area on the 8th floor. It felt cheap to be surrounded by plastic plants - the price of the meal should be enough to get some real plants. The food was tasty, best tenderloin steak I've ever had. One big tip - the main steaks do not come with sides. If you order a steak by default it will be just one piece of meet on your plate. Make sure you get some sides too! read more

Our experience at this restaurant was really disappointing, starting with the service. Even though we had a reservation, we were made to wait an extra 30 minutes past our scheduled time. Instead of seating us right away, they had us wait at the bar even longer, and we didn't get to our table until around 10 PM. The hostess was unprofessional. She was rude, rolled her eyes at us, and didn't handle the situation well when we asked about the delay. Still, we were excited about our three-course meal. For the first course, we ordered oysters and a cheese plate. The oysters were tasty with a nice seasoning, but the blue cheese was overly salty. For our mains, we got the halibut and the chicken. As soon as we took a bite of the fish, we knew something was off. It had a fermented, almost rancid taste, though the sauce was good. The chicken was another letdown. It was supposed to be a young hen, so it should have been tender, but it was dry. Even worse, one of the pieces looked like someone had already taken a bite out of it. The sauce tasted like a standard BBQ sauce: sweet, salty, and acidic, nothing special. For dessert, we ordered the lava cake and butterscotch sundae. The sundae was fine, but the lava cake was a disaster. It was spongy, and the chocolate was oddly salty and bitter. Honestly, Domino's lava cake is better than this. I really wanted to love this place, especially since they use locally sourced ingredients, but for the price, the quality and service just didn't match up. The best part of the meal was the complimentary cornbread and the orange juice. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back and I really hope we don't get sick from the fish. *Update: we did get sick three hours later and we are going to escalate this issue.* read more

I would actually rate the steaks 4 stars, but the sides are so bad. Maybe I chose poor options, but the mashed potatoes and the asparagus were hard to eat because they were so bad. The asparagus was cold and lacked any flavor. The potatoes were also very bland and just a sad dish. I will say the cornbread offered at the beginning of the meal was good. I hate giving a low review but I have never really enjoyed Urban Farmer, I hovered on a 3 but I think a 3.5 would really describe it for me, I gave it a 4 because it's local and I'm a softie. I have been here a few times over the years and I have never felt like "wow, that was a great meal". I got the smoked sirloin eggs benny this time and the description didn't mention sides but I thought like come on no one serves benny's without sides. It had no sides. It was filling, so it probably didn't need them I'll give them that, but even a slice or two of orange would've added a lot. I don't recall it being particularly bad or good but I do recall thinking that red garnish stuff didn't go with the dish overall at all. The service was fine, our server was very nice, but the kitchen was super slow and they didn't have our table right away even though we had reservations and it wasn't very crowded. The thing that really saves it for me here is that I love the 9's and the architecture and that its in this super cool interior atrium.
