Blackened Chicken Sandwich with salad (harvest)
    John H.

This restaurant is hidden on the 9th floor of a hotel...in the center of large space...with a roof skylight high above 4 floors of hotel windows & balconies looking down on you. You will definitely have plenty to talk about looking around. It is aiming to be gourmet food, but the execution does not quite match. The service is also not quite top tier. I had the blackened chicken sandwich with a side harvest salad. It was decent, but I've had better tasting and better looking plates at dive bars. The deviled eggs were okay, but the shrimp are not recommended. Focaccia was my favorite app. If steak is their thing, maybe try that.

This is the place for Saturday brunch. Super easy to reserve on open table and not very busy. Located in the nines hotel, super cute chic area and really awesome lounge area to hang out. The restaurant is enclosed on the side and it's not loud with natural skylight and rooms that overlook the area. Really yummy food and the service was great.

Stopped in for a light meal and a cocktail the other day. Sat at the bar and ordered some food and cocktails. Both bartenders were friendly even though they were very busy. Cocktails and food came out in a timely manner. Comfortable seats at the bar and not too noisy even though there were several tables near us. I tried the "Mechanical Animal" and the "Wake Me Up Before you Go Go" cocktails. Both enjoyable, though the first may not be for everyone, as the bartender warned me. Caesar Salad with Shrimp. Everyone else had burgers and enjoyed them.

The restaurant is inside a hotel and it had a nice atmosphere. The cocktails are superb. Service was great. Timing was very off. I had the chilled shrimp as an appetizer, delicious. But it took forever for my entree and by the time it was ready, I was ready to go home. So I hit it boxed up, they comped my drinks, which was fantastic. Got home, my steak was perfect. Overall, great place, will try again!

This was our last stop before heading to the airport and I could not be happier with our choice of visiting Urban Farmer. We stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon for drinks, and I only wish we had more time for Happy Hour oysters. My heart broke knowing we were so close, but we had to be responsible and catch a flight. Service is friendly and fast. I like that the bartender left us to our own, so we can soak in the atmosphere. It's beautiful inside with a lot of natural light and open space. It can get a little warm with the sun shining, but it was very enjoyable nonetheless. I would come back again for more drinks and HH!

We had a very good experience here for lunch. The service was good and we sat on these incredible couch chairs. The food came out fast and fresh. Not the best fries we've ever had, but the beet salad was exceptionally good.

Been here before a few years ago for some drinks. Really like the atmosphere, music and relaxed vibe of the place and service. The food is also very delicious. Went here today for the Easter brunch they are providing. Tried a little bit of everything, but the steak was so tender and flavorful. Everything was good though. Went great with coffee. The desserts were also hard to choose, but went with the little mousse and cheesecake shot glasses. The tropical mousse was refreshing indeed too.

Excellent breakfast and an easy standout during my stay. The crispy sourdough was perfect, the eggs were cooked beautifully, and the jam was fantastic. The real star of the meal was the chicken sausage, honestly one of the most delicious things I've eaten in a long time, and I could've finished an entire plate without thinking twice. The yogurt parfait was also very good, though quite sweet with the purée, fruit, and honey all together. Next time I'd ask for the honey on the side just to control the sweetness a bit. Great service and friendly people. Good ambiance. Appropriate volume (not too noisy). Overall, a fantastic breakfast spot and well worth it.

Overall, this is a Portland gem. Tucked off of Pioneer square, the unexpected multi-story skylit restaurant is farm to table with great service and ambiance. The salmon and steak was amazing and the pastry basket was such a treat!

I can't recommend this place enough! I had the pleasure of dining here for both breakfast and dinner, and meeting so many of the wonderful staff. Special shoutout to Raymond, Jake, Tanner, Tom, and countless others who made our visits so memorable. For breakfast, I tried the avocado toast with bacon and the açaí bowl. The avocado toast was a perfect balance of flavors and textures, and very filling. The açaí bowl was excellent as well; it was already sweet enough on its own, so next time I'd skip the honey. For dinner, I ordered the pork chop on Raymond's glowing recommendation, and it did not disappoint. The portion was generous, and the stone fruit with pickled mustard seeds elevated the flavor beautifully. We also enjoyed the tender greens salad as a starter, and for sides, the mac & cheese and Yukon gold potato purée were both outstanding. Dessert is where Urban Farmer truly shines. I can't recommend the butterscotch sundae enough; I had it twice during my stay and it was absolute perfection, with just the right mix of textures and a generous portion. The brûlée is also excellent with its perfectly torched surface. And of course, I have to mention the cornbread with whipped butter at dinner; it's hands-down the best I've ever had! Many thanks to the Urban Farmer team for such a wonderful dining experience. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

The calamari was meh, the cacio e pepe was mediocre and the deviled eggs were good. This was a business lunch so I failed to take pictures. Service was slow because it was a group of 9 so that's understandable and they get a pass. It's located on the 8th floor for the hotel and there are no windows in the restaurant. Parking garage was 2 blocks away or there is street parking avail or hotel valet.

We celebrated our anniversary dinner last night, our table was decorated with flowers and card from the staff. We were greeted by Katrina, she is very nice, professional and polite. She took care of us, made suggestions and recommendations. The crab cake is delicious along with the bone in pork chop and salmon. Cooked to our liking. We loved it . The evening went well . Thank you Katrina for your excellent service.

I've been wanting to go here for years and finally got the opportunity to do so for a work event that I organized. And I'm happy to say that I was pleased with the experience, from booking our private dining event to actually getting to dine in the restaurant where we received delicious food and exceptional service. I'd highly recommend Urban Farmer for a group/private dining experience. Our group (party of 15) reserved The Pantry which is nicely tucked away but located near the restrooms (very convenient) and it provided privacy and ample space for a cocktail reception within the space prior to getting seated for dinner. We had drinks and appetizers for about an hour prior to sitting down for dinner service where guests were able to choose from 2 starters and 3 mains, with side dishes served family style. My favorite item had to be the cornbread and butter served to start, which I failed to get a picture of, but the cornbread looked like mini Bundt cakes - super cute! For dinner I opted for the salmon and we had mashed potatoes and mushrooms for our sides, all of it was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Service was outstanding, very attentive, and super kind. Thanks for a great experience!

They started us off with a lovely cold soup, if I recall correctly leek and potato, and from there moved right into a lineup of heavy-hitting dishes that were packed with flavor. The beef tongue a la vinagreta was absolutely dynamite. Each piece of carpaccio was cut to the perfect thickness, which let it stand up beautifully to the punchiness of the spicy horseradish, acidic caper vinaigrette, earthy fried sweetbreads, and creamy ensalada rusa (potato salad). The clam chowder came out next, and while it was good as a standalone chowder, it was the one course that fell a little short for me. With smoked bone marrow in the mix and at the fairly high price point, I expected it to be more of a knockout, but it unfortunately just did not quite come together the way I hoped as the piece of marrow felt more decorative than additive to the flavors overall. Of course, we had to order one of the asados, so we opted for one of my absolute favorite cuts in the skirt steak and it did not disappoint! The steak was incredibly tender, cooked to perfection, and paired beautifully with their house made chimichurri sauce. Overall, it was a fantastic meal with great portions relative to the prices, and I'm definitely looking forward to returning next time I'm in the area to try some of the other offerings that we simply did not have the stomach space to try on this visit.

It was a big portion of shrimp cocktail with salsa on the bottom and these large sized blue chips. It was so good that we ate it quickly. Octopus skewers was a tad charred. Yet very delicious especially if you eat it with the pineapple together. Brings out the flavor of the pineapples quite well. We ordered the Pork Belly Tacos and Mole Shrimp Tacos which came in 3. I ordered 2 things and both came out wrong. Our waitress spoke very loudly and we could hear her having long personal conversations with people a couple tables away from us for 10+ minutes at a time, several times. While we waited for her, we ran out of water a few times and I had to ask for more. It was over an hour before our order was even taken. We did flag her down to order an appetizer, brussel sprouts with cheese on the side due to a dairy allergy, but... the sprouts came out with cheese on them. They corrected this fairly promptly, but then we sat for another 45 minutes before our order was actually taken. I ordered a steak as "somewhere between medium & medium well" and she correctly repeated my order back to me "medium/medium well." When the steak came out, it was WELL well done. Like, burnt. I wanted to send it back, but I didn't want to deal with the embarrassment or have to wait even longer for food. We were about an hour & 45 minutes into dinner by the time we got our food. I was so disappointed! I also wanted to get dessert to celebrate the occasion but the service was SO slow that we had to cancel our after-dinner plans. We ordered it anyway & requested the check promptly, giving up on our plans for the rest of the evening. We were only a party of 2, we arrived early for our reservation, & we watched several larger parties come and go while we waited for our order to even be taken. It was a Wednesday night and not overly busy, there were several empty tables, so I'm not sure what the hold up was. We were also seated at an odd table next to the kitchen with a small divider between us and the staff. It was noisy and I even heard 2 staff members exchange a joke about how someone else had left & said they'd never come back. They laughed about it. I wish I had the guts those people had to get up & leave! I've never once left less than a 20% tip and felt immense guilt not tipping well, but after experiencing the poor service then also hearing the staff blatantly acknowledge it & not care.... I was appalled. The Hilton bought the hotel attached to De Fuego and I'm shocked. This was a Monarch hotel before and I'd assume that the Hilton's standards would be higher but the service and quality here have tanked hopelessly low since the acquisition. I had a similar experience at The Underground before it closed. I've learned my lesson & won't come here for a special occasion again.
