Close up of the Classic Tiramisu

We entered through the historic bar area - it was really beautiful! We sat in the main restaurant which was nice, quiet, and comfortable. Our waitress was awesome, and the food was amazing! The prices were reasonable, and there was no waiting when we arrived. The location in right in the center of downtown Portland, so it was easy to get to. They had so many yummy desserts to choose from, but we were too full at the end of our meal, and we were on our way to a concert so we didn't want anything to go. So, we came back the next day! We had some time leftover before we needed to catch our train home, so this time we sat in the bar area, which was lovely. We had some of their famous Spanish Coffee, and it was quite the show! We still had trouble choosing a dessert, so we got one to eat there, and one to save for later! It was all so good, and we had great service again.

Fantastic, head to toe! If you want great, attentive, friendly service, AMAZING food, and perfectly done cocktails, this is the place for you! Their Fried Calamari is perfectly cook and seasoned. The Beef Stroganoff is a "MUST NOT MISS!" Their Spanish Coffee is a great show and great drink! Their Old Fashioned is spot on as well! Definitely worth the visit! Great historical value and feeling!

Enjoyed a lovely weekday lunch here today. I had the hot turkey sandwich, which is covered with gravy and served with a choice of mashed potatoes or dressing. I went the dressing route. It was very good and included a massive amount of fresh roasted turkey. My dining companion opted for the club sandwich which had multiple very thick slices of turkey breast and she said it was lovely. She substituted french fries for the coleslaw that traditionally is served with this dish. Very efficient and pleasant service in this historic restaurant. Beautiful dark wood covering all surfaces and historical hardware (such as the ample coat and had racks throughout.) Quite reasonable prices. This is a place I'd like to come back to for dinner sometime.

That Spanish coffee is cool I can't lie, the server I saw looked like they had this down it was pretty amazing to watch they have this down Wasn't the biggest fan of feeling so cramped in there but I also under stand it's a historical place that wants to tend to the growing community. The entrance of the area was confusing, we walked in and it felt like a fancy place, then they walked us to the back of the restaurant that looked a bit more casual. And that had its own entrance it was my first time there so that was a bit confusing. I had the special I'm going to be honest I don't remember what it was but I'm posting a photo of it! It was pretty good, it was a busy night and it took a bit for the food to come out and when it did I lightweight burnt my tounge. But thankful for the water always being full! It was funny how our table was silent with each of us enjoying our food. Pretty cool.

Super unique spot! The food and service were amazing! We had drhe famous turkey dinner with all rhe fixins' and the halibut w/ broccoli. Finished it with pumpkin pie dessert. Everything was fantastic. The beer bread starter was very different. Extensive drink menu from the bar. Must stop!

Huber's Cafe's claim to fame is being Portland's oldest restaurant. It certainly feels like they have maintained the original look and feel. I liked the pictures on the walls showing things from yesteryear. We headed there on a Saturday night to try out their happy hour. They were probably at 90% capacity and the two of us were seated immediately. They have a drink minimum per person, but getting one drink covers that. After we ordered our beers, we saw some staff members twirling flaming drinks in their hands, and we were completely enthralled. Not wanting to live with FOMO for the rest of trip, we decided to get one. It was a Flaming Spanish Coffee, which we ordered with decaf coffee. Tastes like an Irish coffee, but the show in itself is worth the price. The table side presentation is very fun. We learned that it was a slow day for the drink maker and he had only made 150 that day. On a holiday they may have 3-4 drink makers each cranking out 300! The other items that we got were the wings and bbq turkey sandwich. I thought they were fine as pub food to go with our beers, but really nothing more than that. I'll have to come back sometime to try their traditional turkey plates. If you're in the area, definitely worth a visit to check out the restaurant and to get a Spanish coffee!

Fantastic food and service. Had the Half & Half dinner with a Spanish Coffee...delicious food and the presentation / making of the Spanish Coffee is a must see when you visit!

This is one of those places that you can't miss here in Portland. It's got that whole nostalgic-vintage-classy-at-one-time-but-not-kitsch vibe going on... We made a reservation and the place was humming with people when we arrived on a random Wednesday evening. The food is super old school which I respect- my husband's ham plate is something that I swear my grandmother would have served! The cherry on top is the performance art of the Spanish Coffee - don't think, just have it!

Stroganoff, turkey, Martini drinks, stained glass ceiling, friendly service and easy to get to in downtown Portland. It is an authentic old-fashioned restaurant that has maintained its charm, recipes and original style. With its high ceiling and multiple seating arrangements, there was nothing cramped about this place. There even is a friendly hostess at the entrance to seat you. I felt transported back in time in the interestingl city of Portland.

Fantastic Valentines Café. Tequila and soda was perfection, The onion rings worth it! They are known for Spanish Coffee as a spectacle. We saw them being made like 5 times. Didn't need to order one. Wondering experience

Absolutely wonderful. Excellent food, efficient service, and a historic ambiance that blends fine dining and a tavern setting extremely well. Get the Spanish Coffee. They are known for it and its preparation is a show. They also house bake their beer bread, which is great. Because of that, I made sure to order the Baked Bread Custard Pudding, which was huge, wonderful, and priced well. I even had enough left over of it to take back with me. Highly recommended!!

Ronia and Olivia were so attentive, particularly to our infant: from helping get an appropriate high chair, to also giving a sample of their soup for him. We felt very loved and welcomed. The happy hour black bean nachos were tasty! We also split the turkey special which was a flavorful classic! Glad we split the meal since it was a lot of food! They even had a violinist playing beautifully which entertained our little one as well.

    Almost 150 years old!

Stayed in Portland for the night and was looking up places to go. Found that the oldest restaurant was only a short walk away. I love me an old timey establishment. Came here and was totally charmed. It's a little bit of a maze finding it down a corridor behind one of the many doors that lead out to the street. There's stained glass in the ceiling. I believe they may be skylights but we came at night. Their drinks menu is an education in itself and full of history. Food was good. Service was good. I'll be back the next time I'm in town.

How far ahead to make reservations for Thanksgiving 2026?

Minimum 4-6 weeks. Small area and possibly some make reservations annually. Not sure. Ask em. P S

    Is there a Dress code?

No! We dressed casually and saw lots of differing dress while there.

Does anyone know if Huber's is open for dinner this evening (12/26)?

    Spanish coffee server?

    Yes.

    Are kids allowed?

Yes but there may be hour restrictions in the Bar area

An article said that, "back in the bar, servers will light your coffee on fire and pour alcohol into your glass from way above their head". I promise to spend money and tip BIG if I can get this show!!!! How can I make that happen?

We visited Huber's back in April and when we ate dinner, we saw the "show" going on at another table. We simply asked for Spanish Coffee after dinner...the bar server came to our table with this cart and it was "Oh wow!" from there! :O)

Location-there is so much craziness in Portland (after visiting Portland Grill recently), that I don't feel comfortable bringing my family to my favorite restaurant in entire Pacific Northwest. Is the neighborhood around Huber's safe early evening?

Absolutely! I recently received an email from Huber's stating that their staff leaving late at night have encountered zero problems. Had a late lunch there a few weeks ago and their social distancing set up was perfect.

Is there a cut off time for kids ( teens)to be seated, if going as a family group?

Yes in the bar I believe it's 9pm but never in the restaurant area.

Are you going to be open for thanksgiving?

Yes! They also have Turkey Packages available to take home for those uncomfortable dining in.

Does this establishment have a functioning mechanical bull?

    Negative Ghostrider

    What nights are karaoke?

    No karaoke. :(

Do you need reservations for lunch?

With limited seating due to Covid restrictions, it is recommended.

Are reservations needed for Happy Hour or can one typically show up and be able to get a spot?

I was lucky enough to walk in by myself and find a seat. But it was very busy

Do you have any gluten free menu items?

There isn't a separate menu for gluten free options, but they are noted on the menu and the kitchen is very accommodating as far as substitutions. They don't however carry gluten bread options. Call ahead if you need gluten free pasta. It isn't… Read more

Do you have to know a secret handshake to get offered a spot in the majestic main room?

No there's no secret handshake. If you make a reservation please ask to be seated in the old bar or the Majestic main room

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

We came to Teardrop Cocktail Lounge while visiting Portland and were genuinely impressed…read more The cocktails were excellent -- thoughtful, well-balanced, and clearly made by people who know what they're doing. One of the best parts was how approachable the bartenders were. We asked for custom drinks based on our preferences, and both came out perfectly tailored. Creative without being weird, and strong without being sloppy. What really stood out was the price point. For the quality of cocktails, the prices felt very reasonable compared to similar craft cocktail bars in other cities. The vibe was also great -- relaxed, cozy, and not pretentious. It felt like a place where you could come for a special drink experience without feeling like you had to "perform" or order off a rigid menu. We liked it so much we actually came back a second time during our trip. Highly recommend if you're into well-crafted cocktails, friendly bartenders, and a laid-back but elevated atmosphere.
