This place was just "ok". The venison meat balls were good but the sausage meat balls tasted like Jimmy Deans breakfast sausage repurposed into a meatball. The salmon croquettes seemed like the salmon came out of a can. Overall some things were good, somethings weren't. It was hit and miss. This place has lots of potential and just needs some refinement. I would go again, but not right away. It was overpriced for what I got, but in concept, not expensive. read more

Nice quaint place that fits right in. We came across this place in passing as we were checking out the shops on a Sunday afternoon. They have a brunch menu on Sundays. They have a good drink selection(which one would assume by the name). Didn't eat here. Had a glass of wine. Mac and cheese was coming out of the kitchen as we were about to leave and it looked and smelled delicious. I'll be back to try it! read more

This is a cute wine bar in old town Occoquan. We didn't eat here but stopped in for a couple drinks while walking around one weekend. We noticed it was bustling inside and had a little shop for purchasing wine. Service was a little spotty, they seemed understaffed or undertrained; we couldn't get a hold of our waiter for awhile. They have a variety of beers, however, I was looking for a hefeweizen and the lone one they had they were out of. I settled on a Petite Verdot flight they were featuring, which was not too bad; one of them was a pretty terrible CVS wine. But I do like that they have a little tasting room and feature different wine flights every week. Not a bad option for a glass of wine in this part of town. read more

Occoquan holds a certain amount of charm that I find endearing. It is small and sweet and the shops are fun. I love the river and the little park. I am just 0 for 0 in finding my taste buds on the same page as my senses. The place was great! It is cute and right across the street from a couple of great little shops, and even an art gallery. We decided to dine al fresco, which you can choose to do out front for some nice people watching, or out back for some nice peace and quiet. We opted for out back seeing as how we three were scheming and planning for a trip abroad and needed to be able to hear and share with as little disruption as possible. It was the perfect day for it and we had a productive little gathering. The service was impeccable, so absolutely no complaints there. The food, oh man. Why? I ordered the gouda mac-n-cheese with crispy pancetta. NO. Just no. I paid $14 for a tiny portion of overdone pasta, both in the boil AND under the broil, so it was simultaneously soggy and indelibly chewy. I could not. I did not. I just lusted after my friends' plates instead. Their meals at least looked edible. I would not choose to return. I'm still looking for that GREAT dining experience in Occoquan and I am sad that this one was so disappointing. We visited on Sunday. read more

Customer service is shotty. The waiter did 100 different things before she came to even give me a drink of water....and it wasn't even that busy. I am the only African American in here...however I don't want to just attribute it to that. But as I sit here I am being treated super weird by the waiter and it sort of makes me uncomfortable. I wanted to leave but I was hungry. The crab cake sliders are exceptional. I hate that I like them. I won't be coming here again though. Super weird vibe. read more

Location in historic downtown Occoquan is awesome -- especially with the holiday decorations this time of year. Underwhelmed by the ambiance inside. Inside was very humid and steamy, and it gets LOUD. There's nothing to muffle the noise and tables are pretty close together, We had the happy hour red wine from Portugal and it was very delightful for a $6 glass of wine. The flatbread left us flat. It was uncut and we found it impossible to cut even with the knife provided, so it was messy and not quite the experience we had hoped. Love the Bottle Stop! Enjoy their wines, food, and service. The monthly wine club is fantastic and reasonably priced. Nina is wonderful with her wine recommendations. We come once a month or so and always enjoy ourselves. My only bit of feedback: as noted in a few other reviews, the restaurant does have an odd smoky smell all the times we have been there. My clothes smell like the place when I come home. It is really unfortunate and I hope they can do something about it. We will still come and enjoy. The positives far outweigh this one negative, which should be able to be remedied I would hope. Thanks! read more

Not a bad little local place. They try hard and in most cases get it right. The place kind of has a thrown together feel with a basement style kegerator and simplistic decor. The food is pretty good and the wine selection is decent. The beer selection is exactly two (on draft) and could use a few additions. The bottle and can selection is better. We had the Parmesan and Asiago dip, which can hardly be called a dip. It is chopped cheese with oil and spices. It tastes great but it is cumbersome to eat and does not resemble a dip in any way. At the least the cheese could be ground finer. The rest of the food we had was really pretty good. If you live in Occoquan or happen to find yourself here, as we did, it is definitely worth stopping in but I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

I had a better experience when I was there during their down time. When its busy they seem to not be as organized. I walked in expecting to be seated as servers buzzed right by me until I finally asked the man at the bar and he said grab your own menu and sit anywhere. This is my new favorite spot! If only I lived in Occoquan to become a regular! My sister and I went to Occoquan for the day on a weekend and stopped here to get lunch. Everyone from the moment we walked in was attentive and very friendly. We got a cute table by the window bordering the wine shop, and we definitely enjoyed the people watching! We started off with a glass of wine (they had not a huge selection by the glass, but we had a tough time deciding what to get since they all looked so good!). We split a cheese plate which had 3 new cheeses I had never had before and all were delicious (my sister and I tried to remember the names of each to buy later on!) We shared the special- the crab cake sliders and the 'that's so cheesy' flatbread. I can't even decide which was my favorite. Our waitress was down to earth and very friendly. The service was great and we were excited to get a 10% discount in the wine shop after eating there! Stocked up on a couple of bottles of wine. All in all, we both enjoyed every aspect of Bottle Stop. It's rare to have great food, food service, good wine selection and nice ambience all in one setting! Some of these reviews are laughable. There's one restroom and "inadequate" ventilation? It's an old building and I'd be willing to be it isn't owned by the people who run bottle stop. I have ALWAYS had amazing food, friendly service and understand that sometimes as adults, we wait in line for the restroom. Kim, the owner will visit and talk to everyone, she's amazing- Emil, the owner as well as Nina their manager are both very educated sommeliers with top notch customer service, always available to give recommendations and pass along their wine knowledge. Kristen and John in the kitchen push out fun and delicious specials. This place is a MUST if you find yourself in the area. They have a wine club and email list that make everyone feel involved and welcome. read more

We sat outside which was so nice! Had two bottles of white wine, yummy! We ordered the meat pizza, actual mozzarella on top which makes sure a difference (in a great way), the smoked gouda mac and cheese topped with proscuitto (I think we started fighting over it) and this parmesan dip..OMG it was amazing! If you like horrible service, a server that acts like they are doing you a favor by gracing you with their presence to take an order, and cocktails the size of a shot glass this place is for you. Friend made reservation for party of 9. Bar lost the reservation (no apology), had to wait for good 20min for table to open up to seat us all, server took way to long to do anything; take drink order, actually serve the drinks, only checked in once, get check, and collect tab payment. When we wanted to pay tab had to literally walk over to another waitress to give her the tab payment after waiting over 10 min. And the best part was we had 20% gratuity pre added. Know usually standard with parties over 8 people... but just cause it is standard does not mean we should get crappy service since you know you're entitled to a good tip. As an ex waitress, service wasn't even worth a the standard 15%. Find another place, so many options in northern VA. read more

At first glance the atmosphere is cute and cozy but once I heard they charge $10 cork fee/bottle I was instantly annoyed with the place. The food is extremely overpriced for the portion size. I paid $10 for a small crock of Mac and cheese that had no flavor and was mostly oil. The charcuterie platters are delicious but way over priced for the itty bitty portion. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio and the Deviled Eggs which are to die for! The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and the service was top notch. I have had the pleasure of dining at the Bottle Stop on several occasions since and can personally attest to it's consistency on their quality of service, food & wine. This is a slightly different type of review. Bottle Stop is one of my favorite places anywhere in the Woodbridge/Occoquan/Manassas area. I give it five stars for atmosphere, food, and drinks (I'm a beer drinker - never disappointed here, and often given great advice from Passionette one of their amazing staff members). However, this past Wednesday I spent a wonderful happy hour there and on Monday night (over 5 days later) I realized that I had lost a credit card. Since I knew I'd last used it at Bottle Stop I called them as soon as I could on Tuesday. Nina assured me that, yes, they had it and that it wasn't an uncommon occurrence for people to leave their credit cards!!!! To be absolutely honest, when I saw Bottle Stop might have it, I totally relaxed - knowing it would be there and not stolen or used. Thank you Nina and everyone there. read more
