Went to this place a few times and they never let me down. The food and flavor was really awesome. The portions are big that you may want to order something that two people may like and share. My suggestion is for two people to order 3 appetizers and a bottle of wine and just enjoy the flavors. The attitude towards clients is not the best. Very little culture towards customer service from the waiters and hostess.

So this is supposed to be high-end dining in PR. The place was pretty dead on a Saturday, but I think it was a holiday. Not sure where everyone is though, cause you would think a holiday would bring in more people. There was no dress code either, or else the family with kids wouldn't have been sitting in the dining room, so don't be intimidated by valet only and the three dollar sign review. They have this really weird reservation system where you have to pick if you want to sit in the appetizer side, or the dinner side of the house. If you sit in the dinner side, you have to order 3 entrees, but on the appetizer side, you can order anything you want, including entrees... I think it's part of their segregation strategy to keep the riff rafts away from the "ballers," aka the people who had their Ferrari and Porsche valeted in front. It was only 3 of us, so we sat in the appetizer section. We only ordered a mussels appetizer, and 2 entrees, and dessert. The mussels appt was huge. They give you a ton of mussels for sharing, and by the time we were finished with those, our entrees were ready. Their portion sizes are meant to feed a family, so definitely scale back your orders. So with 2 entrees and an appetizer, we still had to take home leftovers that could have easily fed one and a half more people. We're not shy about eating either, and since I was on vacation, counting macros didn't even cross my mind. You HAVE to try the Baked Alaska for dessert. It's pretty much a mountain of icecream sitting on top of a brownie. Pretty sure it was Hagen-Diaz ice cream too. We felt ashamed that the three of us couldn't finish it. Overall, this is a pretty cool place to go if you want to eat at a fancier place while in PR. Even though it's got three dollar signs, it won't hurt your wallet too much. Our total bill was only $140. Oh, don't get hustled and pay $50/lb for their fresh fish either. There are way better places for a fraction of the cost on the island. If this place was back in VA, it'd be a three star for sure, but since this place is sorta unique in PR, I'll be generous and give it the 4th. One other thing, they automatically include like 17% gratuity no matter what your party size is, so don't expect the waiters to work any harder than they have to. read more

Stopped in to Bottles the other day to check out the new location (to me) and buy a bottle of wine. I was hoping they had one of my favorite mixing liquors too, "43", but they did not. I'll just have to buy a bottle of that on my way home at the airport. I bought a nice bottle of 2012 Wild Ridge Pinot Noir for New Year's Eve. I tried this wine a few days ago because a friend that is a wine salesman brought it to dinner. Always good food, always mediocre service. The food proportions are definitely more than enough. Each dish can serve two people. I've been here multiple times, and more often than not have found the service to be lacking--whether it is just plain rude or somewhat neglecting. I think this in part is due to the 17% service tip already tacked onto your bill. The last time I came, however, the food tasted good, but was served cold so we had to ask for it to be reheated, thus overcooking our steak, and somehow our sides got changed from the vegetables we ordered to rice. Not good restaurant for more than 6 people on the group. In a group of more than 6 people they demand for at least half of the group to order entres plates. You have to pay the 18% of tip obligated and you have to order the appetizers and the entres at the same time all together but you cannot order just appetizers even as the appetizers cost the same as some of the entres. Came here for a business meeting. I guess this is the Beverly Hills type restaurant in Puerto Rico. Lots of fancy cars and high end clientele. We step in and it looks like a marriage of a total wine and a warehouse. Nothing fancy. We get seated and not five minutes into introductions and conversations the waiter comes and says it's 5:30 you have to order food now as this is the food section of the restaurant. I'm like wait a minute. We already order a bottle and we are talking to each other. We will order soon. Waiter is all moody because we weren't ready to order. This continued the whole night. Taking plates and silverware before we were finished. Can I say it was the issue of the waiter but it wasn't. I asked the people I was eating with and they said, oh this is normal. Not in my mind. High end clientele demands service and this is plain dumb. The food wasn't great either. My thoughts this is a place to be seen I guess. So people keep coming. I know I won't. Sleek and fulfilling appetizers and delicious family-style entrees are just the start of wonderful experience we had at Bottles! The staff at the front went above and beyond to help us navigate the check in process and we were seated within five minutes, despite not having a reservation. We enjoyed the Serrano and Manchego platter with warm baguettes and fresh butter. Utter perfection! The ham was slightly salty and fell apart at our touch and the cheese was sliced beautifully and paired perfectly with the ham. Our entrees were the Chicken Marsala and the Rib Eye. It's important to note, if you are a first time visitor like we were, that the the dishes at Bottles are meant to be shared. We over ordered by about six portions, but trust me the left overs are fabulous! The Rib Eye was tender and flavorful served with creamy mashed potatoes and pads of herb butter. The Chicken Marsala was served with broccoli and linguine. The chicken was tender and soaked in an earthy Marsala sauce. Delicious! This restaurant was outstanding! Our server Yaris was helpful, personable and charming. My parents and I ordered a bottle of red wine we chose ourselves and the family platter (which included fillet mignon, garlic shrimp and much more). It honestly could've fed an army! Bottles recently moved locations to basically across the street. The restaurant is much larger and has a lot more valet parking space. The menu is the same, though it seems like they have more wine and food displayed around the restaurant. The mussels are good and come in a savory broth and garlic french bread. Come for the good food and run from the service. The food here is consistantly great but the waiters are poorly trained, if trained at all. If you happen to get the obese waiter get up and leave. This guy has been working here for years and i have no idea why the owner keeps him around. That being said and if you like to be treated like a second rate citizen by all means try their brunch. Bottles is located outside of the touristy area in the upscale area of Guaynabo. It offers great dishes with the freshest ingredients and quality products. The menu selection has everything from Papau Lobster Tail to Colorado Rack of Lamb, Filet Mingon and foi gras. It is a Bodegas, deli and casual dining place with very upscale dishes. I love the mussels with a garlic, white wine and cream sauce with a fresh baguette. I also enjoy the salmon carpaccio with tostones or the trout. Incredible fish, meat and vegetables. Large portions, great value and lively energetic atmosphere. If you are a tourist and want to get away for the mediocre tourist trap crap, go to Bottles! read more

The food is good but the entrées are unnecessarily big and expensive. We were 6 people we ordered 4 entrées and I felt like there was a dead cow on the table. It grossed me out and I barely ate at all. They do have a phenomenal wine collection though so that is worth trying. read more

I have dined at this restaurant many times. I used to think of it as the best deal in town. Despite the high price of most of their dishes, food was plentiful and of the best quality. My last few visits have been disappointing. Quality has suffered and the amount of food per plate has been noticeably reduced. Today the food was second rate. Tomatoes were flavorless. Broccoli had refrigerator taste and smell. Tostones and amarillo's had likely been under a warming light for too long. The amount of churrasco was appropriate for just one person. This was probably my most dissonant moment in Puerto Rico. Far enough away from the cruise ship terminal to avoid the tag of 'touristy', it still felt distinctly 'other.' Reminiscent of NYC, the gourmet deli plus restaurant served passable food at higher than deserved prices. Of course, it could be the fault of my expectations, consequence of some prejudice about what I'd find on the island. Prejudice or not, I can say with conviction (and the concurrence of my two dining partners) that the duck ravioli tasted EXACTLY like hot dogs. I do not know how they pulled this off, and I don't doubt that it was duck, but they managed to find the exact same spice combination used in every Oscar Meyer weiner I've ever eaten. It was impressive, and if I'd been at an upscale food stand at a Yankees game, it would've been perfect. Here, it was just pretty good. Also tried the chimichurri steak, which was cooked to succulent perfection and topped with spot-on sauce, loaded with citrus and oregano and all the other good stuff. The salmon was also well prepared, even though it was farmed (though for any place calling itself gourmet to be serving salmon is a little confusing to me). Meaty menu - veggieheads were limited to two lonely appetizer choices off the whole page - but it's a deli so what do you expect? Didn't peruse the shelves of the retail store too much, but they seemed fancy. Also, the lunch menu of sandwiches and wraps seemed much more reasonably priced without sacrificing too much of the gourmet quality. If I was still there, I'd probably try it out. read more

I have been coming here since I was in middle school and it still doesn't disappoint. I always try to come back when I'm visiting home. The portions are HUMONGOUS (I recommend sharing) and everything is delicious! My favorite dish in the menu (one time I asked the waiter to ask the chef to make it for me because I was coming back to NY and it was not on the menu that day) are the mussels. Best mussels I have ever tried. Dumplings are a favorite, the carpaccio is delicious and served in a huge plate, ahi tuna is delicious, any type of meat is cooked to perfection, and all the sides are delicious and amazing! I got there first and started to order appetizers and bottle of wine .Later came my friend and we had to change tables .Then 2 more friends and my daughter, by this time ,I did not know about the 3 hour rule .We were finishing the second wine bottle and got my carpaccio appetizer .The waiter was nasty, asking us to hurry up cause Richard was putting pressured. HUGE portions. This, however, is the place to go when you want meat (and don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it at places like Ruth Chris'). It's expensive, yes, but the portions are enough to split AND have leftovers. Very solid appetizers; I enjoy their dumplings and their hummus (which has a very interesting spice combination) and is served with toasted pita and topped with feta cheese and an array of vegetables pickled in balsamic vinegar. Noms. If they have veal chicharrones, don't pass them up: ORDER THEM. True culinary mastery, a very memorable flavor combination. Bottles is the kind of place where they should definitely ask you if you've been there before and if not explain how it works. As others have mentioned, portions here are pretty large and the hefty prices are mostly justified. One dish is more than enough to share between two people and you also have the option of making your dishes "family" which means for an extra $7 you can add more amarillos and tostones PLUS a salad and some vegetables. And all of this is served on a wooden board that's placed in the center of the table and it's up to you and your family to split it up. Bottles lives up to its name with a fantastic wine selection. Not only is it expansive, it's also fairly priced. The bottles we ordered had prices similar to those you would find at costco (yes costco) or a wine store. They do apply a 17% service charge to your bill which covers tip, and potentially, a corking fee. Now for the food! We've talked proportions already but now let's talk options. The papua is a lovely, quite ample lobster tail. They serve the lobster next to its hollowed shell that has been painstakingly stripped of all its meat just for you. The lobster was fresh and tasty on its own, but they have some nicely seasoned clarified butter to go along. In terms of beef options, they have a few, but our favorite is the NY strip. If ordered family style, the meat is sliced in shareable portions so there is no uncomfortable cutting of a large share of meat. The churrasco is tasty as well, but I'd recommend going to a churrasqueria if what you really want is skirt steak. The amarillos and tostones were both very tasty although the plantains for the amarillos were maybe not yellow enough, and for the tostones not green enough. Alas, a very satisfactory meal with very few detractors. The Bottles space is quite large and they have some rooms that open up when they're experiencing a high volume. However, this means that the service does suffer quite a bit sometimes. The waiters are all over the place and perhaps not used to systematically tending to tables. We waited 30 minutes after being seated until we had our waitress's attention for long enough to place our order. It was another 15 minutes until someone fetched the third wine glass. The food was timely (at this point there were fewer people) and the rest of the evening went smoothly from there. The seating to the right of the entrance is likely to be more quiet, but perhaps a bit out of the way for the servers and you may be neglected. Bottles definitely has some quirks. In some ways it's following a more American style of running a restaurant but they recognize their business isn't going to pick up if they don't sell tostones. Plan ahead so you don't end up with too much food (same goes for dessert!) and know that if you come on a weekend night, service might not be on point. They only serve wine & 1 beer, but you can select from hundreds of your own bottles (hence the name) of medium to high end wine that you likely won't find at the liquor store next door. But let's talk about the food!!! We've tried almost every appetizer and each is better than the one before. From crab cakes to oysters- even their humus is amazing! And the steak was seasoned & charred to perfection. We like the concept of a shared menu that doesn't change, with careful attention to each item. Visiting our friends in Puerto Rico we decided to grab a bite to eat. We didn't want to sit for a looooong time in a restaurant but we didn't want anything too casual either, so they decided to go to Bottles and it was great! It's a wine/liquor and gourmet food place. You have an immense selection of wines to choose from, to drink at the moment or take home with you. They also have a huge variety of foods to fill up your hungry tummy. We went for an Albarino and fried calamari's, which were totally delish, steamed dumplings with ginger sauce...mmmmm and a berry salad which was outstanding. Kenny took EXCELLENT care of us and he was very happy to answer any questions we had and he was very prompt in bringing our wine and our food eventhough the place was pretty full. All in all, it was a great experience and we are looking forward to going back on our next visit there. read more

This place is honestly so good! You would not expect the quality of the food when you walk in because it looks like a bigger restaurant. However, every single plate we tried was amazing!!! Brunch at Bottles! I knew that it was a wine and liquor store with a sit down menu, but I didn't know what to expect of their brunch menu. This place was recommended by a stranger at Borders (while I was looking at Puerto Rico travel books) and my boyfriend's mom. So we went to check it out on Sunday. The menu is a little expensive for what you would expect from a restaurant connected to a wine/specialty food store, but it is totally worth it when you see how much food you get and how great it tastes. Everything on the brunch menu was around $15-25. I had the banana foster's French/Texas toast , and it came with potatoes, a croissant, fruit, a piece of bacon, and ham. I couldn't eat it all and had to take the rest to go. The food came out quick and the waiter took good care of us. I would definitely recommend this place for brunch to anyone! read more
