Bouchon was such a special treat for my first visit, especially during Restaurant Month. We went for lunch and everything hit. We ordered the escargot, the salad, the steak, and the truffles, and honestly it was all so good. I had a French 75 with it, which was the perfect pairing. The waiter was amazing super attentive and made the whole experience feel even more enjoyable. The restaurant itself is adorable and cozy, right in the heart of Yountville, which makes it feel extra special. Plus, the bakery is literally right next door, so that's a huge bonus. Michelle checked us in and she was doing the best she can despite how busy it was with people trying to get a reservation. We were a walk in and were lucky to get in on a Saturday night, but it was a 1.5 hour wait. As we watched others get seated before us, I started to get super hungry. Bsapp saved our experience here at Bouchon. Super lively and energetic server. Our wait time was what felt about 10 years because we didn't eat all day and everything around town was closing. I'm glad we got to eat some good food! Bsapp was hilarious he said let's get you some food and he started us off with some bread and butter. We ordered a few dishes that he recommended and then told us the order they would arrive, which felt planned out. I liked it. The beef tartare (2/5), felt a little sour for my liking. Escargot (4/5) tasted great but something was missing. French onion soup was incredible (5/5), the taste was fresh, rich, not too salty, perfectly balanced. The GNOCCI WAS (5/5) - our favorite dish and our waiter recommended it. It had freshly shaved truffle omg, consistency was so good and he recommended we paired it with creamed corn. Located in the heart of the wine country on Washington Street in Yountville lies this gem. If you have been tryiing to get into the French Laundry" then meet its sibbling, a much more doable venue. Although it is situated in the quaint Yountville, you might as well be in France for all intents and purposes. Do not be shocked if you day dream every once in awhile while there that you are on the streets of Paris in a nice restaurant. Now lets get back to Yountville and Bouchon shall we? After being seated we opted for the oysters, just be prepared it can be a pit pricey if your choice is to have more than 6. I was not even paying attention, and it showed at the end of the meal in the form of what was on the tab. :-) I guess I thought it was just going to dissapear. Lol- Moving on, we both opted for different items. Of course our first course was with some bubbly...bubbly bubbly bubbly :) I opted for the Poulet Rôti roasted chicken. This was served with pommes Lyonnaise, caramelized onions & chicken ju. My friend she ordered the Saumon Poêlé pan-seared Scottish salmon with French green lentils,matignon of root vegetables & red wine j. Quite honestly, I wish I would of ordered this, it was more my style and loved the way they prepared it. We hared some sauteed spinach I believe. It was a wonderful meal, glad that I am able to go to establisments like this every once in a Blue Moon. Bouchon may have lost its Michelin star, but it still delivered everything you could want from a Michelin restaurant -- impeccable food, cohesive atmosphere, and even a French chef who visits the table to explain what you're about to eat! The French-inspired decor is both rich and regal; deep reds and dark woods really sell the royal-chateau vibe. The menu is expensive but not break-the-bank pricey; it was perfect for a special day out of wine tasting. I had the roasted chicken, which could not have been better -- crispy skin, juicy meat, and plenty of gravy. I also had bites of the mussels and fries, which was the real star -- cloves of melt-in-your-mouth garlic spread over the table bread were an absolute treat. Had an amazing dinner on a Tuesday night at 6:00 in 5/2026. We are glad we sat outside because the dining room was very loud and hectic. Tables seemed to be very close together. In contrast, the patio area was serene and lovely. Service: every single detail was 100% impeccable! One of the best services we've had anywhere. Food: fantastic! Ordered : cold pea soup: refreshing, light, full of flavor. Really enjoyed it! Salmon tartar: very good. Larger portion than expected. Lamb: came with white beans. Well cooked and flavorful. Bouchon Bistro is always a wonderful experience, from the warm hospitality to the consistently high level of service. The staff is attentive without being overbearing, making the meal feel relaxed yet refined every time. The food never disappoints. The steak tartare will always be my favorite. Finely chopped beef that's rich and buttery, perfectly seasoned, and balanced with capers, shallots, and egg yolk. It's classic, clean, and executed exactly how it should be. My husband ordered the American-style breakfast and it was massive. Eggs cooked well, crispy bacon, savory sausage, toast, and a buttery Danish that rounded everything out. Definitely satisfying and great value for the portion. The Epi bread deserves its own mention. Warm, crusty, and fragrant, it's one of those small details that makes Bouchon feel special and sets the tone for the entire meal. We visited Bouchon for lunch on Easter after ditching the very long line at the bakery. This ended up being an excellent idea because the host at Bouchon clued us into a bakery hack -- order online at the bakery while you dine at the restaurant. And voila our order was ready for us to just breeze on through the line for pick up after lunch. This will be our go to plan from now on when in Yountville. This was my first visit to Bouchon in Yountville -- I've been to Bouchon Las Vegas a few times, many moons ago. Bouchon Yountville did not disappoint. Our lunch started off with some of the bakery's complimentary epi baguette. It's crispy and crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside, just as it should be, served with house made butter. Maybe at other restaurants, the free bread isn't worth mentioning, but it is here and not to be missed. So don't miss out on this baguette, even if you are watching your carbs. These carbs are worth it. For our entrees, I went with the duck confit in a whole grain mustard sauce and brussel sprouts. It was divine. The skin was wonderfully crispy and the meat was tender and well seasoned. I've had plenty of duck where the skin is crisp but there's barely any meat on the bone and the whole experience is just sad. Not the case here - I couldn't have been happier with this dish, which was served atop a rich and tangy whole grain mustard sauce that unsurprisingly paired well with the fattiness of the duck. The brussel sprout side dish was not after thought, as veggies can be at other restaurants - they were perfectly cooked and well seasoned. My husband went with the croque madame - which he also really enjoyed. Unfortunately, I could not give it a try because dairy - but as a Frenchman, the fact that he gave it a big thumbs up means something in my opinion. We also both enjoyed the Bouchon pommels frites, which were thin and crisp and expertly seasoned. We finished off our meal with some very good espresso. And before we left because it was Easter, they gifted us with a small package of hot cross buns! I devoured those later as a snack and can attest to their quality. We didn't plan to have lunch at Bouchon, but I'm so glad we did. Bouchon may not be a substitute for a visit to the French Laundry, but as a Thomas Keller restaurant, as expected, the dining experience here was fabulous. read more

Went for Mother's Day brunch and it was alright. Wife had waffles and a croque madame. Waffles were good, on the thinner side which is preferred as it gives a better crunch ratio. The crème, berry, and maple topping was otherwise average. The croque madame came with fries that were perfectly cooked but unfortunately while the croque looked beautiful it tasted way too buttery. Overwhelming truffle and butter flavor. It was cut by very salty ham but needing something else. I had the gnudi which was cooked well. No complaints. The roast beef was also cooked very well. They gave three small medallions. Overall not worth the $200+. I also spent $80 at the bakery next door the day before and most of the items were quite forgettable. One house in Benicia beats it by miles and it doesn't have a stupid line out the door. read more

This is one of the famous Thomas Keller restaurants. When we arrived early they seated us immediately but it is a small restaurant and seating is very tight. They pull out the table so you can slide in. Putting my Bouchon bakery bag on the seat next to me is almost touching the person sitting at the next table. I wish seating was a little bit more comfortable and spacious. The escargot with the puff pastry and light sauce on the bottom was delicious. We also had the French opinion soup but we have had better at other restaurants. The two main dishes, leg of lamb and the chicken with peas were both on point. We had the meringue with fresh strawberries. I think that it could have used a scoop of ice cream along with the meringue but that's me. I've been to Napa 4 times now and Bouchon is always the first stop on our annual girls trip. We love the food and service here, especially the truffle fries. It is worth the upgrade! On this recent trip, I ordered the tarte au citron - move over profiteroles, this is my new fav dessert at Bouchon. The lemon custard is silky smooth and tart, and complemented well with the crust. I also enjoyed the steak frites, mussels, escargot and French onion soup. My friend has a dairy allergy and the servers and kitchen staff were very attentive about her allergy. I first noticed Bouchon because of the long lines at the bakery and always looked forward to stopping by whenever we visited Yountville. We finally decided to dine at Bouchon Bistro to celebrate our friends' 29th wedding anniversary and made reservations in advance. It was truffle season, which I was excited about. The server clearly explained the specials, and I chose the dumpling dish with freshly shaved truffles. Our group of six enjoyed the complimentary Bouchon bread with butter, attentive service, and well-paced courses. We ordered from both the regular menu and daily specials, and dessert was delicious. The only disappointment was the truffle itself--it lacked aroma and flavor. Having had freshly shaved truffles in Italy, the difference was noticeable. My guess is the truffles may not have been at their peak. Aside from that, everything else was excellent and made for a memorable celebration. read more

It's been years since we last dined at this location. We visit Napa quite often but it just hasn't been easy to get a reservation here. This time, I guess someone canceled and there's a dinner spot opened right when we checked, so we wanted to give it another try. Our experience this time was better then the last few times we visited. We were greeted promptly by the host, immediately seated and server provided us with waster and bread. Took a while to decide which bottle of wine to open, but serve was patient yet attentive to check with us a few times. For food, we ordered the watercress salad, rotisserie chicken, Beef Tartare, and Salmon Tartare -- each showcased the kitchen's skill and attention to detail in very different ways. I also ordered French onion soup, special requested without bread, and they made it happened just the way I wanted. The rotisserie chicken arrived perfectly golden, its skin crisp and aromatic from a well-balanced herb rub. The meat itself was juicy and tender, with just enough seasoning to enhance the natural flavor without overpowering it. It's the kind of simple, honest dish that demonstrates confidence in execution -- comfort food elevated. The Beef Tartare was a refreshing contrast -- clean, bright, and beautifully plated. The beef was finely chopped, maintaining its delicate texture, and seasoned with precision. A subtle tang from capers and mustard cut through the richness, while a drizzle of olive oil added a silky finish. Served with crisp crostini, every bite had a satisfying balance of flavor and texture. The Salmon Tartare was the surprise favorite. Fresh, buttery salmon pieces were mixed with a touch of citrus and dill, offering a light, zesty lift. I heard this is a popular bakery in the area and decided to check it out after lunch. There was quite a line but it moves pretty quickly. The service seemed very short. It felt like I needed to know exactly what I wanted right when I got to the helper but the line is outside so you can't really see what the options are. I recommend you look at the menu online so you can be prepared to order. Maybe the restaurant can put a sign outside with their menu so customers can take a look while waiting. The online website is hard to navigate. You need to pretend to place an online order to see the menu. I ordered the TKO. It is a cookie type of dessert resembling the flavors of an Oreo. I was not a fan. The two outside cookies were pretty hard and didn't have any special flavor. The crème in the middle was nice and soft. I also ordered an almond croissant. The croissant was very dry. The outside of the croissant shatters into pieces and it's hard to eat. No inside seating. There is outside seating with canopies which was really nice. Located in Napa Valley, the Bouchon Bistro is beautifully decorated, very romantic and classic. The wait staff are also very friendly and attentive. I wish I could say I loved everything, but, honestly some items weren't my taste and that's okay. The steak frites which my husband ordered? Classic, delicious, perfectly medium rare, and can see why they had a Michelin star. The marquise, again, gorgeous and silky and really rich. The dark chocolate with that gorgeous pistachio cream was amazing. I skipped the citrus whip with it, as I love my chocolate desserts voluptuous, rich and dark. My lamb leg? Cooked perfectly (rare is the way I liked it), but not my favorite item. The legumes were also beautifully cooked. The seasoning was just not my type and that's okay. The bread also, great, and I liked the vine shape they went with. Fromage du jour and deviled eggs were also amazing: will be giving them a try again. The only issue was that: the restroom was a bit...park bathroom for my taste (if I spend 300$, I want a nicer washroom) and that there was hardly any space between myself and the people around me--my menu caught fire, as well. Overall, great experience. Will order the steak, eggs and fromage again if i'm ever able to. I will opt for outdoor seating next time, though and use the restroom before going. read more

First time back in 3 years, and tonight missed the mark. Two Steak Frittes ordered medium (per my post below!), and one was very undercooked. Sent back, and the new one they sent out was worse! Almost raw in the middle. Had to send back again, and the re-fire was almost burnt at the ends, but finely edible. They didn't charge us for it, but still, it made for a pretty messed up dining experience. Especially on a dual-birthday special occasion. The servers and a manager were kind enough but definitely showed their frustration. A free birthday treat dessert was a nice touch, too. But after being seated at a beautiful corner table, starting with some amazing oysters, and settling in for greatness, it was definitely a letdown. We made a reservation for a birthday celebration for two. We were seated immediately to a small two person table, which was quite close to the other tables. It was an issue until the table next to us was sat down and it was time for us to leave. They had to scoot their table over so much it was basically now attached to the two people on the other side of them. The closeness of the tables also made it difficult when our server was filling our waters or dropping off food, putting him practically in my lap. The food itself was delicious! We started with the confit de canard which was the highlight, we both loved this dish and could not stop talking about it. Then we got the Scottish salmon and beef bourguignon which were both cooked to perfection! We had a great time at Bouchon for our mini moon after celebrating our wedding in San Francisco. The food was delicious, service was great and the atmosphere was romantic and intimate. We loved the French onion soup smothered in melted cheese. So delicious. My husband ordered the mussels. The buttery sauce was divine. My wife and I spent a couple of days up here and made these reservations a while ago to insure that we had a spot. As always, this place is delightful-delicious. Our hostess brought us to our table and within seconds we were greeted by our server and other members of the team. We started off with an amazing piece of delicious crusty bread, butter and pistachio nuts to enjoy while we perused threw this amazing menu. Making a decision here is difficult, very difficult but we worked through it and decided we would order different items and share. My wife went with the escargot to start and made certain that I knew that she was not putting this on our "share menu." I went with the amazing Oysters. They were delicious, really delicious. Main dishes included a wonderful pan-seared flat iron steak, caramelized shallots & maître d'hôtel butter, with French fries. My wife (Helene) had the Boeuf Bourguignon braised beef short rib with fingerling potatoes, French round carrots, button mushrooms, pearl onions, bacon lardons & sauce Bordelaise. For the price, it's one of the worst meals I've had in recent memory. I've always wanted to visit Bouchon because I've heard great things about it. Our waiter didn't pay my husband and I much attention. We asked for a sommelier for our wine pairing and it took them 20 minutes to come out (even though we saw the sommelier standing around just chatting with his coworkers). I didn't think his wine pairing was that great either. Like other people mentioned, they just dump the baguette straight on your table. The baguette is also, surprisingly, not that good. It tasted hard and stale and the butter wasn't remarkable either. It's also packed people-wise so we were almost shoulder to shoulder with another table, crammed into a corner. To start, we shared the french onion soup and it was very sweet - not your typical french onion soup. It was so sweet that we were a bit disconcerted with the flavor. Would not get again and definitely not worth $24. I got the steak frites ($55) and my husband got the poulet roti ($39). For $55, I expected more from my steak. First of all, I asked for medium rare and arguably I don't think it was medium rare, it was definitely on the rarer side of medium rare. Usually, medium rare cuts through perfectly, but this steak was very tendon-y and hard to bite through. The steak is coated with butter and oil and tons of caramelized onions on top so it's quite heavy as well. The fries were good, though, and came with ketchup and a solid aioli. My husband liked his chicken enough, I tried it and it was a tad bland but nothing to write home about or complain about. Overall, service was mediocre. Food was mediocre, especially for the price. We skipped dessert because we were so disappointed (we also did go to the bakery in the morning and was not impressed but that's for a different review). One and done - would not go again. Super cheesy, very well made, piping hot and had croutons and bread inside the soup. Very comforting dish. Escargot - Not bad. Puff pastry over the actual escargot which have already been de-shelled already so that's a plus. Super buttery and flavor was decent. Black truffle Gnudi- I would probably skip this in the future. It was one of these specials of the day. They're essentially mini dumplings stuffed with cheese and topped with a lot of black truffle. Love coming here for a special lunch. Was in Napa for a wine tasting and of course had to have lunch here. We love the braided bread (leaf shaped) and butter that comes to the table. We shared a the French onion soup - so good. Had the blackboard specials : Croque a la truffle and the salmon Poele served on a bed of sautéed spinach. Salmon was perfectly cooked but didn't have a great flavor profile like the Croque a la truffle. Yum! Definitely taste the truffle and the bread was so fluffy and light despite the heavier sauce. For dessert we had the profiteroles with warm chocolate sauce - ooh la la so good. Be sure to check out the chalkboard by the bar for the daily wine pour specials. They are a great value and we have never been disappointed. For today we tried the Sauvignon Blanc from Mathiasson vineyards and the Grenache from Three Clicks. It was like we had walked into a different country with the aesthetics in this restaurant.Traditional French setting, with excellent French food and wines. A great selection of French food, and the Gigot d'agneau was superb. Just wish it wasn't so difficult to get a reservation here! read more

Excited to try this Thomas Keller Michelin star restaurant serving traditional French bistro fare located in Yountville. Bouchon is small inside and gets busy so best to make reservations. There are beautiful antique light fixtures and sprawling hand painted murals. The tables are placed very close to each other, so not a place for private conversations. If you sit along the wall they pull the table out a bit so you can sit down then push it back into place. The bread is placed right onto the table ( actually a fun way to get the meal started) butter is served alongside. We were checked on constantly ( water, bread, can we clear that plate, need anything else) I don't think I have ever been anywhere where I didn't even wonder when the waiter would be back. The specials were explained along with the standard menu and restaurant month offering. I went with the restaurant month menu - select from 3 appetizers and 3 entrees. I chose the escargot de Bourgogne (burgundy snails, parsley garlic butter & topped with puff pastry) and steak frites ( pan seared with caramelized shallots and butter served with fries) I upgraded to truffle fries without realizing it was a $9 up-charge. The garlic butter was so delicious we started dipping our bread in it. The escargot was beautifully presented. I ordered a cocktail with lunch - Mauvaise Pomme ( Bad Apple) Mezcal, apple liqueur, brown sugar spiced syrup and orange bitter. Very good and went well with my meal. When I had my leftovers boxed up, I asked for some bread to be added and they brought me a whole loaf. What a nice surprise. I'd like to go back and try their French onion soup so many people were ordering it and it looked delicious. Overall wonderful experience. read more

Amazing spot, we were so happy to get reservations. I've always wanted to go to a Thomas Keller restaurant and now I understand the hype. We went for my partner's birthday dinner and she loved it. Upon entering, the ambiance was very reminiscent of a French bistro. It was a little cozy, with the tables packed closely, but it did remind me of restaurants I've been to in Paris. They started by giving us two flutes of champagne to celebrate, super amazing staff. They were attentive for the entire meal. The escargot was enveloped in a choux pastry and covered in a delicious, buttery sauce. Probably the best escargot I've ever had. The duck leg confit was super juicy, but still had an amazing crust on the skin. Finally, the steak was cooked to perfection. Absolutely would love to come back or try any of the sister restaurants next time I'm back in Napa read more
