we went to anjali's today and it was absolutely amazing. my girlfriend and i went together for a date night and we got three main dishes: - the duck confit - the beef bourguignon - i forget what the last dish was called, the anglia otto pasta dish or something like that all three were absolutely phenomenal. if i were to rank the favorite dishes from most favorite to mid then i would start with duck confit, beef bourguignon, and then the pasta dish. perhaps the fact that i don't remember what it's called says something about the pasta dish in itself. that being said it was the one with wild mushroom and a cream sauce, which is really good. i think it was cremini mushrooms, very tasty. starting with the duck confit, the dish also had duck sausage which was phenomenal. the casing on it had a big snap to it and you could tell it's different than a normal sausage because a duck sausage has a slight gamey poultry flavor to it. absolutely delicious. the duck confit was crispy, the meat inside was flavorful, tender, juicy, and there were cherries that accompanied the duck. classic culinary pairing as well as some arugula to help cut the fat and the heaviness of the red wine sauce as well. i would definitely get that again and highly recommend it for anyone who comes here. next dish was a beef bourguignon. that one is very solid. the beef was fall-apart tender, the red wine sauce was very tasty, and the red wine shined through. i felt like i drank a glass of wine as i ate that even though i didn't actually drink a glass of wine, it was just a sauce. the pearl onions were very very tender, the carrots were delicious, and the mushrooms were also very good. a well-executed dish. lastly the pasta dish, mushrooms are delicious. i think the inside of the pasta thing was like cheese and mushrooms. pasta i think could've been cooked a tiny bit better or a tiny bit more. it was slightly on the extra al dente side. overall the waitstaff was very friendly, very nice. the ambience was beautiful, gorgeous. we got to watch the sunset over the mountains and hills in napa valley right on the napa river. in fact there are just plenty of places to take pictures around the restaurant. highly recommend for anyone who goes to napa valley. read more

Was here recently for the second time. Went as two couples and sat outdoors on a perfect Napa evening. Service was very friendly and professional. Can't remember our server's name but she quickly took our drink order, primarily wines by the glass. She was also very good about describing the specials and answering our questions about the menu. The various dishes were brought at appropriate intervals and we had a wonderful, relaxed evening. All of our wines were fresh and served at the proper temperature. In terms of food I had the potato leek soup and the agnolotti both of which were delicious. We finished with some sorbets and limoncello. Overall a great dinner. Highly recommended. read more

Got food poisoning from the beef tartare!! I was there a week and a half ago, I asked the server what was beef tartare, told me that it was minced meat but forgot the most important thing to tell me, that it was "raw"! After a week, when I started to recuperate, I remembered having seen warnings at other food establishments warning consumers Of raw meat consumption, then I googled information on food safety requirements, and found the following "Under the FDA Food Code, food establishments must provide a Consumer Advisory consisting of two parts: * Granicus +1 1. Disclosure: A clear written statement on the menu indicating that the steak tartare is served raw, or an asterisk next to the dish directing to a footnote that explicitly states the item contains raw or undercooked ingredients. * Granicus +1 2. Reminder: A footnote placed on the menu stating: "Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, or eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness, especially if you have...." We've been fortunate to dine here several times. It's always such a treat. During this last visit, the restaurant was decorated very tastefully for the holidays. I love the warm lighting inside. I had the lamb and israel couscous which i loved! i don't usually like israeli couscous, but i loved it in this dish. There was just the right amount and it was dressed with brussel sprouts, persimmons and jus. Such a perfect winter meal. We also enjoyed the pepper and cheese fried biscuits, oxtail and lentil and the onion and goat cheese tart. Everything was freshly prepared and delicious! But our concierge, Maria, at The Harvest Inn where we were staying said it's the best and we absolutely needed to go, so we went and super happy we did! Shout out to Maria at The Harvest Inn! We started off ordering two cocktails, the CLEAR CONSCIENCE which is vodka, cucumber, ginger, and lime and the PLEAD THE PITH which is mezcal, punt e mes, grapefruit, and salt. Both great! And an appetizer, the beef tartare. The bread came warm and soft, and the butter to die for! We ordered the NICOISE SALAD which is tuna conserva, baby potatoes, olives haricot verts, garden lettuces, and farm egg. My husband LOVED IT! I ordered the CHICKEN POT PIE with chicken, carrots, potatoes, leeks, button mushrooms, and veloute. It was not on the menu, and was a special. Seriously the best I've ever had! I'm still craving it, I'd eat it everyday if I could. You can tell all the ingredients are fresh. The service was impeccable, our waiter was so nice and funny, and our table was always clean. My friend and I had a reservation at Angele and came for dinner. The atmosphere is French and charming, and even on a Tuesday night the restaurant was quite busy. We both had great cocktails and started with the salmon mousse, which was amazing. I love beef tartare so I had to try it, but this one didn't blow me away. Had a wonderful dinner at Angèle to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food was very good, with generous portions and prepared at a very high level. One highlight was my Fox Hunt cocktail, very tasty! Lastly, the restaurant setting and ambience reminded us of a quaint French farmhouse, really cute. The staff was also excellent, acknowledging my wife's birthday and the reservation mix up (my original reservation was canceled unexpectedly and I had to rebook). Throughout the evening, they checked in on us, helped us pace our order to have a relaxing dinner, really showed they cared - true professionals. This was our first time at Angèle. We had a 715 reservation on a Saturday evening, but we're not seated 20 minutes later. They were super apologetic and gave us a huge order of fries. We love the ambience and vibe of the restaurant. Our server was very attentive along with the bus boys. Empty dishes were always cleared and no water glasses were always filled. Now let's talk about the food, we ordered the escargot, sea bream, mussels, steak frites, and agnolotti. All the dishes were excellent! It was overall a great meal. Love how close Napa is ....The most perfect day in wine country! Dinner at a fav -Angele! Seriously amazing French food with some great homemade pasta selections too. Great creative drink list! We had the garlicky delish escargot to start, along with the crisp fried artichoke hearts. Both are must gets! The beef bourguignon was everyone's fav- fall apart short rib with classic veggies and a dark sauce over homemade pasta. The rigatoni with sausage, broccoli rabe, and breadcrumbs was amazing! And of course I had to get the duck! Crispy confit of duck leg and thigh, served tonight (prep varies) with greens, sunchokes, and a huckleberry sauce that was not sweet. We visited Napa a few years back and this was one of my favorite spots. Still is. First of all the location is gorgeous. We sat outside and looked out over the water. Very romantic and Napa weather is perfection. We had the olives to start and house made brioche. So yummy. I ended up with the mushroom risotto and hubby had the steak with their fries. Prices were steep, and though the ambience was nice, a lot of the food was quite salty - from the escargots to the French onion soup. The fried artichoke hearts were perhaps my favorite dish. The soup was good but too salty too. I also got the rigatoni which seemed to be the highest rated item on their reviews and thought it was ok. The flavors were a bit overpowering and it was a lot of flavors going on at the same time. Portions were huge in order to justify the steep price, though I think there are definitely other places that could justify the price for better quality food! The service was exceptional. They were very nice about opening/closing the umbrellas and starting the fire heaters. AND there was a yellowjacket harassing our table and the waiter provided us with rosemary which did keep the yellowjacket away from us for a good while. I came with a large party and I don't know the specifics on how it was coordinated, but we got a set menu and it was family style so here is what we had: Garden Lettuce Salad: It was a salad all right! It was fine, lightly dressed (in my personal opinion but I'm a heavy dresser). It was just lettuce, radishes, and that's it. Pretty simple but I personally wouldn't order this as an app for myself (I'm more of a ceasar salad girlie) Pâté de Campagne: hmm... this was definitely a dish my table was not familiar with but essentially it's glorified lunch meat. It reminded me of the mystery meat you would see in the movies that school cafeterias sell. It looks kinda gnarly but the taste was WAY better than expected. They also provided different mustards to dip in. I dipped mine in the Dijon which added a nice small kick to it. Tortellini: this was the HIGHLIGHT of the meal for SURE. Super refreshing with it's corn innards. 10/10! They served about 5-6 per person and truthfully, I wanted an entire BUCKET of it. Duck confit: personally, I am not a fan of duck. so this was never going to be a HIT for me, and it wasn't! But I still ate it and it still was pretty yummy. It sat on a bed of lentils and carrots and the lentils were a bit salty but went perfectly with the side of mash potatoes we had. Petrole Sole: I loved it. It was perfectly juicy, had a bit of a nice lemony-zest feel to it. It's a great summer dish and I felt really refreshed (and I'm not normally a fish person) read more

I made a reservation on Open Table and noted it was our anniversary dinner and we were greeted with two small glasses of bubbles, beautiful. We took a while to figure out what to order since everything looked good but we landed on: Housemade brioche: this was good but $16 is a bit much for a small roll of bread Olives: More my husbands thing but he finished them off so they must be good Rigatoni: After consulting with our server, I picked the rigatoni since I don't usually have pasta at restaurants. For some reason I pictured a red sauce coming out so I was surprised at first, but I enjoyed it. Beef bourguignon: My husband liked this, but after tasting my pasta said he would get the rigatoni next time. I'm not a fan of this dish in general so it wasn't for me. Came here for a special occasion for a very special person. The location is amazing and the outdoor patio was perfect for the lunch we were having. The patio seems like it's probably the most popular place to sit during the summer time. Our server was very knowledgeable with items on the menu and helped us decide on what the tastiest dishes were. We all enjoyed our food and basically cleared our plates with how good it was. My dad is losing his hearing so crowded places are hard, but we were placed at a perfect table and enjoyed the entire meal and could have conversations. A great way to start a Napa weekend is with a great Napa dinner and Angels Restaurant delivered. While it would have been nice for our entire party of 16 to sit together we were ok splitting up into two different tables with very different vibes. I got the table inside the main section of the restaurant and you could hear all the bustle and joy of everyone enjoying their night out in Napa. The food at these kinds of places need to live up to expectation. And for the most part it did! The oysters were really good. And the bread with butter was nice warm and divine. Honestly the appetizers were so filling I didn't really have much room for my entree by the time it arrived. I ordered the risotto and it was cooked perfectly and a wonderful cheesey delight. I ordered a veal scaloppine with mushrooms, expecting a French restaurant to offer Morell mushrooms but instead it was cremini mushrooms with a flavorless rice under the veal and mushrooms sauce. The muscles were very good but I would have lived to be offered some chili flakes for the tiny kick, since it the sauce was to light. The French fries were excellent and crispy, perfect for dipping. My frown has a Provençal bean salad. The pappardelle excellent but a bit more meat would have been awesome. The location is excellent and romantic right next to Napa river. The ambiance is dreamy, its so comfortable and warmly lit, that alone is worth a visit. To make it better they have a huge wine and drink list and affordable options too. We've been going to Angele about every few months for a few years - part of our Napa Valley restaurant rotation. Their outdoor dining is nice and their food is amazing. So naturally, when choosing a restaurant to celebrate my 50th birthday, they were one of my top choices. My husband reached out to Angele months ahead of time and because they said we could order off the regular menu for 12 people, we went with Angele. As soon as we learned it would be 14, they told us it would have to be a prefix menu (not our preference but we agreed since it was getting closer to the date and the guests were already invited). Additionally, we agreed to buy their wine rather than bring our own (again, not our preference but doable). During the process we had additional questions (ie adding a steak option to the prefix menu, when would we choose the wine, what would the menu choices be & whether we could add extra appetizers) but the event coordinator made it a little difficult to ask these questions as she avoided just doing a quick phone call vs emails going back and forth. Pretty frustrating and stressful when trying to plan. On the day of our dinner, we arrived 15 min late - 20 min by the time we sat down since a few of us had to use the restroom before sitting down and say our hellos to each other, etc. The restaurant then decided to charge us a late fee. This nickel & diming really is tacky for a restaurant of this caliber. When spending $4,800, I would have thought that they wouldn't have been such penny pinchers. If we had been 45 min late, that fee might have made more sense (MAYBE). To make things worse, the event coordinator sent my husband an email apologizing for the "miscommunication" regarding the late fee.. tacky and passive aggressive. Their food is wonderful -- but in the Napa Valley, there are a TON of other restaurants just as amazing and would appreciate people who choose their restaurant to host a large party. Angele will no longer be on our rotation. It's a fine place if you want to go to lunch or something but definitely go elsewhere if you're planning a special occasion dinner. read more
