My first time at Bouchon was for a 1:1 celebratory dinner on Mom's birthday on Friday, December 23, 2022. Mom had visited here years before and wanted to return. The fact that she wanted come back was an indicator that this restaurant would be a good experience as Mom has very high standards. According to Anthony Bourdain, "A bouchon is a uniquely Lyonnaise institution, a casual, laid-back kind of a pub/bistro with a limited, usually old-school menu and always, always an unpretentious vibe. People come here to unwind, to relax, and to eat with abandon." Bouchon is chef Thomas Keller's (The French Laundry) heartfelt homage to the traditional French bistro in Napa Valley's charming 1.5 square mile town of Yountville. Located across the street from V Marketplace on Washington Street, we easily found free parking in the lot adjacent to the market. The restaurant is housed in a cozy red building that sits right next door to its sibling bakery. Decorated with whites, reds and marble tones, the velvet banquette seating and polished brass accents pop out through the wood furnishings and mosaic floor design. Upon entry, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The place was buzzing with almost every table occupied in the tightly-seated dining room. The seasons dictate what's on offer at Bouchon. The menu features a variety of traditional French dishes that perfectly highlight the essence of bistro dining. Upon seating, we were served a complimentary ramekin of pistachios alongside some butter and pain d'épi, the classic "stalk of wheat" variation on the classic baguette. Below are what we ordered: Escargots de Bourgogne ($19.75) - Six Burgundy snails cooked in parsley-garlic butter, each topped with Bouchon Bakery's puff pastry, were all absolute perfection, as expected. Soupe à l'Oignon ($19.75) - A true test of a French bistro is its French onion soup, and Bouchon's comforting, piping hot bowl of caramelized sweet onions, savoury beef jus, topped with country bread and melted Comté cheese, did not disappoint. Served in a proper vessel? Yes. Baked with a toasted baguette slice and ooey, gooey cheese topper? Check. The flavour of the soup base was also richly robust. I couldn't decide between the Saumon Poêlé ($38.00) and the Steak Frites ($47.50). Since our waiter said that I could have a side of the sauce au poivre from the Poitrine de Boeuf au Poivre ($45.00) with the Steak Frites, I had to go this route as it's one of my favourites. No regrets at all on my choice; I savoured every bite of the delicious pan-seared prime flat iron steak topped with maitre d'hôtel butter and side of crispy French fries. The additional sauce au poivre was the cherry on top. Steak Frites truly is the quintessential bistro entrée and Bouchon's was excellent. Service was great. As a sweet birthday gift, Mom was given a pack of chocolate brownies, served on a plate alongside a lit candle to blow and make a wish. Dinner was remarkable. I'm not surprised that Mom chose to return here for her birthday dinner. I loved Bouchon so much that it's now my favourite restaurant in Napa Valley. You're asking for top dollar on everything coffee and pastries. You should make a little extra effort. Tips might be better too if you did. read more

Feels like a restaurant in France with the velvety red banquets and wait staff wearing black vests and white button downs. Darker lighting. But that's part of the mood. French onion soup was tasty. Plenty of cheese. Very hot. Steak Frites was a big portion. I split it with my son and we were both stuffed. A little generous with the butter slab on top of the steak, but that's very French. Took a short ride over to Yountville for lunch at Bouchon and lucked out with a beautiful day to sit outside. We started with the steak tartare, which was one of the best I've had in a while. Fresh, well-balanced, and packed with flavor. For lunch we went with the Croque Madame special with truffle fries and the gnocchi à la Parisienne. The Croque Madame was rich and satisfying, with a perfectly runny egg on top. And who doesn't love a pile of fries with little specks of truffle on them? The gnocchi was light and pillowy, served with peas, leeks, morel mushrooms, and a caramelized onion emulsion. The morels added a nice earthy depth to the dish. The sauce was just a touch salty for my taste, but if it had been dialed back a bit, this dish would have absolutely blown me away. The bread and butter way too easy to keep eating. Amazing French cuisine & lives up to the hype in my opinion! We had Friday night dinner reservations inside and it was very busy. Ambiance was perfect and service was quick and professional. We were celebrating our anniversary and they gave us complimentary champagne and a little handwritten card which was so thoughtful! We ordered the Escargot, 10/10 must try!! So buttery, herby and the puff pastry on top is such a great addition. The mussels come with French fries and are soaked in a white wine bath with the perfect amount of acidity. The fries are simple. House bread and butter and perfect to dip into all these sauces. The chicken was so juicy, cooked perfectly, over a bed of peas and gravy. Delicious and also a generous portion. For dessert the lemon tart was divine! Huge slice much bigger than expected. The hazelnut ice cream was also good but the lemon tart stole the show. This was our final meal spot for my birthday weekend in Yountville @Bouchon. We were both pleasantly surprised at the quality & portion size of our meal. Very happy we shared the meal. The Crevettes, aka Jumbo Prawns, we fresh and tasty. The salad was a meal in itself, delicious chunks of bacon lardons (pork belly) yumminess & the right amount of vinaigrette. The Steak Frites was cooked just right, a nice medium-rare and savory buttery on top. Frites were crispy, not overcooked and a nice compliment to the meal. We were able to make last minute reservations on Rest for Bouchon for lunch. They have about 10 parking stalls next to the restaurant or you can easily park across the street in the other parking lot. Service here is Top notch everyone was very professional and friendly. Its an amazing touch that our server spoke French. Great place for families, girls dining or date place. Interior seating is a little tight because it was busy but a great place to people watch. They had 3 types of oysters on special and we got the Kumamotos. They were delicious and fresh. We also had the steak frites and escargot, and cream brulee for dessert. Everything was delicious the steak was cooked perfectly and served with a generous portion of fries. The escargot has a pastry top and it was delicious as well perfect amount of garlic and butter. First time here and can't wait to go back! Yountville was such a cute town! My first time in Napa for work/pleasure. We had some time to shop around before heading back to Napa. I couldn't resist to come here for a quick drink aka Champagne. It was a fancy place with white tablecloths. I wish we had more time to sample some of their food. We had our server come over with some fresh bread and delicious silky-salted butter. I may have eaten more of the butter than the bread LOL. Plus it went perfect with my Champagne. I would definitely recommend coming here if you are in the area and suggest making reservations if they take them. It looks like a very upscale classy restaurant. I know we will be back for sure! I love coming here since we always have a great time. Love sitting at the bar since it's more lively. Service, from the hostesses to the bartender to the sommelier, is excellent. I'm so sad about our experience at Bouchon. Being a Thomas Keller restaurant with pricing that clearly reflects this, our expectations were high. The wine by the glass list was pretty small, which is shocking for being Napa adjacent. The shrimp and baguette were the best bites of the night. The baguette was fresh and soft and the shrimp were clearly high quality. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal fell flat. The gnudi lacked flavor and the steak was just ok. I never mind dropping money on great dinner, but to walk out with a 500 dollar bill and such an underwhelming experience was sad. Not to mention, the restaurant was SO hot. My husband and I repeatedly mentioned how hot we were, needing to step outside more than once to cool down. Bouchon has lived up to the hype ! We visited Bouchon on a Saturday night (make reservations weeks in advance!) I made note that it was our anniversary on the reservation and also that I had a nut allergy. We were quickly seated when we got to the restaurant and was also given a card and complimentary champagne which was nice. It is definitely very crowded inside and you are right next to the people around you - but overall didn't affect my experience too much, except when I had to use the restroom. We were quickly greeted by our server who noted that I had a nut allergy and already alerted the kitchen. This small gesture meant so much to me and I was taken aback that he read the notes (since I usually need to remind the server while ordering my food). We went straight to ordering the main appetizers since they gave us bread and I wanted to save room for dessert:) I ordered the steak & frites and my bf ordered the scallops dish (special menu item). They both came out quickly and were so tasty! The fries were crispy and the steak was so tender and the butter on top was seasoned perfectly. The scallops were also tasty, cooked well and the sauce was perfectly paired. Our waters were always filled and the employees ensured that we were taken care of throughout the night. For dessert we got 3 of the 4 items. The desserts came out quickly as well and were all delicious! I highly recommend the profiteroles that came with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce - a perfect way to end a meal! It's been over a decade since I rated Bouchon but rest assured not a year passes that I don't find myself drawn to this Yountville classic. Talk about the test of time. The kitchen continues to deliver consistently great food and the flavors are always spot on. The salmon Rillettes is my goto with a glass of bubbles or an expertly made cocktail. The steak frites never disappoints (but they have cut down the amount of fries they serve at least that's what my pics over the years show). Call it birthday luck, but my friend and I were able to get a table on a packed night and had a wonderful meal. The Joly Select oysters were some of the best I've had, and the rosé of Pinot Noir by the glass paired perfectly. The rainbow trout was beautifully done, and the escargot was buttery and fresh. The only thing I'd order differently next time is the steak frites. It was fine, but everything else stood out more, and I'd go for the mussels instead. The room is lively with beautiful wood interiors and can get a bit loud, but it didn't take away from the experience. This was my second visit to Bouchon and it was my partner's first time eating here. We had to celebrate our first triathlon as well as my birthday at this location. The server was attentive and our waters were constantly filled. We ordered the deviled eggs, chicken along with the steak and fries. The ambiance was nice and comfortable and we got a private table forh te two of us near the entrance. The food was scrumptious and perfectly cooked. We have no complaints there. We were about to get the check and leave until the server said we couldn't forget the dessert and so we enjoyed a well-made crème brûlée. I had a lovely lunch at Bouchon with my parents. While not all the dishes we tried were exemplary, some were truly standout. The meal began with some warm, complimentary bread, accompanied by butter and mustard. We then ordered the Laitue ($18; bibb lettuce, garden herbs, house vinaigrette), ouefs mimosa ($8.50; four deviled eggs), soupe a l'oignon ($26; caramelized sweet onions with beef jus, country bread, and comte cheese), moules au safran ($45; Maine bouchot mussels steamed with white wine, Dijon mustard, and saffron, served with French fries), Gnocchi a la Parisienne ($29; sauteed gnocchi with winter vegetables), and a side of haricots verts ($12). The mussels were the star of the show - amazingly tender and flavorful (in fact, they're the best I've ever had). I also loved the Laitue salad - very simple, but the lettuce was very soft and the vinaigrette was delicious. My least favorite dish was probably the gnocchi; it was still well done, but the gnocchi was a little too mushy for my liking. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. The restaurant was intimate and cozy but bustling. There is a free parking lot adjacent to the restaurant, and we were lucky enough to find a spot. We had the best bartender helping us out. I believe his name was Luis. Not only was he super attentive, very knowledgeable about the drinks and the food, but also entertaining. This place is good, but you definitely need a reservation. It's pretty packed and small inside, which is probably why walk-ins only get bar seating. There's patio seating, but in the winter it gets cold but they have heaters. They give complimentary bread to start off with. Mussels and onion soup were my favorite. The mussel broth was especially good. The size of the clams in the seafood section were kind of small but still sweet. The beef tartare was just okay. The crème brûlée with vanilla bean custard was great, not too sweet but still creamy and a good caramelized top. Bouchon Bakery is also next door so you can get some pastries or bread there. This is one of our favorite stops when we visit the Napa Valley. Everything here is delicious but our favorites and definite recommendations would be the almond croissant, Kouign-amann, oh-oh (their take on a Ho-Ho but WAY better), and a traditional baguette. If there is a line, just be patient because the cafe is small but the staff are fast. Such a nice little treat before wine tasting! Came here after getting kicked out of the French Laundry for not having a reservation. Rookie mistake *bahahaha* but the lady at the front desk recommended their sister restaurant Bouchon. We were greeted by a cheerful well dressed hostess and seated promptly even without a reservation. It is a very lively atmosphere and the service was immaculate. They offer patio, bar, or inside seating. We wanted to stop in for a snack and the waiter kindly obliged. Went with the oysters west coast only bc thats what i prefer. Friend got the deviled eggs. I enjoyed the lively air conditioned atmosphere after being at a Farm Fest all day in the mountains of Mt Helena. I liked their hot complimentary bread with all the spreads to start and their private brand of bottled still water bc i can't stand sparkling. Had an amazing dinner on a Tuesday night at 6:00 in 5/2026. We are glad we sat outside because the dining room was very loud and hectic. Tables seemed to be very close together. In contrast, the patio area was serene and lovely. Service: every single detail was 100% impeccable! One of the best services we've had anywhere. Food: fantastic! This is my third time here. This time with a baby. We made resos with highchair. We walked in, they said oh the seats we have for you don't fit the highchair can you sit outside? We've sat outdoors with our pup, it's cute but cramped as well. So we opted to just have the baby on our lap for indoor seating. But not baby friendly lol. Take it to go or leave your babies at home I guess. We got French onion soup, escargots, steak frite x2, poulet roti, and mashed potato. Service was not it this time. Decided to dine here for lunch and ordered the lamb shank special, mussels, escargot & truffle fries for table sharing for 2. The lamb shank was very tender and flavorful! Went for Mother's Day brunch and it was alright. Wife had waffles and a croque madame. Waffles were good, on the thinner side which is preferred as it gives a better crunch ratio. The crème, berry, and maple topping was otherwise average. The croque madame came with fries that were perfectly cooked but unfortunately while the croque looked beautiful it tasted way too buttery. Overwhelming truffle and butter flavor. It was cut by very salty ham but needing something else. I had the gnudi which was cooked well. No complaints. The roast beef was also cooked very well. They gave three small medallions. Overall not worth the $200+. I also spent $80 at the bakery next door the day before and most of the items were quite forgettable. One house in Benicia beats it by miles and it doesn't have a stupid line out the door. read more

Bouchon Bistro is probably my favorite lunch spot in Napa Valley. I first dined here after arriving too late on a weekday to visit the bakery, and that solo dining experience was among the best meals I have ever had. It's owned by the same restaurant group as The French Laundry, with a more laid-back atmosphere and accessible menu. When the weather is nice I love sitting on the patio, which is semi-private behind a thick hedge, but the inside is just like a Parisian bistro-- and just as intimate. Service is always impeccable, but warm and friendly as well. I especially love the seemingly endless epi baguettes and butter they serve (and packed into our to-go bag). All of the food I have had has been delicious, but I especially love their mashed potatoes: the butter to potato ratio is really unbelievable. If I have anything to complain about, it's that my recent steak was a bit chewy, but the flavor was incredible. In short, I think the Bouchon Bistro is an unmissable lunch or dinner spot on any Napa trip. read more

Bouchon was such a special treat for my first visit, especially during Restaurant Month. We went for lunch and everything hit. We ordered the escargot, the salad, the steak, and the truffles, and honestly it was all so good. I had a French 75 with it, which was the perfect pairing. The waiter was amazing super attentive and made the whole experience feel even more enjoyable. The restaurant itself is adorable and cozy, right in the heart of Yountville, which makes it feel extra special. Plus, the bakery is literally right next door, so that's a huge bonus. Michelle checked us in and she was doing the best she can despite how busy it was with people trying to get a reservation. We were a walk in and were lucky to get in on a Saturday night, but it was a 1.5 hour wait. As we watched others get seated before us, I started to get super hungry. Bsapp saved our experience here at Bouchon. Super lively and energetic server. Our wait time was what felt about 10 years because we didn't eat all day and everything around town was closing. I'm glad we got to eat some good food! Bsapp was hilarious he said let's get you some food and he started us off with some bread and butter. We ordered a few dishes that he recommended and then told us the order they would arrive, which felt planned out. I liked it. The beef tartare (2/5), felt a little sour for my liking. Escargot (4/5) tasted great but something was missing. French onion soup was incredible (5/5), the taste was fresh, rich, not too salty, perfectly balanced. The GNOCCI WAS (5/5) - our favorite dish and our waiter recommended it. It had freshly shaved truffle omg, consistency was so good and he recommended we paired it with creamed corn. After being seated we opted for the oysters, just be prepared it can be a pit pricey if your choice is to have more than 6. I was not even paying attention, and it showed at the end of the meal in the form of what was on the tab. :-) I guess I thought it was just going to dissapear. Lol- Moving on, we both opted for different items. Of course our first course was with some bubbly...bubbly bubbly bubbly :) I opted for the Poulet Rôti roasted chicken. This was served with pommes Lyonnaise, caramelized onions & chicken ju. My friend she ordered the Saumon Poêlé pan-seared Scottish salmon with French green lentils,matignon of root vegetables & red wine j. Quite honestly, I wish I would of ordered this, it was more my style and loved the way they prepared it. We hared some sauteed spinach I believe. It was a wonderful meal, glad that I am able to go to establisments like this every once in a Blue Moon. Speaking of which, I did not have a Blue Moon at all. :-) When you are in wine country and close to Yountville and Napa, please stop here, make sure you make reservations!! Bouchon may have lost its Michelin star, but it still delivered everything you could want from a Michelin restaurant -- impeccable food, cohesive atmosphere, and even a French chef who visits the table to explain what you're about to eat! The French-inspired decor is both rich and regal; deep reds and dark woods really sell the royal-chateau vibe. The menu is expensive but not break-the-bank pricey; it was perfect for a special day out of wine tasting. I had the roasted chicken, which could not have been better -- crispy skin, juicy meat, and plenty of gravy. I also had bites of the mussels and fries, which was the real star -- cloves of melt-in-your-mouth garlic spread over the table bread were an absolute treat. I ordered a cocktail, which was just fine -- I would pass on it next time for a glass of wine. That is, after all, what Napa is famous for! Service - excellent. Food - superb. Bouchon Bistro is always a wonderful experience, from the warm hospitality to the consistently high level of service. The staff is attentive without being overbearing, making the meal feel relaxed yet refined every time. The food never disappoints. The steak tartare will always be my favorite. Finely chopped beef that's rich and buttery, perfectly seasoned, and balanced with capers, shallots, and egg yolk. It's classic, clean, and executed exactly how it should be. My husband ordered the American-style breakfast and it was massive. Eggs cooked well, crispy bacon, savory sausage, toast, and a buttery Danish that rounded everything out. Definitely satisfying and great value for the portion. The Epi bread deserves its own mention. Warm, crusty, and fragrant, it's one of those small details that makes Bouchon feel special and sets the tone for the entire meal.
