This place came highly recommended, so we decided to make our way up to the rooftop bar. You enter through the hotel lobby and take the elevator to the top. The hotel itself looked stylish and inviting, and the rooftop seemed like a great spot to relax with a cocktail while enjoying the views. Unfortunately, we had another commitment and didn't have time to stay for a drink, but I'm glad we stopped by to check it out. Sky & Vine has one of the best rooftop locations in downtown Napa. The open-air setting, city views, and overall ambiance make it a great spot to relax and take in the skyline. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the setting. While I was seated quickly, everything after that was slow. I ordered a passionfruit cheesecake, which arrived without utensils or a napkin, and getting a server's attention afterward was nearly impossible. I even noticed a nearby couple struggling to get service as well. The dessert was fine, but not enough to make up for the experience. I eventually walked up to the bar to pay and left after only a few bites. We were in town for an early morning Gondola ride down the Napa River and decided to make reservations at this rooftop restaurant. It's on top of the Archer Hotel. We were impressed by the hotel modern decor. We were seated immediately, and greeted by our server Gavin , a super cool and friendly guy ! The food was served in a timely manner . Our drinks were served first and very delicious! The breakfast sandwich was delicious and served with a medley of colorful potatoes which were slightly overcooked. I wouldn't order those again. We enjoyed the music selection of the live DJ and the relaxing atmospheres, however, personally I was disappointed with the view. I was expecting a nice view of the City but unfortunately from the angle we had, there were only beige buildings and construction. The view could be a highlight, though it's currently a bit obstructed by nearby construction cranes, which takes away slightly from the full rooftop appeal. Service was a touch slow at times, but the staff made up for it by being attentive and engaged once they got to you. The wine selection stands out - short, solid variety and the option to sample at the bar makes it easy to find exactly what you like. The bartender is knowledgeable too, who was able to guide toward a full-bodied Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that nicely hit the mark. The burger came out impressively large with two patties. View is super nice especially when the weather is nice. It's a nice hangout spot but wish service was better. Drinks took over 20 minutes (for their signature cocktails). Food came out fairly quick but drinks took so long that we finished our food before we could even get our drinks. When we tried looking for our server to cancel our drinks at this point, they were nowhere to be seen and there was only one other table besides us. The food was ok definitely not great and probably wouldn't come back here for food. Wings were extremely dry and needed some sort of sauce. Fries were better. This spot is definitely worth a stop if you're exploring downtown Napa. We visited on a Saturday around 11am and it wasn't overly crowded, which made for a relaxed experience. They offer a full bar with tabletop seating, plus a spacious covered outdoor area and a separate section with lounge-style seating and tables. Many of the seating areas have great views of Napa and the surrounding mountains, which really adds to the overall vibe. Service was solid. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. We didn't try any food this time and stuck to drinks. The Moscow mules were excellent, though a bit on the pricey side. This is a lovely space on the roof of the archer hotel. As you walk in, you look out beyond and see tree tops, and hills. Although to the right, there is now a crane for a hotel going up over there. :-) We were seated under the space heaters which provided comfortable warmth. Our server was friendly and attentive, but quite ignorant on the menu. This is not her fault, but a training issue. If there is something on the menu to which she does not know the answer, then she should offer to go and get the answer. When we ask, what kind of steak is the Wagyu steak? She answered it is "Wagyu". When we then asked what cut of meat is the steak, she replied "Wagyu". We gave up. My wife and I had the margherita pizza and a glass of Pinot and a glass of cider. All of these were pretty good. We also had the Romanesco. If you ask, then you will learn the secret item which is the truffle fries. Yum! Our host ordered the Ahi Nicoise salad. The slices of fish look nicely done, but since this is supposed to be sashimi quality, there should be no bones. On finding a bone in her food, she declined to keep eating. I would have sent it back, but she didn't want to do that. I was pretty surprised to be given a plate with two clear chips in it. I think this is a place that wants to make it right so I wouldn't let that necessarily turn you away. read more

Myself and four other people arrived Saturday around 8 PM. Just wanted to have a nightcap. So plenty of empty tables upstairs and no one would allow us to sit down. After some negotiating back-and-forth, they were able to set this by a fireplace. There was only five of us. And we said we're not here to eat. We're just gonna have one cocktail and or a glass of wine and we're all out. One check no big deal. Got my bill no one told me that they had added a 20% gratuity for party of six. Now mind you there was only five of us. Did not realize that till I got home that they had the 20% gratuity added so I did another 20% thinking be a nice person. Once I reviewed my bill, I saw two extra charges for drinks that we did not have. So five drinks I ended up paying $166. Watch your bill before you sign it. That's what I learned. Keep an eye out for automatic 20% gratuity added regardless if your party is a five people. read more

We are staying at the archer and heard good things about sky and Vine because it's a rooftop and after a day of being out in the valley, we wanted something convenient to go to after coming back to the hotel. We were sat at one of the ledge tables that overlooked a very large parking lot and we were told that the heaters were on by us because it was kind of chilly and I don't think they were. Our server was nice, but I think she was very overwhelmed from the looks of it because I think they were understaffed so she wasn't as attentive as you would expect. We ordered two drinks and they were just OK. The Old-fashioned wasn't really an old-fashioned and my drink looked good on the menu and got it and it was very sweet and I only drink half of it. We ordered a Niçoise yellow tuna salad, and olives for an appetizer, and the salad just had random raw vegetables on it with chunks of seared yellowfin tuna, and the olives was a very large portion, but there were nothing special. We also ordered the truffle fries, which were probably the best thing that we ordered out of all of the things. For the entrée, my husband ordered the brisket sandwich and I ordered the fresh catch which was Alaskan salmon both were just OK. Considering that this place is in a high-end hotel we had higher expectations for it, and the prices were also very high. The food that was very mid range and wasn't very good. It is a very convenient spot coming back from the wineries and having it at our hotel it does have a lot of potential because it is a rooftop and it does have a bar with sports playing, but overall, I wasn't very impressed. If you're like me, you read through many of the low scoring reviews to see if it's worth making the trip. Some reviewers complain of spotty service and high priced mediocre food. However, there's plenty of five star reviews that convinced us to give it a try. We got there at 4 PM on a Tuesday afternoon which means we got to sit at the bar with the view. We noticed it was taco and tequila Tuesday, so that was the direction we went. The menu here is more geared towards the drinks than it is the food due to the limited food menu. The average craft cocktail is over $20 and wines by the glass aren't cheap either. However, if you're sitting on the roof of the Archer hotel in downtown Napa, what do you expect? We started with two margaritas and six tacos (note: they don't make frozen margaritas). For the meal, we went with the SV dble cheese and the seared tuna nicious salad. Despite the potato bun and fresh veggies on the burger, it seems the beef patties were previously frozen just like the fries. It definitely does not top my list of favorite burgers of all time. The sky Vine rooftop bar is a special place in Napa. It overlooks the Napa Valley skyline and it's a great place that's a change from all the surrounding restaurants in the area. Prices are a little pricey, but is comparable to the other restaurants in the area. I don't love their food. It's elevated bar food but at the end of the day I t's just bar food. I like going here to catch up with friends and hang out because they not only have dining tables and a bar area, they also have a little lounge area with a fire pit. Definitely a drink spot and catch up, maybe even a first state. I don't overly love the food, but it's good to have for a snack. read more
