Bouillon Pigalle was one of the restaurants on our list recommended by food vloggers. Since we saved Montmartre for the backend of our trip in Paris, this restaurant also was one of the final sit-downs we had in the city. We've already been in town for 2 weeks, so at this point my fiancé and I are getting burnt out from traditional French food. It was a relief to find that Bouillon Pigalle had a good variety. I thought that the service was great. Food came out in a timely manner, and our server was way more attentive than the average server at French restaurants. This was also one of the first places I saw where you could pay on mobile by scanning a QR code and even split the bill. For my starter I had the homemade tarama. Paris was the first time I tried tarama and was hooked. Admittedly I only had tarama at one other restaurant, but I saw that Bouillon Pigalle offered it so I had to get it. The cod roe was blended really smoothly like a cream. My fiancé had French onion soup, which was par for the course. I ordered the chicken thigh plate with fries, and my fiancé got steak and fries. First of all, their fries were great. Secondly, I really liked how both meats were prepared. The chicken was tender and pulled right off the bone, and the steak reminded me of a good ol' American steak. It was all so comforting and exactly what I needed at the end of my trip. read more

I love this place! In Paris for one night and this is where we ended up for dinner - Friday night date night! We got there around 6pm and didn't have to wait for a table. We had a choice of seats and chose to sit upstairs. By the time we left, the place was packed and there was quite a line waiting outside. Onion soup, foie gras, grilled chicken leg, tender beef cheek... all were great. Instead of wine, we opted for the silver beer with French lemonade. Very good! The 1.5 liter "magnum" pitcher was too much for two of us to finish but we made a valiant effort. We left full, happy and satisfied. A post-dinner walk to the nearby Sacré-Cœur Bacilica was the perfect way to let the food settle. The Bouillon-Pigalle is worth a bookmark in my book. read more

Bouillon is 100% a scam & their food is disgusting. Yes it's cheap -- cheap for a reason! The food is low quality & so is the wine. We had spoiled cheese here, stale bread, rotting wine (there's a reason why the wine is poured into glass bottles before with no label), grisly steak, soggy fries, and salty pepper sauce. This is not real French. Our stomachs hurt after this meal. The service was awful and the restaurant itself is dirty. SCAM SCAM SCAM! Well, the food was okay...but the MANAGER of the line outside tried to accuse us of cutting the line. She was adamant, and tried to get us to go to the back. Her little lap-dog helper refused to acknowledge that he had told us to 'avance' several times, instead saying 'I never saw them before'. Complete incompetence and rudeness. We went here after watching the show at Moulin Rouge so we were here about 30 minutes before they closed. No line and the server hurried is too order because the kitchen was closing. Perhaps that's why the food was subpar? I like to think so. Their drinks come in different sizes here, enough to share for a group up to 3 liters of wine and soft drinks, etc. We got a litre of FRENCH LEMONADE to share and we had leftovers. It was delicious and refreshing and not mouth puckering like what we have in the states. for starters, we got the BONE MARROW & FISH RILLETTE... the bone marrow was bland but luckily had salt with it. The fish rilette was tasteless... We used the salt from the bone marrow dish to help with it as well. Both dishes came with stale, hard bread. Definitely not something I would recommend so SKIP THEM. The only good thing from our meal was the BURGUNDY BEEF STEW which is what their place is named after. It was delicious and soft meat on a bed of tiny pasta. This French onion soup was amazing. I decided to check out one of the restaurants that I recommended to my friend during my Paris restaurant research. I started with the French onion soup and it was amazing. I loved the deep bold flavors in the soup and the slice of bread instead of cubes of bread was a great touch that worked! The combination of the cheese, bread, and onions were a great pairing. The queue to get in is usually long. The AC inside is not the greatest so it is pretty warm in here. The prices are amazing though. 10-20 euros per person. Service is eh and the tables are close to one another, so there is not a lot of privacy from one table to another. For my main course I got the steak frites it was good. The fries were really crispy though but I liked it. Steak was nothing extraordinary but it was good. Overall it was a good meal and the prices are amazing for Paris. You get a great value for what you are paying. read more

We had a 12pm lunch reservation and was initially startled by the long line forming outside when we arrived at 11:40am. Luckily, when the restaurant opened at 12pm, we walked to the front and told them we had a reservation; without even confirming our name, they allowed us to be seated. The decor is pretty, the tables are about 6 inches apart, and it became pretty loud as the lunch crowd filled the restaurant. We ordered the snails which arrived in under 10 minutes; the sauce was tasty and so we had high hopes for the mains. We then waited ~50 minutes from the time of the appetizer arrival to the time our main dishes arrived. We ordered the chicken thighs and beef bourguignon, both of which arrived lukewarm. The chicken thigh was a bit dry although the fries were crispy. I thought there was not enough sauce in the bourguignon dish given the amount of pasta, so this also ate a bit dry. Our lunch total was €29. You can pay by scanning the table's QR code however there is a little surcharge with it as opposed to paying at the front of the restaurant. I saw our server refusing to help the adjacent table's payment, and instead told them to use the QR code, thereby forcing them to pay the extra surcharge. I think this place is great for relatively inexpensive French dishes but the service and the food quality could be improved. read more

The duck breast with orange sauce was too tough to cut , even with sharp knife they provided. I prefer duck confit. Leaving Bouillon Pigalle very disappointed. I ordered a couple of items. The food was actually not bad. The escargot were flavorful, the duck was tender and well seasoned. Did not enjoy the onion soup nor the steak. However, the service brought the culinary experience down significantly. Service 0. No one greeted us upon entering and we had to ask to be seated after a several minutes. I had to go look for someone. The server then proceeded to take the order of every table around us, skip us, and then begin setting up tables. It was only after I attempted to ask for our order to be taken that he asked me to wait 2 minutes. He proceeded to make us wait another 10. Our interactions were very awkward and unfriendly. I understand that waiters get busy and even cultural differences in service, but I don't think we were being unreasonable, especially since this restaurant receives so many tourists. Don't sleep on this restaurant! A local and tourist favorite restaurant experience. Yes it is an experience and not only is the food good and homey but the experience as a whole warrants a visit. With some of the best prices anywhere in the city to try as much or as little traditional French classic foods as you want. I wish they had wine available when you wait as some reviews mentioned as that would have added to the experience but I must say the sangria that we ordered was very good here. Try the beef bouillon (their specialty), duck confit & potatoes, fois gras, escargot TIP: Come early, the lines wrap around the outside of the store during prime dining hours! Beef Bouillon: tender beef pieces in a thick, tomato base, served on top of mini macaroni. A comforting stew dish, especially to be enjoyed in the cold winter weather. Duck Confit & Potatoes (my favorite dish of the night!): juicy duck served with small, crispy potato cubes that are topped with mouthwatering, melted duck fat. Fois Gras: duck liver spread served with bread and a sweet onion chutney--worth trying if you can't get this delicacy where you live. The onion chutney pairs well with the fois gras as the light sweetness cuts the salty, fatty liver. Escargot: snails with a nice charred flavor, served in a light garlic butter sauce. Absolutely loved this place. They had a wide variety of French dishes at a fair price and everything was delicious. The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is pleasing. The restaurant is pretty big, but the wait can still be long because of how many people come to eat here. While on vacation (visiting Paris for my second time) I was determined to find some of the best food in Paris! I had seen amazing reviews we this place and figured I would give it a shot. Well we showed up on a Saturday night and waiting for about 90 mins! However, if I visit Paris again I intend to do the whole thing over again! Every single thing I ate was absolutely delicious. I ordered the duck confit which was perfectly cooked and paired with these perfectly crisp potatoes. My boyfriend ordered the Burgundy beef which was tender and flavorful! We came here after reading about this spot in the recent NY Times article about inexpensive Paris bistros. Despite being in the midst of Moulin Rouge tourist madness, this place still had a good mix of young locals and visitors. I assume the NY Times set will grow over time as well. This place is thankfully easy for non-French speakers. Just enter the lobby and join the cue. As you get closer to the front, hosts will start working to fit diners into the dining room based on party size. Like a lot of places in Paris, the restaurant makes an English menu available. This does not really ensure that wait staff are fluent, by any means. Our waiter mixed up the words for lamb, beef, and chicken and brought out the wrong order to us twice. Prices were fairly cheap so the meals are not huge and meats are not great quality. French onion soup tasted great but the cheese on top was overbroiled and really difficult to eat. Escargot were lacking taste. The chicken leg poulette was good, served with nice mushrooms and in a tasty cream sauce. My other half didn't like his (hanger?) "beefsteak" -- too tough, apparently. Drinks are sold by volume, though, so soda, beer, and wine lovers will get some pleasure from the deals available here. Even with the NYT's endorsement, I honestly don't know that I'd go out of my way for this place, but it's a solid choice if you're in the area and find yourself without a reservation anywhere else. The pros of this place is that it's very cheap food. I went twice and the food was acceptable each time. However, they're so ornery about tables if you can make a reservation I would suggest doing so to help minimize waiting in line. The second time I went my waiter was so rude because I ordered a starter and a dessert instead of an entree. Again, the prices are so cheap it's not like he missed out on a huge bill from me. The single absolute worst "steak" I've ever had, this steak was so bad it should be a crime to call it a steak. It was extremely well-done, and may as well have been cooked by boiling it. I took a few bites, couldn't get through any more of it, ate some fries, and settled with some wine because the wait was so long to get in it seemed like a waste if I didn't. It's the kind of place you find in the States (fast service, high dining experience,touristy touch.) They had an English menu and a young waiter that spoke perfect English. They start you with a bread basket. Very fresh! We had cocktails that had to be 90% alcohol. And had the escargot. I was beyond nervous to try and kept think I will catch a parasite or something but when it came out in this garlic sauce bed it was hard to resist. Here is the trick to eating them (i had to improv) 1. Use claw to flip upside down. 2. Give it a shake or 2 3. Use your tiny fork to yank the snail out Boom! You shucked your first escargot. It tastes like a meaty mushroom if I were to describe it. For the main I had the steak and fries and it was beautifully cook. Bouillon was on our list to try since we've heard so much about. We were are excited & anxious to try. The min, we get there. There was a bit of a line not too bad like 25min wait. Once in the atmosphere was over crowded & seemed hustle. Our waiter started out nice until we politely ask him for butter in French. He took forever to get our butter since our kids were tired & extremely hungry. We then ask the host if we can get some butter he says that it will be up to our waiter. Our waiter finally came over & was really upset & seemed upset & says to us "there's only one of me & there's a lot of you" in a very rude manner. We would have been ok if he approached us in a different way but to be rude in front of our kids. We usually give extra tips since we know that tips is part of the service but in this case my wife says do not tip him. He was very rude about it made our lunch feel unpleasant. Anyways when our food came out along with our silverwares. Let me tell you our silverwares was unwashed (look at the attached photos) makes me think how my food was prepped, we were all so hungry we all chomp in. All & all we the food look better than it taste we had a bunch of left overs. Not because we couldn't finished it but it didn't taste good & the Boullion meat we got was tough to chew It look as if we all didn't touched it. It was big portions for the price I get it but the food was not good even though we were all hungry. In this case we usually feel bad for leaving a lot of left over not to waste food & offend the restaurant but at this point we careless due to our bad experience with the waiter & our bad experience here period.
