Only our second time here, but won't be our last as long as they stay in business. Went here during the Fourth of July week and it was surprisingly empty. Great for us, but not so good for this brewing company. The food was good, but our server was even better. Went in with a large group and everyone enjoyed their meal. A stop here is appropriate coming back from Hoover Dam. Boulder Dam Brewing is located just a few miles from it. Just take Route 93 back to Vegas. It has a good beer selection for somewhere that's not too big. The bar also has food like burgers and salsa. If you go to Hoover Dam from Vegas, you typically choose to bypass Boulder City. Instead you should go the scenic route through this cool town. The brewery is located on the historic Nevada Way. It doesn't have its own parking lot, but there's lots of street parking in the downtown area. The brewery isn't that large, but it's not often too crowded inside. It also has a patio which gives the crowds somewhere else to go. The patio is often busy especially for trivia nights, which are Thursdays. Beer is about $6 a pint, which is average for craft beers. I like the Powder Monkey Pilsner. This is easy to drink and real smooth. Food selection isn't terrific but it has stuff that compliments beer. The chips and salsa is about $6 and comes in a large portion. This is a good reason why you should visit Boulder City. It's a nice town and you can enjoy it from the patio, with a beer. I wanted to like this place, and support a small business, but just can't do it. It was a beautiful day out, but all of the patio seats were full so we sat at the bar, which was ok, not their fault. But, it was humid and stuffy inside. We had a Groupon for 2 flights and a growler. No one took our order for at least 10 minutes after sitting down. When the girl came over, we ordered our flights and said we were ordering food. She said "just a minute" and left to take an order at a table behind us. But, those people had been waiting longer than us. She came back with flights about 15 minutes later and took our order. About 40 minutes later, our food came out. We split the Reuben. It had good meat on it, but zero sauce or dressing, no cheese, and barely warmed bread. The fries were shoestring, burnt, and crumbs. Like tiny pieces at the bottom of a McDonald's fries. It was mediocre ar best. My husband didn't like any beer enough to get a growler but that was ok. They offered to give us the equivalent of 4 beers, but they don't sell bottles, so we'd have to drink them there, so we declined. It was a nice offer. The kicker though was with Groupon an 18% gratuity is added, so for one sandwich with fries it was $26, plus the $20 Groupon, it was a $46 lunch! To be forced to give an 18% tip was galling. We should have yelped the joint before we ate there. Anyway, we won't be back. There's a few other higher rated places down the street. read more

The kids and I visited Boulder Dam Brewing Co on a Saturday morning. We were able to get right in and grab a seat, but before noon there was a wait to be seated. This place has some pretty neat atmosphere with giant drums of different beers behind the bar and old equipment from the building of Hoover Dam. It's pretty typical bar food with burgers, wings, and salads the mainstay of the menu. I got the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger which I ordered medium but came out well done but it was still good. The bacon was chewy, but again still good. The fries were amazing! I love whatever seasoning they use to make them slightly sweet. The kids got the chicken finger meal which includes two big chicken fingers, lots of fries and a drink ($6.95) and a hot dog meal which was big with fries and a drink ($6.95). Walked in with a party of 3 at 4:30 on a Sunday and it was reasonably busy outside but not inside. I asked the hostess if we could sit outside and her response was "I think it's full out there. I'm not sure I haven't been outside in 30 minutes." Which is a very strange response. We were told to sit where we like inside. 10 minutes goes by (I timed it) and we were not even acknowledged once. We came here after a long hike to kill time before our flight out of vegas. We were a little disappointed with how small their collection of available beers were but we understand that's how things are with COVID. Many of them sounded good so we decided to order a "six shooter" and sample six different brews for $12. This was perfect because there were some that both my husband and I wanted to try. Or server also told us we could substitute a Shandy for one of the beers if we wanted to; so we did since neither of us like IPAs. Next we looked over the food menu; so many choices. We focused on the appetizers and couldn't decide so we asked the server what his favorites were. He recommended the fried mushroom, so we went with that & they did not disappoint. There were so many of them and they were huge! There was also a lot of breading which we did not mind, and a sauce for dipping which was OK. We also chose to get the fried cheese curds. They were really good, and again a large portion. I wasn't crazy about the marinara dipping sauce, so I ate them plain; still tasty! After our Six Shooter was finished we decided to order more beer. My husband ordered the Craythur Irish Ale because he enjoyed the sample, and I ordered a blueberry wheat that was one of their guest beers. They came out fast & were nice and cold & served in large classes. However, I do remember that the shandy I got tasted great. PERFECT beer to lemonade ratio. I mean this drink was good. My friend ordered me food but I didn't eat any of it. I took one bite of the very delicious fries but that's about all I could do. The food looked really good and my friend seemed to enjoy what he was eating. I can say that by the 3rd time I had to run to the bathroom I learned that both are pretty clean and large. The staff are friendly and the place is filled with locals. They have multiple kinds of beer but we really liked the Pilsner and the cider. We shared food starting with the chips with queso and salsa. A fair warning if you love heat then order this, otherwise be prepared to sweat. This came as a surprise, but their queso and salsa definitely have a kick to them, which I loved. We also shared their signature wings with their homemade sauce. Unfortunately they do not sell their sauce, which was super disappointing. But the wings are of average size, it's the suave that makes it! Stopped here for lunch and a beer on our way through from visiting the Hoover Dam. First I'd like to say our server was SUPER friendly; the other 2 gentlemen working were also very friendly and pleasant. Aside from having to wait a while for our check, the initial service we received was great, even though the restaurant was completely full, so that was a big plus. The lower rating is because of their beer and food. My husband and I are big into the craft beer scene and even brew ourselves with some award-winning recipes, so I'd like to think we know quite a bit about beer. The beer here was very disappointing. I had the Powder Monkey Pilsner which had a strong lemon taste, which is not a flavor typically associated with a Pilsner style beer. It was drinkable, but felt more like I was drinking sugarless lemonade. My husband had the French Press Stout, which was thin and had a weird sourness to it. Much improvement is needed for the beer unfortunately. The food was decent, but honestly tasted no different than going to Denny's. Would prefer them to actually strip down their menu and maybe just focus on wood fired pizzas with maybe some salad options and of course a brewery staple, pretzels and beer cheese (which they did have pretzel bites w/ beer cheese; it was okay). To share our story - we sat at the bar and tested a few samples and found thatTyler the bartender /assistant manager not know his beers but entertaining beyond our expectations. We got there late so the restaurant was on the empty side but with Tyler creating the atmosphere- it felt as though the place was packed. We both ordered the pastrami sandwich and since that was Tyler's favorite he fixed it the way he would prepare it for himself. It was beyond amazing.
