We came to Boulder City for the antique malls and decided to try a random diner for brunch. The Coffee Cup had a line out the door this past Sunday, so we had to join the crowd and see what the hype was about. 25 minutes was worth the wait. With little to no background, we were surprised at all of the "As seen on Food Network" labels next to several menu items. It was hard to choose with so many lunch and breakfast options, but we settled on the Godfather Omelette with a waffle and the Meatloaf & Eggs. The Godfather was like a pizza inside of eggs. A very generous and tasty portion. The upgraded side of a waffle was well worth the price; fluffy, thick, and well flavored of vanilla. It's honestly a perfected classic, and the best waffle we've had in a while. The Meatloaf & Eggs were also great. The waitresses were so kind and personable. Very well equipped to handle a crowd and acquaintanced with many locals, addressing them by name. Our coffees and waters were consistently topped. We loved sitting at the counter and watching everyone. Fantastic service in this classic American breakfast diner. While visiting Las Vegas, the Fat Man and his wife took a drive out to the Hoover Dam and stopped off in Boulder City to try The World Famous Coffee Cup Cafe. This is a family-owned, family-run staple breakfast and lunch destination for locals and people around the globe. It has also been featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. I had the Papa Con Chili Verde with hashbrowns. This dish is made with Pork Chili Verde, cheddar cheese, pepper jack, pico de gallo, and flour or corn tortillas. I added an over-easy egg as well. The hash browns had a really nice crunch and good seasoning. The egg was cooked perfectly with a nice runny yolk. The cheese added some gooey texture, a little salt, and a bit of bite, while the peppers added a nice crunch to each bite. The pico also added a bright, fresh texture to the dish. The Pork Verde was beautiful, with great spice and juiciness, tender yet with a good chew. The entire dish works well together, and it was hard to stop eating it. I also sampled their biscuit with homemade gravy. The biscuit was light and airy with great texture, chew, and flavor. It was buttery and fresh. The gravy was seasoned really well, with big chunks of well-seasoned sausage that weren't overpowering, along with sage and other seasonings. The gravy was thick enough to stand up in its own, but not so thick that it had the consistency of glue. Perfect, flavorful, and amazing are about the only ways I could describe it. My wife had the B.L.T.E. on sourdough with home fries. This sandwich is served with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and egg. The sourdough was thick-cut and lightly toasted, with a light flavor, crunch, and great chew. The lettuce and tomato were fresh, bright, and both had a great texture. The eggs were well fried and seasoned. The bacon was medium-thick, cooked to perfection with crunch, chew, and a great salty flavor. The home fries came in a huge portion, were well seasoned, but were undercooked and had an unwanted crunch. They also came with grilled onions, which tasted good, but I'm not sure why they were put on top of the potatoes rather than cooked along with them. Coffee Cup has a full menu for both breakfast and lunch. They serve loads of burgers, wraps, sandwiches, plate meals, burritos, omelets, diner classics, and sides. They have a full bar and serve beer. The staff was extremely nice, and the service and food were quick. The Fat Man says that The Coffee Cup Cafe is Fat Man Approved with 3 chins. read more

It was out first time here. We came after our hike on a Saturday and it was a bit of a wait so we built our appetite before dining in. Thankfully the location was perfect since there was a lot to see around the area. Love the interior decor especially during December this is my first time here we've never been inside before the times we come it's usually closed. Coffee Cup Café has become one of those places we keep returning to, and somehow I'm only now writing a review. One of the best perks: you can order from the lunch menu even at breakfast. My husband is devoted to their meatloaf,--yes, the one featured on Food Network--and he happily rotates between the breakfast and lunch versions, always with fries. She was very kind and asked the Cook to do my omelette to the specific order and he took care of me. After a morning activity in town, my family and I decided to have lunch at The Coffee Cup. It came highly recommended on Google and Yelp. There was a long wait, which boded well for the experience. We then ordered pork verde omelette, while the kids ordered an OG breakfast sandwich and the Short on Cash breakfast, with chocolate chips added to the pancakes. We did not finish anything but the omelettes. The breakfast sandwich was a bit flavorless, with the bacon not enjoyable. We could only taste the bread. The pancakes did not taste like much beyond the syrup or the chocolate chips. We ordered bloody marys to replace the coffees we hadn't enjoyed, and found that those lacked any body to them. Our family finally had a chance to visit The Coffee Cup, a super charming diner in the heart of Boulder City. It's always busy so plan accordingly but there is lots of seating and they are efficient at moving people in and out. There's also a large counter if you are looking to jump in and out quickly. The menu is large with very reasonable prices and lots to choose from, whether breakfast or lunch. In fact, the menu is two sided with a ton of breakfast items on one side, and a similarly huge selection of lunch choices on the reverse. My daughter had French Toast, my wife had a standard eggs/hash browns/sausage links classic breakfast, and I decided to try the "Food Network" recommended Meatloaf and eggs. We all enjoyed our meals...my wife's was as expected but a shout out to super crispy hash browns (recommended!) and we all loved the thick homestyle sourdough toast provided with our meals. My daughter's French Toast was delicious and she loved it-- super good quality and great portions. As for my meatloaf, the eggs and hashbrowns were great but oddly, the meatloaf arrived cold and unfortunately needed to be sent back. The server brought back a brand new side of meatloaf after a few minutes and it was much better and had good flavor. The brown gravy that was over it was delicious and paired perfectly for this guilty pleasure diner staple. Overall, there are also lot of breakfast choices in Boulder City but we really enjoyed our time at The Coffee Cup. If you don't mind a short wait, you will be rewarded with some of the least expensive menu items we have seen lately, and great food quality overall. There is a reason they seem to have a loyal following and we look forward to returning! One quick note - the name The Coffee Cup can be a bit misleading as their coffee is more the diner version of it with endless pours of typical brewed goodness coming to your table. That said, if you desire a bit more espresso leaning specialty stuff, there is a great roaster a few doors down just FYI. read more

Well, we've done it again. We introduced another couple of unsuspecting friends to The Coffee Cup in Boulder City--and yep, they're hooked. It's honestly becoming a problem. Pretty soon, I won't be able to get a table without a disguise and a decoy. We've been coming here for years, and not once--not once--have we had a bad experience. The only "negative" is that it's too good, which means it's usually packed. I've had to wander off a few times, belly growling and head hanging low, to find food elsewhere. (Cue sad violin music.) But not this time. We rolled in at 8 AM on a Sunday expecting the usual crowd--but lo and behold, no line! We were greeted with a smile, seated immediately, and had coffee and drinks in front of us faster than you can say "chorizo scramble." Prices? Still great. Food? Still amazing. Service? Still spot-on. Friends' reaction? "When can we come back--and who can we bring?" It's starting to feel like I'm running a recruiting campaign for The Coffee Cup. I better stop singing its praises before it's standing-room only and I have to eat breakfast in the parking lot. Thanks, Coffee Cup crew--you continue to nail it every time. Once upon a time, there used to be an institution called the American diner. Always open, it served as a beacon in the night for the poor, the hungry, the shivering masses. Sadly they are a dying institution. Fear not though as in Boulder City, NV exists a strange spin-off called the Coffee Cup. Only open for breakfast and lunch and then the kitchen closes and it morphs into a pub in the evening. As a diner, wow. Has everything. Huge delicious portions. Long menu with everything you could possible want. Prices you haven't seen since 1998. Gender politics of the front of house (all women) and back of house (all men) that you haven't seen since 1978. But hell, it's the middle of nowhere and damn the milk shakes are epic. They prefer cash. Credit is a tiny extra fee. More stickers and wall bling than you could ever imagine. And unless the fake memorabilia of your hard rocks and Texas steak houses, it all is genuine. It's a weird mix of water skiing and military but hell, I appreciate the service and sacrifice of our troops too.
