My best buddy needed an eye procedure to remove a growth from near his eye that had the potential of growing onto his eye. The hospital is quite large and had a steady flow of patients while we were there. There is ample parking in their parking lot. The place was clean and the waiting room was spacious and comfortable. Everyone from the reception desk to the vet assistants to the veterinarians themselves were very pleasant and shared a true interest in my boy Willie. They offered options for treatment as well as a cost breakdown for each option. The procedure went smoothly and to date has been a success. Overall this was a good experience but Willie probably doesn't agree with my acessment. read more

The staff were incredibly kind and made my German Shepherd dog feel as comfortable as she could be on a vet visit. I felt that the care she received was high quality, the advice from the vet and discussion of my dogs care options were thorough, and I had easy email-access to the X-rays they conducted. The cost for service is quite high, so be prepared for that, and be prepared for a long wait. It cost me $537 and 3 hours to get three x-ray images of my large (70lb) dog's leg and cover the office service fee. Overall, this hospital offered a good emergency alternative after-hours to our normal vet office. As long as you treat it like a hospital (RE: cost, time), I'd recommend this service provider. read more

Get your act together!!! I brought my dog in for emergency care yesterday on the advice of my vet who said it's urgent bring him in now it could be a stroke. Upon entering friendly staff and they took my dog in right away. They took me into a room to wait for dr. They had someone else's record on the computer screen while I'm waiting. Clearly a huge red flag- peoples personal information for everyone to view! An assistant came in to ask questions to relay to the dr. I'm feeling great they are going to help my dog give him relief for his nausea and help figure out what's going on. Then 3 hours later the dr comes in after I have been asking for an update. The dr literally asked me the same questions the assistant did and yet relayed wrong information. It felt as if the dr was asking me what could possibly be wrong w my dog! No game plan, no results and no help for his nausea. They had no problem charging me 190 to use a stethoscope yet my dog didn't get any help. In fact they left him in a cold cage for hours with no help. Emergency care is for urgent care and yet my dog was treated as if he had an appointment and was here for a check up. They had no issues charging me for checking his vitals- how do I even know they even did that!! My dog was separated and all that time I thought he was being cared for. You failed my dog and my faith in emergency vet care. If your dog has a clear issue they can help but it's not about helping they truly just want to charge you. They had the nerve to send me a bill and did nothing to help my dog with his issues. They asked for my dogs vet and not once did they call in those hours for info details, records or clarity- they literally just want to take your payment. Save your animal a trip. Their front desk says be kind to the vet. How about try being kind to your patient. You could have helped him by giving him nausea meds and yet he sat in a cold cage for hours with no relief! I brought my 15-month-old kitty to BluePearl ER early Sunday morning over Labor Day weekend, knowing she was critically ill and needed urgent care. Despite the severity of her condition, I waited over five hours in an exam room with minimal attention. I made it clear she needed an ultrasound and immediate intervention, but due to the holiday, no specialists were available for her ultrasound until the following day. I asked for her to be prioritized but was told decisions would be made the next day based on other patients. She was dying................. By Monday morning / early afternoon, she still hadn't received the ultrasound or any appetite stimulants, even though she hadn't eaten in three days. Staff insisted she needed to fast for sedation, but they had ample time to plan for that. When we returned to speak with a surgeon, we were told we needed to pay $250 for a consultation and couldn't speak to her until Tuesday and it would now be by phone. This, despite the surgeon already being in communication with the vet that evening. It was an ER, yet we were denied timely access to the one person who could truly save her. On Monday evening, we were told we could take our kitty home because they weren't doing much for her other than fluids, and didn't believe she needed antibiotics, despite her worsening condition. We left with no clear plan, no written estimate for surgery, and a $3,500 bill for a kitty who was in no better shape then when I brought her in the previous morning. The following morning, she was barely hanging on. I couldn't believe she made it through the night at this point. We finally got an estimated time for the call from the surgeon nearly 20 hours later, but by then, she was too weak to survive any surgery. Every critical step in her care was delayed by a day over the course of 3 days. The ER was understaffed and disorganized. Communication between vets, techs, and the front desk was inconsistent. We were desperately hoping for answers while our kitty deteriorated. The lack of urgency, planning, and compassion cost her life. She was only 15 months old, beautiful, unique, and deeply loved. Her bonded littermate brother will never see her again. We were prepared for her surgery, but what we needed was timely, competent care. Instead, we were met with delays and no sense of urgency. read more

The place is dirty I almost asked if I could clean the floors. The waiting area is hard wooden benches. The kind and caring staff of BluePearl made one of the worst days of my life a little easier. I came here for an emergency situation with my dog who was nearing end of life and from the moment I stepped in the door they took care of my dog and myself like we were family. They made phone calls for me to handle logistics so I could just spend time with my dog saying goodbye. They handled everything seamlessly and with so much respect and empathy. They even sent me a card with heartfelt messages from the doctors and staff I worked with expressing their condolences on my loss. I'm just so thankful for all of them. read more

Do NOT take your pet here unless you have hours to waste and like rude unprofessional service. I wouldn't even give it 1 star if that was an option. Understaffed and made me wait 2 hours to see just a tech to do vitals. I didn't feel like they treated our issue as an emergency either. I overheard other patients upsets over the service and their wish to speak to the doctor. Dr. Unger, when we finally saw her she was rude and cold and did not apologize for the long wait or have empathy for my very stressed out dog with a giant oozing red bump on her leg. She acted liked she had better things to do and was very short with us. Her demeanor was the worst I've seen and I've been to the ER vet many times over the years (when it was South Boulder Rd Specialists under diff mgmt - who was MUCH better). When my husband asked Unger how long it would be for her to just provide the quote for further testing (after waiting 2 hrs in the waiting room plus 30 min in the exam room with a very stressed out pup) her answer was "I don't know, 15-20 min." Every time we were told " it'll be just a few min" it would always be at least 20-30 min). My husband asked her if it was possible to get the quote to us sooner and her answer was "we'll do our best" and with that she left the room! No apologies or empathy, follow up, just nothing. Right after that we left to pay for the visit and get the bleep out of there ASAP to never return. I will add that while we were waiting I called the ER vet in Boulder off 29th street (Emergency Vet Group I think) and I explained to them our situation with the BluePearl facility and the wound on our dog and asked how long the wait time would be and they told us there is hardly ever a wait and our dog, Shelby would be seen right away. I appreciated the empathy in her voice and the sense of urgency I did not see AT ALL with Dr Unger or the staff at Blue Pearl. I will in fact be telling everyone NOT to go there ever, and post this review everywhere I can. Absolutely terrible. And we left with our dog still in pain with no tests or bandage, antibiotics, pain pills or anything. We saw our normal vet the next day who got us in right away and was very concerned and told us she had a bad infection. They put antibiotics and gave us an RX and wrapped her paw. Told us vital info and acted like they really cared about our dog. It didn't take long, and that's what we were expecting from BluePearl but got nothing close to that kind of service. read more

My French Bulldog has had eye issues the last month and our vet recommended BluePearl Pet Hospital for an eye specialist. I will never have kids, so my dog is pretty much my child. The 45 minute drive from where I live was so worth the drive. From checking in to checking out I felt so taken care of. They answered all my questions that I had and made it clear if I had more questions to feel free to reach out. Even when I was paying my bill they were still answering additional questions I had. My dog had surgery to remove bone fragments from both of his elbows. I was told I he would be finished around 10am. Surgery went longer, heard from Dr. Peters around 11am, saying it took longer than expected, and they wanted to keep him overnight for pain management. I was supposed to get a call around 6pm for an update. No call at 6pm, I waited until 7pm to give them time, understanding that it is an emergency hospital. Called several times with no answer. At some point they called and left a voicemail, with minimal info other than my dog was doing well and they would call in the morning to schedule pick up. YOU CAN HEAR MY DOG CRYING IN THE BACKGROUND DURING THE VOICEMAIL. I called back immediately with no answer. Woke up this morning waiting for an update on when I could pick up my dog, no call. Finally called them, was put on hold for 30 minutes, then told the surgery team would call me back. I get a call from a gal who assures me my dog was checked this morning and is doing fine, but they need to keep him AGAIN until 4pm. If I was originally supposed to pick up my dog right after surgery, and he's staying an additional 30 hours, something isn't fine, right? I asked why he was needing to stay so long and the gal said this was a new job, she didn't know. I asked for the doctor. Dr. Peters sounding forceful and cold: I thought we were on the same page about your dog staying overnight. I checked Louie this morning and he's doing fine. Me: We were. But I was supposed to get an update last night, I called several times but there was no answer. I didn't receive a call this morning. Please help me understand why his release keeps getting extended if he is fine. Dr. Peters: We don't usually do this surgery on older dogs with arthritis, so he is experiencing more pain than expected. Me: It would have been good to know that you don't do this surgery on older dogs ahead of time. Dr. Peters: We need to give him more pain injections today and see how he reacts to them. You can pick him up at 4pm. Cold. Short. Unkind. Ten minutes later the front desk calls me, asking if we had set a time for Louie to be picked up. Why would you call the customer to get an answer you can get from your doctor who is in the next room? My dog is my only companion in life. I expected BluePearl to treat me with at least a little kindness, and decent communication. I received neither. read more

We received good care here for a pet emergency. Our 10-year-old chihuahua mix suddenly was having intermittent severe pain attacks, so we brought her in here because we couldn't get in to see our regular vet until the next day. BluePearl's emergency service is on a walk-in basis and they don't take appointments, although they do ask you to call ahead so they can prepare. We were seen right away by Dr. Lydia Thomsen, who did a good job. She was unable to find any cause for the pain (our dog wasn't having any pain while we were there), but gave us some likely scenarios for what was happening based on our reported symptoms, and prescribed some pain medication and some muscle relaxant. She advised us that we would probably need a CT scan or MRI to get a more definite diagnosis. Unfortunately they don't have these services or neurology at this office, and they referred to us to their Englewood office. That's a long way from home, so we decided to take our dog to CASE (Colorado Animal Specialty & Emergency) in Boulder instead, where we also got good care. read more

I took my diabetic cat in to this clinic per recommendation of my veterinarian to see the internal specialist. One of the biggest mistakes ever, They put a freestyle libre or commonly known as a CGM in on him. The email I received with the instructions so that clinic could read his numbers number one was incorrect. It was an older model sensor not the one they sent me home with. I was able to research on how to be able to share the information with them. Keep in mind I have two human diabetics, So we are very familiar with all of the tools and medicines used. When my cat sensor failed I called The clinic at 7:30 in the morning. I didn't hear back from someone until 530pm that afternoon and she didn't even seem to know that that's why she was calling. She called telling me that we needed to up my cats insulin dose by one every 12 hours when I asked what this was based on she said that the doctor had been monitoring him through his numbers and that he has been running high all day. I pointed out that that's impossible seeing how his sensor failed that morning so no one was able to see his numbers. She told me no the doctor had been monitoring him and that his numbers were high and we needed to up his insulin. I told her that this was not possible. I also let her know that upping a dose by one every 12 hours with no one being able to monitor numbers was on the verge of malpractice. I know with human diabetics, you alter their insulin and you wait a few days to see the results not 12 hours. If I would have followed this information, my cat probably would have died. I spoke a few days later to the medical Director, who verified that in fact, they could not read my cats numbers. So this doctor flat out lied to their Vet tech. I don't blame the vet tech. She was doing as instructed per the doctor. Reality, though that doctor lied. They call it a miscommunication. I'm not sure how it's miscommunicated when the doctor says that they've been reading their numbers. They're high. Tell the vet tech to call me and increase his insulin yet his CGM had died so there was no way for this doctor to see his numbers at all. Now I need to take him to another specialist which I now have to repay for so yes I have requested a refund. I thought I was getting one and I got one for the CGM, but not the visit. Also, I filed a complaint with the state board regarding this doctor. I honestly wasn't going to issue any negative reviews but now that I'm struggling to get refunds on the full visit, I am taking all avenues. I need to. Overall, my experience with the his staff at the front desk was great, Getting a call back when I was told I would get call back that was lacking. The internal doctor, I would not recommend to anyone!!!! There was no miscommunication. The doctor could not read the numbers, but yet decided to up my diabetic cats insulin dose blindly. Our vet now will no longer refer blue pearl to anyone. Thank goodness, I have history with diabetes and know how it works and I knew not to do this and just blindly follow their instructions. Otherwise my cat probably would not be here today. Finally got a call back today stating they would not refund our consultation visit, and refused to give me any information as to who I can contact that is above this facility. This is incredibly poor practice skills. If you're confident in your decision, you should have no problems with someone having a conversation about the care or lack there of you provide. read more

Really, really great. I have a very nervous dog, and everyone at BluePearl Pet Hospital was so incredibly wonderful. Every single person was very kind, understanding and accommodating. We had to see an ophthalmologist for some spots that the vet was concerned about. The news was not good, but I am so thankful for their kindness and compassion. We have to go back for a recheck, and they made sure to tell me they will do all the same things to help my dog as comfortable as possible for her re-check. God bless these people. My mother recently had an emergency with her cat which called called for an after hours ER visit. I cannot express my gratitude for this place, there are simply no words for how they treated my mom, how they cared for her cat, and how they ensured we got the best follow up care all without breaking the bank. Unlike some vet offices, they truly consider and care for your pet above any monetary value. My mom is disabled and I don't think they realize how far their kindness went and the impact they made in her life at that moment. It was traumatic for her, but the Vets and staff were very kind and patient with Joy's fears. Doctors Cowan and Peters (surgeon) restored Joy's quality of life and Joy is enjoying every moment. I appreciate their patience with me in answering my questions and explaining the options prior to her surgery. They understood my concerns about Joy's quality of life and the explanation about options addressed those concerns. I think I made a well-informed decision for Joy to have surgery. Joy's recovery went well because of the technicians who took the time to explain what to expect during the recovery period and what I could do to make Joy comfortable. Friendly staff, but horrible business ethics. They are not upfront about their costs (which are very high) and charge you for services that should be standard. I was charged a high price as a "Consult" just because the vet came out to get my dog and spent 3 minutes telling me they were going to do bloodwork (which was the reason I brought him in the first place). I was told I could just stop by any time to get that done previously, but I guess that is considered an appointment there. Never once was it stated I would be charged for this brief interaction. I brought our dog here because he had a seizure. Got great care that day, but from that point on the experience was horrible. They are unorganized and do not communicate or track their notes properly causing issues later. The costs are high and I honestly felt like they had a list of things my dog would need to keep us needing to come back. I don't usually write comments, but I truly feel this business is about the money only and I want to warn others about their business ethics. read more

Dr. Mezzanotte at Blue Pearl diagnosed my dog Fiona with fluid in her chest. I found him very honest and straight forward! Being that Fiona was 13 1/2 years old and very sick with fluid in her chest, I made the decision to put her down! I felt very fortunate to have this vet as my counselor who assisted me with making difficult decisions for my dog! I took my 10 wk old foster puppy who had sustained an eye laceration to Blue Pearl Clinic for their ophthalmology specialist clinic. Being in rescue for many years I have been to alot of vet clinics. Many disappoint for many reasons. I did not want to be there and drive that far but I am so grateful to the staff and the Dr. Gracious, caring group. The front desk was wonderful. Kelly, Dr. Martabano's vet tech and Dr. Martabano educated me on several procedures. My little foster baby is missing an eye but is happy and playing, Feeling much better. We've brought our Great Dane to Blue Pearl (Lafayette, CO) for 2 knee surgeries in the past 2 1/2 years. Our girl is anxious and the staff are always so kind and patient with her.
