I've been climbing here for years now! Definitely my favorite climbing gym in the state. They are strictly bouldering and that means there's no rope climbing. They have expanded and renovated multiple times since I've been here and it only gets better and bigger. There's a gym, yoga studio, cafe, study area, WiFi, showers, spa, the list goes on. You could spend all day here. Why this gym is better than the others? -Very smooth routes -utilizes volumes - more climbing areas -lots of parking and central location -cheaper -the clientele ;D Some tips: - you can try out most of their good climbing shoes for free if you ask. - if you are a FIRST TIMER you can get in free if you check in as a member's guest! -the route difficulties are a range so don't defeat yourself mentally about problems! -the gym gets really crowded during peak times around 5-6, and when they reset walls on Tuesday's and Thursday's. read more

Such a joke honestly. Constantly packed anytime after 3pm and no effort into limiting capacity during peak hours. Touts their COVID commitments all day long but then have their gym packed wall to wall with people (hint: $$$$$$$$). Clearly making enough money to open state of the art bars, new locations, etc but don't give their employees well deserved raises. This has got to be one of the best bouldering gyms I've been to. The cost, amenities, and given the space of the gym, I can say it's definitely worth the day pass value for it. I went on a Sunday afternoon and this place wasn't crowded at all. There were plenty of bouldering units and space, both on the main level and downstairs. First visitors get climbing shoes rental for free. They also have community chalk bags, so you don't need to purchase one. And you can most definitely use any community chalk bag you see out on the floor. They have a wide variety of well-organized, color coordinated levels of climbing. From beginner to expert, there will be something for everyone. Even short walls. They also have showers, lockers with codes, sauna, fitness center/gym, different fitness classes. Then even have a cafe and BAR (??? Sure why not lol). The staff is friendly and the space of the gym, including bathroom, is very clean and well ventilated! None the less, I will most definitely be back. So glad that there is such a great bouldering gym here in Seattle and it took me too long to try it out! read more

This review is intended for beginners. If you're a beginner that wants to pick up bouldering, Seattle Bouldering Project is the perfect place! I came with no experience and decided to take a free beginner class, and it was a wonderful experience that makes me want to come back! As I mentioned, they offer many classes here. A few beginner level classes but also more advanced classes. You'll have to pay for rental shoes unless you have some, but other than that it'll be free. The class I took really helped me to understand the basics of bouldering and a lot of different tips and tricks. Of course you don't need to take them, but in my opinion it really helped me to not be completely clueless. One thing I really liked about this place is that they color code climbs based on difficulty, perfect for beginners. This place is huge! There are 2 different floors; one where the main bouldering floor is, and another that has a variety of everything. The downstairs floor has a ton of stuff: a gym, bouldering walls (both advanced and beginner), a training area with a bunch of different equipment, and even a cafe! If you decide to become a regular here I'm sure there is always something different you can try here to improve yourself. Overall, bouldering is a great sport and this place is an awesome place to get you started. Classes here are really helpful and instructors are super informative. The vast amount of workout options available makes it really worth it to get a membership if you see yourself coming back often! read more

My second home! SBP is great if you enjoy a more acrobatic (comp-style) boulder set. Facilities in general are not the cleanest but also not the worst. For the amount of foot traffic they receive, it's decently maintained. Boulders: 5.0 of 5.0 Staff: 3.0 of 5.0 Facilities: 4.0 of 5.0 Staff is hit or miss. Some are warm, friendly, and energetic. Others make it pretty obvious that customer service isn't one of their priorities. Definitely beginner friendly! Although can be dangerous at times. this place is very cool, too cool. I've been a member for about 6 months and all I can say is that it's super crowded ALL OF THE TIME. I've walked in and left several times because there are so many people that there not even standing room on the mats. Today I left because there were no lockers available and I didn't want to wait around in the locker room for one like a weirdo. Unless you are able to get in before 4PM then I wouldn't say you're going to a good experience.. or elbow room. read more

Me and my bf went here for bouldering and we had lots of fun. All the facility was clean and well designed. I heard they rearrange the holds one wall at a time by-weekly so that people can try out different courses. I like that they have snack bar and also have kid's zone. There are weight fitness space and stretching places with yoga matt. My favorite is their treadwall. You can climb til you get out of energy. Chalk bag is also provided; you just have to grab one from next to the reception desk and put back when you are done. Also Towels are given and restroom has shower and even a sauna facilities. Though a very welcoming place it is PACKED on weekday nights. Staff are super nice but no one mentioned how to fall like other places have. granted, the floors are super plush but it would be a neat thing to mention for the new people that I went with. Tough there are LOTs of places to climb the area we wanted to climb in down stairs was all blocked off for a class over an hour away. this seemed like a waste of the space as people were so clustered together in any other part of the gym it made it all difficult to enjoy. Also, a lot of the routes overlap so it makes it difficult to start one when you have to cross in front of others or block people from climbing. maybe at a different time of day it would be better but after working hours on a week day is NOT the day to come in unless you want to stand around waiting a lot. read more

Well slap my forearms and call me the climbing bear of the natural woods in the suburbia! (This bear was clearly adopted by a family of cats.) Nothing gets me ready for hibernation than a great climbing gym! ^_^ *roars from excitement!* so let's chalk about how great this place is! (Eh.... o.o I saw you giggle in that chalk joke. *poodle presses the sound affect of cricket noise.* thanks...love the feeling of support._.) So stretch those fingers and let's scale this review! Atmosphere: Walking in you get the feeling that your going to have to be coming back to climb the remaining obstacles you didn't hit first. This place is huge. (Like almost as biggest Tom's cruise ego in every movie that he has star in. We get it, your "amazing" in every scene. [*hard eye roll*]) but in this aspect every wall is use to its full benefit. With every course challenging you even if you're doing the simple ones. (Which in this case if your starting out dont be embarrassed to climb! If it helps, I tripped walking to the wall and went head first on it. [What's weird was everyone was talking about how I was crying but it was clear that I had retain water from 3 weeks ago when it rained and finally started to leak out of my eyes. I mean its logic 101.]) With an amazing shower section, (No longer will people [homeless guy] point at you at the public train station and say how much you stink and cause a riot on the train for your head.), on the lower floor is a mini gym, (No longer will you have to live out in the streets in your cardboard box cuz you have a gym account here and another gym account somewhere else to get your swole for other body parts. Now have the luxury of having 2 in one and finally buying that sweet screen tv and setting it in your second box installment [for your outside house] that you bought for it!) And finally a cafe area with a mini cafetaria. (Now have the chance to drink coffee and write to your pen pal [that's catfishing you] at le gym. :3) This place is well kept and cleaned up, you would think your grandma that's so tight about cleanliness worked here part time. ._. Customer service/Community: Everyone is super "chill" (am I using that word right brah?) and really excited to be there. Customer service is always there if you have any questions about anything. (Even when you got lost once and found out that you weren't climbing and you were in San Francisco which made the scenario much worst, so a family of sea otters adopted you and thought you the ways of the ocean but I digress..) The feeling is comforting. The community that climbs here, is amazingly nice. Like too nice. ._. You guys aren't going to charge me with these secret hidden fees? Nah... *gets bill for $300,000 five years later that's due in 24 hours and have your family for ransom* (but I mean is there a price for kindness? ._. Yes.) But until that point I'll keep enjoying the love. Everyone is there to climb and have gone through the growing pains of climbing so dont feel pressured about how your doing! Which is a great feeling! Conclusion: With a large variety of courses to climb, a diverse place to eat, coffee, gym, shower and potty!, a great friendly staff and a community that's respectful with new comers. This is great spot to burn your forearms and have the horrible choice of having sushi with chopsticks right after. Followed by trying to shift your car to any gear. (Do you feel cool now? This place is a really fun place to climb since they have a lot of challenging routes and routes of all levels! They have a lot of room for people to climb with a huge first floor and a smaller bottom level with more routes and workout room. What I really like about this place is that you can go to their fitness, yoga, or climbing classes with your day pass/membership/punch card. IF you're not sure if bouldering is for you, you can just get a day pass and try it out! I went to the Bouldering II class last week and I learned a lot from the instructor who made it a lot of fun. read more

I love this place and I wanted to take my friend for their first time. Everything was going great, until we had to leave and realized that someone stole his cash from inside his shoes, when I told the front desk about it they didn't really seem to have a system in place for theft, seeing the cubby's are all open door policy. Well someone stole his stack of cash and weapon. It was his first time so this def left a salty taste in how the employees handled the situation and wasn't given any info and felt somewhat disregarded it. I'm def going to try and check out other locations since this was the only one i have ever been to. Otherwise it's a great establishment with great amenities. This place is AWESOME! I come from San Diego where we have a few rock climbing gyms - and you can say I've been quite spoiled to have a gym that has both bouldering as well as top roping walls. But when my boyfriend and I came to visit SBP, we were BLOWN away by this place. Not only were there NUMEROUS problems everywhere, we felt that the rating system for every project was consistent and true to their difficulty. We ended up climbing for about 1.5 hours because there was just so much to try. Very well padded everywhere and I felt like I was just bouncing around from place to place. Furthermore we weren't expecting there to be a downstairs area with a full bar and cafe area! SUPER cute place that I could easily hobbit up the whole day with my laptop and coffee. Their cafe had this amazing pastrami sandwich that you had to try. My boyfriend got the Seattle dog and it was equally as delicious. While we ate, we played a game of chess (but there were a bunch of other board games you could have chose from!) Upon exploring the rest of the facility, there were numerous hangout spots, training areas, and a HUGE fitness area with everything you'd need to pump some iron - always a huge plus. Of course a climbing gym nowadays wouldn't be complete without the Yoga! While I didn't take any class, I could see they had numerous yoga mats and other equipment for their members to use. Went to Seattle Bouldering Project for the first time today, despite hearing great reviews months ago. I can't believe I didn't come here sooner! SBP is much more than just a rock climbing gym. There's a large space space on the lower level of the facility that boasts nearly a dozen free weight racks, as well as plenty of cardio equipment. Also, there is an on-site cafe where you can cool down with a healthy bite or even an adult beverage. Seriously cannot recommend this place enough. If you are even remotely curios, you won't regret stopping in- The amenities, staff, and sheer quality of the space will have you ready to leave your current gym behind. A one time visit is a little pricey, so I would recommend trying it out with a member (it's free your first time!) instead. Regardless, you will be planning your next visit before you even leave! read more

Bouldering Project - Poplar - All levels! - Yoga Near Me - Seattle, Washington

My boyfriend surprised me by taking me here on Saturday, and I had a blast! It was my first time rock climbing so I really had no idea what to expect, but I can say that I'm a fan. We showed up pretty early, around 9 am. We were glad to find that it wasn't too busy at all. We left a little after 11 and around then, people were starting to fill the place up really quickly. I can see that it might get a little too packed and people would have to take turns climbing certain areas, which would get annoying. Upon arriving you have to register/sign a waiver if that hasn't already been done. Note: their keyboards BLOW. Like, really bad. Make sure your fingers are feeling strong that day. After signing the waiver, we got our shoes (first timers get a free shoe rental!) and we were ready to roll after my boyfriend exchanged his shoes for a better size once or twice. They fit really weird... The shoes are designed to crunch your toes together almost, so don't expect the utmost comfort. We kind of just went for it, and ended up climbing about 50% of the walls that SBP offers upstairs. I've never really described myself as somebody afraid of heights, but this was a little scary! Trying to figure out where your foot or hand was going to go next was a little nervewracking, and a few times I just jumped down from the wall. In the end, I summited most of the walls that I went for and ended up having a really good time. Something that we discovered/realized after climbing for over an hour: use chalk. Even if you're going once! It's going to help. Also, note that there is a lower level! The level downstairs looks like it's meant more for kids, as there is a rock climbing castle, a private area with a whole setup meant for birthday parties, and also an easier wall that's meant for beginners. Also, be prepared to be sore. Our date was two days ago and my forearms are stillll strugglin'. read more

SBP has everything I look for in a gym: Classes - fitness, yoga, and bouldering I've been doing yoga for several years and am super impressed with the yoga class quality. Instructors are very receptive to input and passionate about what they do. Work out space - There's so much space to stretch, weigh lift, handstand, climb, body weight exercises, etc. Work - There's a ton of workspace (coffee shop, conference rooms, etc) that includes gym-wide free wifi. I come to the gym to meet up with friends, workout, work, and play with dogs (there's a space for the pups to hang out while you climb). Bouldering - There's a ton of routes to do whether you're a newbie or an advanced climber. I didn't give this establishment 5 stars because of the slightly unpleasant overcrowdedness at peak hours. I think it's a little dangerous to have bouldering areas too crowded. More importantly, I do NOT feel comfortable walking around the gym area. I've seen drug paraphernalia (needles and such) and several people displaying their knives. I usually drive to/from the gym whenever possible. Cheers! read more

My friend and fellow Yelper, Jessica R., recently invited me to try the Seattle Bouldering Project. Let me tell you a few things about myself. I'm lazy. I'm not in shape. I have no upper body strength. I could lose some weight. I'm not afraid of heights, but I am claustrophobic. I'm OCD. I am a clumsy wimp. I haven't been rock climbing since I was in the 6th grade on a retreat. And even then, we used harnesses. NO HARNESSES exist at Seattle Bouldering Project...I think it's important to note that. Having said all of that, I had a great time! Upon entering with my friend, a member, I had to fill out some visitor paperwork on an iPad (basically releasing the company from any injury and liability, etc.), got some rental climbing shoes, and stored my stuff in the locker area. Then we hit the rocks. The walls are organized by various levels of difficulty (V0 being the easiest) and incline levels, and the climbs are changed out every 2 weeks. I started out on the kiddie walls (which are still hard if you've never done this before)...got to the top of a wall and sat on the top while watching my friend do some of the harder climbs. I realized that I had to either jump down or climb. Even with padding on the ground, I was very hesitant to jump. It's terrifying! I tried some of the larger walls (V0 climbs, of course), and I would get about halfway and have to jump down. I almost fell a couple times, too. The few times I did jump off, I'm positive it was in poor form. Even as I wrote this, I am pretty certain that I sprained my ankle on one of the spastic jumps down. This place is pretty amazing, though. Multiple rooms, multiple walls, ropes, a climbing treadmill, etc. And it was packed! I was told that the business was unusual for a typical night...maybe lots of New Year's Resolutions? But I can say this. No one laughs or judges even when they are watching you. And everyone falls. I'll be honest. This wasn't my thing. I'm way too clumsy and claustrophobic (and filled with fear) to do this on a regular basis, but I'd definitely go back. I'm always open to trying things, and it was actually pretty interesting. read more

I went here for the first time a few weeks ago. The staff was pretty friendly and helped us out and told us some of the etiquette's for bouldering. The facility is quite large and they change their routes about every month. The scale starts at V0 (greys) and increases to V1, V2, V3 and so on. I worked on the V0's and V1's the whole time. There are varying degrees between the 0's and 1's so some of them were quite challenging (but then everything would be challenging for me the first time ;)) . It costs $12 for a student day pass ($16 for adult) and free shoe rental for your first visit! Pretty much a steal compared to the pricing I found at Stone Gardens. They also let us borrow a bag of chalk. There are also cubbies and lockers in the bathroom to store your stuff. Everyone climbing seemed really friendly and helpful if we had questions. They have super thick mats so that lessened my fear of falling from some of the higher climbs. They also have a downstairs where you can work on your footwork on the traverse wall and strengthen your grip on various holds. If you have kids, this is a great place to go! There's a kids rock wall downstairs. After the first time climbing, I know I wanted to come back a lot so I already bought a 10 visit punch card for $100 (student price). It's such a great way to build upper body strength versus going to the gym and lift weights. After the first day, I was sore for a couple of days. I love that feeling! I would recommend this place for anyone and everyone who wants to try bouldering :) read more

This is literally my happy place!!! My boyfriend was always trying to push me to come here and try it out, and after almost a year I finally gave it a try. My first time at sbp was in July, and I literally fell in love with this place. The sport itself is a challenge, and it's such a fun way to work out. This place never gets boring (it's huge!) because there's an upstairs and downstairs with tons of routes, and it has a gym! They offer workout/yoga classes, and bouldering classes as well. *** They also change up the routes every few weeks, so there's always something new to look forward to! Great music is always being played, and the people who work here and go here are just amazing. I can literally leave my stuff laying around at random places and know that nothing will ever get stolen. Pricing: If it's your first time, try to go with someone who has a membership because they can get you in for free. Other than that an adult day pass is $16 and a student day pass is $12 (not including tax!). Shoes are $4. ***They also have a 10-day punch card, and for students it's $100. For adults I think it's $120. You can check out their website for more information and validity! I got the 10-day punch card and used it up fast, and now I have a membership ($50 a month), and since I got the punch card first, I didn't have to pay the $40 initial fee for my membership. Lately the peak time has been around 5-8pm Sun-Thurs. And it can get prettttty packed. If you want to avoid that, I would recommend coming in the morning, and Fridays and Saturdays it's not that busy! Overall, I absolutely love this place! If you've never tried bouldering, or ever wanted to try it I would definitely recommend this place! Seattle Bouldering Project is a fantastic idea, and it looks like they put 110% into it. First, the location is great for anyone in central Seattle, Capitol Hill, Madison, Beacon Hill, Pioneer Sqr, or South Seattle. Seattle has two climbing gyms, but they're both in northwest Seattle - so it makes a lot of sense to have a location that serves the many people that live in areas that aren't near Ballard or Interbay. The SBP is literally a 5 - 10 minute bike ride away from most areas of Cap Hill. They have a bike rack out front, and also have tons of parking. The other great thing, for people that prefer bouldering, is that this gym is *only* bouldering. No more ducking under ropes trying to get around top-ropers or feeling like you can't use all the walls in the place for traversing. The focus on bouldering is refreshing, and the fact that they have top-out boulders is more exciting than you'd think. Top-out boulders are a pretty simple concept, but none of the other gyms in Seattle have them. Topping out is something you commonly do when climbing outdoors in the real world, and it involves slightly different motions than the other components of climbing, so it's nice to be able to practice it. The one downside I've seen so far is that they have children's birthday parties there sometimes (especially weekends), which means there could be a dozen 8-year-olds running around screaming and chasing each other. I don't know yet whether that will be a regular occurrence, and it's too early to say what the overall vibe / atmosphere of this place will be. read more

At the Seattle Bouldering Project, you get exactly that -- bouldering! They have huge walls on both the top and bottom floors. It's almost always packed on weekday evenings, and is probably actually the emptiest on Fridays, since people like to go climbing outside on Fridays (weather permitting). The routes here are pretty challenging, but they're not quite the same as other places that stick to the V Scale (V0, V1, etc.). It's tough because their "V1" (yellow rocks) really range from the gray rocks (easier than yellow) to green (tougher than yellow). That's confusing. Basically, their routes have a lot of overlap and certain routes can feel tougher than certain routes of the "tougher" color. I get that grading is subjective, but they could have used a little more standardized way. But it's really not a big deal because the whole point is just to climb! In general, SBP is a lot more social than other places I've been, like Stone Gardens. People are coming with friends and you get pretty large groups coming together here. So you get a lot of groups that are just sitting on the mats and catching up. I mean, they even have a bar downstairs! So this place is definitely more of a social climbing gym, as compared to other gyms where people are just focused on climbing. With that being said, you're bound to get a lot of encouragement and help from the people around when you are stuck on a problem. All in all, this place is great for bouldering, as you would expect! The prices are pretty reasonable (I think $16 for a day pass) and even cheaper if you're a student! The parking lot is large, but this place gets really crowded so it can still be tough to find a spot sometimes. There aren't that many options for indoor bouldering around the city, so you'll probably end up here one time or another, and there's nothing wrong with that! read more

I enjoy coming to SBP on the days where there's a reasonable amount of people. More often than not climbing after work on a weekday means having to wait in line before getting to climb the problem you're interested in. On days where there are competitions, they close down half of the first floor which makes the gym insanely crowded, and almost un-usable. Always impressed. It's a community any athletic person of any skill level could dream about. Pricing for day pass, punch card, or membership will likely fit your habit and budget. For those who go twice or more a week, the annual pass is worth the payment (especially three or four times a week, they're practically paying you to work out). There's far more than climbing including a gym, fitness classes, and yoga. The cafe downstairs serves great coffee plus beer for those later nights. Parking is rough, but plenty of neighborhood parking or bus/light rail options from ID station. Super friendly crowd and always new faces. Just got my membership today. The staff there were extremely friendly, and i could tell passionate about their job. Very refreshing. My friend Ian referred 5 of his friends who had never bouldered before. We now all have monthly memberships. This guy deserves some sort of referral bonus! Free shoes? Lowered monthly rate? A few free months? Most gyms have bonuses for their members who refer people, would be a neat concept to implement. Checked website for hours and cost for a day pass. Went with a friends and 5 kids total (so two adults 5 kids, two of which have climbed before including myself- I have been climbing for 22 years and belay certified- and I taught at vertical world as well). When we got there they wouldn't let us climb because there is a 1:2 adult to child ratio.....so even though the kids were just going to boulder in the kid area we couldn't climb at all. They were pretty bummed And I was annoyed because I didn't see anything online next to kids cost/ climbing etc on adult to kid ratio. SO basically if you're a single parent with more than two kids this place isn't for you. We ended up going to Momentum Indoor Climbing and there was no problem there. read more

I have been here before, but man have they made some upgrades. You really don't have to leave this place. You walk in, you have quick buy gear ranging from chalk, shoes, and other bouldering needs. They have a variety of packages if you don't want to commit to a full year or month to month membership. This place is bigger than it looks. They have bouldering on the main level and downstairs. You'll primarily be on the main floor. Downstairs has more stuff for kiddos and lateral work. There's a co-working/view area on the upper level. Downstairs they have group party areas, a cafe/restaurant area for pizza, pastries, sandwiches, and beverages. There's a few rooms for their extra classes like boot camp, yoga, etc. They have a weight lifting area as well. They have restrooms on both levels. Staff and culture of fellow climbers is great and encouraging for the infrequent climbers. Even though we're not consistent members, we love coming here and bringing friends. read more

Prior to visiting the Seattle Bouldering Project, I had only gone bouldering once before. This location was in a more industrial area, with lots of warehouses, but we were able to find the bouldering place without many problems. Once we saw the sign, it was easy to find parking close to the warehouse. I liked Seattle Bouldering Project because there were pads everywhere, not in just selected regions. Meaning, if you fall off one of the walls, you're sure to have a cushioned landing. For an inexperienced climber like myself, that added to the feeling of safety and security, when climbing was already out of my comfort zone. As soon as we completed all of our waiver forms, one of the guys working there explained the facility, as well as the rules. It was helpful to know the different climbing "levels" and what the rock colors meant. Our first visit was really short, since we had other activities to do while we were in town visiting. But, our 1-2 hours spent here were really awesome. One of our family members is a more experienced climber, so he took on some of the more challenging courses. As a whole, I stuck to the yellow rocks because those were the easier courses to complete ... and even at that, I could only reach the top of a few of the courses (the ones where you aren't going straight up like a ladder are definitely more challenging). If I lived in Seattle or visited for a longer time, this is definitely a place I would revisit. Bouldering here was fun and felt safe at the same time. And, the facility is pretty big - there's an upstairs and downstairs, as well as spacious bathrooms/a locker room where you can change or shower. read more

TLDR: Great fun! Raw hands. Do it again! There are two floors of rock walls to climb. There is also a rock tread wall on the 1st floor, restaurant, and exercise equipment. Rock colors indicate difficulty. The black diamond shaped rocks can be used with any color. Sorry, no ropes or harnesses--the good news: the rock walls don't go past 15 feet high. So fall with grace! Firsthand experience: My god is the flesh on my hands raw or what?! Be prepared to have sore and useless hands afterwards if it's your first time. Super fun but hard on the baby hands that haven't seen a day of work. Tip: bring your own pad lock to lock your belongings in if you want to save money. Very cool gym with lots of bouldering walls. There are dozens of courses with varying difficulty levels. You pay one time and you can climb as much as you want. There were lots of people climbing on the random Thursday that we went and the people there are very friendly. If you want to take a break, there is also free Wi-Fi and a really cool loft area overlooking the gym. You can chat on one of the comfy couches or sit at one of the chairs overlooking the climbing walls. read more

FILL YOU WAIVER OUT ONLINE FIRST!!! I repeat, fill the dang waiver out ahead of time. Otherwise, you have to use their computers, which are slow, and right by the front door and it can be mighty ccccooold. It's a nice big space for all climbing levels. People working there are helpful and friendly and the other climbers are pretty polite. Not much more you can ask for, right? I am newish to indoor climbing still, did most my climbing outdoors years ago. It's a nice thing for a mom that wants to be cool to do with her teenage son. :-) Not cheap but if you can last a couple hours, you get your moneys worth. When you pay for one day, you get to use the entire gym and the classes they offer, too. I haven't done that yet but neat that you can do that. I think for an adult and a rental of shoes, it was about 24 and then some less for my son. They also have an area for kiddos, and kiddo climbing parties. read more

I've never rock climbed or bouldered before, so this was all new to me! Came here on a Monday afternoon and there was a decent amount of parking across from SBP and it wasn't too busy. It was 17.50 and if you're a first timer, shoe rental was free. There are different levels and routes for all different skill levels. I managed to do pretty well with the yellow (second to the lowest level) and I succeeded two green (next after yellow) routes! Climbing down was sometimes a challenge, but falling onto those cushy mats were pretty fun. After that, my arms were sore. And I know that I'll definitely be feeling it for the next few days. It was fun to go with someone who had done this before so they can give you tips and best practices on how to get to the top! I can't wait to learn the correct technique and go again and build me some arm muscles! read more

I've been to a couple indoor rock climbing gyms in Seattle (Stone Gardens & Vertical World), and I have to say that this has been the best one by far! The layout is awesome & the gym focuses on bouldering (thus the name). The staff was friendly & quick to get you through (if you're not a member) to get onto the bouldering fun. However, some of the climbing paths weren't clearly taped and kind of threw me off on where to start & where to finish. Overall, I will give this place 4.5 stars. My arms are still sore as I write this review from yesterday's bouldering session. I hosted a Gogobot event here yesterday with a huge group, and SBP was super accommodating. I called ahead to make sure they had space for us, and they did because it wasn't super crowded yesterday. There are many levels for people to try and even though it seems scary to jump from that high, it isn't too bad. The cushion has a lot of padding so that you're pretty safe. They also have clean bathrooms, showers and even a sauna. There are lots of cubby holes for you to store your stuff as well, and they have lots of chalk, tape and even first aid stuff in case your hands get raw (which mine did). Overall, it was a really fun time and I'll definitely be back! read more

I went bouldering for the first time with a few of my friends who suggested we try something new! This was more new to me but my friends all have only gone a few times. This was definitely intimidating to start out but the first time free shoe rental (+ student discount!!) made me think, "I should just try this once and if I don't like it, I didn't spend too much money anyways!" Let me just start by saying YOU DO NOT have to be athletic at all to try this!! It's really just fun to fail and try again until you accomplish a course. I would definitely recommend this as a fun activity for a group of friends to go and try. The atmosphere was filled with climbers who were beginners like me and also super experienced. Everyone is very very welcoming and some people even gave me pointers! Side note: if you have gym chalk, bring a little ziploc baggie.. your hands will thank you... :) read more

This place is so fun! The staff here are very friendly. It's easy to end up spending most of your day here. I love that I can go from climbing to getting a coffee in the cafe to doing yoga in the gym and back to climbing. As an active person, this place is like heaven. The place is kept very clean. The crowd that hangs out here is pretty awesome too. I often end up talking to random people and getting in some social time between climbs. read more

Had a wonderful experience at this facility bouldering. While I was only attempting all the yellow and green levels, I had an amazing time at this location. Second time at this sbp being an out of towner in Seattle from the 305. This place is always crowded! Beat the crowd by coming on Friday night and staying till late past 9 pm pst, you'll get to try all the boulders you want. Seriously great location on rainier ave right off of I-90. If I lived in Seattle I would sign up for a membership. There's a whole floor in the basement for beginners like myself.
