I had a severe eye irritation at work and left early. I called two optometrists that didn't answer the 3rd place I called was Dr. Buffo. I explained I needed an appointment ASAP and the nice lady whom I spoke to said I would need to pay a little extra to be seen which was fine. I got there in 5 minutes and after a short wait was seen by the Doctor. He found a small hair in my eyelashes scratching my eye. He carefully removed it prescribed me eye drops and scheduled my follow up for next week. Their office is very welcoming , they make you feel at home and provide excellent service. Once again, my employer still has Davis Vision... which is I believe the least liked vision insurance for any optometrist/ophthalmologist office... Every time I go to an eye doctor's office and mention Davis Vision, you are usually asked to leave (I am kidding)... All that to say I I returned to this office as a cash patient for me, my wife, and myself. I cannot express my sincerest appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Buffo, Monica, and Tara in the office... I have a job that requires a lot of time on the road and in front of computers. I was then taken back right away to start the tests and waited one or two minute to see the doctor. I picked out glasses and was out in less than one hour. I haven't seen an optometrist in 5 yrs. I have insurance but they pay only about $200 for exams and glasses/contacts. Here is my breaking down: Pros: Office is very clean, welcoming. Assistants are excellent and extremely nice. Same day appt available. Has fashionable frames. Has coupons available for contacts. Frame prices are average (~$200 for standard non-fancy frames). OD knows a lot and has some prestigious awards/diplomas (high honors from his class). Cons: Service costs are high ($129 for contact fitting on top of regular eye exams). No real discounts for multiple purchases (20% off on the second pair of eyeglasses frame only while I was considering paying almost $1000 on everything). Small service prices that did not tell you until services are already rendered ($19 here, $35 there etc). Overall, I like the thorough eye exams and information I received from this OD but I did not like the way that they charge you. I would have asked for different types of services if I knew how much each will costs me FIRST, not after the fact. I ended up walking away only with new lenses for my old pair of frames with insurance (although minimal coverage) and still costs me about $500. To be fair, I did get high-index lens with anti-reflection although no photochromic properties. read more

I had a little bit of a mix up with a contact prescription from an earlier appointment. But Dr. Buffo called and cleared up everything. I scratched my cornea the other day(and on my gosh that hurts like crazy!) and I called Dr. Buffo and he not only got me right in but didn't even charge me due to the mix up earlier. I was very disappointed by the service I received from Dr. Buffo and his staff. The doctor was friendly enough, but made a joke I thought inappropriate and had bad breath. While the exam he gave me seemed thorough, he missed a serious condition my regular Eye doctor had just discovered. When his office staff[they were VERY friendly], sold me a pair of glasses, they knew what my Insurance would cover, yet tried to steer me to more expensive options, in what I felt was an aggressive and dishonest manner. I had a loose screw in my prescription glasses from another optometrist that I could not get back in and I was afraid would drop out. I just looked on Yelp and found a nearby optometrist and walked in and met Monica who was very cheerful and offered to help me. it was a struggle as it took her about 10 minutes but she fixed my problem, refused to take payment even though I told her my current optometrist is a personal friend. My wife however is not as beholden to that friendship and will be coming in to see them. I understand why their reviews are all five stars now. read more
