I love that they offer appointments during lunch time since I work nearby and wouldn't need to take time off from work. The office is equipped with advanced technology. They have an equipment that can scan the back of the eye to detect any issues. Dr. Skromne took the time to explain and show me what the scans indicated. I did not feel rushed at all, and actually thought they were extra patient with me especially since I kept switching deciding between getting glasses or prescription sunglasses. Literally saved my vision. I'm beyond grateful for Dr. Skromme and his team. I went in for what I thought was just a routine eye exam, and they recommended a scan to screen my eye. Dr. Skromme reviewed the results and told me my retina was detaching and I needed to see a specialist immediately. I had no symptoms and even asked if it could wait until the next week because I was leaving town. He told me plainly that if I didn't go right away, I could lose the vision in my right eye permenently. The very next morning, I saw a retinel specialist who confirmed the diagnosis and even told me that Dr. Skromme is the best optometrist in Ventura, and sends cases that are challanging for their office to detect. I had surgery that same day, and it was successful. The surgeon said if I had waited, I likely would have lost my vision completely in that eye. I met with the optometrist on time - respecting my time and honoring the commitment is a huge +. I am back and my experience was s far different from my Kaiser experience. Got my new contacts in 3 days during Covid and I got to trial 3 different versions. Love the technology and the amount of time the Dr. spends making sure you understand and gets your prescription perfect. Well it takes them for ever to actually make the glasses then when you finally get them back the focal points are off. So who ever attempted to make the prescription FAILED! Took the glasses back and let them know what is going on. A couple of days later I received a call saying that they need the permission from the old doctor and could I call to let the old doctor release my information to the new doctor. I did and called two trees and left a message that it was ok for the doctor to call and get the info. Now over a month later I called two trees and the optometrist said "Oh we were waiting to hear back from you. So I ask for a refund because it is going to take another month and they want to get me for a restocking fee. I would stay away from this place, it is not run very well and they take zero responsibility for their or their lab screw ups. read more

Had a small miscommunication issue due to limited staff which is completely understandable from a small family owned business. If you're looking for a personal connection this is going to be the place. The Dr. Reached out and apologized for the miscommunication which wasn't really his fault but as a team leader he owned it. I went in needed safety glasses for work. Eye exam was painless and fast. Sat down to discuss lens options. I had frames from my old glasses I wanted to put lenses in so I wouldn't be without safety glasses for work. They are spy frames nothing out of the ordinary. That's when things changed. It seemed like after not needing to buy frames the friendly service was gone. Whatever! After signing waiver, I went on my way. 4 weeks later I called to see what was going on. I was put on hold while she called the lab, after returning I was told they are having an issue with my lenses and there was no ETA on my glasses." they will be done when they're done". I was shocked by how I was treated. I called back a week later and the response was the same. The only difference was I had to wait for a call back from optometrist on status. I receive call and was told 1 1/2 more weeks. Sooo, 6-1/2 weeks later I finally received glasses. Lenses are what to be expected for the price. OVERPRICED! Sad, now I have to find a new optometrist. read more

Great place! We've been coming here for just a couple of years and have never had a bad experience. The receptionist can occasionally be a little frumpy, but I would be too with all the people she must see in a day. People can be jerks when they are living the "customer" roll, so I give the receptionist slack. The new doctor, forgot her name, is awesome: thorough, extremely kind, patient, and an excellent teacher for explaining what is happening to my eyes. The young woman that helped me pick out glasses was a-maz-ing. I told her my old glasses were crazy-scratched and she told me they were still under warranty.
