I just want to start off by saying I seriously LOVE Blvd Vet! Dr. Dylan has been my veterinarian since I moved to Chicago (I have two dogs and a cat). We would never go anywhere else! We are so excited about this new location! It is just as beautiful, clean and welcoming as their location in Logan Square. From the minute you call to make an appointment (or ask an annoying question) the staff always makes you feel at ease and comfortable. We always get reminders about when our pets are due and since Blvd has convenient hours we can always find a time that works best for US. When you arrive for your appointment you don't feel like you are in a stuffy clinic but more like a home living room. The front desk knows your pets name and wants to hear about your day. The treat you like a person and not just a client. When you get into the exam room (also super amazing and comfortable) the technicians go over EVERYTHING and are very thorough and clearly know what they are doing. When the doctor comes in he spends time with you and doesn't rush through anything. He actually talks out his exam so you know what he is doing and what he is finding so there are no surprises. If my pet needs anything, whether it is shots or they are sick - we always get provided a cost breakdown before hand - so again, no surprises. We happened on Boulevard Veterinary River North after being unhappy with a previous vet. We walked in off the street and were immediately met with a very friendly staff and a cheerful, clean facility. After our appointment, we are completely happy with our choice. The care is wonderful. The staff couldn't be nicer with both the human parents and their "babies." Everything was explained to us before anything was done and we were encouraged to ask questions. Our cat remained calm. There has been excellent communication both before and post-visit. And while services and treatments were offered, there was no pushy up-selling like with the other vet. Will NEVER take my pet here again! I've been a client since 2018. Back then, it operated like a small town vet - relationship based with an emphasis on doing everything they could for the health of your pet. Over the last year, I've found their approach to be heartless, cold, and run like a big business with a revolving door of patients. In 2019, I called regarding concern with the gas & odor of my cat's bowel movements. Asked the receptionist if they could recommend a new food, probiotic, or maybe drop of a stool sample for testing. I got a very rude and snippy response of "we are not making any recommendations over the phone. Bring her in if there's a problem." Rude! Today, tho, was the worst experience of all! In 2018, my cat scratched her eye. I immediately called Blvd Vet, as a new client, & they displayed great compassion by working their schedule so she could be seen that evening because, as they said, "eyes are serious & should not wait". Today, 2 years later, same issue, scratch on the eye. Called Tuesday evening near closing time & was told to monitor her overnight and call 1st thing in AM if not better. Called 1st thing to have her seen & was told the soonest she could be seen was 2 days from now. I repeated to the Receptionist "this is not a routine check up but rather an urgent matter regarding her eye. Do you not have time slots assigned for these types of emergency needs?!" Receptionist said "if you think so important for her to be seen, take her to a pet emergency. We're full" I found this response to be very cold! I asked "could she be seen by your other location?" The receptionist "I don't know, I supposed I could check and see if they have any emergency appointments" To which I said, "oh, so you DO have those? So why can't I get in with one of "those" appt? She says "we're booked" Not sure how you can be booked in advance for an emergency appointment?!?! I've never heard of people calling the emergency room at 8am to make an appt for later in the day when they fall off a latter, slice their finger open, etc. Then she said, "send us pictures of the eye; and a doctor can take a look" - sent the pictures along with a message of how frustrating this whole ordeal has been. She responded to the message with "we are booked for the next 2 weeks now." and never responded with the doctor's response to the picture....assuming she never gave them to Dr. What a lovely, compassionate creature to be working the front desk & the gatekeeper of info to the doctor. Seems to me ones ego should always be put aside for the care of an animal. NEVER AGAIN! Your pet deserves better! read more

We had an emergency and my normal vet was closed. Boulevard got me in so quickly! The techs who checked me in were so friendly and so great with my dog. Dr. Eiman and Dr. Chen were also wonderful, answered all of my questions, and called me with updates as needed. I was never worried about leaving my dog in their care. The treatment we were given today was beyond reprehensible. I live near Boulevard Veterinary River North and I work near West Loop Veterinary, so I have taken my pug Bogart to both. The difference between the two could not be more stark than what happened today. Bogart pooped a lot of blood, the first time that has ever happened. I immediately called Boulevard Vet, panicked. The receptionist asked if he was eating and drinking normally. I said yes, but he has ejected a whole lot of blood! She said, 'I'm sorry but we are fully booked and if his vitals are okay we cannot see him.' I was stunned. I hung up and called West Loop Veterinary Care and they said "Bring him in right away and we'll do triage." We did. Turned out he has a bad UTI and needs immediate care. NEVER EVER EVER EVER GO TO BOULEVARD VETERINARY RIVER NORTH AGAIN IF YOU WANT TRUE CARE! read more

Wanted to update my review because recently we had gone in for several visits to see Dr. Josie Arbogast and she has been absolutely amazing! Our puppy was losing hair everywhere and we had tried a variety of topical and oral medications without seeing any improvement, finally she was able to help us narrow down that our puppy had developed a food allergy and was able to prescribe a course of treatment that has our puppy's coat looking better than it even did before!! We are still in the course of treatment, but things are definitely going uphill and we are so happy that Dr. Arbogast was able to help us get to the bottom of it. Also her vet tech is so nice and patient with us, explaining everything fully - shout out to her as well!! read more

I was very diligent when researching where to take our golden retriever puppy and was very nervous in starting a new relationship with a vet. I must say, I was blown away at how great this place was. It has a boutique feel, super clean and modern, and the staff is super friendly. I especially LOVED the doctor we saw, Dr. Arbogast. She was so personable and extremely knowledgeable. She took time to really understand what our puppy's issues were instead of making me feel rushed like many other vets. Recently left the Chicago area but wanted to make sure this business got the full happy review. My puppy was sick and I was stuck late at the hospital- the vet and staff stayed late for me even though they definitely did not have to. I was so appreciative and after she got some fluids and medicine she felt much better. I honestly couldn't thank this clinic for helping me in such a bad time. My pup kept getting really sick and after being to a few clinics in west town/ west loop she only got worse. They gave her a poor outcome but no solutions and minimal guidance on how to proceed . I came home to her covered in blood and I knew it was time to say bye. She was only 3, the clinic got us right in.gave me some alone time and let me take her home so to place her to rest at my childhood home. This happened last year;I have no idea what dr helped me but I really wish he knows how thankful I am. My girl isn't in pain, no more bleeding, no more wimpiers or cries. He helped me at my worst and I'm sure he does the same for everyone else read more

She is not only very personable and took her time with us, she was very detailed, thorough and our cat is basically in love with her. Had a great experience taking my new rescue dog to Boulevard Veterinary for a preliminary checkup before I finished the adoption process. One word describes my review: Disappointment. I have been going to BLVD River North since they first opened with my first dog, that's about 5 years. I since have brought my second dog to see them since I got him 5 months ago. Having been a loyal customer, through the pandemic, and beyond, I called them in distress last week while they were still open for another 3 hours begging them to see my puppy who had gotten bit and to avoid the astronomical fees of an emergency vet. They gave me a very crafted response, that was cold and pre-written. After begging them to ask their supervisor if I they could flex and possibly see my puppy before they closed in the next three hours, they still, told me "no" and to try going to an emergency vet since they were fully booked. Again, I begged to receive the same answer again. In the last few months I have spent upwards of $3,000 at this vet, and much more over the last five years. The fact that they couldn't flex in my time of need, when they were still open, shows me that all they care about is $$ and not the dogs themselves. I am VERY disappointed and will be switching to West Loop Vet. read more

Walking my dog in their neighborhood when he took Ill. Walked in at 445 on a Friday without an appointment. They saw that my dog was in distress and brought him in for triage. Diagnosis was heat stroke or close to it. Stabilized him and probably saved his life. They did some blood tests and sent us on for 24-hour care which is what he needed. We recently moved out of the River North area, but our dog Squeaks was a patient at BLVD for several years. We absolutely love Boulevard! In fact, Squeaks would stop and cry at the door when we would walk past, because she wanted to stop in and say hi. We have seen several of the vets at BLVD, and we have had nothing but a positive experience. This is our first dog, and the vets were always there to answer our millions of questions! The vet techs are all amazing, and so are the client care specialists. Our dog had pet insurance, and BLVD made it easy by helping us to submit the claims. Wow, what a great first vet experience for my boyfriend and I and our puppy Henry! As soon as we walked in we were enthusiastically welcomed by the receptionist. She was cheerful and very interested in our pup. I was having such a great conversation with her that I didn't even get to fully take in the CLEAN and modern waiting room that I believe most pets and humans would find zen and non-stressful. After only waiting 5 minutes for our appointment, Dr. Dylan and his assistant Ashli saw us and the appointment far exceeded any of my expectations. They were so sweet to Henry, truly interested in him and answered all the questions I had. Since we were the last appointment of the day I was nervous that we would be rushed but Dr. Dylan was so detailed and even spent time showing us training tricks and giving us more information about Henry's breed. When I first saw Dr. Arbogast, I was desperately seeking a second opinion after one of my dogs was very sick despite multiple visits to another vet clinic. Dr. Arbogast took the time to properly diagnose and treat her, and personally went above and beyond to make sure that she recovered and received the best care. Since then, we only see Dr. Arbogast! Unfortunately, there is no way I could possibly retain the services of either location under any circumstance. I live in several locations and am a dog owner. I always use the vet services in any location where the dogs may be to attend to their medical needs. If services are performed in one location, all other vets used are updated with the new medical records, etc. There has never been a time when all of the vets in all locations did not recognize and uphold the work product of the other vets until Boulevard refused under any circumstance to sell Heartgard even with they being in possession of my dogs full medical records. They insisted on the expense of a medical exam as a prerequisite to selling this medication even after the exam of other vets and no other vet ever having caused this problem. I can only extrapolate that any medical procedure or exam performed by another vet will also not be upheld by Boulevard. Their ploy for the unnecessary expense of an exam, etc. simply does not square with any other vet practice. Hence, there is no way I can use Boulevard under any circumstance. read more

Disappointed in experience. I have been a client of BLVD River North since 2019. My most recent experience has me switching vet care permanently for my dog. I brought him in as he was not feeling well and seemed lethargic. To note he had been previously seen in April 2021 for his wellness check-up and some vaccines. They diagnosed the issue and he pulled a muscle in his back and was given medicine. I was also informed of new aliments that were not brought up or discussed on the previous visit. Along with the new heart murmur came the request to have an echocardiogram, a full dental clean, and another panel of blood work (separate from the one that was done on the visit) and an ultra sound for a slightly elevated liver enzyme. As you can image getting thousands of dollars in test estimates after the almost $400 I had spent on a visit seemed a bit aggressive. I was upset and felt that something was off with all of these expensive recommendations. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to spend money on my pup when there is a need but after getting a second opinion my new vet let me know that besides a teeth cleaning (which was not a dire need) my pup did not need the diagnostic work that had been recommended. Each vet is different and offers different paths to caring for your animal, but the new vet themselves said that what was recommended was quite aggressive and not necessary. Although the BLVD River North office is a nice clean setting and their reception staff is great, I would say be cautious with what tests and diagnostic workups they recommend. Second opinions are a must as it seems as though with the newer vets onsite have shifted their priorities into selling vs. what is in the best interest of the pets or in the best interest of the owners. My wife and I don't have kids, except we do because we have our little blue pitbull, LT. I believe the bond between human and canine is extra special, and in my case probably essential to my emotional survival! Finding the right vet is so hard for many people, and it's extra hard for me. So believe me when I say that Dr. Dylan and the team at Blvd. Vet are incredible. Wonderful vibes, they always remember LT, and she just loves it there too! We've had to deal with some stressful, if minor, surgeries for cancerous skin growths, and the team has always every step of the way made me feel supported, answered my numerous and worrying questions lovingly, were very clear and straightforward about costs, options, etc, and never make me feel like they're simply selling me services. Could not recommend more highly the team here and at their Logan Square location as well. We love them. read more

I recently took my dog Boulevard and I'm so impressed. We had been seeing another vet, but when it came to dealing with her worsening anxiety, we needed a second opinion. The staff at Boulevard has been amazing. Tori, the technician, was so nice and patient. Dr. Josie is great! She listened to my concerns and was so kind and comforting with my dog. After talking through my dog's anxiety and what we've tried in the past Dr. Josie came up with a treatment plan that was targeted towards the issue and is really working. I hesitate to write this because I don't want too many people finding out about how great Blvd is, but this place is truly awesome. After calling the vet that I had brought my dog to for a handful of years, telling them my 4 yr old dog had persistent diarrhea and blood in the stool for several days, only to be told that they could see him 8 days from then, I knew they didn't care about my dog. So I went on Yelp and found Boulevard and am so happy that I did. When I told the receptionist about our situation, her response was this: "Our first available appt isn't until Monday (3 days away) but I don't think you should wait that long, so we'll squeeze you in today." I was thrilled we'd be able to be seen that day and couldn't have been more thankful for her empathy and understanding, despite the fact that we had never even been seen there. Once we arrived that afternoon, the visit was even better. All in all, the front desk, the technician Dani, and Dr Williams were all amazing. We came to Boulevard Veterinary River North because of our experience with Dr. Tyler Williams when he was working for PetSmart. Quite simply put, he is an unquestionably outstanding veterinary professional. He is the sole reason we followed him to River North when we found out that he had left PetSmart. Throughout the years there, our Yorkshire Terrier, Mr. Peepers (aka Mugsy), received excellent care and service from Dr. Williams. And through Mr. Peepers many trials and issues, Dr. Williams would always give advice that you just intuitively know it's the absolute right knowledge from the animal's, owner's, and the practice perspective with completely reasonable financial considerations. When you find someone of Dr. Williams professionalism, you tend to stick with that person, whether they are a banker, real estate agent, lawyer, MD, or even a reliable dry cleaners or your go to Michelin star restaurant. That's why when we had to let Mr. Peepers go after 11 years and we got another Yorkshire Terrier, Mojo, we followed Dr. Williams to Boulevard. And as long as he's there, we will continue to come there. As stated elsewhere, he is truly the BEST of the BEST with complete confidence.
