I went here while visiting for Christmas. This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The food was amazing with unique touches such as pickled avocado. However, what really made this restaurant so special was the attentive staff. Our waitress (I can't remember her name) was probably the best waitress I have ever had at any restaurant. Maybe I don't get out that much but this place scored big with several best ever entrées. The kale salad was the best. The asparagus soup was the best. The pork chop was the best and my wife thought her steak was the best. The mix of the herbs and vegetables to enhance main meat were very well done! My parents called me up and said hey we are in this town in Ky we need a dinner place. A quick Yelp check and I sent this and a place in Cincinnati. They LOVED it! Texted through the meal about how much they were enjoying it. They tried another restaurant the next night on a recommendation by their Bouquet waitresses recommendation and had a horrible meal. Wow!!! I'm not sure that I've had food this good... period! We heard about this place from some foodie friends and decided to give it a shot. I had a small crab cake plate with the soup of the day, beet soup. The crab cake was just amazing, and I didn't even know that I could like beets. My husband had the Flank Steak. We both loved the meal. Homemade ice cream and great wine added to the experience. I would highly recommend checking this place out! read more

The physical space at Bouquet (shouldn't that be Bucket?) is pleasant but unassuming. The staff is friendly and the service is good. But it's the food that is the star in this dining experience. Went here for my brother-in-law's birthday. We had a group of kids in our party and, although the restaurant is not what you'd call kid-friendly, they were very accommodating, nevertheless. Our server was absolutely outstanding... and interesting fact: his brother was a Next Iron Chef contestant (Nate Appleman). I suppose the restaurant business is in his blood, and it shows. The food was flavorful, arrived at an appropriate pace, and was generally very well received by everyone at the table. Lastly, the chefs prepared a tasty vegan dish for my father, which was great, as he is often left eating uninspired salads when we dine out at most places. But here they apparently whipped up something which he really enjoyed. All-in-all, food was excellent, but it was the service that brought it to 5-stars. read more

Top 10 living up to it's status. Came here to celebrate our 5th anniversary, I had their Tofu dish. Yes, their Tofu. It was delicious. Get over it. The bartender was our server and he was on POINT. Great wine knowledge, and attentive even when taking care of the bar. Dessert was the shizzzz. So, to sum it up for you, come for a drink, come for dinner, or come for dessert. I know some of the area natives may disagree with this, but I always like going down to certain parts of Covington on an early summer evening to take in the new Covington scene and to grab a bite to eat. It's such an eclectic mix of scenery / people of new + old + slick + unappealing - it's just different, all mixed together, and I like it. And I really like Bouquet, and I'm ecstatic I could finally get my wife to give it a try tonight... We ditched the kids for a change and had reservations for 8:45PM (kids probably not advised for Bouquet). We made the quick "blockish" walk to Bouquet from our parking spot and I always take notice of the nice curb appeal the Bouquet sidewalk seating area possesses as you approach the restaurant - I always tell myself "that'd be a nice place to try sometime" but never do - maybe someone can actually do it and write a review about how awesome it is so I can live vicariously through them. Anyhow, we walked into the restaurant and as always, things are kept in remarkable order. It's tastefully decorated, and not overdone with artwork that keeps you distracted the entire night. I think they try to keep you focused on the charm of the really old historical building you are in - seems clever when you've sunk that much money into making it looking nice. Being the small restaurant that it is, it only has 10 - 15 tables and I'd say another 6 or 7 bar stools for customers to dine at - it makes for a real quaint environment amongst patrons. Music is lightly played as well. All elements mixed together screams "date spot" to me so don't be bashful if it is your first time out and you are contemplating Bouquet - if you are in charge of picking, you might score major creativity points for nailing this spot. As always, the food is insanely thoughtful and very tasty. Every time I eat at Bouquet, I walk out and can't get over how much flavor I just tasted. I almost feel like it might be a fun game for the chef to make different flavor combinations that are so good, yet, are unlike anything you have ever had. I'm always amazed. Last night we had the Spinach Salad (AMAZING, but unfortunately a special item), the crab cake (always solid), the Bistro Steak (always great) and some amazing desert concoction who's name escapes me. I've been to Bouquet on several occasions now, and I find it hard to believe that I'd ever take issue with any of the food, but if I did, I'm sure they'd promptly remedy the situation. What was unfortunate about our visit last night was that we missed out on one of our entrees that we intended to eat. We ordered the Alaskan Halibut from the menu which was explained to us as the dish that the chef had prepared for the very exclusive James Beard Dinner mere weeks earlier (and apparently had rave reviews). Somewhere along the line of commotion, our intent to have this dish was either misplaced, or merely just forgotten. It was unfortunate since our waitress did such an impeccable job walking us through the menu and actually even coaxed me into ordering it as our second entrée to the Bistro Steak that my wife and I ordered. It sure was an honest mistake. In hindsight, I could see how easy the oversight would be given how much time and attention each wait staff spends with each individual table discussing the menu's at length. Anyhow - it's one of those encounters that you can't be mad about, but it's certainly one that impacts your evening - even if just a little. The one upside was that our bill was $35 cheaper I suppose, and we weren't starving at the end of the night! All in all, great experience. I wish the small snafu wouldn't have happened on my wife's first night at the restaurant so her opinion could be built on the strong foundation mine was built upon, but hopefully she is more forgiving than I am. I'm going to give it a four stars (not five) for: a) Lack of execution on not getting my entrée that evening b) Several dishes that I was left either wanting a larger portion, or wanting more of a certain condiment that accompanied the star of the dish. c) Wait between service intervals was often longer than normal relative to other five star dining establishments. read more

Everything started out so well with the cheese/meat plate for my group of three last Monday but it quickly went down hill. My husband has some food intolerances so we bring a little business card with things that he shouldn't eat so that we can be informed if we try to order something with those things in the dish. The waitress/kitchen INSISTED on making him something special ela carte so we were pleasingly surprised and excited to know they would go the extra mile for him. Another server brought us our food and we didn't see our waitress again for 20 minutes; if we had, we would have told her that my pork chop was severely over salted. By far though, the worse offender was the tofu dish (THAT IS ALREADY ON THE MENU) that the kitchen gave my husband. It's bad enough that he hates tofu (and can eat a lot of the meats on the menu), it's even worse that they charged us $25 for it. We'll never be back. read more

This place may be benefiting from our expectations but it delivered in a big way. Adorable little restaurant with inventive dishes utilizing fresh ingredients. We started with cocktails, which were creative and delicious. Cassoulet, salad, trout and 24 hour brisket were all perfectly prepared with a great combination of ingredients. The PB&J dessert did not disappoint. Our server Paige was extremely knowledgeable and led us to a lovely assortment of dishes. Slight debit in marks for having to sit at the deuce in between the bathrooms. read more

What treat! We stopped in for a light bite while staying overnight at a local hotel. Grace greeted us at the door and welcomed us. We had to move from our initial location as the air conditioning unit made our first table a bit chilly - that and it was situated between the two bathrooms doors - not a place to dine. Anyway, Grace was excellent, explaining the various items on the menu. Based on her recommendation, we enjoyed a glass of wine and the "mother board" of charcuterie. Amazing Amazing flavors!! Wonderful establishment. 8pm dinner reservation, 78 degrees maybe, sat outside and had Rose Prosecco followed by the cheese plate. Wonderful assortment, the Fig sauce was rad. We had the pork chops, the scallops, and hanger steak. I think these guys excel at sauces. I was tasting hints of curry in many of the dishes, I think but im not sure... but i think i was tasting homemade garam masala. What I like about this place is the flavors just keep going and going. We finally made it to Bouquet restaurant and what a great discovery. The food was so good, fresh, tasty, innovative. The best tofu ever. Even if you are not a vegetarian you would love it. What a find! This is definitely a fine dining experience. The fish they serve is the BEST I have ever had - it's cooked to perfection. I always get the fish because it is SO good and it consistently exceeds my expectations. We also tried their crab dip (so tasty!), salads and pickles (Yum!) and the pork loin (to die for). This was our 3rd visit to Bouquet. Each time we travel toward Cincinnati/ northern Kentucky, we discuss dining at Bouquet, and we wonder if it was as good as we remember each meal being. The short answer is, very much yes, and more so. The service was spectacular, the pacing and portion sizes were excellent. The well-curated wine, beer, and spirit lists and the crafted cocktails make it a destination without the food. The servers make educated recommendations for pairings, modifications (if needed), and most importantly, are friendly and know the menu well. This place deserves its accolades and remains a hidden gem even with them. read more

The only thing that kept it from being 5 star for me was the ambiance. It's super romantic and quiet, which is great for that kind of night, but it was my birthday and I'd rather have a more lively atmosphere. I booked our reservations almost a week in advance. I tried making reservations the weekend before and it was already booked pretty much through the weekend so they seem to book up well in advance. My husband and I were looking forward to trying this highly rated restaurant and having a romantic dinner. We chose a Riesling wine that the server recommended that was excellent. I had the steak dish and my husband ordered their sea bass special they were offering. Our food was very good and beautifully presented. This is the type of restaurant that is about quality and presentation. The one thing that was disappointing for us was that we were seated right beside the bar. It was a very high traffic area right near the entrance. During our dinner the bar was packed with people which really detracted from any romantic ambiance we were hoping to experience. read more

This is one of our friends' regular and favorite places. We were visiting from Portland and had dinner there with them. Entrees of pork belly, sea bass, and park chop were well-prepared and tasty. Blueberry cobbler and a peanut butter-chocolate-blueberry pie wrapped it up. Server Wendell was nice and made us feel at home. He had a great sense of humor, particularly with regard to an appropriately-sized dessert spoon for our trouble maker. :) read more

Wow! Last night was my first time at this restaurant and it was really really good. I had the hanger steak. My boyfriend had the bison. My friend had the scallops. All were delicious. I also recommend the green bean ceasar salad, mushroom curry soup, and the quinoa. So unique and so good! The presentation was above and beyond - our plates were works of art. Stopped in for last minute dinner about 30 minutes before they closed. We were greeted with exceptionally accommodating attitudes and smiling faces. Bouquet went out of their way to accommodate food allergies that were present in our party, and they took their time to explain each dish we were interested in. They have an extensive bourbon selection, and although not listed, they will do a flight of your selection for 1/2 off the listed price which was just a blast. Appetizers and entrees were all impeccable, oozing flavor and culinary expertise in every bite. The ambiance is fantastic as well with a smallish dining room that feels as though you're almost dining in an upscale downtown home. Loved my time here and would go back without hesitation. You owe it to yourself to stop in and see these wonderful people. read more

Truly an incredible dining experience. Indoor seating as well as outdoor when the weather is nice. We didn't find anything on the menu that wasn't incredibly fresh, and decadently delicious. This is only the second review I have given on a restaurant, and I'm in them often. But, I felt compelled to do this because i think it has so much more potential. This place could be great, but based on my experience and observation, it needs some perspective. The atmosphere was awesome, very warm and inviting. And, the menu was creative and very interesting. I ordered a glass of wine, and received what I was told was 5 oz. of wine. The wine barely came above the curve at the bottom of the glass.. and I politely asked how much was the pour. The bartender, who was a very nice guy, indicated that is was 5 oz. and he expanded by saying he inquired with his buddies in the area and that was the norm. (Hmm.. not anywhere I go) He also said that it allowed them to bring in more expensive and better quality wine versus serving what you can find anywhere. I indicated that I'd need another shortly, and he came back with one with a reasonable pour and was very nice to do that. It was probably about 6 oz. but at least looked like it was worth paying for it. Again, very nice that he did that and responded to my inquiry. I was torn between two dishes, and he indicated that I could probably do the best of both world's, he would ask the chef. Again, very nice. And, the Chef complied and brought a combination that I wanted. The dish was very good. So my observation on both was this... I looked around the entire restaurant and bar, and notice that almost everyone was drinking water. I saw only 3-4 people with cocktails, and there were probably at least 15 people or more total. Strange, wondering if they simply didn't want to pay the money for a too small pour of wine, or spend it for more than one. Liquor is very profitable, so appears to be a big miss. In regards to the food, I can only make a judgement on my meal. I love the fact that the Chef customized my meal, and it was very tasty. However, it was quite salty.. and when I left i felt like I ate 2 meals. This is the kind of place that I would like to revisit, ambiance is a draw for me. But, to me it just doesn't warrant the spend. What I would recommend if the proprietor is reading this... Capitalize on your location and ambiance... promote great drinks or wine, and give your patrons something worth paying for. Give them a great experience. And for the food, I concede that my opinion is only one dish, and even though I wish it would have been less full of sodium, was nice. Encourage the chef of pleasing the customer, and just be aware of how heavy, salty or otherwise. I'm in food, and indulging is fun, but there are also ways to enjoy a dish that is wonderful in taste but doesn't make you feel bad after. read more

Great food and fabulous service! We enjoyed dinner outside and watched passersby. We ordered a few appetizers- Brussel sprouts with blue cheese and ham, crab dip, and the asparagus salad - all so good! I had the Maple City Duck, which was to die for. My colleagues had the scallops with risotto and said it was delicious. We also had delicious wine and dessert - the PB and chocolate chip blondies were amazing! On a date night with another couple and chose this place as an alternative to downtown OTR Cincinnati. BIG MISTAKE. The reviews, service, and ambiance is good. The food, not do much. Fish, pork, and burger over cooked. It's seems like they are trying really hard to do upscale and just missing the mark, especially for the price. Farm to table is pretty popular these days. You feel good eating the food because it's fresh. You feel good eating the food because it presumably came from a local farm. You can just picture Oliver Wendell Douglas on his tractor, harvesting his corn in a three-piece suit just for your plate. Bouquet isn't Green Acres (thankfully) but the food is fresh, delicious and as unpretentious as the Hooverville General Store. I ordered a duck dish that was crispy, flavorful and not greasy. The pork chop was a full piece of meat, juicy and seasoned just right. They have a well-stocked bar and the wait staff is knowledgeable, prompt and seems to be happy to be there. It was a little loud on the Friday night we were there, but it wasn't too distracting. There is construction nearby so parking is tough (it always is in Main Strasse) but you can valet a block away and Bouquet will validate for you. read more

In response to all the overwhelmingly positive reviews, I am being a bit more critical. The servers and owners had a great attitude which shined through, and that counts for a lot. The atmosphere was welcoming - good music/decibel level, although it was dark. In the summer, it is off-putting before sunset. Importantly, the wine selection is small, but reasonable. More importantly, I was not blown away by my food selections. The asparagus salad really sang 'added sugar' hidden away somewhere in the dressing or the granola?, which detracted from the natural flavors. The risotto was undercooked and heavy. It felt drenched in smoked Gouda and Parmesan and set-up quickly when the temperature dropped. They clearly use fresh ingredients and have a knack, but not close to a 5 star food experience for me.
