Bourbon Grill was an old favorite of mine (at their old location) for years when I first moved to Denver. I returned last week with my wife and was disappointed that the food did not live up to my memories. The chicken was super dry, and the mac n cheese was unappetizing, to put it nicely. The bourbon chicken had nice flavor but not enough sauce, and was super dry. The bbq chicken was....not our favorite at all. Would not recommend any more unfortunately. read more

I just stopped in to have the bourbon chicken entree and an egg roll. I wasn't that hungry so I didn't try the other sides. Also on a diet so I would have only had the vegetables. The owner is sincere and kind. I recognized him from somewhere where I have served him at some point. The food was hot and fresh, chicken was very good! Not sure how they can dial in the blackened chicken without getting a burnt taste? I mean this is how you want it. Ten more seconds cooking and it tastes like charcoal. They got it dialed in. I really enjoyed my plate. It was an exceptionally large plate in a tiny box. When he grabbed the box for my order I thought I probably should have ordered more food. I had leftovers. The area has some struggles with vagrants and parking. The interior tables and chairs need a good scrubbing, (all the surfaces were well kept and I could have sat anywhere) . I understand it's hard to keep it spotless with the dust from the street and the high school crowd. If they can get the dine in area clean I'd give them 5 stars. My constructive criticism. This place is just great! Nostalgic for sure for me and the family, as we've been eating here since we first got to Denver 12 years ago. I remember when $25 here would feed me, the now ex-wife, and 2 kids from the literal hole in the wall when we were broke and just to make it in this city. They've since moved down the street to a brick n mortar establishment, but the product is the same, maybe slightly better! The "kids" are now 13 and 15 and one combo still feeds both of their obscenely hungry teen bodies. We're from Louisiana and know good food and they were commenting about how they wish Denver had more of these types of places that just have good food with their own style that's just not even slightly pretentious. This place is a joke . They don't even have a working telephone number ... ordered food last night , the driver goes to pickup the order and they completely cancel the order all together . I paid for a mail here and then afterwards I asked if I could use the bathroom and I was told no so I paid for a meal I tipped and was not allowed to use the bathroom and then a white person asked to use the bathroom and they were allowed to go. Got bourbon grill for pick up. It was a bit pricey for the concept but it is well worth it. I got the Bourbon Chicken, Mac n cheese and corn. One meal turned into 3 meals because the portions are large. Taste was great, but for me I added salt to the sides. Would definitely recommend. read more

I've been coming here since I moved to Denver. My first experience was at their other smaller location; the window. Covered in cardboard signs saying park at your own risk at Burger King! After waiting in line in a soft gentle rain, I began to notice everyone was patient and calm. Each person one order at a time ordering then receiving their food. Once I ate it, I understood. The location is a bit rough, but we managed to get on-street parking right out front. Several locals in line (quick moving) show this is a neighborhood gem! The service was top notch and the portions were HUGE (like- 4 meals in one container!) so definitely be prepared to take home leftovers. Both the BBQ and bourbon chicken were delicious, as were the corn and mac and cheese. The spicy noodles tasted more like a bbq spaghetti dish, but the rice under the platters was perfect. It pains me to write this. I hoped this day would never come. Bourbon Grill has offered me immense comfort in their food for the past year and a half. I wake up in the morning and restrain myself from ordering bourbon grill because if I could, I would eat it every single day unfortunately that may kill me due to my high cholesterol. But today I decided to treat myself and order bourbon grill before I went into work. I sat down in my dining room table. Put a movie on and happily went to town on my food. I always order the number one classic chicken and rice with potatoes and mac & cheese truly a delight. I can never finish the whole meal so I packed up my leftovers put them in the fridge and thought about them all day at work as I knew I was going to finish them when I got home. I didn't eat anything between then. During my shift, I began to feel a little off, a little ill. I then proceeded to show symptoms of some of the worst food poisoning a person has ever come to know. I got home early and proceeded to spend 3 1/2 hours in my restroom . I was a prisoner in there. I could not leave even if I wanted to I then spent the rest of the night asking God why, begging for forgiveness, Shivering under my blankets, breaking into sweats, gagging at the site of water. So now I write this as a precaution . Still under my blankets, still feeling nauseated .I don't know what I did to deserve this hell. Bourbon grill you broke my heart. I understand mistakes happen. But I have never experienced the pain and suffering that I have at this moment. Please be more careful next time as I am a fragile girl already, and if my will to live wasn't as strong as it is now I may have not made it. And I don't want anyone else to experience this pain. Used to love this place and there's still hope. I used to live a couple blocks away but now I have to use DD. I always ask for 2 sides of extra bourbon sauce and they haven't included 4 times in a row. This food is great, however without extra sauce it's just dry, overcooked chicken. To the restaurant: if you don't want to give extra sauce without an extra charge, then add a "side of sauce" option to the menu. There are tables on the inside so you can definitely sit and eat- I elected to just do take out. The portions are insane because you will definitely have enough for leftovers from the combo meal. It was really good, I love that the orders automatically come with rice. It's the best because you get all the juices from the chicken and extra sauce they put on so it tastes so good. My work friends were going to get lunch and had raves about this place so I decided to try it. Was a treat from them so why not? Went with the blackened fish combination meal which comes with two sides and steamed rice. I chose the sautéed Cajun potatoes and egg rolls. FYI the egg rolls made me think plural but it's one egg roll. The Cajun potatoes were average. A little oily for me. The blackened fish though - excellent. Well seasoned and cooked. Delicious! And there was enough portions of it that I was happy. One of the better blackened fish I have tasted. And I saved some for the next day and after being warmed up the fish was still delish. HOT DAMN! After a classmate brought in a takeout order from Bourbon Grill I knew I had to stop in and check it out for myself. Star #1 - Fast and efficient. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes with just one person ahead of me. Star #2 - The bourban chicken is bomb! Perfectly grilled large chunks of chicken topped with a sauce reminiscent of a teriyaki. Star #3 - I opted for cajun potatoes and spicy noodles for my sides. They were sooo good! Holy moly they give you a TON of food! We have been wanting to check this place out forever and finally stopped in the other night. Now that they have moved they have seating available and a large TV that was playing Monday night football. The place was busy as usual but the line goes fast. Like a well oiled machine for sure. We ordered 2 of the #1 combos which is the bourbon chicken with 2 sides. I got mac n cheese and green beans and my husband got mac n cheese and the spicy noodles. The guy kept scooping more and more chicken over the mountain of rice and made it extra saucy to soak in to that rice. Everything was freakin amazing! the mac n cheese is a must.
