Cuz enjoyed her meal as well

Definitely!!! Hole in the wall places are THE BEST!!! This BBQ is banging and the prices are the lowest that I've ever seen for a BBQ restaurant The restaurant also has upstairs with outdoor roof top bar and balcony. The rib tips w/ potato salad and beans were the perfect hit on a beautiful hot day! I'll definitely return here when back in the area. The service was great! As always, There's plenty of parking onsite which was awesome because being so close to downtown usually there's a cost to park.

Cobbler with no crust but still good

I decided to venture away from the restaurants near my hotel adjacent to the convention center because I was craving Texas/southern style BBQ. My walk (on Champa St) ended when I saw their sign and back patio area. The restaurant looks like a sort of island oasis as the building is flanked by well trafficked streets. Also it looks to be the only restaurant in the area, my quick scan noticing mostly apartments and mixed industrial spaces. You literally can't miss them! That said, it's more than a stand which isn't what I expected. The interior is spacious and has table service (upstairs), gathering/hangout space outside (and inside) as well as plenty of parking. I was there around "linner" time, which was relatively empty of people. The dude at the counter was friendly and was more than happy to guide me through their menu. I had a 3 meal meat combo: 2 ribs, pulled pork and brisket. Also had two sides: green beans and slaw. And dessert! I left full and was happy to be able to "walk off" my linner. The pulled pork so awesome ! Tender, Smokey 100% delicious. I can say the same about the ribs and add they were very tender...I could have an entire rack no problem. The brisket wasn't my favorite, I don't like the way it was served, which was chopped...not sure if it can be requested another way. I would have preferred slices of brisket. Also texture wise it was a little dry. The sides were awesome! The cobbler, hmm, I loved it, as it was sweet but it didn't have any crust only some crunchy stuff that left me wanting crust...again delicious and very much a dessert but definitely not what I expected nor would describe as a traditional cobbler. Flavor was sold though. Overall, my craving for BBq and desire to go outside of what's being offered near the convention center was more than satisfied. Great meal at a great value. I think I spent less than $25 for my combo and dessert. I doubt I'll spend less money on food the rest of my time in the downtown area!

1/2 lb riblet special, side of Cole slaw and Mac and cheese

10/10! A good BBQ place is hard to find, but this place has become in instant classic in my opinion. The parking could be a hard thing being located in Denver, but I was lucky to go on my lunch break and found instant parking and was in and out in a matter of seconds. They have a good size menu, and specials to keep it easy to order. But I was blown away by how tender the riblets were. Well smoked and hearty. The sides are equally well prepared. With fair prices you can easily walk away with left overs. I love that they have two stories to seat and host, a night out with friends and or family would be great here. If you love Denver sports I don't think you can go wrong eating here before or after the games... I'll be back soon!

I had an opportunity to pop in here for a quick lunch with friends. After finding this place on Yelp (and being disappointed by a failed attempt at getting BBQ elsewhere a couple days prior), I thought I'd check this place out. It was within walking distance of where I was staying so that also made it a good choice. When we arrived the place wasn't very busy and we decided to check out the upstairs. It was not busy either and had open air seating creating a very laid back atmosphere. It seemed to be a good area to sit so we grabbed some menus from the bar and a table. Shortly after, our Server came over with waters and took our orders once we were ready. He turned out to be very friendly and was good about checking up on us, offering to refill our drinks and casual small talk. He even shared with us the story around receiving their Yelp award. I decided to try a quarter pound of smoked brisket and a half pound of smoked rib tips. Their meat comes just smoked with their dry rub and no sauce, just the way that I prefer it. Naked. They had a selection of sauces that you add yourself including some made-in-house and Sweet Baby Rays. I enjoyed my BBQ sans sauce. Apparently, the mac-n-cheese and the bob can be hard to come by and my companions lucked up and were able to obtain both. Overall, I enjoyed my meal here and if I had discovered them sooner during my visit, I probably would have come back 1 or 2 more times to try different smoked meats.

Rib Tip Special

The food was decent. I really enjoyed the potato salad and brown sugar bbq beans. The rib tip was nice and juicy. I also tried the chopped chicken which was a little dry for me. But the choices of bbq helped. They range from sweet, mild, hot and extra hot. The ambiance was a bbq shack pub feel. I definitely prefer bbq more on the smoked side and charcoal taste. I was missing that. The service was quick and the gentleman was very helpful with assisting in choosing most popular dishes.

3 meat combo. Ribs/rib tips/brisket and baked beans.

Omg!!! Great flavor and generous portions. Worth every penny. And it's affordable. The vibe is friendly and service is amazing. Definitely coming back again.

Reed was an excellent, friendly and helpful waiter at this charming restaurant with a local flavor. It is the BEST BBQ I have ever had!!! The sauces make the experience unique. I wish I could buy some to bring home. Our hotel made sure to tell us it wasn't fancy but it was a welcoming, homey place upstairs. And the aroma of the food makes the decision of what to order very difficult! I eyed a number of peoples' plates and wasn't sure what to get! We ended up ordering the popular "Bobby". It was a little dry but the brisket, beans and coleslaw were epic! We ordered a second round because there were too yummy to pass up. And what can't be left out is the freshly steeped iced tea. It was delicious! So hard to find restaurants that make that special effort these days. I hope we get to go back before our trip is over.

It was our first time here last week - and we were very pleasantly surprised by our experience, and wish we had come in sooner! There's plenty of seating both upstairs and downstairs - we chose to sit upstairs where it's full service and there's a full bar. The tables are under a covered area/with openings around the outside of the room that let lots of air in, which was great. Our server/bartender was wonderful - super attentive- took our drink order, brought our drinks over, and took our food order. There's a basket near the stairs that has all of the plates, sauces, etc where you help yourself to what you want. Our food arrived about ten minutes after we ordered. I went with the two meat combo - I selected the ribs and the beef brisket, along with three sides, potato salad, coleslaw, and spicy green beans. All of the food was delicious (and generously portioned). We are excited to come back, and try more of the menu!

When they closed, they decided to take the leap of faith, rebrand slightly, and carry on the tradition. Well it's probably been three years at this point, clearly they're succeeding in this tough biz! I used to say one of the quintessential Denver experiences was having a plate of Owlbear while drinking an OMF beer ( the neighboring brewery Our Mutual Friend). I'm happy to report the Pit Fiend and OMF relationship is just as strong, and the experience still remains a very Denver thing to do. Things to note: they are using USDA prime beef brisket, heritage breed duroc pork, and make their sausages and sauces from scratch. So they're doing things the right way, not sacrificing quality, and not taking shortcuts. This is important in the BBQ world!!! Low and slowwwww, baby. We split a half pound of fatty brisket, pulled pork sandwich, mac and cheese, and a cornbread muffin situation. Food was awesome. I was going to town on the brisket. Pulled apart as it should, while still remaining intact. The mac isn't your typical mac, but boy it's rich and cheesy. You can tell they work hard for the community. Sometimes it's overwhelming inside and the staff seems a little behind, but they hustle here. Tip your pitmasters!!!

It's not close from my southeast Denver house at all but I make the trip to go here when I crave for good/quality bbq. Service is (in my frankest sense) solid and this restaurant has never failed in that regard. I always see the same lady manning the front. Her demeanor and speech are always consistent where her professionalism is her strong attribute. Quality is of utmost importance at any restaurant and this place is consistent in that regard as well. Today, I had pulled pork (about 6oz; by the way, you get to pick how much you want as you pay by the weight.) To accompany my meat, I got the Elote Salad and the Jalapeno Corn Bread. These created the perfect combination of balanced breakfast (yup, it was past 11am but it was my first meal of the day!!) It truly filled me up. The ambiance is of a typical bbq place. It's small and yet with the symbiotic relationship with the brewery right next door, the current space size justifies. The customers from said brewery come and get food as "eat-in" to take their plates back to the brewery to eat while brewing themselves up (lol!) Businesses co-exist/co-mingle/co-operate. We all help each other. I am giving my solid high five to Pit Fiend today. This place has my heart.
