True smoked meat shouldn't be wet and should taste as natural as possible outside of whatever dry rub blesses the outside. Happily come back all the time and recommend to everyone I know that enjoys BBQ that's closer to Oklahoma/Texas taste/prep. We were all staying in Denver for vacation. I had been craving a good chicken fried steak and my buddy found this place online. They review said that they had good barbecue and good chicken fried steak. We were able to sit down right away, there was plenty of seating and the atmosphere was casual but nice! I did get the chicken fried steak, but I also ordered a brisket slider because the barbecue smelled so good when we walked in the door. Our service was outstanding and came with a smile. Like some others, I'm scratching my head wondering how this place has the high rating it does. The staff was really friendly, I wish the food was as good. Got the pulled pork and brisket - the classics judged in every BBQ competition. Everything was overdone, bland, and dry. No smoke. No bark on the brisket. And the brisket was cut so thin you could fold it over four times on half a fork. The mac and cheese was mid/meh. It was all very disappointing. When you walk in, there is a place to order all of your barbecue with a nice big sign with the menu. I love any place that serves fried okra. They also have diet Dr Pepper, which is another gold star in my book. I decided to try something different and got a sloppy Joe. My friend with me got a chop brisket sandwich. I got a basket of onion rings. He got Mac and cheese for a side. We both really enjoyed the brisket. It was nice and tender, but they were both chopped brisket sandwiches the sloppy Joe's. I could've been a little more sloppy for $12 but it was very tasty. The basket of onion rings was an apple amount of onion rings I did like that the onion stayed inside the ring when you bid into it and the batter did not fall apart. They were golden crispy and beautiful. The mac & cheese was just good old-fashioned mac & cheese. We added a little barbecue sauce for a kick in. It made it just a little nicer. There are so many things that I want to try here. I will absolutely return. The decor is delightful. And the people even ask before they take your plate from the table, which is unusual in Denver. I ordered the Smoked Prime Rib open faced sandwich special because I had to. I mean - I HAD TO. The end cut (order taker's suggestion) made me smile. My favorite meat was the pulled pork. It was soft, tender, and so easy to eat. The sides tasted perfect, the Mac and cheese was cheesy and not watered down. The creamed corn was sweet and refreshing. The fried okra was perfect replacement for friend pickles. There was a line out the door when we came around noon on a Wednesday. There's plenty of seats available and they serve alcohol! Portions were very generous, moderately priced, and it's always nice to be offered a side of potato salad. Potato salad is not found as a side in many restaurants but sure goes well with barbecue meats. The restaurant is located in a warehouse District off of 1st and Santa Fe Blvd. and the buildings appear to be made of mostly sheet metal. As to service, you stand in line, order at a counter and staff brings you your food. The interior is very functional and is clean. There is lots of seating. I went here awhile ago and ordered about $45 worth of food to go. It was early evening around 4ish and they were getting busy. I got my food took it home and opened it, it was the wrong order but I was so hungry and excited I didn't care and ate it anyways. It was horribly dry. I did get a side of sauce which was just really tangy. I thought well the order was wrong so let me try again. This time I called and ordered over the phone I picked it up checked it before going home and it was the right order! I was so excited. I got home and we started eating the meat again was so dry and not much flavor besides smoke. Honestly too dry on the ends and the tops - enter the sauce. Nothing is too spicy, even the ghost pepper bottles up by the counter. Just as I had given up hope on finding good bbq in Colorado, this place came to change my mind. We tried the ribs, burnt ends, and chopped brisket with fried pickles, creamed corn, and potato salad. I have 0 complaints about any of these items other than the burnt ends being a little more fatty than I prefer. But the bbq sauce was delicious, everything was worth the wait. Great bbq. Sketchy part of town if you have your bikes with you. We were able to get a spot up front and back up, then sat by the door, so we could see our rack. They were out of brisket by the time we arrived, so I can't speak to how good that was. The serving sizes were good and while I normally don't get St Louis style ribs, they said out of the two options those were more fall off the bone. All 3 meats I had were delicious and the ribs weren't fall off the bone, they definitely were tender. My friend got the sweet potato fries and they were really good. She had the catfish sandwich and said it was good. I would recommend trying here for good bbq. read more

They unfortunately stopped making collard greens, but they started making smoked green bean the same way and they were delicious! They have a full bar and many drink options.
