My mom, my niece, and I visited Bourbon House in Oakbrook on Saturday around 6:00 PM. We completely understood that it was busy and that there would be a wait, so the wait itself was not an issue. Unfortunately, the experience from the moment we sat down until we left was extremely disappointing. First, the soda from the main machine was consistently flat. After receiving flat soda multiple times, we eventually had to ask for refills directly from the bar because that was the only way to get a drink that was actually carbonated. We ordered an appetizer, a pizza, and an Alfredo fettuccine with breadsticks and a salad with ranch. Our server was Marlo. The pizza came out a full 20 minutes before my niece's pasta. When her meal finally arrived, it was completely incorrect. Instead of what we ordered, Marlo brought chicken Alfredo fettuccine with garlic bread and a Caesar salad. My niece's entire order was wrong, and it had already taken 20 minutes longer than our food to arrive. After we pointed out the mistake, Marlo did bring out the correct pasta and breadsticks--but it took another 15 minutes. By that point, my mom and I had already finished eating. My niece was essentially left waiting for her meal while the rest of us ate. Then, when we received the check, we were charged for the chicken fettuccine Alfredo and an additional dollar for the Caesar salad, neither of which was what we ordered. Marlo did not come back to our table for quite some time, so I eventually went up to McKenzie to have the bill corrected. She fixed the charges without me explaining everything that had happened, which I admittedly should have done. What was most disappointing was that, despite the incorrect order, the significant delay, the repeated drink issues, and the fact that my niece didn't receive her correct meal until my mom and I were already finished eating, there was absolutely no attempt to acknowledge or compensate us for the experience. Instead, the only explanation we received from Marlo was that "everyone is new." While I understand that people can be new and mistakes happen, that doesn't excuse the overall lack of communication or the way the situation was handled. We left feeling both rushed and ignored, and the experience was unnecessarily frustrating. Mistakes happen in restaurants, especially when it's busy, but what matters is how those mistakes are handled. Unfortunately, we did not feel that ours was handled well at all. For the price and overall experience, I expected much better and left extremely dissatisfied. read more

This place doesn't disappoint. Deep dish pizza is my dad's favorite and this place meets his and my expectations every single. The staff was nice and the decor is your typical dive bar or pizza place. The deep dish pizza took about 35 minutes but we were told ahead of time that that would be the case. Can't speak to the ambiance/experience of the restaurant itself, as we did a takeout order with them, but I CAN speak to the quality of the food, which was excellent! Originally from NJ but now a NKY resident, I always complain about the lacking quality of pizza out here in the area. There are some standouts, such as Jet's (which I love!) but on the whole I've kinda been let down by pizza. Until now. Bourbon House was arguably the best pizza I've had out in NKY to this point - just well executed throughout and a delicious end result. We got the Chicken Parm pizza (awesome) and a custom pepperoni one as well (and the person on the phone when we ordered made some suggestions to help us save a couple of dollars, which is always much appreciated these days!). We also ordered the pizza meatballs, which were maybe the best part of the meal - I would order a couple of these for a main entrée, they were so good! 4 out of 5 stars because I can't speak to the restaurant itself, but 100% will be back to Bourbon House. read more

We were lured by the promise of good deep dish pizza. The Yelp pictures made it look like some of the really good deep dish pizza we had in Chicago and the burbs. Turns out the owner has Chicago roots and nailed deep dish pizza. We were seated very quickly in the eatery. It isn't a very big place, so I was happy that we had no wait. However, it was freezing inside of the place. I know it wasn't just me as I saw another lady go get a sweatshirt for her son. The staff were likely hot, as they were walking around in shorts, but for the patrons, it was a bit too cold. We started with a couple of house salads, which had fresh greens, pepperoni and cheddar cheese. I subbed out pepperoni for bacon and they happy obliged with no upcharge. Iwent with their yummy, house-made ranch. It was good. I see why they sell it by the jar. Hubby went with honey-mustard. We also had cherry Pepsi and it was good cherry flavor, no watery pop here. The pizza was the star of the show. We did a medium, deep dish with ricotta, ham, bacon and pineapple. The pizza was thick with crust that was crispy on the tops and bottom, but chewy where it needed to be. It was covered in a zesty sauce and a thick layer of gooey cheese. The ricotta gave a sweetness to the pizza and our choice of toppings, the salty bacon and ham paired with the sweetness of the pineapple complimented that ricotta perfectly. It was a unique combination we have never had before and it was absolutely divine. We were only able to eat about 3 slices and the leftover heated up very nicely in the oven. Total bill was less than $50 and worth it. It was reasonably priced and we're so happy to find good deep dish pizza in KY. read more

I am writing to talk about the experience we had at the Florence location this evening. My family consisting of myself, my wife and our 2 kids came in town from 3 hours away to visit my sister and her family. She bragged about your restaurant and that's where we chose to go. Upon walking in we were seated rather quickly because the establishment was not busy at all. our drink order was taken as well as food order. We ordered appetizers before our main course. 1 hour later, we are being told our food was just put in the oven. We finally get our food after an hour and 10 minute wait. After we eat the bill was brought to us and was messed up 3 times. We are pushing 2 hours of being inside the restaurant at this point and we'. We explained to our waitress that we were highly disappointed and the shift manager told us she was sorry for the experience and didn't try to make it right by any means at all. The gratuity between both checks was $40. $40 tip for an hour and a half of waiting for food and being told "sorry". I've never had this experience anywhere before. read more

We finally got the chance to dine in. The first time we went was during covid, so we only picked up our meal. I got the build your own calzone and added mushroom,spinach, and Applewood bacon. Sauce on side instead of inside. It was awesome. My husband ordered the Hawaiian pizza, and it had ham,pineapple, and bacon on it. Both were absolutely awesome. The staff was awesome. Service definitely on point! Great job and hats off to them all! I'm definitely happy we were able to dine in and take in the whole place. Loved the great decorations on the walls as well . First time as we are new to Kentucky from Buffalo NY. Big shoes to fill for pizza and wings but we were pleasantly surprised!!! Bourbon BBQ flavor on the wings was amazing I'd prob just cook wings a little more because they were big size wings- which is great!!! We got thin crust meat lovers pizza which was great as well. The outside crust was perfect but we ordered an XL size so the middle crust was too floppy maybe just needed to be cooked a little more. I'd ask for well done next time. Got side Caesar salad- wayyyy too much dressing I'll definitely have to ask for it on the side next time. Overall great experience. Loved the small quaint atmosphere. We will be back!! Lovely vibes in this restaurant. We were seated and well attended to. Nice atmosphere, even on a Sunday Bengals home game. We just moved to Cincinnati and came here to celebrate our son's birthday. We ordered the fried pickles, which were perfectly fried and full of flavor. We chose a huge Mac and cheese pizza to share. OMG, absolutely delicious. We'd tried to dine here on a Saturday a few months ago - big mistake on our part, the wait was 90+ minutes. so when were craving pizza on a weekday, we thought we'd see if we could finally sneak in for a table. Sure enough, even at 5:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, this restaurant is poppin'! The parking lot was almost completely full - but somehow we managed to snag one of their last few free tables with no wait. Having eaten Chicago-style pizza before, we were well aware that we'd be sitting there awhile waiting for our pie to bake. We ordered a Tossed Salad and some Garlic Knots while we waited. The salad was lacking, even for a simple house salad, but their homemade ranch was amazing. They sell it by the jar, and I would honestly come pick some up the next time I'm entertaining family. The garlic knots were delicious ... perfectly baked, and served with dipping cups of both butter and marinara. Insider tip - dunk your knot into the butter first, then the marinara. Trust me!! Our deep dish took about 30 minutes to make it to our table - but the wait didn't seem so bad because we'd filled up on appetizers. The restaurant itself is a comforting, neighborhood Italian joint. Everyone working there seems like they're related, and the service is so good, they make their guests feel like family. We ordered a 12" Deep Dish Supreme with added Basil, Black Olives and Sliced Meatballs. When this masterpiece of a pie arrives at your table, you can't help but stare. These pizzas are truly a work of art. We dove in, only to admit defeat after one slice apiece. The sauce was flavorful and sweet - and the addition of ricotta and the meatballs gave the pizza almost a lasagna-like feel. One word about the olives - make sure they're absolutely what you want. I love olives, but my fiancé doesn't (the Olive Theory! iykyk). He indulged me and ordered them, thinking there would just be a few here and there. That was not the case ... the olives were literally an entire layer just above the crust. I was pleased, but he was disappointed. We brought the rest of the pizza home - which made for an excellent breakfast this morning. Next time, I think we would order takeout, just because of how popular this spot is on the weekends! This is a local family restaurant and I picked it because I had been looking for a place that served good Chicago style pizza. The food was good! The fried pickles and salads and breadsticks were awesome (we had the garlic and cinnamon style). The pasta was yummy as well. We got a deep dish to share and it was huge and full of toppings. I think the sauce wasn't quite accurate to Chicago style but it was good. The servers were friendly but maybe not super organized. That can happen a lot with family run restaurants. Sat very quickly even on a busy Friday night. Decent selection of domestic and a few other bottle beers. Service is great- very friendly and extremely perceptive to needing drinks, cleaning plates. Some of the best service I've had anywhere. Everyone chipped in- many employees passing by just spoke up and asked if we needed refills or plates taken away. Had the Loaded crinkle cut fries (bacon on the side) and they were probably the best cheese fries I've had. They're put into a ceramic bowl and 2 or 3 cheeses are put on top and they're put under a broiler. The cheese is gooey and crispy. Server with homemade ranch that is wow - really really good. 2 large pizzas (we got the bourbon house pizza with ricotta, black olives, banana peppers, and green peppers. Thin crust. The kids got a pepperoni pizza - half with green peppers and half with bacon and meatballs. The meatballs in particular were complemented several times. The only reason why any food was left was because we were so full. The crust was chewy and crispy and the toppings were fresh and there were plenty of them. I'm just blown away and will recommend this place to anyone coming to Florence/covington/Cincinnati. read more
