What a gem! Enjoying brunch here was the perfect way to spend a Sunday in Hattiesburg. Their cozy dining room is elegant and classy, but with a causal flare to it which makes it comfortable for anyone and any occasion! Our server was great - so personable and friendly - and speedy! Our drinks came out quickly and were soooo good! My boyfriend had the breakfast old fashioned adorned with a crispy slice of bacon! And I had the pineapple jalapeño mimosa (fyi, they even have mimosa flights!) The food was out of this world - I'm not kidding. I barely finish my plate anywhere, but their Downtowner Steak Caesar Salad made the clean-plate-club. It's served with two toasted crostinis which were seasoned well and perfectly crispy. My boyfriend had the grits & grillades - Came out looking so good I had to steal a bite. It was divine! Because everything we tasted had been so delicious, we then had to try dessert so we got the crème brûlée. It was my first time trying it, but I swear I felt like my soul had left my body lol. It was crispy on top, perfectly sweetened and balanced and topped with a dollop of whipped cream and strawberries. Amazing! Bourbon on Front didn't just take my money -- it took my heart and politely handed me a fork. First off, Mallory deserves a promotion, a raise, or possibly a holiday named after her. She was friendly, sharp, and knew the menu and the bourbon list like a sommelier who also grew up at in her parent's restaurant/bar. Let's talk about the $34 steak night deal -- I came in expecting "good for the price." What I got was "I'm suspicious this kitchen loves me personally." My steak was cooked absolutely perfectly and seasoned so well I considered hugging the chef. The Caesar salad was crisp and classic, the kind that makes you feel like you're being healthy right before you absolutely abandon that plan. Let's talk about the MVP now -- the sweet potato mash with candied pecans. I would like to publicly apologize to my steak because it was no longer the star of the plate. I would order a full bowl of the sweet potato mash if I could. The Bourbon of the Month (Barrell Dovetail) paired ridiculously well. Smooth, rich, and dangerous -- the kind of pour that convinces you that you've made excellent life decisions. I finished with the king cake bread pudding which was the perfect mic drop to the meal especially on Fat Tuesday. This is hands down the best steakhouse I've found in the city. I don't give a 5 star review to any restaurant that doesn't deserve it. I have been going here since they opened. I had the best meal that I have had in Hattiesburg this past Friday night. Everyone at the table felt like they had the same experience. The service was top notch. Very friendly and attentive. We had a few cocktails that were delicious. The spinach dip was very creamy. Our salads were perfect. The filet was cooked perfectly medium rare and served with a side of grilled onions and topped with blue cheese. The baked potato was massive. We also had the special which was a grilled red snapper filet served on top of garlic mashed potatoes and topped with lump crab meat and two gulf shrimp. Amazing. Thank you to the staff and the manager. It's hard to find a total dining experience that checks all the boxes. This meal reset the bar for me at BOF. read more

My wife and I were able to get away for a Tuesday date night last week and got to experience this place for the first time. They had a ribeye dinner special that came with a loaded baked potato and side salad. It was all great, including the service. Also tried the bourbon shrimp appetizer that was very good, and our meal included some rolls with honey butter. We had a great time and will definitely be back. Downtown Hattiesburg has really come a long way when it comes to its restaurant scene. Unfortunately, this place isn't rated as highly as it should be on social media and here on Yelp because a handful of people have given a bad review due to factors *outside* of the actual food and dining experience. This establishment the service, the food, the drinks, and the atmosphere was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The greeter at the door was welcoming, professional and friendly. The vibe was very inviting. We had an extra guest added to our reservation and the accommodation was made seamlessly with no issue. Our server was attentive and engaging. She was awesome. The food was cook to perfection. EVERYTHING from the appetizer to the desserts. The drinks were soo good and NOT watered down. The prices are reasonable, the quality and quantity of the food is definitely worth every penny. Arrived around 2pm on Saturday and was shown the rooftop bar. It was a cozy and friendly area with plenty of room and tables for patrons. We had an amazing lunch today after trying Blu Jazz Cafe yesterday, realized while there it's the same family that owns both places. The Food was amazing, we ordered the hamburger and fries and the stuffed French toast! Both dishes were absolutely delicious! I requested mustard for the burger and the gentleman comes back and informs me that they don't stock mustard I say ok no worries. He comes back for refills before our food has come out an asked if there was anything else he can get us at the moment and I jokingly said I'll take som grey pu pon we both laughed and he said he was going to tell the chef as he would get a good laugh as well! I could hear him telling him in the kitchen and the chef busted out laughing we heard it all the way in the front! While waiting for the food, mind you it wasn't long at all the owner comes out and speaks to us for a few minutes and we told him our experience from the prior day at Blu Jazz Cafe. The food comes to the table and I see mustard in a cup. I asked were u just messing with me about the mustard he said nope the owner ran around the corner and got some mustard for you! I don't know if many restaurants go out of their way to make the customers have a great experience but that was just amazing to me that he went and did that! Bourbon on front has a sheen of a nice restaurant but in reality it's ok. Service was under par as well our waitress didn't even tell us the special we heard it from another table. The appetizer was good we got the tuna but the entrees were very underwhelming. I got the ribeye and my fiancé got the strip both were cooked to the correct temp but they were lacking in seasoning and had no crust on the outside and the side of "creamed" spinach was basically sautéed spinach with butter. We were also left with dirty plates over the course of dinner, our server was very slow to move the plates but quick to bring the check. Overall bourbon on front wants to be a nice restaurant but shows no true signs of actually being one. Flip side the bar upstairs is very nice for cocktails and appetizers, I would go back for that but I am not eating dinner there again. read more

We got to the restaurant around 6:15. We were told it would be a 30 min wait. We were fine with that. There was a group of 6 already waiting. After 25 mins, the group was still waiting so we went upstairs to the bar. It took about 10 mins before we were able to place an order for steak fries, a beer, and a glass of water. Our drinks were brought out quickly, but we never received our appetizer. We had tickets for a show at 8:00 and left at 7:45. We were warned that the service was slow, but thought we had plenty of time. We won't make that mistake again! read more

We had a small birthday dinner at this restaurant this past weekend. We had made a reservation a week or two prior. We were seated at the appropriate time. But while walking to the table, with a prior purchased birthday cake, we were told that there was a $25 service charge for outside desserts brought into the restaurant. I was kinda shocked at that as I have never been to a restaurant in the Hattiesburg area that has that policy for brought in desserts. They also do not include a birthday dessert for the guest. I made a reservation for three, showed up and they were expecting us! I love the location and the atmosphere! We celebrated a cousin's birthday, the cousin that is hard to please. They had a private event and I felt like they were not able to have an open restaurant and group event at the same time and handle it well. Interesting take on "fine dining". We made a reservation for a birthday which included a $50 reservation fee to hold the table. Contacted the manager and was told this fee would be deducted from our final bill so this was not an issue. Arrived a few minutes early and the hostess seemed confused and was unaware of our party's reservation. She prepared the table, told us it was ready and then headed to the kitchen and told us our table was "over there". Service by the kitchen was slow despite the dining room being maybe 1/3 full. Drinks were made but were ambiguous, we couldn't tell the difference between the Blueberry Honeysuckle Lemondrop and the Cherry Blossom. Steaks were ordered all around but the timing was off, salads took nearly 30 minutes and then steaks were out less than 10 minutes later only to be served cold. Potato was nice despite being nearly inedible it was so hot. Seasoning on steaks were on point so that was a positive. When we received our bill we noticed that the reservation fee was not removed. We asked our server about this but she claimed to not know anything about it. Manager came out for a visit and told us the fee was *not* refunded. Manager also indicated that it was not possible that we were misinformed because "everybody's trained better than that". Rather off putting by the manager, we did not complain simply inquire. Thought it would be a nice touch for them to comp the dessert or something as a gesture but it was a very matter of factly handled situation. Great potential but management needs to get it together. TLDR - paid an extra $50 to eat decent food with mediocre service. read more

I had the most wonderful dinner last night at Bourbon on Front. I started with the blueberry lemon drop martini, which was refreshing and delicious and made with fresh ingredients. For the appetizers, we had the most perfectly seasoned & seared tuna, spinach, and artichoke dip and charcuterie board. All were fabulous! For dinner, I got the blackened redfish special served over the creamiest grits I've ever had, and with a side of fresh asparagus, cooked to perfection. The fish was very well seasoned and it had a light lemon sauce that perfectly complemented it. For dessert, I got a brandy Alexander cocktail, which was on amazing! They also have a wonderful, varied wine and bourbon list. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere is cozy and intimate. I'm looking forward to my next visit. read more
