I visited this morning for a pop-up barre class. The private space upstairs is fantastic and rentable for events. The Rick Room had plenty of space for all of us attending to spread out on mats and complete a challenging workout. It was a beautiful space with brick walls, hardwood floors, and windows. I could see it being a fantastic space for some fancier events too. Off of the main room was a lounge area with huge couches. It was nice chatting with a few other attendees here after the workout. After class, we had a couple of cocktail options (option for N/A too) and light bites. Light bites were tasty! I tried the champagne cocktail, ooooh it was strong, but really tasty. It would be a perfect drink at dinner time! The owner and bartender were both really kind. This was a fantastic pop-up event and a great glimpse at Bourbons Bistro. We were thankful to score a last minute reservation for a table of 8 on this busy Kentucky Derby weekend. We were seated immediately on their enclosed back porch with a beautiful roaring fire in their corner fireplace. Lovely! Our server was efficient, drinks and complimentary bread and butter were served quickly. Their small, one basket serving of bread and dabby do of butter was not enough for our table, but they honored our request for more. My Caesar Salad was crispy fresh and hit the spot. I ordered the appetizer Spicy Fried Oysters served over grits as my entree. The 6-7 oysters were fried perfectly crispy, not too spicy, and the creamy parmesan grits were a nice accompaniment. I didn't realize that it would be that busy on Dec 5th for the Repeal Day. It is good thing that my friend and I made the reservation. We enjoyed the old fashioned with old Forester in it. We decided to order appetizer which is Garlic and Goat Cheese with bread. It was so delicious. I had brown butter pasta with additional of Cajun sausage. It was so good and it was all fresh. I enjoyed it a lot. My friend had Burger and my friend did enjoy it a lot. We both agreed that the fries were so good too. We both had great time. read more

I had always wanted to try Bourbons Bistro, and after having a date night with Cooking at Millie's where we were cooked with Chef Jason and the Bourbon's Chop which is 12 oz French bone-in pork chop wrapped in proscuitto topped with Asadero cheese and a bourbon veal demi glace, and Yukon mashed potatoes. The restaurant serves it with garlic haricot verts but I do not recall making those, however I wish we would have bc they are my favorite! After this I really couldn't wait to see what else they offered. Their menu rotates seasonly so some of these items are not currently available since we were there in the summer however from looking through their instagram I really hope they will be back!! We stoped in on a random Saturday night and was surprised to be able to grab two seats at the bar however there is always so much going on in Louisville in the summer. The bartender was rather busy but he was very friendly and personable throughout our entire experience. We ordered a couple drinks and the Feta and Hot Honey starter. It came with a generous portion of Feta, drizzled with Hot Honey, fresh sliced Jalapeño, prosciutto, and I believe macadamia nuts (not 100% sure) .... SO GOOD!!! My husband ordered the Cheese Tortellini which is fresh pasta, filled with a blend of Wisconsin cheese and herbs, tossed in a mushroom and spinach cream sauce that is finished with pine nuts and basil pesto. He really enjoyed it as I was only able to grab a few bites. It was rich, creamy and delicious. I ordered the Chilean Salmon over broccolini which was topped with cucumber and onion and drizzled with a vinaigrette I believe and this was hands down the best salmon I've ever had. I am extremely picky when it comes to seafood so I do not say that lightly. I also ordered a side of mashed potatoes which I really didn't need and honestly didn't eat much of bc my Salmon was so good. We were too stuffed for dessert but have heard they are pretty famous for their Bourbon's Bread Pudding which is custard soaked bread, bourbon caramel, dried dark cherries soaked in bourbon syrup so I will definitely be trying that next time! read more

Another favorite place to go with consistently great food. Yes, they take reservations! Always love that on a busy night! Interior is warm and inviting. Not too loud and lights down low enough. Service is charming. You must get the spicy fried oysters with grits to start! The oysters and delish and grits are spot on. Great combination. My go to meal here is the steak frites. The steak is perfect and frites tender and crispy. I saved room for desert and dang, was it the best. Bread pudding with hands down, best caramel sauce ever. You must save room for this! This hidden gem is absolutely phenomenal and worth talking about and they have won an array of accolades for their Bourbon Bistro. The bistro has a great ambiance, and excellent hospitality. The staff and bartenders are knowledgeable of the menu offerings and offer great recommendations. You will not be disappointed it's a chef-currated dinning experience! They also have a robust Bourbon, Wine, and cocktails lists. The venue offers street parking and has a very small parking lot accessible; however, keep in mind the street parking can be little tricky; therefore, plan accordingly. I really enjoyed Bourbons Bistro. Located in the charming Clifton neighborhood, it was nice to get out of Downtown and East Market. The restaurant is elegant and service was attentive and friendly. My drinks were excellent and strong. The bread and bruschetta were just OK, so I'd skip those. But my entree, the pork chop, was quite flavorful, as were the green beans and potatoes. And huge--I definitely couldn't finish it. I was too full for dessert, so opted for the Bourbon Ball after dinner drink instead. I could taste the hazelnut, which I loved. I've been here three times. The first two times were good, but it seemed each visit dropped in quality of food and service. Our first time we had the burger with Swiss and mushrooms, it was fantastic. The second time we went we were served bread and butter, which surprised me because we didn't get that the first time. I ordered the steak frites, and it was okay, but kind of plain. My friend got the burger again and it was just as good as the first time. However, at one point one of the cooks was shouting and cursing at one of the front of house staff. That left a bad vibe. On the third visit we ordered the whipped feta with hot honey appetizer. It was amazing, but they changed the burger and it lacked the same impact. My friend's burger was way undercooked, almost raw and she ordered it medium well. The server was inattentive and a little curt. Overall I'm not interested in returning due to the inconsistency in quality, taste, and service. I'd give probably a 3.5. My husband and I went for Valentines this year and we both liked our food okay. I got the pork chop, which somehow tastes exactly like breakfast sausage, but the green beans were delicious. My husband got the steak frites and enjoyed it. I was not a super fan of the atmosphere though, we were sat in the middle, right on top of other people, and since the building is narrow there's nothing at all to look at except wall when seated that way. Also thought it was pretty ridiculous they were selling Ste. Michelle Riesling for $52 a bottle.. when everyone knows that stuff is 9 bucks. Crazy. Overall service was decent and food was decent, but wouldn't go out of our way to return for the price. read more

This was our first stop when we arrived late to Louisville. While their kitchen was closed we had the best time tasting bourbons with the guidance of their young bartender. He educated us on bourbon and made excellent recommendations! We had so much fun. Also recommended a late night fourth meal location that we walked too later. We had tried to get in a couple times before without reservations and no luck so this time we planned ahead. Started with a Manhattan Champagne Cocktail. It was good and different but I think I'll try something different next time. I had the Filet of Beef which was really tasty. Pricey but to be expected. My husband had the shrimp and grits. I was in town recently on a work trip and was brought here by our host. I had a "nojito", poke nachos, and the cheeseburger with the egg and bourbon bacon and that stuff... so sorry I forgot what it was called. But I did not forget the burger! Best burger I've had all year and in the top 10 of burgers I've had in my life. It's a shame I couldn't finish this giant thing. The nojito was perfect and the poke nachos were pretty darn good too. I'm kind of sad that I might not ever get the chance to stop by again. But who knows? If work ever sends be back to the Louisville area, I'll 100% be back. read more

I travel to Louisville regularly for work and I make it a point to dine at different restaurants and provide an honest feedback. I was really torn about my rating to tonight. On one hand the food was really good. I had: Salmon cakes Mushroom pasta with andouille sausage. The salmon cakes were a tad bready for me but still good and came out hot and fresh. Same with the the pasta. It was still steaming when I got my dish. And the pasta was excellent! The mushrooms and sausage were perfect. I liked it having some pesto and pine nuts in the creamy sauce. The bad thing was the service. When I arrived, there was no hostess at the station. The bartender finally acknowledged me after a few minutes (and I say 3-5 minutes). He didn't really know the reservation system and I told him it didn't matter where I sat as long as it wasn't outside (too cold for me). He sat me at the high bar table right next to the hostess station. He brought me a menu and water right away. So I though things would be okay. But I waited another 5 minutes. The bartender acknowledged me but he was servicing drinks to the patrons at the bar. Finally the hostess came to the podium and I had to ask her to order. Food came out so quick and hot and delicious that I thought they redeemed themselves and I wouldn't be needing to give them this lower rating. But after dinner was done, that was it. No sign of anyone AGAIN. I had to ask for a box and check. I know I must look like a visitor and not a local, but it seemed rude to ignore me just the same. I just didn't have a good feel so I'm sad to not come back and try their other dishes. read more

Our first visit to Bourbon's Bistro did not disappoint. Cozy dining area filled with bourbon inspired decor. Cocktails were good - we ordered an OF, Gold Rush and a Bourbon Lily. The Caesar salad was really good and topped with bacon. Entrees and sides were delish - I tried the filet and pork chop and recommend them. Fingerling potatoes = so yummy! I'm a few days late posting this review but I couldn't let this one slip by. We made reservations for 5 last weekend. My daughter had been before and loved it, wanted us to try it out. We were promptly seated. Service was a little slow after that but we didn't mind with good company. We had the bone marrow, fried oysters and garlic and goat cheese spread appetizers. I would recommend all of them. Each one very flavorful. I'd have a hard time choosing just one. Everyone loved their main dishes as well. It's wild caught Chesapeake Bay oysters, breaded, on creamy Wiesenberger parmesan grits. I couldn't get enough. For the entree I had the steak and frites. The generous 12 oz NY strip is large enough to share. The entree is served with copious amounts of fries and seasoned to perfection. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Iv been a few times over the years and I have to say it's a great little date spot especially on the patio next to the fireplace on a nice evening. We sat near the fireplace and had a nice glass of wine and started with a spectacular appetizer of Prince Edward Island mussels which were extraordinarily plump and a must try. My date had the Steak Frites which was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. I had the Chilean Salmon also cooked perfectly all in all the perfect night and great service. Bourbons Bistro is one of those places my wife and I have been wanting to try, So on one Saturday night, we decided to make it happen... First, make a reservation, or get there early enough to get a bar seat. I tried to make a reservation several days in advance but no tables were available. So we decided to risk it and head down early Saturday evening ...not much of a risk really, if we were not able to eat there, we know of multiple good places around the area... So, we got here around 5:30, luckily found a parking space near the restaurant and walked in... No one was in the restaurant, so we asked the host about a table, she was very polite when she told us all the tables were reserved, starting a 6... No worries, we will just sit at the bar.... I am glad we did. Our bartender, Vin, was great and helped us select various bourbons throughout the night. So after a few rounds, we ordered appetizers... We started off with the Charcuterie Board, and man was it good... The menu description did not mention a blueberry cheese that was served on the board... All I can say about it was the Blueberry cheese was worth the trip by its self... I have never had anything like that before, but I am looking forward to ordering it again... We then ordered the Garlic and Goat Cheese Spread and a side of parmesan grits... Both most excellent. My wife finished off our evening with an egg nog... I got to taste it (as with most nights I am driving and have to severally limit my adult beverage intake) and like everything else we had was fantastic. I can not think of anything that was missing (Oh and by the way, the restaurant was full at 6, as well as the bar) as far as service and food... I am not really sure if I will even bother with reservations next time. The service we received from Vin was outstanding and makes us want to sit at the bar every time. We had a large group, and the waitress took great care of us all night with spectacular service. I opted for the burger, and it was delicious.
