Visiting Louisville for a weekend of shopping and antique hunting, we found 610 Magnolia stood out online. Afterwards we asked people where the best place to eat in Louisville is. All responded: 610 Magnolia! Expectations were high and exceeded. The multi course tasting menu was fabulous! While some was experimental for us, we happily finished everything. We loved the ambiance, service, food and variety of menu. It wasn't cheap but excellent value for money. I'll be back try another menu!

The food is incredibly innovative and full of flavors. It's worth the experience occasionally. Service was phenomenal, just what I expected of a high end restaurant. But, just like someone else mentioned, I really hated the wait between each dish. I just cannot justify 2+ hours for a meal of 5 dishes (this includes the dessert). I'm too impatient, it'll be awhile before I'm up for that again.

Unfortunately, this was a 2-3 star experience for a special anniversary dinner. The total cost of the meal with the wine pairing was $485 for two people. The food was very good, and there were six courses. However, the service during and between courses was either rushed or nonexistent. At one point, we had six glasses on our table (two water and four wine), and it took about 20 minutes for the servers to clear them. We are fans of Chef Edward Lee from his appearance on the Black Spoon vs. White Spoon Netflix series, so we were excited to make the trip to 610. Based on that, I have to say this really let me down, and it cost far more than it should have given the level of service.

Between 3 and 4 stars - let's say closer to 4! Was good but not mind blowing. Some dishes like the gochujang soft shell crab felt like budget asian fusion (still good!) but not fitting the price. Favorite dish was surprisingly the Thai cod curry - it was delicious without being too salty, and the right amount of crunch with the coconut bits. Ambience felt cozy - but interior could do with a little polish. Came here cuz of culinary class wars :)

Made the trip to Louisville from SF just for this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Exactly what you'd expect if you're familiar with Chef Edward Lee's approach and culinary skill. The coursed menu was outstanding with Korean-infused flavors woven throughout -- the gochujang butter was unforgettable. The wine pairing was a perfect complement. We were lucky that Chef Lee was in and had the chance to meet him. Our server was so kind, the pacing of the meal felt just right, and the ambiance was low-key modern in a way that made the whole evening feel special.

Wonderful restaurant with amazing service! The food was good and an overall great experience. We were celebrating an anniversary and were welcomed with a glass of champagne. They were easily able to adjust for a dairy allergy. Cocktails and the wine pairing were great. Such a quiet, lovely restaurant in the Old Louisville neighborhood. Would recommend.

First - Chef Lee is an amazing artist (and he's nice ). We met him at a book signing prior to going here, and we promptly made reservations. We loved the space and the atmosphere. The tasting menu was fantastic - especially the pasta course! The menu changes based on seasonality, which is fantastic.

What an incredible experience. When you arrive, 610 magnolia looks like a house but appearances are deceiving. You walk in to a beautiful dining room where for ONCE, the tables are actually not squished next to each other. We were greeted by our waitress Paula who was awesome. I've attached the menu below but each course was incredible. You pick one item from each course but I went with my husband so we tried one of each. The lamb carpaccio was perfectly smoked. The gnocchi came with house made sourdough bread and sorghum butter that I could've eaten for days. The bass and shrimp were excellent. The entrees blew us away. The quail was cooked to perfection. The pork was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside with the most stunning kimchi I have ever eaten. Dessert was no exception. The matcha panna cotta jiggled like it needed to and the drunken banana cake was phenomenal. Drinks were super as well. I will be back and can't wait to see what this ever changing seasonal menu brings next.

We went for dinner this past week for my 40th birthday. I was expecting a good meal but I wasn't expecting it to be as amazing as it was. The service was amazing. The complementary champagne when we sat down was an amazing touch. The food was amazing. Every single bite. The stars of the show for me were the soft shell crab, the pasta dish and the bourbon dessert. They were heavenly. You can taste how fresh everything is and everything was so creative. If you like a tasting menu, this is definitely a must try restaurant. We can't wait to go back!

Service and ambiance was great, 5/5 Food was a-little salty in general. For a fine dining experience... i would say if you are a wine drinker and want a quite small place to eat and talk. It's a great place. Otherwise, over priced for the quality of food i received.

This place is amazing. The food was very delicious and the flavors had a lot of depth. Each course the was served was complimented with a wine that matched it perfectly. Some of the best wines I have had. The servers were all very knowledgeable about each course that was served and I learned a lot about the origin and history. The restaurant itself was very cozy and intimate, not too loud but not too quiet. This was definitely worth the 2 1/2 hour drive. We will be back!

Dining at 610 Magnolia was an excellent, personalized experience. We chose to have the 5 course tasting menu plus wine pairings, and we couldn't have been happier : every dish and every drink pairing was unique, inventive, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was friendly, attentive, and never overly stuffy -- the servers and manager were kind and went out of their way to answer questions, recognize our special occasion (a birthday -- they gave us a welcome glass of celebratory champagne and a signed copy of the menu!), and generally go above and beyond (like bringing us more of the bread service when they noticed how much we liked it). The space is comforting, cozy, yet elegant, with a great history (like original carriage house floors). We left so happy (and not hungry), and we'd love to return in the future.

An experience that lays not just with the food, but the staff. We had to switch our birthday reservation last minute due to driving our sweet cat Luna to the animal hospital. I felt horrible. Manager Anna was not a teensy bit worried about our cancelation, but exceptionally worried about our cat. She went on to ask Luna's name and other questions. Experiencing this human kindness meant the world - especially in that moment. Anna moved our reservation to the next day and made sure we were exceptionally cared for! She paired Neve to be our server (also a cat lover). I was surprised when he asked about Luna! We went on to swap cat photos and names. It was basic human connection - that I feel is often lost in society and certainly in dining experiences. Not at 610. Expect staff to care about you. Due to the cost and the desire to tip 30%+, a meal like 610 happens once a year for us. However, after this experience, we will go to less date nights - just to experience 610 more. This is because of the kind gestures Anna and Neve provided for us during a time of great sorrow. Our sweet cat may have died, but our latest experience at 610 will last forever! Oh, and the food... when coming to view reviews of 610, we are all saying the same dang thang. Order the 5 or 7 course meal. Go with the wine pairing. Arrive hungry, and you won't go wrong. The menu continuously provides innovative flavors curated with passion. A quintessential Louisville favorite. A must. Please, book your reservation now!

Ask the Community - 610 Magnolia

Impossible to write more than a few words, is that Michelin service?

Not at all, not even close. From Dining at 2 different rated restaurants (NYC), this is a joke in comparison. You have to realize though a place like that wouldn't work with the culture and people of Louisville, the entire state has one zoo. Fancy…

How much time should we allot to a reservation?

1.5 - 2 hours for a full multi-course meal. The waitstaff is wonderful and you should enjoy the full non-rushed experience.

What's the dress code there? Would jeans, a nice shirt and dress shoes be ok?

    yes....

Has anyone else had trouble making reservations? I called at open time of business and left message and phone number when no answer and subsequently wrote an email and have not heard back in 3 days. the reservation was 10 days

Have heard about this gem for 20 years but never tried it until last night. Wife and I sat at the…read morebar - love the atmosphere: spacious dive bar with low ceilings and wood paneling. There are also picnic tables out front. You get a faint whiff of the grill/smoker upon entering. Kylie was our bartender and she was fabulous - knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all of our questions with patience. Wife ordered a mango margarita and doesn't like a lot of tequila, so Kylie went half and gave her a shot on the side in case she wanted to add more. It was wonderful. I had a couple of beers. We started with the fried mushrooms, which aren't what you would expect. It's two large portobellos cut into chunks, battered, fried, and served with sun-dried tomato mayo. They were great. I then ordered a duck taco, brisket taco, and a side of Grippo Fries with smoked mayo. I'd never tried duck but that taco was smack-a-lackin'. The brisket taco was also good, and the fries were fantastic - sweet and spicy, fresh cut, and crispy. Wife ordered a pork belly slider and truffle fries. She enjoyed the slider but didn't care for the fries - just not her thing. The portions here are large. A side of fries will feed three people. We took a hefty portion of them home, as well as some of the mushrooms. We could've sat there at the bar and spent 3 hours socializing and enjoying a smattering of cocktails - love the setting. Look forward to going back and trying one of the burgers at some point.

Well I'd classify this place as a dive bar in the sense of the word. It's definitely not 4 star…read morenoted and maybe not the best exclusive signage and overall 4 star appeal; but it a diamond in the rough, persa. This place is quaint, nice location (on a corner ) decent seating, not a big outdoor dining area, the bar is long and has the memories of the old day saloon. Now the food; terribly good! Menu isn't extensive but good items and variety that will satisfy anyone's appetite. It was Father's Day but as soon as it opened they were quickly filled with patrons and people kept coming; even waiting to get in. The fries in duck fat were awesome. Since so many baskets of fries like this for a long time. The smoked wings are great, meaty and savory. I had the pork belly tacos; my only disappointment was you only get 2 per order. The fine combination of ingredients were splendid and the pork belly so tender. My wife had the bbq pork sandwich on pretzel bun. Very good tasting and this was with no bbq sauce on it. If you're in the area, do yourself a a favor and stop in. I can't wait to go back ( as we live in southern Indiana) so might be a bit but definitely want to try a few other items.
