Bowers garage gives unbelievable and honest service. My daughter goes to UW River Falls and we are from the Milwaukee area . She has had several car issues. We discovered Bowens garage and they have been unbelievable service. They have been understanding that we are not from the area and very kind to my daughter. Repairs have always been done in a very timely manner. One particular time I was quoted a price and when I called to pay, Mike informed me it was less. I dropped my car off at bowens auto on a Friday morning, they said they would get it done Friday because they didnt have a lot to do that day. I waited for a call but never got one so I rode my bike to work at night in the snow. After graveyard shift I rode by bowens and didn't see my car in the parking lot. I looking in the garage and didn't see it in there either. I had an apple air tag in the car and tracked it. I know apple air tags are very accurate to the foot. I was standing in the parking lot and my phone said my car was right where I was standing but it wasn't. I called them when they opened on Saturday and they said they couldn't reach me because they didn't have my phone number! Even though I had recently talk to them on the phone. When I went to pick it up, my car had an extra 39 miles on the odometer. I know for a fact that it doesn't take 39 miles to road test the alignment. I'm thinking someone took my car home for the night or something. Am I over reacting? Is there a more reasonable explanation? read more

I have been taking my car to this mechanic since 2004/2005... Mike Bowen is wonderful and I've never had anything short of a stellar experience. I feel like Mike and his staff are very conservative in their recommendations for work that needs to be done and if they recommend something, I trust them wholeheartedly. I have sent family and friends to this mechanic and would absolutely do so in the future... I feel like Mike and his staff are among the few left in the business who work diligently to provide honest quality service. I will never take my car here again. I recently purchased a used car and brought it to Bowens where I paid to have all the fluids checked and filled. Afterwards I came to find I had barely any power steering fluid, oil, brake fluid and only a quarter full of coolant. I called and explained what I had found. The man on the phone told me to come in and they would recheck the fluids and fill any that I needed. I left work early to bring my car in where I spoke with the mechanic. After politely explaining what happened, instead of rechecking the fluids as I was told, he responded by saying "Well I did it" and "Are you calling me a liar?" I tried to explain to him that it was not the case but I did pay for the service and was told they would check the fluids if I brought it in. After another few minutes of the mechanic grumbling and complaining. I told him I would just take my car elsewhere. I will never spend money here again. I paid for a service that he failed to complete and when I politely asked him to recheck it I was verbally harassed. Do not waste your money here. read more

I had a flat back tire that I could not get off due to the tire being rusted on the wheel, so I called around and found that Bowens's Garage was not only close but very reasonable so I spoke to mike the owner and he told me to bring my car in on a Friday which was only a two day wait. I explained to mike that I needed two new tires, gave him the tire info and also asked if he could give me an estimate for rear bearings as well. Well Friday came and I dropped off my car at 8:00 spoke again with mike the owner and explained that I wanted the two new tires on the front and for him to replace my back tire (the reason I even came in) with one of the old front tires. I also asked him do an estimate for labor on doing rear bearings. Mike told me he would take care of my bad tire throw the mew tires on the front and get my estimate done, I then asked when should I return and he then asked me what I thought was a silly question, which was do you want to pick up your truck in the morning or evening, mind you it is 8:00AM I told him I prefer the morning, mike then told me to return around 11:00AM. So I returned to Bowens garage at 11 sharp only to find mike on the side of the building checking oil on another car , mike saw me waiting in the waiting room but never bothered to stop what he was doing to help me or the other customer that was left waiting. After 15min of waiting a very young tire tech came from out of the garage, I asked if he had the estimate in which he told me that there was no estimate only a bill for changing the tire. I then asked if mike switched out the bad rear tire which had fix a flat on it in order to bring it up the road he replied yes, so I figured I would just call later so I paid for my bill took a walk around the truck and inspected the rear tire. Where the actual hole in the tire was I did not see due to the face the hole was hidden between the pavement/gravel an the bottom of the tire, hidden from view, so from what I had seen I figured I was good to go so I proceeded on my way. Not even 50miles later my tire emergency low pressure signal goes off an I knew immediately that I have just received half ass service. So due to the fact that when this was taking place the time was already 8:45pm so I parked my truck for the night and waited till the next morning when I was able to find a Firestone in which I pulled in explained to the tech was I had just experienced he was very polite and told me he would take a look. So I waited about 20 mins in which I came out only to hear the air passing through the very same hole in the very same tire that I came in to damn bowens garage to fix, I could still see the white fix-a-flat . So the tech told me he put some more air in and I asked if I would be able to drive 40 miles on it he said yep so I had a friend follow me all the way back to bowens garage I pulled right in hopped out of my truck walked right up to mike and ripped him a new one I then demanded his lazy ass to do the original work he was supposed to do the day before and I will be watching very step. THE FACT WAS BOWEN'S GARAGE WAS NOT ONLY INCOMPETENT, BUT THE ALSO PLACED MY LIFE AND THE LIFE'S OF OTHER MOTORIST IN DANGER WITH THEIR HALF ASS WAY OF WHAT THEY CALL PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS. These guys are honest and some of the best in the area. I have never had an issue after working with them. They have reasonable prices, they live up to their timetables, and really do a great job of counseling you on what you should look for or do...even if that means more work, they are honest about how necessary it might be. read more

Being a parent that is hours away from their student, it's nice to know we can trust this place to give us an honest evaluation instead of charging us for something that didn't need to be done yet, even when that's what we called to schedule. They did an evaluation and instead of charging us the $650 for the job we thought, they bled the air out of the lines for a total bill of less than $45. read more

I just want to say that I wish I lived closer to Bowen's Garage so I could have all my service work done there. Last Saturday, my wife and I were driving my company Ford Econoline up from suburban Chicago to Minneapolis loaded with furniture and closet parts (that's what I do) for our daughter's new downtown apartment. We had a 12:00 move in time with freight elevator reservation. We stopped at the Flying J in Roberts, Wi for our last fill up prior to crossing the border and, then I tried to start the van, nothing..... Battery is brand new, so i knew it wasn't that, so I tapped on the starter with a hammer and it started to crank, but didn't have enough to start. I called every garage around as well as the Ford dealer and nobody could get me in until later in the week. Finally I got ahold of Mike at Bowen's and explained our situation. He told me if I could get it towed there, He would get it done for us! He asked me if I was sure the problem was the starter and I said that I was 90% sure. He said I'll call now and order the starter and jump on it as soon as we could get it there. We found a tow service to get the truck there and Mike jumped on it the minute it was off the flatbed. Total time from initial call to driving away was 2 hours and we were only 20 minutes late for the elevator reservation!
