Love the atmosphere at Bowerman's bright and cheery. Staff is always friendly. The flavors were good. It's a salty one with the ham so be prepared for that. Also the bread on the under side was a bit soggy. It was a little difficult to hold it and eat. One of the slices I managed to eat with both hands the other I resorted to a knife and fork. Fresh and flavorful food served by friendly staff. We came in for lunch and enjoyed a delightful meal here. I had a chicken salad and iced latte. I would order it again, although I would also want to order more items off the menu. The bakery and frozen baked goods all looked delightful; I hope to try something from there next time! There was a short, but reasonable wait for food to be brought to tables (order at the counter). Staff are quick to keep tables clean. It can be a little loud in here, but it is a very inviting and clean cafe. Two single restrooms are available in the back of the cafe. read more

This is the downtown location. We stopped in on Sunday to check it out. We ordered a coffee and headed out on the cold blustery walk around downtown. The space is large. Lots of options very similar to the farm store. We already loaded up on bakery items from the farm store so didn't make more purchases here. They were open later in the afternoon than most businesses downtown but still closed up by 4pm. Great spot for a bite and beverage while strolling around. read more

I went to Bowerman's when I went to Holland to see the tulips. I went on a Monday and I was surprised at how busy everything was after the weekend. The first restaurant I chose from my Google search, had a line out the door, but then I had seen Bowerman's when I was turning the corner to park my car and I decided to check them. The wait wasn't long at all. I was able to get gluten-free toast and that made me very happy. The only thing I would've liked better was that my food was delivered hot, but since it was busy, and I was on a mission to eat and get to the festival, at some point, I didn't care. Pretty strong breakfast/ bakery option in Downtown Holland. Too many options to choose from. I had the pig in a pocket. It was tasty. Nice big sausage wrapped in flaky pie crust. The gravy was awesome too. I didn't spend too much time reviewing the menu but it did seem limited. My overall impression is this a a better coffee/ pastry place than a hearty breakfast. Boy oh boy, am I glad I came to Bowermans! If you are unemployed or can afford to waste your time, this is the spot for you. This place has a prime piece of real estate and they take advantage of it thoroughly. They have figured out that they can keep profits high while providing the most mediocre experience of all time, simply because the location and interior look nice. My meal was a thrilling experience. I ordered the Caprese grilled cheese, which ended up being neither grilled nor cheesy. What I received after 35 minutes of standing near the counter was a cold abomination comprised of bread, soggy tomatoes, a couple chunks of mozzarella with the consistency of a tire, and a mysterious rubbery layer that reminded me of beef jerky if you made it taste like ass. The chips were the highlight of the meal. But at least I received my lavender latte after only 15 minutes of waiting, which by the taste of it must have been created by mixing an even ratio of coffee, pure lavender extract, and sweat. But let's rewind back to my ordering experience. The one part of the interior design that is lacking is the menu. The bright images and big text are akin to your local Chinese strip mall to-go place that has the owners kid doing math homework at the corner table. After giving my order to the cashier (who was nice, no complaints about the staff), I immediately folded and tipped 10% on the little iPad, bringing my total to 47 thousand dollars. My latte alone could have paid off the national debt of a third world country. I left the shop without any inkling of positive emotion. My congratulations to the owners of this establishment. Loved the ambiance and food! This is walk up style where you order and the food is brought to your table. The system seemed to work well. By the time we got through the line, there were plenty of tables to choose from. We ordered the bacon quiche that came with a blueberry salad and a blueberry bread. We also ordered the fiesta bowl with onions, peppers and spinach added to it. My husband also had the peach lemonade slushy which he enjoyed. At long last Bowermans blueberry farm has opened it's bakery and cafe on 8th street in downtown Holland!!!!!!!!!! If you've ever visited the farm on James Street on the north side of Holland then you are already aware of what an absolute GEM this is. I'm ready for ALL the blueberry bakery items. If you like eating like a zoo animal, then this is the place for you. It's an "order at the counter, then fend for yourself to grab a table" free-for-all. The menu is long and complex and posted all over the place. Nice they have so many choices. Amazing that so many patrons don't make up their damn minds until they get to the front of the line. Then they take their time, with ten people waiting behind them, looking over menu boards, asking--"is that made with FROZEN blueberries or FRESH blueberries?" You know the type. They give out "Culver's-style" number cards to put on your table so the servers can drop off your food, that is--if you can manage to get a table, and if the servers can manage to cut through the crowds to find you. My brother got his pancakes about 45 minutes after the rest of us. The self-serve coffee station is located where customers turn around to leave the order line, and where the servers are leaving the kitchen to deliver their meals to wherever the hell their diners might be sitting. So, there's a line for coffee bumping into the line for food, bumping into the folks who are simply waiting for "to-go" orders bumping into the servers running in and out of the kitchen. Watch out for the strollers, too. I have no problem with kids in a restaurant, but the little ones standing around in this area are kind of hazardous as their families stalk and plunge for a free table. Also noisy. Very, very noisy. Why do so many people eat here? Probably because they don't want to wait for a table at the Windmill down the street. Probably because they're tourists and they don't know any better. Probably because they try it once--think next time it won't be so bad, and then never return. Like me. I hate this place. read more

Boweans is hands down my favorite place to go for breakfast when I stay in Holland. Their service is quick, their food is delicious and they make some great coffee here as well. The restaurant is so cute and cozy and it doubles as a little shop for the blueberry items from the farm. The best part? They sell premade frozen varieties of their quiches and pies. Their quiches are the best ever - I take one home every time I'm in town. They also make this cherry blueberry crumb pie and it's to die for! Not too sweet and packed with blueberries and cherries. Do yourself a favor, if you're in town, make this your breakfast stop at least one morning. read more

One thing to have in mind when you go here, they are not dog friendly- don't let dogs ESA (emotional support animal) or even service dogs to dine in. By personal experience, we walked in getting out of the rain and notified them that our dog is registered and we ordered our meal. Then while waiting for our order the manager came to tell us to dine outside while it was still raining, which is very inconvenient after not saying anything until ordering $50+ of food. Definitely lacking proper training for handling customer service in offering better accommodations for the customer. read more

Its decent... I had a chicken salad croissant that was honestly not a good value, meaning it was a "good for a gas station" but not good for 14 dollars. Pretty skimpy on the chicken. My friend had a cobb salad and it looked awesome; and the cinnamon roll we split was pretty good. Another had the quiche and said it was good so maybe I just made a poor choice. My favorite is with the ham and blueberry jam. OMG. So good. And the best part is you can also buy the blueberry jam at the store and put it on everything that you make at home. So good. This restaurant has wonderful bakery items, unique and tasty coffee drinks/flavor options and the sandwiches we had were off the charts delicious but from the time I completed my order (not a table service restaurant) until our 2 sandwiches were delivered, 30 full minutes!!!! That is a bit much for sandwiches that I can pretty much guarantee all components were pre-made so basically sandwich needs building and tray decorated with kettle chips and tiny cup of pickled blueberries and red onions. We did not arrive at a peak time nor did it appear that there were a lot of to go orders coming in. Great location, surrounded by nice boutiques. I got the decaf latte (oat milk and sugar free vanilla). Excellent! The best part...the gluten free cinnamon donut!
