I have never understood the negative comments I have seen about this Los toon. Everyone in this location has always been very helpful to me - and I have lived in this neighborhood for over 25 years. They have every type of moving and packing supply you would ever need, there is plenty of parking behind the store, and their packing and shipping service is second to none - especially with delicate electronic items. Go to Box City only if you enjoy getting ripped off and experiencing lackluster customer service. I came here because I was in a bind and needed a large box for an office chair. None of their staff acknowledged my presence or bothered to assist me in finding an appropriate box. Ultimately, I purchased their 36 x 36 x 36 sized box...for a whopping $38 after tax. $38...for a box. I can't imagine what their profit margins must look like. read more

I've purchased boxes from multiple Box City locations. I sell on multiple different e-commerce platforms and find myself constantly needing different size boxes. Box City is one of the better places to go when you need different size boxes all the time. If you only need 1 size you can check out Uline. I love the prices and selection at Box City. Only thing I would wish they improved on is the attitude of the employees. I've been coming to this location on and off for over 2 years now and this specific location always has the most depressed looking employees. Most the other locations the employees will be more than happy to show you where a specific box is compared to this one where the employees will point to a certain direction "yeah its over there". Just stopped by to get some boxes. Employees were so rude and not helpful. They expected me to pull out 50 boxes from top of the stack without any help. I had to drag the boxes. They just stood there on the phone talking to a friend. Then when I went to pay I heard the owner on the phone gossiping with her friend. I frequently visit the Venice store for my business and they are so nice. They always carry everything to my car for me. Will never come to this location again. You need a box for something? These guys sell boxes. It's a store full of boxes. Pretty straight forward. They have everything from tiny jewelry boxes to individual record mailers to enormous boxes no human being could lift if it was full. It's inconceivable that there could be an object that does not fit nicely into a box in this store. Prices are reasonable. If you need a box, this is probably your spot. read more

Every possible size box you could ever need, neatly stacked in order, clearly labeled - plus packing peanuts, tape, labels, jewelry boxes (who knew I was going to need a box for Great Aunt Min's fake pearls?). This store is a UPS access point where UPS leaves packages when they could not be delivered. I had the unfortunate experience of having a package wind up there. Not only are the posted hours extremely limited, when I left work early to make it there before 6 pm (posted closing time) they were already closed at 10 to 6 when I arrived. read more

Ok, I am giving them an extra star because of my most recent visit. More stars if future visits go this well. Yes, I know I said I would not return because of the poor customer service but there is something to be said for convenience. :) I'm not sure if they read their Yelp reviews or it is just a very odd coincidence but for the first time ever they delivered awesome customer service. I was cheerfully greeted when I walked in. I brought my boxes to the counter and the woman at the register smiled and was very pleasant. She gave me my receipt, thanked me and asked one of the workers to help me to the car with my boxes. WOW - after years of coming here, that is a first! The worker, again cheerfully, helped me to my car and even said "Have a Nice Day!". It was a bit of a twilight zone experience after being ignored by the workers so many times. The pleasant attitude and especially the help to the car were very much appreciated. . As for the boxes, there is always a nice selection at affordable prices. read more

Came by this store to check if they had some boxes in the sizes that I was looking for. I saw some boxes on the internet, but I wanted to check this place out first to see if they had some so that I would not have to pay shipping fees. As it turns out, Box City didn't have any boxes in the sizes that I was looking for and the closest one that they had was about 3 times the price of the ones that I saw online. Don't get me wrong, Box City has a lot of boxes, and most of them are pretty decently priced. These particular box sizes are just not that common. Box city for the most part has a pretty large box selection, with all of the other things that goes with boxes such as popcorn, bubble wrap, butcher paper, tape, etc. The inside of this location is not the nicest, the carpets are worn, the interior looks like it has seen better days, but hey, we're just coming here to buy boxes, so I don't expect the place to look like the Hilton. read more

Need a box? Any kind of box? This is the place. The selection is enormous, with corrugated cardboard galore, all arranged in careful order, so finding what you want isn't difficult -- even in what really is a city of boxes. People may think of this as a place just for moving boxes (they have every kind of moving box you can imagine, including big wardrobes), but they have seemingly every other kind of box as well. There's an excellent selection of gift boxes of every size and shape, along with plenty of colored tissue to help you make the perfect package. (Gift boxes are usually why I come here.) They also have a wide selection of all sizes of packing tape, along with bubble wrap, and styrofoam peanuts and sheets. You can find everything you need if you have something delicate to ship. (They also stock both plastic and bubble mailers.) The staff are generally helpful and can answer questions, although I wouldn't call the service attentive. There's even plenty of parking behind the store. Basically, if you need a box, you'll be very happy after you visit this Box City. read more

Extreme lack of customer service. They normally don't have the right size I'm looking for and are often unfriendly. I prefer to drive further to the Washington Blvd location where the employees there are friendly, memorized all of the sizes they have and even leave the counter and show you what they have in stock. read more

Convenient spot with easy parking access in the back. They have a ton of boxes..as the name would suggest. I don't know what the average price is for a med/large moving box, but I got a good mix of them for my move (2 bedroom apt) and spent about $50 from what I remember. Some people are complaining about the service but I don't really know what there is to complain about..you're going to pick up boxes.. if you need help, there is someone at the cash register who is available. There wasn't anything terrific about the place, but it did the job and was easy! read more

Foul-Mouthed, Rude, Nasty and Vicious Owner As my wife was driving away after being asked to move our car by an employee, the woman owner came out like a madwoman, charged at my wife, ranted and raved at her, and called her a "f--k--g b-tch" in front of me and my two daughters because we parked in one of the 15 or so unoccupied Box City spaces on a quiet Sat. morning. My wife's a psychologist so she ignored this screaming lunatic. I took serious offense at this vicious lack of decency and civility. Totally unnecessary. Our parking there had zero impact on her or her business. I acknowledge that 20 of the 30+ parking spaces (my estimate) in the shared parking lot in the back are reserved for Box City (and as a real estate attorney appreciate that tenants pay for their spaces). As all 5 spaces for the Pilates studio next door were filled and 15 Box City spaces were unoccupied, we committed the apparent capital offense of parking in one of them for an hour. When we came out, there were at least 12 unoccupied Box City spaces and we were asked to move our car by an employee, which we did immediately. But the owner had to spew her vile and hatred. Vicious, mean and totally pointless. We did her no harm and apologized. Why would anyone do business with someone who behaves in such a manner? No wonder there's so many empty spaces! They sell boxes and stuff. Prices are okay as boxes go (why are boxes cost so much anyway?), and they also have the kits for dishes, glassware, etc. I was a bit annoyed that not all of the boxes have handles... should be pretty standard, no? I bought a "large box" and filled it up, only realizing afterward that there was nowhere to hold it -- and I was hauling down stairs without a dolly, so that wasn't fun. I go to Box City at least twice a month. Usually I go to their other locations in Pasadena or canoga park. I always receive excellent service. But this location is very different. They don't give volume discounts on boxes if you buy different sizes (unless you remind them to.) Won't help carry your boxes out either. read more
