Chicken sandwich
Denise D.

While waiting on a furniture delivery from North Carolina we decided to get some quick food we could eat at home. Boxcar Betty's sounded like it fit the bill. It sure did. The pimento cheese chicken sandwich with homemade pickles and peach salsa was tasty but I'm more of a purist so I don't want or need that many flavors on my sammie. I chose the smash burger and it was delicious. I dont usually love a smash burger because I think they are crunchy , but this one was not . So I was happy. Thought the fries were outstanding but they were pretty much dumped out in the bag. They got home hot so that's all that matters. It was clean and everything was cooked to order. I look forward to trying a regular chicken sandwich next time.,Folks were friendly.

Really good natural fries. Cut fresh and fried daily. Plump grilled chicken in salad/bowl form. I've had the fried chicken fingers before my gluten Intolerance and they are good. Nicely seasoned too. Quick service, nice staff with no frills eating place. Love that they don't use antibiotics or hormones in their chicken. Would definitely return.

Smash burger and fries, outdoor seating on a nice day

Super tasty smash burger and fries for lunch. Would go back again in a heartbeat. Casual/quick serve style, order at counter. Highly recommended for a pretty delicious quick lunch.

Great dinner choice. The boxcar is my favorite choice. If you wanna step it up a notch I recommend adding the bacon jam. The service is quick and staff is friendly. The restaurant it's self is very laid back and because it's in a shopping center parking is easy. There is also some outdoor seating so you can enjoy the beautiful weather.

My first time trying Box Car Betty and I was not disappointed. The Chicken was juicy and well seasoned. I will definitely be back.

The Boxcar

My brother was in town for Thanksgiving and while out running errands, he wanted to stop "at that delicious chicken sandwich place we ate at last year." Boxcar hit the spot again. The philosophy of a small menu of food "done right," is genius. The chicken sandwiches with unique Southern toppings like pimiento cheese, bacon jam and peach slaw, give these sandwiches the final kick. This time I tried the chicken tenders and they were absolutely yummy: Lightly breaded and fried to perfection, moist and juicy, without being greasy. We enjoy the convenience of receiving a number to place on the table so we can sit down and talk while sipping our drinks and waiting for our food to be served to us. The atmosphere is simple and bright. The menu is displayed in large print on the wall, just before the registers. Drinks are self-service and refillable. There is outdoor patio seating as well. If you like chicken, you'll love Boxcar Betty's. And yes, they also offer smash burgers, as well as stuffed portobello mushrooms as alternative protein choices to grilled or fried chicken.

Classic smash burger and fries

After completing a 100 mile bike ride for Ride the low county we were starving and decided we I try this place. The menu is self explanatory and offered great choices. The server was very helpful and allowed my hubby to try the Kentucky beer cheese spread before ordering. She had an awesome personality and was very patient. Not too many people weee dining so the service was prompt. The smash burgers were cooked to perfection and the fires were delicious. I would definitely recommend.

Fresh, steaming hot chicken sandwich. Got the Boxcar Chicken with everything on the side. Yummy.

For a quick meal, it serves its purpose! We don't love fast food, and we needed a break from Chick-fil-A. The price is also reasonable!

Fries are in their own fryer, and grilled chicken is gluten free. Marked order for allergy, which was appreciated.

Very rude customer service. The food is so so not consistent and way over priced. Five Guys is far better or Canes!

Waitress tried to take out order while standing in side the restaurant insisting she didn't know who our server was and that she would find out. We made her come back to table so we could order like normal customers. She came back took all the orders at once and only came to check on us only when dropping something off. Food was alright, charged for an extra dressing and bread was as soggy as your first ex wife. For the inconvenience she offered us a free cookie which she brought out still wrapped not even warmed or on a plate. Funny thing is I was paying with a gift card from a previous messed up order where we picked up and they forgot to add the extra protein on all of our salads then when they remade the order they somehow did it again. The drinks we got were gross but she didn't ask and at this point we were over it. 71 dollars for a mediocre meal and bad service with a waitress who could care less if we lived or died. Funny after already having to give this place another shot from the previous mishap. Oh, the table next us was being served, got their food and drink before us and left before us as well. Not sure what happened there.

Parking was easy. This was a fun place with nice ambience…read more Staff were attentive as well as very friendly, and the six of us enjoyed our food.

Ordered an iced vanilla latte, it was pretty tasty. Loaded avocado bowl was decent. Avocado was fresh and ripe. Egg made the way I ordered. The menu says it comes with kale, I received lightly sautéed spinach. Potatoes were seasoned and a bit undercooked, but I enjoyed them. I added prosciutto (+$4!!) and it was way too salty to finish. They fry it a little which explains the saltiness. I expected the charcuterie board type. Sourdough crostini was way too toasted, I was only able to buy into the middle part. ~$30 on a meal that was just really not worth it.

Despite the big crowd, they were able to get our Coffee and Food out quickly. As we waited, we enjoyed the soft sound of music that was dialed to the perfect volume level creating a relaxing environment to get work done and enjoy our breakfast. My Latte came out first, unlike many coffee shops, the balance between milk and espresso was flawless. To preface this reaction, I do enjoy tasting the robust flavors of the beans in a latte, and they nailed it at Owlbear. The Frothy Effervescent milk foam was immaculate; the baristas here are consumate professionals.... Now, on to the breakfast burrito. I asked the sales associate for her recommendation between the lox bagel and the breakfast burrito; she stated that the Burrito was a very popular item, so I gave that a go. I was blown away. What stood out to me was the slight hint of lime in the āhuacamōlli (hear me out) made this burrito unique and special. The spice level was not overbearing and the potatoes were perfectly cooked. To wrap things up, I highly recommend Owlbear cafe, and will be visiting again when I voyage to Charleston later this summer; one thing to keep in mind with Owlbear are the portion sizes, I wouldn't call myself a "big eater"; However I was left wanting more food as the portions are very small, almost warranting a removal of star #5

The food is authentic, organic, fresh, and absolutely delicious. They have a great selection, including drinks, coffee, cakes, paninis, and sandwiches, and everything I've had has been excellent. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with its own unique style and personality. They also have a really nice outdoor seating area, which makes it even better when the weather is nice. But the best part for me is the customer service. The owner and cook always treat me like family, come out to talk, and make the experience personal every single time. That kind of hospitality is hard to find and makes a big difference. I'm really glad we have a place like this in Mount Pleasant -- authentic food, great atmosphere, and genuinely wonderful people. Three thumbs up, five stars. Highly recommend.

I chose the Spicy Chicken Wrap and a caramel frappe. The frappe was pretty and also yummy. The wrap was huge - I could only eat half of it. It was essentially a large salad wrapped in a tortilla. It wasn't that spicy, but it was tasty. Service was quick, the place was clean, staff was friendly, and the food was good. I would certainly go back again.

I've been coming to this CAVA location for about five years, and I've generally had good…read moreexperiences, which is why this review is disappointing to write. The last two times I've ordered pita chips and hummus through the app, the online ordering process felt completely pointless. Both times, my order was marked with an estimated pickup time, but it wasn't actually ready until more than 10 minutes after that. While I was waiting, I watched employees serve 15+ people who came through the regular line after I had already placed and paid for my order. I even saw pita chips being given to customers in line while I was still waiting for the chips I had ordered earlier. It just doesn't seem like online orders are being prioritized or managed efficiently. On top of that, both orders of pita chips were so heavily seasoned and salty that I couldn't finish them. I've had the pita chips here many times over the years and never had this issue before, but the last two visits have been consistent enough that it feels worth mentioning. As a college student, eating out is something I have to budget for and is a treat I look forward to. When the food isn't edible because it's overly salty and the pickup process takes significantly longer than expected, it feels like a waste of money. I know everyone has off days, and I've had plenty of positive experiences at this location in the past. However, because this has happened twice in a row, I'll definitely be more hesitant about ordering here in the future.
