Absolutely horrible experience. We reserved a truck a week in advance, only to arrive and be told it had a flat tire. (Umm hello you don't check your trucks?) Instead of honoring our reservation by providing another truck, they refused, claiming they "didn't trust my husband to bring it back." We were shocked by how we were treated!!! When we became understandably frustrated after they failed to provide the truck we had reserved, they called the police instead of trying to resolve the situation. The responding officers were professional and told us they had received numerous complaints about this location before, but explained there was nothing they could do because it's a private business. The entire experience felt extremely dishonest and misleading. We lost valuable time, our moving plans were disrupted, and we were treated with complete disrespect. We are opening a case regarding what happened and we believe this place is fraudulent!!! Please do yourself a favor and avoid this location. If I could give negative stars I would. I contacted this U-Haul location today because our refrigerator broke unexpectedly and I needed quick, basic guidance on which vehicle in their fleet would be suitable to move it. The employee who answered the phone demonstrated zero knowledge of the services or vehicles this business provides. Even more concerning, he abruptly hung up on me mid-conversation. When I attempted to call back to clarify or resolve the issue, my calls were repeatedly answered and immediately disconnected. This was not a dropped call--it was intentional. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable, especially for a business that people rely on during stressful, time-sensitive situations like unexpected appliance failures or moves. If you work for a company, you should at minimum understand what it offers and how to treat customers with basic respect. Hanging up on customers is not a mistake--it's a choice. Management should be aware that this location reflects poorly on the U-Haul brand. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic customer service here is astounding. The guy running this place clearly could not care less about customer service. He wasn't mean but he acted very much put-upon to answer questions or actually do anything. In addition: we needed to rent a pickup twice. After the first time we reserved the second time for a few days later. He asked if 10a would be ok. We said sure but that it might be closer to noon. He didn't say anything about it so it was a shock when we pulled up at 11:40a to watch someone else getting in the pickup and driving away. The guy, still not caring in the slightest, blandly informed us that there was a 90 min window so U-Haul double booked when we didn't show up by 11:30a. Not once did he say anything about this time window on our prior visit, especially as we SAID we'd be there closer to noon. As a final note - we needed to rent the truck to pull a U-Box. The pickup does NOT come with a trailer hitch. He sent us on a long chase to buy a hitch at an out of the way hardware store when we could have bought one for half price at the regular UHaul place on Monument. The bottom line: avoid the place on Detroit Ave unless you have no other choice. read more

I rented a 16' U-haul truck recently and was grossly overcharged. The checkout process was smooth, although I was not given a physical contract. I rented the truck for Saturday and Sunday, and didn't have to drop the truck off until Monday morning. I explained to the representative that I would be dropping off Sunday night. He said 'no problem' and explained the process for dropping off when the business was closed. Once I got my receipt after my move, I was charged $20 for returning outside of business hours! At no time was this policy disclosed! Had I known I would have dropped off Monday morning when they opened. In addition, I was given the vehicle with the gas gauge reading a bit under half full. The representative said the truck was half full. I noted that the truck was not exactly half full but I assumed since it was close there wouldn't be an issue. I used the truck a total of 12 miles for the move, and before dropping off I put $20 of fuel in the truck, more than enough to cover the limited mileage. The gas gauge did not move! However, my receipt showed that I was charged $18 for 3 gallons of gas! It was obvious that the gas gauge was broken but was still charged! So I did nothing wrong and was charged an extra $38!!! I left a review with U-haul but never heard from the local dealer. I am very displeased and want everyone to know the type of business they run! read more

I decided to give this place a chance; based on reviews, and the fact that they could make custom-sized boxes. Josh went above and beyond for everything I needed to ship out wooden yard art. The guy who helped me was really helpful and friendly and walked me through everything I would need. The prices were reasonable and for about 10 boxes assorted sizes, tape and a huge thing of paper that I didn't even get through, my total was $63. I was about to rave. However... After reviewing my receipts, I notice that some prices were "mistakenly typed" or whatever. They were higher than labeled at the warehouse store. 5s instead of 2s. 6s instead of 3s. How convenient. Amounts too small for me to drive all the way back. On May 8th, I made a large deposit over 1,000 for a ship. On May 9th, I called Josh to cancel. Josh informed me that he could not refund me my money because all sales are final because it was on the receipt. There are no signs posted anywhere in plain sight, nor was it disclosed that the deposit would be non refundable. I find this practice dishonest and illegal. They are affordable, super great on customer service and don't try to upsell you crap you don't need. They have used box options too. They truly are a one stop shop for all moving needs. I chose this store based on high reviews, and very glad that I did. Josh is the name of manager (owner?) and all I had to tell him was what I wanted re: manageable size and he knew immediately where to direct me, and that they come packaged in 25 count. I couldn't be more pleased. Josh has clearly done this for quite a while, and intuitively knows his customer's needs. At a time when quality service is not always easy to find, I am very impressed!! I was referred to Boxes for Moving & Storage by United Van Lines who I contracted with to move me across country next month. Phil Morisey is the business owner and a more pleasant person simply cannot be found. Not only did I arrive at his location a tad bit early this morning, but he was already open and ready to do business. Phil was very helpful, not pushy, and had a great sense of humor. My moving company gave me a list of the size and number of boxes that I would need and Phil methodically gathered the boxes and offered many helpful hints. When it came to the dish packs...I was clueless. Phil explained the differences between them. Since I have a china service for 12, he quickly helped me decide what to do since the dish packs come in service sizes for 8 and 6. This place also has moving pads, bubble wrap, packing paper, mattress bags, and anything else you may need to moving securely. If you are moving locally, Phil will buy back your boxes as well. I'm hoping to find a similar service in Indy where I am relocating so that I can sell back some of my boxes. read more

We received a 10% off card from Boxes for Moving & Storage. Curious, I checked Yelp for more information regarding this business. I was excited to find the reviews were very positive in all regards, from service to price. Money is a big concern for me and my family at this time and it was my fault that I did not compare prices at other places first to find the cheapest used moving boxes. Everyone was right about the owner Phil, he is kind and very helpful. The prices however were almost double of what they would cost at Box Cycle. I bought 10 small (used) moving boxes at 1.35 each and 10 medium (used) moving boxes at 1.90 each. At Box Cycle the cost of a small used moving box is .75 cents each and the medium and large moving boxes are 1.00 each. I appreciate that he reuses moving boxes and buys them back. I do think this is a great "green" service that he offers. I am moving out of the area and will not be selling the boxes back to him. Because of this, I feel as though his prices are NOT competitive and I can not afford to buy the rest of my moving boxes from him. read more

We were impressed by the Yelp reviews and so we came here to get boxes for our remodeling project. Our only disappointment was that we didn't call ahead of time to warn the owner we wanted so many of the white file boxes with lids. He gave us all he had, and we settled for remainder in the large brown boxes with the flap lids you either tape or fold down. He was a pleasure to do business with and we were in/out quickly. Not wanting to pay for boxes that I will use once and not wanting to stalk Craigslist or moving boxes, I found Boxes for Moving & Storage near my home. It's in a less-traveled area and unless you have business to attend to here, you probably would never even know about it. But thanks to Yelp and the internet that may change. If you know what you want, you can call in your order ahead of time. And then you can sell them back again once you are done with them. Customer service is good when you are being served but one person can only handle one thing at a time.
