Needed two over-sized, odd-shaped boxes for items I ship from my small business. I tried USPS, online, Lowes, Office Depot, Home Depot - even checked out availability and pricing on ebay and Amazon. No one had the right dimension box or I would be forced to spend $50-$200 for a pack of multiple boxes. I was at my wit's end, trying to figure out how to ship two important orders without spending more than I wanted to on a shipping box. I finally called UPS to ask if they had the right size for me to purchase - although I did not want to use UPS as a carrier, preferring USPS - they told me they did not even carry the size box I needed, but referred me to this establishment. From my first inquiry phone call to the next day purchase of the boxes, I had a courteous man immediately help me with my shipping needs. The pricing was very reasonable. The shop is fairly small, but they carry a large assortment and range of box sizes. I went in sort of end of day, an hour before closing. and I was served with courtesy and care. This will now be my "Go To" shop for shipping supplies. read more

I come here to get lottery tickets all the time but something about a box store is interesting to me. I sometimes just look at all the boxes. I often need a specific sized box for something at home and I always forget I can probably find it here. I wish he'd stop trying to sell me tickets for the mega/lottery/super lotto that I'm not buying every time (I just want what I ask for, not whatever other one is about to happen) but outside that, great store and great owner. read more

Rude for no reason. I came in to pick up an item that wasn't delivered to me for some reason. It shows on his system that it was too late, already returned to sender. That's okay - he could've just told me that. Instead he was abrasively lecturing me about coming earlier or I should have sent a friend if I was out of town. Very Unnecessarily rude. I can count on one hand how many words I said to this guy. (Hi, I'm picking up *hands over slip*). So unfortunate to reach this age & still not understand mannerisms & customer service. I then had a package with me & was attempting to finish my sentence "Are you able to accept this return". I was rudely cut off & asked for a label & lectured yet again "NO LABEL NO RETURN". Amazon had given me only a QR code. Sir, I was not about to fight you about that - you could have relayed that information without hostility. Honestly WTF just happened to me now. read more

I come here probably once a week to buy boxes for items I sell online. He always has a box that will fit the items I've sold. He's very matter of fact - I get what I need and I head out. Parking is convenient. You can buy packing peanuts and bubble wrap as well. Great store for us online sellers! read more

Box Stop features U-Line products, single- through triple-walled, plus packing supplies. I recently shipped a deconstructed office chair, heavy and bulky, in need of lots of support Ken worked with me on sizing options and modified 30" cubed boxes to my specs, helping me save over $100 shipping on each item. He is patient, full of good humor, and knows his corrugated. Be sure to check out the used section back of house for those specialty and odd sized items recycled by locals. I'm sad to see any bad reviews of the Box Stop. I sell antiques and vintage items online and often have a need for a weird-sized shipping box. Ken has EVERYTHING. Today I had to ship two antique brass coffin stands (yes really). I had to pack them in one box, because shipping in two would have been ridiculously expensive. He measured them for me, pondered for a few minutes, and then went and got a used box that was the perfect size. A new box in the same huge size would have cost at least $15. He charged me $5, helped me pack it, and let me leave it in the store while I went home and printed my eBay label and packing slip. I came back and finished my packing and he was as patient and helpful as anyone ever could have been. I have had this experience many times with the Box Stop when my shipping needs exceeded my abilities to figure them out. He also boxed and shipped a lot of items out of my mother-in-law's estate when my brother-in-law was taking them back to his home. Everything was reasonably charged and there was no damage to anything. No, I don't expect him to provide me with free tape and packing materials. He's in business just like I am. What he provides me is more valuable: expertise that helps me receive my customers their unusual and fragile items intact and as inexpensively as possible. Highly recommended. read more

They're extremely helpful either finding exactly what size of box I need or working with me on the most cost effective solution. I've yet to have any unpleasant experience. UPS dropped my package off here since I could not pick it up at home. I attempted to go pick up the package when the store says it is open and of course, it's still closed. Wait around for another 15 minutes....still closed. I drive off because at this point, I'm late for work. After failing to find parking at the Walnut Creek Bart, I drive by the store again, now 30 minutes after it's stated opening time...nope still closed. Being that I work in San Francisco and the store hours are 9(?) - 5:30 .... how on earth do I get my package. read more

Do not go here for your boxes! They must buy them at a discounted price because they have all at some point gotten damp and smell moldy. I realized this too late after we had already packed and consequently, all of the items in the boxes that can absorb the foul odor, did. I had to rewash all of the clothes and discard the boxes. read more

Just pray that you don't get this place as a UPS access point because this place is the worst. 1st instance: tracked my package according to my invoice slip and it said my package was there. When I went there Ken, who you can barely understand, said it sometimes takes up to 2 business days for the package to get there and my lookup was wrong.... cool... 2nd instance: Came back after the 2 business days to pick up my package. It was under my boyfriend's name so I brought the slip, proof that I also lived at the address with a letter, and I could pull up the Amazon order on my phone. Ken started arguing with me and calling me a liar. I threatened to call UPS on him (which I did and they are taking care of the situation) and he was like call the police on me and see if I care. Needless to say I've never felt so uncomfortable or had a worker, from a place I was a customer, yell at me which is completely unprofessional. I've never had this much trouble at the Walnut Creek post office which if you live in the area you know it's the worst too. UPS was very apologetic but I will not be stepping inside this establishment ever again. If you want to be completely disrespected here then this is your place. read more

I'm torn between 1, 2 and 3 stars. It's the huge interrupted wait time, well and the sum of all the other problems. When I posted this review they had only two reviews over the past two years. Their white boxes are the better ones to use. They are pricey, maybe. I will have to throw more money their way, which is why I feel fine giving them one star. Go in with open eyes folks and get the right boxes at the size you need, not the size he tries to convince you that you need. I know, I packed the different sized boxes. big Cons: 1. Their "heavy duty" moving boxes bite. They don't fit together well and they are flimsy. I'm no stranger to shipping heavy stuff and putting together boxes myself. The "moving" boxes aren't worth it. To me this box situation is a deal breaker. Hard to put together or lower grade than claimed -- but can't strike out on both. I put together tons of boxes all the time. I know what I'm talking about concerning the fitting together when you tape down the bottom of the box and then the top when you're finished. 2. If you have the guy look for a box based on the total amount of linear inches you are looking for he can't point you in the right direction. So on my 2nd visit to the shop I was looking for boxes for about 15 minutes. 3. After the whole time I spent getting the right boxes I was heading to the register and the guy jumped on helping a new customer coming in the door. When I came in the first time he was slow to help me, and the 2nd time even slower to help. He's helping these couples find 1 specific box for about 10 mins. THEN, he didn't ring me up, but he rang up the couple. And it took a really long time because he starting putting together their stuff. The patron started to get really embarrassed and as the customer service person to ring me up. 4. They don't give you itemized receipts. Even though there's a sign saying you can bring back boxes in perfect condition. I'm cringing at having to see if they actually honor that. Like are they going to say, "well you should have asked for an itemized bill if you thought you might return." Pros: 1. Parking, 2. convenient if you're in Walnut creek, 3. seemingly nice -- still concerned about getting a super faded credit card receipt that has no itemization of products -- just the grand total. 4. they have the specialty brown tape which I haven't been able to find at the big home box stores that I tried because I don't like moving company names on my boxes. CORRECTION: this brown tape is peeling off the boxes and is low quality. The clear tape roll I got at the post office is much better quality. read more

This place has super friendly staff! Save yourself a fortune off going to UPS or Fedex. Boxes are inexpensive they tape it up and you can ship it right on the spot. I highly recommend. read more

Had a box with no tape, wouldn't help me, told me I needed to buy an entire roll of packing tape. Avoid.

We have shopped at the box stop several times for local moves and now are shopping there for our long distance move. They are always helpful and provide excellent customer service. Their prices are reasonable and they have all the sizes and shapes of boxes one could need. read more
