I was introduced to Teddy through a friend who has had his motors worked on by Boyko for over 20 years. I had an issue with my 2016 KTM 350SXF and Teddy was able to pickup my bike from home and go through the issue and do a full race prep and then deliver the bike at the end of the week. Long story short: Ted ripped me off bad and was a straight up AHOLE. Long story long: I needed work on my head, cylinder, and replacement piston. He kept saying it would be done by the end of the week for about 3 months, whenever I called him he would rarely pick up and when he did he would just start yelling super angry and cussing me out. I finally decided to call him and tell him let's just call it a day and i'll get it done somewhere else with no hard feelings 3 months was just way too long. When I asked how much I owed him he said it was ~$830 (he originally said it would be no more than $600) we argued a bit over the phone and he eventually honored the 600 cost and when I got there I got my ear chewed off again and said everything is perfect that he's losing money on the deal etc... He ended up getting me the wrong piston (for a dirtbike not a quad) and when i showed another machinist (Q&E) the cylinder they said it wasn't even worked on just looked like someone took a grinder to it and it was eggshaped out. 5-thousandths off. I got stuck re-paying for literally everything i paid Ted for. (at a much cheaper rate) I really don't know how someone could 1. be extremely rude to a customer 2. Ok, so let me start by saying....NEVER use the Mobile mechanics on Craigslist. I tried to save a few bucks and got my bike ruined by the dope I let attempt to fix my 2006 DR-Z 400. Let me revise that, don't even let one of them look at your bike, much less touch it. One guy doesn't return calls, and the other will lose pieces off your bike and give it back in worse shape than you gave it. So lets get to Ted and Casey at Boyko Racing....love these guys!!!! Took my bike, and first had to find and fix all the screw-ups, and missing parts from the mobile mechanic. This took a couple weeks, but I got a weekly call with an update as to what they had found, ordered parts for and fixed. Once they got it back to just running poorly, from not at all, they were able to finally analyze the real problem and fix it. Got my bike back today, and have to say, don't think it ran any better the day it rolled off the show room floor! I highly doubt anyone else would have had the patience to find the real problem after all the nonsense they had to find and fix just to get it back to the original problem!!! All done at a very reasonable price I have to say as well. Teddy (Boyko) and Casey really know their stuff when i comes to anything motorcycle related! I took my 1975 Yamaha XS650 to them to have the motor rebuilt... ending up having them finish building the bike!! Wiring and everything. Most shops I went to before did not know how to work on a 1975 Yamaha or anything that had carbs... haha. But Teddy and Casey know old bikes like the back of their hand. After the Yamaha was finished, I purchased a 1998 Harley Sportster (1200 cc) from one of Teddy's old customers. Teddy and Casey hooked the bike up before I rode away on it (since the bike had been sitting for 2+ years. Cleaned out the carbs, changed the trany fuild and gave the entire bike a solid once over. 2004 Honda TRX450R I was tired of racing from all of the modified engine problems I was having, so I tried Teddy and KC at Boyko Racing. They did a top end rebuild. They put a new piston, rings, honed the cylinder, plus installed a water pump, new clutch cover, and tuned the motor according to my intake set up. I got my ATV back a day before my WORCS two round race weekend. They did some cold starts on the motor and I did a few more on the road heading to the race. Didn't know what to expect. The motor ran great!! Didn't puff smoke, didn't run rich/lean(no lean pop), and it idled!! Idled at the gate and down hills! I ran a 21 minute practice, 4 one hour races on the toughest WORCS course in 90+ degree weather. I almost grabbed holeshot 3 out of 4 times. I didn't have to grab the clutch in the down hills or turns and had responsive power thanks to the tuning. I got two 2nd place trophies in 30+! These guys know motors and racing. I am a new customer to Boyko Racing. To be honest I wasn't really sure whether to go there or not based on their website. It seemed their focus was more on building motorcycle race motors or working with dirt bikes rather than "normal" bikes. I decided to stop by but unfortunately the first time I did they were closed when I got there. I blame OC traffic for that but I was undeterred and came back another day. Finally I had a chance to meet with Teddy, the owner. Ted is really a larger than life type personality. For some people that might be a bit over whelming as he is so enthusiastic about everything he does. It is obvious he has a passion for motorcycling as strong as I do. I explained that I don't live in the OC area but am working here and basically living out of a hotel for a while. So while I am very mechanically inclined, I have neither a place nor tools to work on my bike. I basically needed someone to do the work I'd normally do for myself but had neither the tools nor place to do it. Teddy took me around the shop and introduced me to his sidekick, Casey. Think Batman and Robin but shorter. Casey reminds me of myself at a that age. Anything with wheels, motors or wings was my passion. While Casey may not have the years that Teddy does in this business, it is obvious he shares his attention to detail and has been a very studious understudy. After a brief tour of the shop, I was sold and made an appointment to have my bike brought in to add some accessories. I knew exactly what I wanted and had procured my own accessories to be installed. Most bike shops would like to make a few extra bucks if they can sell you something, Teddy wasn't that way. Not to mention most of what I wanted to add wouldn't be found in a Tucker-Rocky catalog or Parts Unlimited. He can get you what you need but at the same time he is more than happy to work with what you bring. As mentioned by other users, they do more than just what you ask them to do. They look over things to make sure that your bike is safe and ridable. I had just bought this bike used from a local dealer and I was not impressed with the bike as I received it but had no way of correcting some of the things. Even though the dealer tacked on some crazy $400 fee for making sure all was good with it. It was obvious they never checked coolant levels, chain condition, etc. I am not going to quibble about that too much as I ultimately bought at a price I was willing to pay and was aware of most of the issues. Casey found a few more while going through the bike. It sure helps to be able to put the bike on a lift and work on it. What I can say is they have very good attention to detail. I had a big laundry list of items and not a lot of time to get them all done before a trip. I told them do what you can. I can bring it back another day but to focus on a few key items I needed for my trip such as lighting upgrades, better gearing, etc. This was for my sport touring bike. It seems like they are equally at home with these types of bikes as they are others. If you need high performance motor work as well, this is definitely the place to go. They do cylinder boring, porting, polishing, etc. Teddy worked for some very famous pro racers as their motor builder. If his work was good enough for them to have consistent podium finishes, then likely you'll be pleased with it as well. Of course you can't please all of the people all of the time. I am sure they'll be someone who isn't happy with something, some day. If you like someone who will take great care of you and treat you like a long lost friend, then definitely stop by Boyko Racing and see Teddy and Casey. If you are looking for some smooth talking shop that wants to sell you all kinds of services you might not need, then ride on by. Likely if they say you need something done, then you should listen to them. Teddy is a bit rough around the edges in a good sense. He isn't going to sugar coat much of anything. I am a stickler for details and normally do my own work. When I picked up my bike they had done almost everything exactly as I would have done it. I come from an aerospace background and any lack of attention to detail can kill you there. Same is true of a bike. All things were cable tied nicely, organized in a logically way and everything was done in a tidy manner. If I could give this shop 6 stars I would. This is not some fly-by-night operation that doesn't have insurance and has a high turnover of personnel. Basically it is a 2 man shop that eats, sleeps and breathes motorcycle. Then again there is no waiting room either. What you get with Boyko Racing is GREAT work, attention to detail and all at a reasonable price. I can't see any reason to go anywhere else. I looked at 4 or 5 different shops before I came here including M2 Motoworks, Cycledoctor, Riders Revelation and more, most with many more 5-star Yelp reviews than Boyko Racing. All of them either couldn't fit me in their schedule for a week or more, were very expensive, or didn't answer their phone or return my voicemail. Ted at Boyko Racing also had a busy schedule but said I could come by that afternoon and he'd fit me in. I have a 2006 Honda Shadow Spirit 750. I primarily needed a new set of tires installed that I had purchased previously, which Ted was charging much less for than anywhere else, but I also needed an oil change and some other stuff. They went above and beyond what I asked for, cleaning the whole bike from front to back and lubing the chain(which really needed some attention), steering column, joints, etc. My brakes are more sensitive now, steering is easier, I've noticed a big difference in the clutch and throttle performance, basically it feels like I'm riding a new bike. I'll be recommending Boyko Racing to everyone I know and they've earned my business for life. read more

Ok. So I'm getting back into motorcycles. I'm 44 years old and it's time to get back to the dirt! I was recommended Boyko Racing by a friend of mine. I needed fork seals done and they quoted me $125 for my Honda CRF450R. They charged me $150. No bother, I needed them done. After a desert race, I brought the bike back to have carb rebuilt and have the valves checked. The bike would hardly kick over. They had 2 weeks before my next trip. I picked up the bike and true to form they charged me more than quoted. Fine, I needed the work done. The bike never did start on my trip. I pouted for a week. Then I grabbed my tools to investigate. They said they went through the carb. I was told it was jetted with a 35. Never heard of that. Usually it's a 42, 45 or 48. I was told they put in a 42. Fine that's stock. But it was a 45 in there. So I rebuilt the carb. Now it starts rough. I was told that a new spark plug was put in. Wrong again. This one was rusted. Hmm? Any how, I'm glad this happened. Now I'm back into building bikes as well. Now my bike runs flawless. Bottom line, no stars. read more

When I pick up the parts, I didn't check, so I had to bring the crank back because the crank web was touching the con rod and also the piston was flapping due to too much clearance.
