I've known Teddy Boyko for many years, and was pretty stoked when he made the move after being the long-term service department manager at Mission Motorsports, to set up his own motorcycle / powersports service shop as Boyko Racing in Costa Mesa. While Teddy's been a factory race mechanic back in the day (and his legendary skills as a motor man / porting / polishing expert make him worthy of the Hall of Fame), he is set up with the skills, tools, machinery, and equipment to work on ANY kind of powersports vehicle in his shop. MX / Dirt / Off-Road, Street, Touring, ATV, Side x Sides, Adventure Bikes, Cruisers, Harley-Davidson - anything with a motor and a throttle are fair game, and Teddy can do the work. You know how great it is to find a great go-to local auto mechanic that can fix whatever is wrong with your vehicle, and give you the straight facts about what's wrong, what it needs, reasonable expectations of what it'll all cost, and how long it will take? Teddy is THAT GUY for your motorcycle and powersports needs. Casey is his assistant in the shop, and is very capable for doing the work on most everything that comes through the door - better than most of the mechanics at any local franchised dealership. And - while Boyko Racing happens to be conveniently local to me in Orange Country - they can also do engine work & repair via mail order / UPS from anywhere in the country. There aren't many places that you can trust to do the job right the first time with the "mission-critical" repair work. The hard stuff like doing new cylinder sleeves, porting, pistons / rings, carburetor cleaning and tuning, fixing electrical issues, wiring, all those things that are beyond the skills of your own capacity, or even those of other shops - will get done reliably, affordably, promptly, and efficiently at Boyko Racing. I own one of the lamest (and hardest-to-work-on) motorcycles that Honda has ever made - the PC 800 / Pacific Coast, a mid-size 800cc commuter / touring bike. The bike has had a number of problems during time I've owned it, and every time I've needed to have it fixed right - Boyko Racing was the place that got it done. I've taken it to local dealers a couple times, and inevitably whatever problems I had with the bike would continue shortly after I brought it back. I've had Boyko Racing completely rebuild the carburetors, rebuild the wire harness, replace the clutch, and even the normal stuff like installing new tires and batteries - all done there, done right. Save yourself the money, the time, the drama, the pain, and the suffering - just take your bike(s) to Boyko Racing the first time. You'll be a customer for life. I have been having one hell of a time finding the right guy to do the porting involved to install a Mossbarger reed assembly on my 1973 Honda Elsinore CR 250 . Come across a Racer X mag that must of been sent by the moto gods where I saw an ad for Boyko racing so I called and Casey answered the phone . I could tell right away by the conversation Casey had passion for his job and was very informative with the operation over there at Boyko Racing . Good impression and energy off the bat . Once I was ready to go there with my bike I then got to talk with Ted and inform him of what I am going to need done . He was like no problem dude . I was definitely hoping it was going to be no problem . Especially with that job . Well Ted and Casey did an exemplary job on my bike with an attention to details that most would overlook or be too lazy to perform them . Plus with all the porting , milling and polishing that had to be done with extra crap here and there like a clutch gasket leak the price was not unreasonable at all . That was a gnarly job with allot of tedious work involved . Teds porting work is a friggin art work and guys like him are becoming a lost breed these days . Blew my mind when he told me he use to work at DG . Just his experience with working there came in handy because he had to literally fix the DG head for my bike which he did . I was recommended to Ted and Casey at BOYKO racing through and old friend. My brothers dirt bike had been sitting in storage for over 10 years since his passing. Our family decided to get his Yamaha WR426F,ready to sell. I brought it to the shop and they were able to repair it like new. Casey even fabricated a part for the exhaust. He worked his butt off getting it ready and he detailed it for me as well! He is incredibly talented and knowledgeable. I know zero about motorcycles. Teddy and Casey definitely saved my bacon. I had rebuilt my gummed up carburetor and had some cylinder head/valve work done on my 2005 CRF250, fresh piston/rings, and try as I might I couldn't get the bike fired and running after triple checking timing, spark, valve clearances and I was starting to get disheartened. After putting things off for weeks, I finally emailed Boyko Racing. Teddy called me back shortly after I emailed him the issues I was having and helped put my mind at ease that they would take care of me and make sure they'd get the bike running ASAP. I brought the bike in Friday afternoon, I got a call Monday morning saying it's done! Super fair pricing, quick turnaround, honest no BS service--Ted and Casey hammered the job out quick and gave me some pointers on how to keep the bike running tip top. I wish I had gone to them for my headwork as since they perform all work at their facility and in-house they can crank things out quickly and do quality work as the two of them are definitely sticklers for doing things right the first time! Boyko has been a trustworthy name in the motorcycle industry for over half a century. I've been riding for years and have cycled through several motorcycles. Ted has worked on all 3 of my bikes and many of my company bikes. Ted and Casey are both great mechanics, there is nothing they can't fix or fabricate. I don't find myself on the side of the road often, that's because many of my issues are fixed before they even happen. Boyko Racing is safety conscious and it shows. I love how they explain every little detail about what my bike is doing, and in a way that I never feel spoken down to or belittled. And that's what I love about them, friendly, knowledgable, and trustworthy. I won't let just anybody work on my wife's motorcycle, it's a short list and Boyko Racing is right there at the top! On the recommendations of several friends who race vintage motocross, I spoke with Ted at Boyko Racing about porting the cylinder of my '77 CR125M Elsinore. I told Ted I was looking for more power down lower in the RPMs so the bike could pull harder out of the corners without abusing the clutch. He seemed very familiar with this engine and confident that he could deliver what I was looking for, so I sent the cylinder and head off to Boyko Racing. When I go the parts back the cylinder had been bored out and fitted for a new Wossner piston. The cylinder had also been ported and the combustion chamber in the cylinder head had been modified. The workmanship and detail stood out as being the work of a true craftsman. Once I got the engine back together and ran it through a couple heat-cool cycles I took the bike out for a test ride. The outcome far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Boyko Racing for their knowledge of vintage motocross bikes and I'll be sending them more business in the future. read more

Brought Teddy 2 top ends to work on with the expectation to only be able to re-use one of them do to the thrashing and overheating it had encountered. Not only did he get it back into working condition but it the bike sounds so much smoother than it did when it was brand new. Plus Teddy and Casey also took the extra time after hours to show me how to correctly install some of the vital engine parts that most of us commonly overlook when us average Joes rebuild an engine. Ive tried other mechanics before this, and its nice to finally find an honest mechanic who really cares about the customer and there toys. He understood the situation I was in and he came up with a plan that worked best for me. I'm new to Boyko racing I was referred by a guy from a bike shop. Needed to get my bike tuned and I called teddy he told me to bring my bike in and he would hook it up. Once I got there teddy greeted me. Hung around and talked with teddy he should me around the shop. He told me my bike would be ready Friday and it was done on time. Pick up my and chatted with teddy for a while I feel like family when I'm there. Teddy is one of the coolest guys you'll meet. Dropped my top end off and was just expecting a simple port, polish, and a little tune up. I was not expecting the amount of care and love that Ted put into my engine. Took my 1980 Yamaha YZ 125 to Boyko Racing with ignition problems and a broken shift shaft. Ted and Casey not only corrected those problems but went thru the rest of the motor and squared away a few other things that I wasn't aware of. The motor is tight and fixed right. I have found my guy for my vintage Yamaha needs, I have another engine that I will be dropping off for them to go thru it and make race ready.
