I was born in 1965 and so those of you in my generation know that we basked in the sun like raisins, never wore sunscreen, and SMOKED! I have soooo much sun damage, to include burning my face to almost 3rd degree level with blisters and hard-skin peeling! And I did this 3 times! I never wore sunscreen much less even moisturizer. When I entered my 40s, freckles and dark spots began to appear on my face and continued to worsen! NO ONE warned us anything back then about the sun!!! Around 2010, a co-worker referred me to Skinfuzion and I met the glorious Kim Hutchinson...Ahhhh....my Skin Whisperer!!! This lady/owner is lovely inside and out; her glowing beautiful skin is a testament to how good she is! Kim possesses an endless knowledge of skincare. She's impressive! And I know she stays updated with the latest skin technologies, because I ask her MANY questions during the treatments! Moreover, her salon is always stocked with the latest skincare products. Skinfuzion Treatments Reviews: IPL/Photofacial - 3 or 4 times per year.......2010 - 2015 * Holy smokes this laser works well! It breaks up, literally, the patches of brown spots around my t-zone and cheek areas. A couple of days after treatment, I would see brown "flakes" sloughing off of my face where the brown spots/patches were. It was a 5-year journey to finally get A Lot of the damage diminished if not removed altogether thanks to Kim. Well worth the journey and worth every penny! (I also stopped exposing my face to the sun, wore the requisite sunscreen, and STOPPED SMOKING!) IPL/Photofacial - 1 or 2 times per year.......2016 - Present * Maintenance to address sun damage flare-ups Microneedling - 2 or 3 times per year.......2013 - 2020 * This is a miracle worker! It helps with skin elasticity and a host of other benefits, but what I believe to be the most beneficial and noticeable outcomes is this: My skin takes on a better texture, it just feels softer, smoother, and tight, like I had a chemical peel. It is Microneedling on acid lol! It does everything Microneedling does, but with more intensity resulting in more noticeable improvements. The game changer for me was that Tixel was able to flatten sebaceous glands on my face!!! Only my dermatologist can do this and she has to use a laser that literally burns them on my face, leaving my red almost raw skin to heal from the burning. Tixel does not do that at all!!! It just flattens them and I was thoroughly IMPRESSED AND SOLD! * I asked my dermatologist about Tixel and she relayed, in part, "...that [Tixel] laser beats microneedling and just about any peels you do..." He removed too much cartilage causing this issue, she had to pursue an ENT specialist in LA who had to rebuild her nose entirely. The ENT doctor had to remove cartilage from her rib which she said was a long and painful process! The cost was an astronomical $126,000 In addition to what we had already paid Khorsandi but all of this could have been avoided if Khorsandi would have done his job correctly to begin with! When he found out our daughter was a bit of a local celebrity he went and looked her up online while she was under anesthesia, how creepy is that!! Not making any of this up he told her he looked her up on the next day. Khorsandi's lack of medical care as a professional all due to his ego! He showed total disregard for his patient due to negative feelings towards me. This proved how little he cared about his patient, medical oath or proper medical guidelines! I've debated for several weeks whether I should write this review but my conscience is telling me…read morethat I have to. First, I'd like to say that Dr.Hixson a very qualified physician and she is kind. People seem to love her and I can understand why. However, I don't think my particular situation was handled very well. You see, I went to Dr.Hixson for cosmetic services and she's fantastic. Great bedside manner and very knowledgeable. But at the end of 2024 and with the rise of the GLP1 weight loss medications, I asked her opinion and she said they're great..and as a matter fact, she provides the medication in her office from a compounding pharmacy. I was really excited to proceed with treatment because I absolutely trusted her. So, we begin and we titrate, meaning my body is introduced to the medication and we increase the dosage to a point that my body will respond to and suppress my appetite. Every 2 weeks, I tell her that I've felt nothing. So naturally, she increases my dosage (which I pay every time we increase the meds). We continue to do this up to 15mg, which is the max, in about 2 months..again, not a single side effect or any effectiveness. I was on the highest dosage and I felt nothing. Did not lose a single pound. I thought maybe I was a was part of the 10% or people that GLP1s might not work for. I was bummed. I decided to give it one more go with ANOTHER doctor and another pharmacy. I tell my new doctor that I'm currently on 15mg of GLP1s. He recommends that I start somewhere lower with the new meds. He recommends that I begin at 8-9mg instead of the 15mg that I was previously on. Hesitantly, I agree, even though I asked him to put me on 15mg as I was led to believe that I had titrated to 15mg. My new meds arrive and I use them as instructed-- let me tell ya, they worked immediately. They worked so well that I was SICK in bed for 3-4 days with severe nausea and constipation. I had clearly taken a dose that my body was not ready for. I told my new doctor and he recommends I lower the dosage again and I did. In 2 weeks I lost nearly 15lbs. It was like magic. I called Dr.Hixson to discuss what happened. I expressed my concerns that I had spent nearly $1800 on these meds that she prescribed to me that did NOTHING for me. And to make matters worse, I took a much lower dose of the medication with another doctor, and I was so sick. So one must ask, what was I given? GLP1 regardless of what is compounded with the medication is still GLP1 at the end of the day. That's the main component. Which leads to Dr.Hixson's response to me. I told her about the experience and she said that it was working for her other clients and I was an "outlier" since the meds were not working. Again, GLP1 is GLP1 regardless of what is compounded! Also my new pharmacy's compounded ingredient is vitamin b3, which I had already been taking orally (along with magnesium and zinc) while I was on Hixson's meds, as I've been told it could boost the effects. I asked her if she can speak to her rep to get me a partial refund or discount so that I can use on other services that she provides and she said "they're not going to go that". So awkwardly and uncomfortably, we end the call on that. Leaving me high and dry after paying for HER meds that come from HER practice. She basically shrugged it off, despite the fact that I said that I used another similar med at a dangerously high dosage because she led me to believe my body has had 15mg of GLP1 in my body resulting in me losing several work days. I'm a big guy, but I was knocked out. Throwing up every couple of hours, breaking out in cold sweat, in and out or sleep. Me and my husband really thought I had to go to the emergency room. I'm so disappointed in her response. While I understand that she didn't intentionally mislead me, after I told her that I was going to try a new pharmacy, she gave me no recommendations, suggestions, or support. Her assistant only called me a week after to confirm that I would not be using her meds anymore so that she didn't have any "order" more ineffective meds that she intended to sell me. I was so surprised by how cold and dismissive she was. I've spent a month debating whether or not to write this review but I am still in shock by my experience and by how I was treated. As a business owner myself--one that also involves science and the health of my customers, I would stand by the product my customer is paying for. If they're unsatisfied, I do whatever I can to make it right. In this instance, she did nothing of the sort.
