Bradley International Airport is hands down my fave airport to fly out of!Living in CT., it's so much more convenient than driving to the NYC airports for me. I don't have to deal w/ the stress of sitting in hours of traffic, expensive tolls, or navigating the chaos b4 my trip even begins. 1 of the biggest perks is how quick everything usually is. The security lines move fast,& I've rarely had to wait very long, which makes traveling so much less stressful. I also really like the newer renovations they've made the airport feel more modern, clean, & welcoming, w/plenty of dining & shopping options while waiting for a flight. The only downside is that ticket prices can sometimes be more expensive compared to flying out of the NYC airports. Even so, for me, the convenience, shorter drive, & overall smoother experience are well worth paying a little extra. Whenever I have the option(it can have fewer direct flights than NYC), Bradley is my 1st choice. It makes the start & end of every trip so much easier,& that's something I really appreciate! read more

As a New York native, I used to fly out of the NYC airports all the time. These days, I choose Bradley whenever I can because it's just so much easier. The drive is less stressful, traffic is usually much smoother than heading south toward New York, and I don't have to deal with the congestion that often comes with JFK or LaGuardia. The airport itself is clean, easy to navigate, and has a much more relaxed atmosphere. Getting through the terminal feels straightforward, and I appreciate that everything is conveniently laid out. There are places to grab a bite or a coffee while you wait, and overall it makes traveling feel a lot less hectic. While I'd love to see even more nonstop flight options, the convenience alone keeps me coming back. Bradley is definitely worth considering over the larger airports. read more

The airport is more regional than it is bigger and pretty easy to go through security and honestly, it took about the same time whether you had TSA pre-or not. Good amount of food places you could eat and also places you could buy concessions and water and chips and snack snacks Definitely a convenient airport to fly into if you're gonna be visiting UConn. Welcome to Connecticut! This airport was pretty small. It's easy to navigate and if I had one thing to make you aware of , the bathrooms only have 3 stalls. That's wild considering most people go straight to the toilet after exiting planes. They need more toilets . Luckily , I was on a later flight so I didn't have to wait. But if I had, I would have been pissed. The bags came out pretty quick once I made it to the luggage claim so they move pretty fast. read more

I live in RI and have flown in/out of Bradley a few times. Although the milage is further from my home is further than Logan, it's a much easier trip as there is less traffic, and the airport experience is more pleasant than Logan while having comparable (or better) prices for the routes I've taken. I've never had a long line through security at Logan, and the employees are polite and friendly - they seem less harried than at larger airports. The restrooms are nice, with large enough stalls to comfortably take your luggage in with you and doors that go from floor to ceiling. There are water bottle filling stations in multiple places. Food options are plentiful with restaurants at a variety of price points and there are book stores, snack shops and gift shops as well. Some of the gates are small and don't have enough seating, and it would be nice to have more charging stations for cell phones and electronics at each gate. However, the seats are comfortable and the airport is pretty clean. Parking is great - much cheaper than Logan. On school vacation weeks, I've parked in Lot 5 for just $35 for the entire week. Definitely a solid choice in Airports. read more

We've come through this airport multiple times now and it's been decent each time. Today the security checkpoint officer surprised me by smiling and asking how my day was so far. It's a well known customer service tenet that greeting people in a friendly manner makes them feel welcomed and calm. I guess I'm used to the TSA officers who are stony faced and robotic but efficient. Anyway, BDL got an extra star just because I was pleasantly surprised today. I was impressed with this airport. First time flying here and this was an easy in and out for travelers. Terminals were clean, bright and signage was clear. I rented a car and both getting to and from rental area was simple. Security was a breeze with a dedicated TSA pre-check line. Originally a military airbase, Bradley International Airport (named after Eugene Bradley, an Army pilot killed while training) began commercial operations in 1952, continuing to the present time, becoming the 2nd second busiest airport in New England. My wife and I had the opportunity to use it as our departure airport for our trip back to California. We found it to be much bigger than a conventional regional airport, with all major domestic airlines servicing it along with a couple international airlines as well. Continuing renovations/improvements have occurred since its opening, including: Opening of a new international terminal (B) in 2002 and ground transportation center opening in 2022 (eliminating rental car shuttles by moving rental car outlets onto the airport itself). In reality, Terminal B has just one gate and is used only for arriving international flights. Our morning flight was on Delta to Atlanta, and gave ourselves plenty of time by arriving early at the airport. Rental car return was super easy and quick (due to the aforementioned consolidated rental car outlet and sky bridge to the terminal). Security entrance is in two spots, on opposite sides of the terminal: one for Precheck (checkpoint 2) and the other for normal. We got through security in under 5 minutes. There is one (temporary) lounge at the airport, associated with Priority Pass. Open restaurants included McDonald's, Starbucks, and of course Dunkin. The airport has free dependable WiFi. The airport can handle any size airplanes including the Airbus 380 (the biggest airliner ever built). We took a much smaller Airbus to ATL (the A321), with my wife getting upgraded to First Class for the 2 hour flight, with no incidents. More Info: Terminal A is divided into two concourses: East (Gates 1 - 12) and West (18 - 30). A variety of airlines service it, including the Big Three of Delta, United, and American. Delta flies directly to three of its main hubs in Atlanta, Detroit, and Minneapolis. It is considered international because it services Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Ireland (via Aer Lingus), Bermuda, and Mexico. Boston Logan is 2 hours away by car (110 miles), JFK 3 hours (131 miles). The main city it services is Hartford, which is home to the state capital and flagship university. Been here a few times as i hae been using frontier. Frontier flies to more locations from here when compared to Albany Airport thats the closest to where i live. Security check process has been very efficient. Has a lounge thats pretty good. Airport premises is clean and well maintained. Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Conduct by TSA Officer at Bradley International Airport To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the treatment my family received from a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officer at Bradley International Airport on [date of travel]. My husband accompanied our minor child to the airport and had obtained a valid gate pass so he could remain with our child until boarding. Despite presenting the gate pass, the TSA officer refused to accept it and denied him access beyond the security checkpoint. The officer's handling of the situation was dismissive and unprofessional, and she did not provide a reasonable explanation for refusing to honor the gate pass. This unnecessary action caused significant stress and anxiety for our minor child, who was expecting to have a parent present until boarding. Gate passes exist for situations such as assisting minors, and the refusal to recognize a valid pass defeated that purpose. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism, compassion, and customer service displayed by the TSA officer. Travelers, especially families with children, deserve to be treated with respect and provided with clear explanations when issues arise. I have contacted BDL and await a response, as I requested a written response and what action was taken after the review (as we know cameras are available for review). It's located between Hartford and Springfield, which makes it a central location for these major cities. We flew out of there recently and had a good experience; a direct flight to Florida. There is a long-term parking lot and shuttle nearby. Everything was easy to find and the TSA line was short and quick. There were plenty of places to get food, convenience stores, and coffee shops. I also like that they had a family restroom. Overall, it's a nice airport, not too busy, and well run. read more

I was here just last year and it's as nice as ever as a smaller regional airport, though it's certainly growing and ever remodeling.I was just here last year and though I see my pix on Yelp, I can't seem to find my reviews. I did find my first review from over a decade ago. It certainly has changed a lot since then. It has very efficient and uncomplicated security on a summer Monday morning. Every single staff member has been courteous and right in task. The floors and seating areas are very clean and bright. There is a small collection of locally based eateries as well as a few chains often found in airports. We got every thing we needed and very easily though, of course , at typical airport pricing. Even the music has been generalized to a mix of popular singers' recordings, like Adele. Nothing overpowering or distracting from the standard announcements for passengers for departing flights. I'd be happy to use this again for New England visits, big enough to have a nonstop option from our home airport and many places we can drive to with a rental car in the future, as we did last year. This year it was easier for our hosts to pick us up for this one stop trip. read more

BDL is easy access off I 91 and is very straightforward getting around. I have to get to southern VT mountains to visit my grands and will only fly in here during winter months. They have several food and drinks options for a smaller airport. This First Class Deli is always fresh, although a bit $$. I just kissed the reopening if the Escaoe Lounge by a couple days. We've only flown out a few times out of this airport and have never had any problems. All I know is it's super easy and Breeze flies out of here! My favorite part is the long term parking options they have at a fraction of the price that any other airports have. Staring at $7/day you can literally just leave your car there at the long term parking lots and get away for a long weekend without having to bother anyone to come drop you off or pick you up and end up spending way more than you wanted to. It's super convenient, they have the free shuttles driving around that take you to and from the airport and it's so easy. Love how hassle free this airport is and driving here is a lot easier than driving to NYC minus the traffic and the tolls. read more

The security line is short enough to make you suspicious and the food options are surprisingly acceptable. Now, I think it's a little ambitious to call this an international airport. I think this is a regional airport at best. They must have one flight to Canada. We need to do a better job labeling an International Airport. Not my first time flying out of BDL or on Breeze Airways! We are heading to South Carolina for a week! Gonna enjoy a week away from colder weather and celebrate my birthday while there (which is in a few days).. BDL is a great airport and Breeze Airways is incredible low fare airline. Getting through security wasn't difficult - we had the help from 2 truly amazing TSA agents named Belinda and Alan. Two individuals with invisible disabilities traveling alone is something we're used to and enjoy. The layout of BDL is easy to navigate. Nothing compared to JFK - size wise and all. Less terminals! To me, BDL is one of the best gateways of travel - as it's easy to get to. Breeze Airways flight 558 pushes back at 5:58 PM. What are the odds of departure time and flight number!? Plane takes off at 6:03 PM and we land at our destination at 7:39 PM. A 1 hr, 36 min flight is nothing IMO (meaning quick)! BDL, you NEVER disappoint! read more

Finally, we arrive at Bradley. This has been my home airport whenever I have been a Connecticut resident. The only airport I think I may have visited as many times is Tampa's airport when I used to live in Florida, and that airport I have not been to in over a decade. We still pick up people visiting from Tampa at this airport if family comes on by. Bradley is not a big airport, but it's not so small that there is only one restaurant like you have over in Johnson City, TN. You have a few options, and there's plenty of gates at the terminal. Again, not a huge terminal, but not too small either. You can actually fit an airplane compatible with any height here. TSA has never been a problem for me in Bradley, and Baggage Claim tends to be pretty simple too. It's a great airport for Connecticut. Actually, even when I had missed check-in once, I was able to work with one of the check-in people to get me a flight that still got me to the same destination on the same day. There isn't much to do here, but it's a fine place to wait for your flight once you've checked in. My only gripe with Bradley is something I had mentioned in a review I recently did on Chipotle: trash cans are overflowing without fail at some gates. It's not a good place to be if you are a true germaphobe. If you can get past though, then you will be fine here. read more

This is a much bigger airport than I would have expected given the area. It's got a large Sheraton attached to it. The terminals are decent size too. TSA check-in was a pain though. When I walked up to the first one I saw (on the left) it had an arrow pointing to the right indicating PreCheck was down to the right, so I walked down to the end of those check-in counters and that TSA staff told me PreCheck was where I had just come from. But I wasn't walking back at that point and I just used standard (for the first time in 5+ years). The liecos body scanner was clearly not working properly, it indicated something in my right ankle so the guy told me to take my shoes off and put them through the scanner separately. Another lady got in front of me while I was doing this and she alerted on the same thing (that's a clue, TSA... hard to believe the same thing would happed to 2 people in a row!). I went though again and it did the same thing again. He patted me down, found nothing and I was on my way. Still, an inconvenient pain in the azz to deal with. The rest of the airport experience was somewhat decent. Not a bad airport overall. read more

Wow does this airport SUCK! These people honestly have NO idea what they're doing. They make sure to start their first flights of the day an hour to two hours late, just to really set the tone and kick off a beautiful, cascading delay apocalypse. Nothing like waking up early for a morning flight only to be punished for your optimism. The staff wanders around like they're also surprised a plane is involved. No updates, no explanations..just vague announcements that somehow say absolutely nothing. It's like a social experiment to see how long adults can be kept in the dark before they lose the will to live. Gate changes? Of course. Boarding times? A suggestion, apparently. Actual boarding? A myth. Everyone just stands around staring at the screen like it's going to apologize and fix itself. Truly impressive how a company that does this every single day still seems shocked that flights need crews, planes, and, wild concept.. on-time departures. If chaos were a sport, this place would have season tickets. If you enjoy delays, confusion, and feeling personally disrespected before 6AM, congratulations.. this is your Disneyland. For everyone else, pack snacks, patience, and the acceptance that time is merely a suggestion here. read more

Nothing better than getting to airport early just to stand around with everyone else for 45 minutes waiting for employees to clock in and start their shift. Ridiculous. We flew into Hartford's airport for this past Fourth of July weekend. Our flight got in around 9pm, which is after a lot of things in the airport have closed. It's a small airport, with just a few shops and cafes. So if you have a very early or late arrival or departure, there not be much to do. But it was a convenient enough place to fly into (we were heading to Mystic the following morning) - small, easy to maneuver, able to walk to the car rental desk. Bradley International Airport is one of the best small airports I've traveled through! I've only had great experiences with the staff who all have been friendly and efficient. Going through security was a breeze, they get you through there efficiently and there are less lines since it's a smaller airport. And I was pleasantly surprised by how many great food options there were here! They have your staples like Starbucks, Mcdonalds, Hudson News, but also a few restaurants. Their only international destination is Dublin, but that must be so much easier flying through this airport as opposed to JFK or Laguardia. There is plenty of seating at all of the gates. This is a decent sized airport, but their TSA lines were a disaster. Even with Clear, the line was like a 20 minute wait. And this was at 5am on a Thursday. I thought with a smaller airport, I'd breeze right through security but nope! The rental car area is also a good hike from the terminal. And it's uphill too! But you know what, it was downhill after returning the vehicle. It's amazing how gravity works! I wasn't overly impressed with this airport. They have a fair amount of places to eat, as well as an airport lounge that we were able to utilize that was a nice break from the hustle of the airport. This is not a huge airport. The TSA precheck line is by itself at the far side of terminal with clear and the regular line in the middle of the terminal. There are several restaurants and shops to check out while you wait to depart. The ride share pickup is outside of the baggage claim in the 2nd line with rental car pickup. read more

The Airport has an American Express Lounge called the "Escape Lounge" located in Concourse A. The name made me think "Escape Room" (lol), but it's a decent size and very relaxing if you have time to grab a bite/drink before boarding your flight.
