OK for minor issues; it is not OK to lance cellulitis (vs. a stye).

From the moment I walked in, their tone was cold, dismissive, and at times outright rude. Simple questions were met with visible annoyance, and there was little to no effort to be helpful or even polite. It made an already stressful situation feel even more uncomfortable. That said, once I got past the front desk, my experience completely changed. The PA and the technician in the back were absolutely wonderful--kind, friendly, and professional. They took the time to listen, made me feel at ease, and provided great care. It's unfortunate that the first point of contact left such a negative impression, because the clinical staff truly deserve recognition for the positive experience they provide. I hope management takes a closer look at the front desk experience, because it doesn't reflect the level of care happening behind the scenes.

Waited 25 minutes past appointment time even though I arrived early. I was scheduled with a PA to remove a mole and melia. The PA was courteous. She examined the mole and reassured me it did not show signs of concern. She then recommended that I see a plastic surgeon for the mole removal. For the melia, she explained the procedure and informed me of the potential side effects. Given the information I was provided, I took her recommendation to see a plastic surgeon. I paid $80. Unaware at this time how much insurance will pay or if I'll receive a follow-up bill. Ridiculous that doctors still charge when no service is provided. I reached out to friends, who previously had a mole or melia removed, for their plastic surgeon recommendations. They all came back saying their dermatologist removed their melia or mole, and they didn't see a plastic surgeon. I reached out to my friend, who is a retired internist. He thought a dermatologist should've been able to handle this. I could go to a second dermatologist but annoyed that I'll need to take time off of work again. I understand that I don't present with an exciting case, but I shouldn't have to hop around for a mole and melia removal. And I really find it distasteful that I was still charged and insurance billed even though no service was provided.

As a woman, I hate growing facial hair. The doctor told me I had nothing to worry about. If I put oil on my hairline and it resolves...easy peasy. And she compared my facial hair to hers saying, "see, I grow facial hair too, I just pluck them." I knew she didn't believe me. Well, I got a second opinion. I went to Dr. Bembry! Dr. Bembry actually EXAMINED my scalp. Oh, did I tell you the last dermatologist didn't actually examine my scalp. Dr. Bembry actually examined my entire scalp, not only in my trouble spots. She did two biopsies because she seen the obvious! My scalp needs help! I haven't received the results yet, but I'm so happy Dr. Bembry is doing her due diligence to get to the root of the problem and she actually believed me and wants to help!

Frankly, I'd been procrastinating and trying home remedies for years to eliminate or reduce them and I just wasn't comfortable until very recently seeking professional help. I was also concerned about cost and whether insurance would cover it. Luçkily, that wasn't a problem for her so there was no out-of-pocket or other obstacle preventing me from undergoing the process. Had a conversation with Dr. Nelson two weeks ago who assured me the process would be quick and relatively painless. Her staff is professional and the whole process was efficient - and dare I say - very releaving. No sooner was I on the operating table that the first larger boba ball skin tag was snipped off after a tiny prick of anesthesia. I smelled a bit of burning because she cauterized the wound with some kind of directed flame/heat to stop the bleeding. I smelled that distinct smell of hair being perm'd or "cooked" in hair salons I've smelled from time to time over my lifetime lol... Only it was me being roasted this time. She does apply ointment immediately thereafter to the calm the stinging and dress the wound. She then moved on to smaller tag over my right eye. Same process. Very easy. I've had these tags and moles my whole life since they seem to be hereditary. Felt like old friends were missing, but like those ones that come and stay with you for a few days and you are glad when they finally leave though. Several days in and both are healing nicely. I'm so pleased with the work that I'm going back this week to get all the rest removed. Wished I'd done this years ago.

I told them that I didn't think that was an appropriate way to treat new patients and I would not be able to trust a provider who behaves that way. I then left and informed them I would not be anticipating any charges for the appointment. Dr. Nelson then wrote me a 2000+ word email rant, lecturing me about all kinds of things that not relevant to my situation whatsoever. She implied that I shouldn't care if she's late, because she might be too busy delivering terminal cancer diagnoses to other patients. There are many legitimate reasons for being late, getting stuck in traffic is not one of them. Here is the exchange in full: https://i.imgur.com/wA1mxk3.png Is this a doctor you would trust? This is not a healer. This is a predator. And this is embarrassing. I did not justify it with any further reply.

I thought my consultation would be at least 30 minutes but I left my appointment in under 20 minutes. The dermatologist recommended two solutions to solving my skin concerns, both of which are blocked behind a paywall (ie. pills or a topical cream). When I asked about other solutions that were a bit more budget friendly or that didn't need a prescription I was met with the kind of attitude along the lines of "It's either these two options or not. Nothing else will work as effectively." Even if that's the case I felt like I wasn't being listened to and all my other comments or questions were immediately shut down because the dermatologist was adamant about his words over mine. Needless to say, I feel like the appointment was a waste of time after being told information that could've been concluded from a Google search. Bottom line, if you want to save your time and money while actually being listened to, I'd suggested looking elsewhere.
