It was SO busy, and they were so kind and did a great job. Great stop while you're shopping at Lloyd!

So I decided to pop in because my husband loves carrot cake and I heard their was the best in town. And being the week before Easter I had high hopes. I was sadly disappointed. I walked in the a very sparce bakery case. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since it was Monday afternoon and they may have been still baking for the week. They had some cookies and brownies and about 6 very small carrot cake muffins.small meaning the size you would bake at home, not the larger bakery style. They did look pretty cute but was shocked at the price. I paid over $9 for two small cupcakes, I thought, these better be amazing. I took them home, my husband gave an 'eh, not the best carrot cake I have ever had' review. I had to try for myself. There was no spice or really any other flavor , just straight up carrot. It was moist and he loved the frosting but that was it. I love to support a small business and don't mind paying a bit more if the product is good. But that was not the case. I will wait and try again, but from talking to a friend who used to frequent this shop , she agrees that the are not what they used to be .

I love finding new businesses in surprising locations, especially coffee shops. Y'all know l can't…read morelive without my daily infusion of caffeine! Mission Cafe is a diamond in the rough; a gem of a coffee shop recently opened in the Five Corners area of Vancouver. It's nestled in between a daycare and a church in a strip mall... a little incognito as they've yet to put up signage. The interior of the coffee shop is bright and spacious, and smells absolutely wonderful! They brew their coffee with beans locally roasted by K&F Coffee Roasters, the oldest family run specialty roaster in the area. Mission's dedication to excellence shows in the delicious drinks they serve. As the coffee shop is located near a client, I've been fortunate to stop in several times. Even on the rainiest of days, it's all sunshine and smiles in this place. The manager, Jen, is one of the nicest people I've ever met. She's made me a few of her daily specials, and always has suggestions for trying new drinks. Word is they'll be expanding their food menu, but at the moment they offer granola bars, delicious muffin tops, as well as bagels with cream cheese. I love supporting locally-owned businesses, and I encourage others to do the same. Places like Mission Cafe represent the love, passion and creativity of entrepreneurs wanting to make a difference in their communities. So stop by, have a cup of coffee, and feel good doing it!
