It's not a hit piece only the truth in my opinion from a disabled veteran. Brake Check in Harker Height and Central Texas...They choose who they will scam by the color of their skin. I love everyone equally. NTB's black manager did the same to me a year earlier. They broke my car when I brought it in for a wheel alignment. They pulled it into the bay and then called me to tell me it wouldn't start. I had just had my ignition system battery alternator water pump and a general inspection completed at a European car shop that I trust. They could not identify how they broke my starter but under those conditions a warranty is voided so I have it int the shop as of 17 July 2022. I looked like I had a job, being a black man the smile white manager chose to f$$& me over. I had just help a stranded white lady change a tire. She was to weak to break the lugs and had been on the side of the highway for 30 minutes with no one stopping to help her obviously she had no one else. Then this happens. I had just got my car out of the shop. There are still people that are good. I do have a job and took my car out of there to my repair shop. I told the other customers not to worry they won't break two cars back to back...It's to suspicious. They were under my car where the starter is but had to damage my under body engine cover to get to it. Why were they in my engine compartment? They then made up an exscuse when I asked them that they had to disengage the engine so it could go into neutral. An old white guy that was watching them told me that's how they make their money. So, they identified me as a n&@ with money that they were going to Jim Crow. NTB did the same thing as well breaking 8 of my control arms. I had that repaired at my auto body shop and the asked me what did you hit...once again my extended warranty did not cover it since they told them it was deliberate. Management, none of your worker would tell me what happen but their body language did so Don't take out any retribution on the young black men. They refused to talk since they feared you (violent nature towards them in-my opinion). It makes me not want to use a shops without a diverse work force at all levels. You may not be their next victim but I am 100% identified because I work and am black in my opinion by NTB and Just Brakes. I drive a well kept older BMW so they know it cost to keep it running I just like the body style. I am a disabled veteran...I would still fight for their freedom again...to ply their thieving trade. The will of the people will drive them out of business. You cannot choose who you fight for that's...that's the first step to oppression of the people under the pretense of justice. read more

I'm new to the area and I pulled up to the garage like I'm used to and they just stared at me for 10 minutes and finally I had to get out and ask whether do I do and they said oh you go to the front. I have been bringing all of my vehicles and my kids vehicles here for a few years because of the prices and the quality work . These last two days haven't been good and I will no longer be bringing my vehicles here any longer. The staff has changed many times over the years but the quality of work hasn't until now. Too much to type but the bottom line, the lack of communication and honesty needs to improve significantly. There have been great teams and leadership here in the past and just when I get use to seeing familiar faces then there's new faces. So I went here yesterday . I was given a quote . It was very busy and I made an appointment for today at 1000. Johnathan ordered the part . When I arrived today , I told the man I was here for a 10 an appointment and asked how long it would be ? He said 45 min to a hour for the repair but he doesn't know how long it will be .I told him that was the purpose of me and Johnathan making the appointment . I wanted to coordinate it so I could spend more time with my grandkids . He said to me I'm not Johnathan. I don't know what he told you ! In front of several people . I went to this shop to follow up on some brake pads that I was told was available for my car. I went in on a Sunday and he say he was the manager was walking out to check in another vehicle, he asked if he could help me, I said i was coming in to see the options for my vehicle as far as brake pads, he blew me off saying there were no options. I explain to him that i had previously call some time before and was told it was and I asked him was he going to at least look it up, then his story changed oh yes i can but i am very busy, so at that point i left. I did a complaint online and was asked to call the number in San Antonio and I did, the gentleman said all the right things and told me I would be contacted by Jonathan, that never happened, so they talk a good game but don't follow up. So about $200 plus tax. Went to breakfast, get a call and they want $1050 to replace all rotors pads and hardware! No Thanks! It used to be where this type of thing happened to unsuspecting women by greedy salesmen! I brought it to these guys to same some of my time only! Went to O'reilly's, got rear pads for later($52), ordered front pads ($59) and turned both front rotors ($50) Under $200 out the door. Don't trust the profit mongering sales people here! read more

Told me my drum brakes were completely down to metal...I don't even have drums. Right then and there I knew i wasn't gonna get the work done. They also offer a one oil change the next one half off which is really nice I only ended up paying half price for my last oil change. I'm a experience mechanic, who was too lazy to replace my brake pads. First, they try to up sell you on everything, rotors etc. Note: never get new rotors unless they been turned at least once before. Second, the kid started to hammer the caliber back on. I had to explain how to drop it in. Third, for having lifts and all the tools needed for the job, it still took two hours. Forth: it costed me $165 for pads/labor. PS: I watched while they up sell everyone, even people obviously afford the prices they were pushing. They even offered financing. Shame. read more

I came in to have my brakes inspected. They completely removed them parts that they said were "the problem" without consulting me first as if I was prepared to have it repaired immediately. At the time I couldn't get the repair done so I got my car towed home. Upon arrival at my residence I tried to roll up my power windows but couldn't because I couldn't get the car to start. I call back to the shop to see what happened. All I was told was "maybe the battery is dead", "if your battery was weak when you brought it in it might be dead", "maybe it died on the tow truck". I explained that my battery was not weak not dead when I brought my vehicle to them, & I didn't live far enough away for my battery to have died whether it was completely on or idling. It's a 4 minute drive. The representative that answered said it wasn't their fault. He explained that they don't provide any battery services so they had no reason to mess with the battery. But it doesn't add up. You pulled my car into the service bay without my battery giving you a problem. After which you claim the car was turned off while you performed the brake inspection (which btw wasn't supposed to include you removing parts). In your words the inspection was you raising the car up on the Jack, taking the tires off, and looking at the brake system. Then when the tow truck arrived your technicians pushed the car out of the service bay. In order to push it out you would need to turn the car on & put it in neutral. The tow truck driver left it in neutral for the 4 minute drive to my house. You're trying to tell me that it took 10 minutes off idling for my battery to die? When my car will automatically shut itself off to save battery life if idling or completely on for too long without movement. Now my engine won't start & no power is flowing thru my vehicle at all but there are dashboard lights that are lit up. They messed with my car & trying to say they didn't. Lack of accountability & overpricing will keep me from ever going back to that place (at any location)!! read more

These guys were so great! They are quick, efficient, methodical and take time to explain the why behind their recommendations. I went in there for a simple oil change, and was informed I required new rack and pinions for my power steering. I had a significant leak that the GMC dealership had said was minor and required no attention. Obviously I was very upset, but Obie and his coworkers took the time to show me where the affected parts were, and even drew me a diagram to explain how the power steering on my truck worked and what would happen if I delayed repairs any longer. He also quoted a fair price significantly below what the dealership had previously quoted to my husband. They ordered the parts, and my truck was fixed the next day. I took my car to this brake check around a week ago. The first man I interacted with was very weird & lack of a better words super creepy. I just went for an alignment & the man was treating me like a child & asking me questions about my car as if he thought I didn't know my stuff. I made an appointment that day for 4PM & didn't get my car pulled into the shop until 5PM, finally around 6PM the kid test drove my car & completely disregarded my request for them not to go through the dip due to my car being lowered. He was gone for about 10 mins & took my car a completely different way then they normally test cars. When he got back I paid the $100 for the 3 year alignment plan & I was on my way. The car still felt as it did before the alignment so I took it back a week later. This time a guy named Leo worked on my car to tell me the issue. He proceeded to tell me my aftermarket parts were shot & how to commit INSURANCE FRAUD to get the money for the new parts. After leaving this time my car was literally WOBBLING. I took it back today & spoke to the manager about my concerns, I told him about his employee telling me to commit insurance fraud & he laughed. He refused to give my a refund & jacked my car up to show me the tires not "being even" & that was that. I went to TIRES TO YOU in killeen & they got me right the first time with no problems & super friendly staff. I needed a quick tire change before the shop officially opened due to a tire with a nail. The manager went the extra mile this morning to put my spare tire on for me before his technicians came in for work. I rushed off to take my son to school while he checked the tire. Upon my return to the shop, he told me the requirement (plug, patch, or new tire) and had the tire guys next door verify the requirement to get a new tire. Horrible experience. 1. Overcharged me. I had the lifetime Alignment deal. Went in for my brakes and an alignment. Charged me for the alignment. 2. Had an appointment for 1 pm. My car didn't leave the parking lot until almost 2 pm. Why have appointments/schedule times if they don't matter? 3. Saw them drive my car into the parking lot (signaling it was done). I waited in the lobby (was writing a research paper for school, so I didn't mind waiting). Nobody told me my car was ready. I waited until finishing my paper - 45 minutes - and then went to the counter and asked if my car was ready. Typically you let the person know. 4. OH MY GOSH. They had a cartoon playing the entire time which was R-rated. Several swear words. I'm not talking "d*mn" or "hell" but sh*t and bullsh*t and God-d*mn, bastard......constantly. There was a couple in the waiting room with a child (maybe 6 or 7 years old) who finally got sick of the language and left. How does a nationwide business play a shows that have r-rated language in their waiting area? I suppose this is the place to go if you can't afford top level service. I came in on Friday because my brakes were squealing and making bad noises. My brakes were in bad shape, these guys got me back on the road with new brakes. I started hearing a grinding noise the following Monday morning but could not make it back in until Tuesday found out that it was a bearing that was going out. Took my vehicle to get an oil change, nothing crazy, I should've known something was up when it took forever and I was the only vehicle that was getting an oil change done. After the oil change was finished I jumped in my vehicle about to drive off when I noticed the check engine light was on so I turned around and told them it was on, after watching the guy try to clear it by using google he hooked it up to the computer and said it was my mass air flow sensor and that they have nothing to do with it. So being pressed by time I had to leave, once I got home and looked everything up and going to autozone, I finally opened my hood to find that someone disconnected my mass air flow sensor, after 45 minutes of cursing and googling I finally disassembled and reassembled everything with the sensor reconnected. After going through fixing it, it's clear they went through and took it apart to disconnect it seeing how nothing was wrong before taking it to them. They told me to take it to the dealership to find out what's wrong and take it back to them so they can fix it for me, at a price I assume. read more

I had 2 ... so I go back to do my third and tell them that I am not sure if I received the coupon book back last time and that I could not find it ... they look me up in the system...it says I bought the deal...it says I used 2 ... and that I have 2 left ... same VIN etc... My daughter and I came for the free brake check. Her brakes were in need of replacing. First, make an appointment, that gives you 10 percent off. Herb was very nice but wanted to do alot of work not necessary IMO. New clips to hold the brakes were over $60. Not buying that one. Also resurfacing all rotars when they were smooth and had no grooves. I liked that I was walked around my car and shown pad amount with flash light and each service had an itemized cost that I could accept or reject. Yes some things may be suggested but if you have any experience with brakes, you can see and make better choices. Glad I came here. Terrible customer service. I orginally, had my front brake pads replaced and caliper maintenace on 14 Dec 2021. Almost imidently my brakes began to squeek. I didnt think much of it at first. I took my car into my dealer approx a month ago and was asked about my brakes. I was told at that time my master cylinder cap was missing. The tech forgot to put it back on. The dealer helped me out with a used on costing me $10.00. I should of gone back to Brake Check at the time. I made an appointment for 5:30pm on 4 April for a brake inspection. I did get there approx 5-8 mins late. As I walked in a not so happy looking, I assume manager was at the desk. I explained to him the issues. He than said "you realize we close at 6?" I stated I did and there as an opening at 5:30pm and took that one because I work in Austin. He then pulled up my account and starting stating well I gave you a discount for this and that..blah, blah. I asked him what does that have to do with my brake issue? I was then told that to make the issue go away I'd have to pay more even though my current pads and repair are under warranty. I asked him to look at my brakes and he stated he could get me in tomarrow moring. I again explained to him that I work in Austin. I was then told well you could have gone to an Austin loction. The service manager has no customer service skills. Never once did he say he was sorry or hey lets see what we can figure out. He was rude from the start and no intention of resolving my brake issues. The manager should not interact with the public or be in customer service. I have done business where before and have seen the same "manager" not handle customers well. It is obvious that the "manager" recived the position by tag your it. He lacks empathy and and training. I would love to talk to a regional manager or someone higher in the food chain. I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB. I hope that someone other than that manager reads this. Was referred there by discount tire (their neighbor) because DT really screwed my alignment up when I had the tires rotated. My alignment was fine before. Brake check got me for $300 and made the alignment way worse. When I left there the steering wheel was way off centered with the car pulling to the left real bad! Took it back and they showed me on paper where it was aligned. They do not know what they are doing when it comes to alignments! Took to NTB and they aligned it for free. The staff were very professional and they do a computer check on your car which is good, so you know what needs to be fix. The service adviser, Ricardo did a good job of explaining just what I needed to be on my way. He explained the lifetime warranty, which is a plus especially considering Ford only gives a two year warranty. And they saved me over $200, based on what I paid them and what Ford wanted me to pay. I was in and out within 2 hours, with all Four rotors turned, and new shoes all around. I recommend this business to anyone needing work at a reasonable price, from people that know what they are doing. But, I am still not completely sold on them since I read some information about them using substandard break pads. One final point, this is national company, and they do not give Veteran or active duty discounts. Shame on them. 2010, F 150, 39,000 miles. (Yea Ford rotors do not hold up at all.) BEWARE!! I went in there to get oil changed I almost left there paying 2000.00 dollars to a miss diagnosed issue they thought my van needed head gasket job . Well thank goodness for second opinion we took our van to different establishment and found out that my van needed a new radiator a 500.00 tab . I was so re leaved that was all it needed so please be careful . The price was right for wheel bearing replacement, especially after the 20% online booking discount. Next time I would leave the car there and come back at the end of the day since that's a time-consuming procedure and they were pretty busy. A one-hour quoted time estimate resulted in a 9:30 am to 2:50 pm wait, a delay that was caused by excessive rust on my vehicle. Since I have a Toyota, there also was some confusion about diagnostic codes. After the work was complete, the ABS system didn't function until the codes were reset. I returned the following day. The staff were respectful even when I was angry about the code issue. They figured it out, though, and in the end the work was done for a fair price. read more
