I came in to get new rear brake pads and they were quick and courteous and didn't try to upsell me anything. A month earlier I had gotten an oil change and full car inspection at Sun Auto which said that my rear brake pads were at 3mm and my fronts were at 7mm. After the brake inspection and pad replacement, the guys at Brake Masters physically showed me the part and the pads were paper thin, he said about 10% which is less than 2mm. The fronts were at 3mm. That's quite a big discrepancy from 3mm and 7mm that the other place told me. The front desk guy asked who told me they were at 3 and 7 and I told him Sun Auto and he said, "That makes sense. We've been getting several complaints about them." So from now on I'm going here instead for regular maintenance things like oil changes and brake pads. I need to come back soon to get my fronts done. read more

I had my pads and rotors replaced on all four wheels. A few days later I was driving the car from Las Vegas to Los Angeles when suddenly my ABS warning lights started flashing. Then the brakes started to lock up. Fortunately for me this happened when I was very close to a service station in LA. The service station looked at my brakes the next day and determined that one of the caliper bolts was missing. The mechanic made a video showing the missing bolt. I was shocked to see the video. I was truly terrified of what could have happened while driving through the mountains. They charged me $180 to replace the missing bolt and also showed me that the inside of the wheel was damaged from the dangling caliper. A few days later I took the car back to Brake Master. I explained what happened and showed the manager the video. He opened a complaint with the corporate office and said we should hear back in a couple weeks. A few weeks later we followed up with him. Apparently he had heard from his corporate office, but didn't contact me. The bottom line is all they offered me was an apology and they reimbursed me the $180. read more

Had my air conditioning replaced. While I was gone they called me and said I need a new radiator because mine was clogged, After I got to the shop.I asked to see my old radiator and it just had a little debris that now into the front of the radiator and that's what they considered clogged. I could have just sprayed it with a water hose and unclogged' it. My last oil changed from there.I received no receipt and the sticker is what they put on my windshield. I went in yesterday for a scheduled brake service at 8:30 AM. After waiting for nearly an hour and a half, I asked for an update and was told my car was "next in line" -- meaning it hadn't even been worked on yet. At that point, I asked for my keys because I was planning to take my car elsewhere. Suddenly, I was told they were just now pulling my car in. I decided to stay since I had already wasted so much time, but the situation was incredibly frustrating. What made it worse was seeing customers who arrived 30 minutes after me get their cars serviced and returned before mine had even been touched. This level of disorganization and disregard for scheduled appointments is unacceptable. The amount of stress this place has caused me can't even be properly described in a review. But if you care about your wallet and sanity-- I beg of you to learn from my mistakes. I already knew they were schemers after getting work done from them last year and the year before-- and made the greatest mistake of 2025 by taking my car back. I came in for a diagnosis in March (since some parts were under warranty and of course wanted to see if those were the cause of the issue), they dramatically tell me I need a catalytic converter for over $3000 among other things. I leave to get second opinions and first of all, they didn't even fully screw my spark plugs back in. Second, nobody else I go to is concerned about the cat. So I get some other work done elsewhere--and here's my next mistake. I was recommended to replace my thermostat, so I thought "well that IS under warranty still at Break Masters--so as much as I don't want to go back, gotta do what you gotta do!". Still had a few check engine codes, so my goal was to focus on one at a time while money was tight. That's when the disrespect and scheming hit the roof. I came in and repeated numerous times that all I want is my thermostat looked at. I don't care what other codes you pull, or if the car is going to blow up tomorrow-- all I need is one part looked at because it's under warranty. They ask if the car is running weird or overheating, I say no--I just have a code for it and was recommended to replace it. I knew what would end up happening, but man did I hope, and again--that was a mistake and I hope nobody else will make it. I'm told it will be an hour and a half to run a few tests--I'm there for almost 5 hours even though it's empty. They start getting a little funny with me once they see that I got my turbocharger replaced elsewhere and accuse me of lying about the car overheating. My radiator cracked last month and it's been repaired, my guy--I have no reason to explain a previous issue that is unrelated to what is going on right now. They keep blaming the other shop, saying they messed up a bunch of stuff and that's why I'm having problems (which...I wasn't having, I just was trying to get the codes off). One guy finally tells me everything is looking good, they're gonna take care of the thermostat and I also need this $300 part to go along with it. So I'm like sure, that's fine. He says just wait until the manager returns so he can confirm the warranty information and whatnot. Another hour or so passes. Cue the dramatic, cliché "come take a look at this, it's not good" and for some reason my car is all taken apart like a horror scene and they're saying my engine might be flooded (because the other shop, of course) which caused my thermostat to corrode too (goofy because that thermostat code has been there since before any repairs). Let me mention too--that thermostat looked 15 years old even though they replaced it in September. Not gonna assume anything, but it is a wee bit suspicious. So after waiting there for hours they tell me to keep it over night even though the shop is still open for an hour and a half. Playing it off like it's some stellar act of kindness to ensure my car is safe. Alrighty mate. Not sure why I even let them keep it, because it just gets goofier. I get a call in the morning saying they stayed late, came in early to look at it-- boyyy give me a break. Says my engine is fine, but that my water pump is contaminated and 'because it's the other shop's fault' my warranty on that is voided. Oh also, it has to be original parts so extra expensive. I called all of this happening, that's what's so frustrating. Of course, I just want my car put back together and returned to me--but oh, that $300 part? Apparently I approved of it and the car can't be put back together without it. Like what??? Homie told me I needed it for the repair back when "everything looked good", that's why I "approved it" even though nobody mentioned it to me again after I was told to wait, so I didn't even fully know what was going on. Plus apparently the diagnosis was $200?? So I paid $500 just to waste time at, miss work, and have a car returned to me with no thermostat--even though that is the ONLY thing I wanted looked at. They didn't even call me when it was put back together. When we did call, they say "we didn't say we'd call just to come by in a few hours"??? Homie I have a life and responsibilities, what place wouldn't call you when your car is ready? It's beyond obvious what is going on here. read more

They said there's nothing they can do. 2'yrs later I come back because I have to push brakes really hard to brake. They can't find any record of my visits. Mgr was not sympathetic and reluctant to do anything. I had to come back to find any of my receipts. I had my daughter take the car back and the receipts since I had to work. Wear and tear on brakes happens to every car. Especially when most of your driving is done in the city with a lot of stop lights and traffic. And while I can do a brake job if I want to, the fact is I don't want to. So instead I brought my car in to Brake Masters. I scheduled an appointment online for 7:30 right when they open. I showed up a little early but they got me right in and checked my brakes for me. They told me basically what I already knew. The brakes were functional but showing signs of wear. I opted for new pads, rotors and fluid. It was more than I really wanted to pay but it was more than I would have done myself at home. I would have only changed the pads and not fully trusted myself. For safety's sake it is worth it to me to pay up a little bit for a professional to do the job. The guys at Brake Masters are professional, friendly and fast working. At least they were today. I had my early appointment plus they had a couple of cancelations. So this job went fast. All total I was there for maybe an hour. That gave me time to walk nearby and do some shopping. I was walking back when I saw my car pass by me. They were taking it for a quick test drive to check the new brakes. Mission accomplished. read more

So this place was good and trustworthy when all the old techs and management was here, now absolutely not. I brought my car in 2x and BOTH times all the sudden all these other problems are found, mysteriously. Both times, it was something easy and simple and turns out to be like a thousand in the end. First was brakes, which I had slotted and drilled rotors already on my truck. I brought brand new ones and brand new pads. The ones that were on were almost brand new and they took the old ones AND rotors off, over $500 worth, and just slapped the new ones on. Did I get or get asked if I wanted the old ones, nope. I know they had NOTHING wrong with them, so someone there is probably rolling on my $500 rotors. And they said I need a new oil pan and gasket which will be $1000-1200. This last time, I said oil change, check the brakes and check the alignment. They come back saying they can't check the brakes cause it wasn't purchased from them. They didn't look at the alignment but tell me that the thermostat and it's gasket need to be replaced cause it's leaking all over. Weird how nothing is said about the oil pan that hasn't been replaced. And a $500 bill for them to do the thermostat cause it takes 2hrs. I said the pet is $20, how is it $480 in labor? Oh, it takes 2hrs to replace it. But then a different guy says, "it's leaking a bit but not a lot to need replacing. It drips on the water pump and dries up." Yeah, never again am I going back there. They lost all the good mechanics and management at this location and I wish I knew where they went cause those guys always shot straight and knew what they were doing. read more

I brought my car in today on my lunch hour to have one of my front headlights replaced. I had ordered the light ahead of time and thought I'd try Brake Masters since I had taken my car in for an oil change last summer and the service was OUTSTANDING. I have a Mercedes which is notoriously difficult and expensive to maintain. Charles and Ruben greeted me with a smile and a hello (quite possibly the friendliest staff EVER) and got started right away. Turns out I had bought the wrong part, but they had one in stock and put it in for me. They finished the job in less than an hour and I was able to get back to work on time. As I sat in the waiting area, I watched and listened as Charles and Ruben greeted every customer (in person and on the phone) with the same enthusiastic, warm, friendly greeting. Here we go, first point of contact was my wifey calling and speaking with these guys since I was at work. Rear brakes were grinding just only for two days- got quotes over the phone like $450 just for rear brakes, never was their an offer to resurface rotors or other options right away replace rotors. When I got a chance I called and got some run around- wifey was worried so we took it in. Dropped the car off got a call the car was done- went to front counter with my wife to be handled a bill of $276 for just resurface rotors and rear brakes. Beyond ridiculous I asked for an itemized copy was shown other work was added to my bill, took the front desk guy that they should have called me about doing that brake fluid flush- 90% of vehicles don't ever really need a brake fluid flush. He said they never talked to you about it I said no they didn't only about resurfacing rotors. He went to the back to get the mechanic and the dude (and the BS) manager came to the front and said we talked about it, I said no we talked about resurface of the rotors never about the brake fluid flush. The mechanic then said out loud "Fuck it" take it off after he through a tantrum and crumbled the paper and through it. That just told me that he was purposely trying to get over on us- I lost it because he walked away like it was nothing. So I got pissed because of the disrespectful attitude for his wrong- I told him is that how you talk to a customer- He literally didn't say Jack squat to me. I walked back into the office and said is that how your employees talk to customers. Only one guys apologized the other guy stayed quite and the other BS manager just walked away and didn't even say nothing- They did take off the (overcharge) which I don't even know if they even did that work on the vehicle. Not a good way to conduct business or business practices. First and last time ever going there. No way do you ever like an employee talk to a customer like that and just stand by not saying a whole lot to gain back business- never offered an additional discount or anything for that guys behavior..... No I don't recommend this place This location is on Marks st in the Lowes parking lot... Find somewhere else to go Find somewhere that treats customers who are spending money like people and with some respect not with the disrespect I encountered with my wife. All this was done nI front of her. NEVER GOING BACK STAY AWAY. They will try and charge you more then what you wanted done. Make sure to read over your bill and make sure it reflects what you wanted done. Or simply find somewhere else to go. You have been warned. They changed my Toyota oil at 70k miles and told me it needed to be changed again at 75k miles. Before returning I checked the Toyota website and it very clearly states that if synthetic oil is used, oil should be changed every 10k miles instead of 5k miles. Im going with Toyota's recommendation. When I cancelled my appointment I was told " do what you want, we still recommend every 5k miles" I will be going elsewhere where they don't miss lead and where they don't recommend service that is not needed. I took my car in asking for an oil change and tire rotation. Also ask them to check the brakes. They took my car in on a timely manor. After 30 mins I was told I needed two rear struts. Trusting that I needed new struts I agreed. I kept my eye on my car and reminded them for a tire rotation. The manager reminded the tech. I know my tires were not rotated as I was watching the tech. I wouldn't be upset if the tech said he didn't do it, but he lied and did not do it. Manager said he was in the middle of a he said/he said situation. Anyways they lost my business. You already get a discount from your supplier ! I can buy the overpriced alternator from O'Reilly or Auto Zone for $450 -$550 + core charge! Which is overpriced from them as well. And your above price doesn't include installation, that's another $140, Total $1,000.00 for an alternator tha should cost Around $150 maybe!! What do you think about my thinking?
