This was going to be a very expensive job (in the $ thousands). I wasn't completely convinced a car as new as mine with minimal miles was in need of new shocks and struts yet. But I'm been in OC for 40 years and had many mechanics. Danny and the crew are very Honest they will help you out , if they see a problem they will tell you bring it back when you can . Got my brake pads replaced here. They said they'll call me once its done that day. Never got the call, I ended up having to call them near their close time only to find out its already been completed... Ok, sure people forget sometimes I get that. They also inform me that I should replace my rotors soon and they'll call me back the next day for the prices, never got that call. I again had to call back later the next day, the guy said he needs to check the price and he'll call me back. Guess what, never got a call back. That's three times they were supposed to call me back but didn't. This guy either has some serious memory issues or they just don't want my business. I have no reason to believe they'd purposely ignore me, I was never an asshole or argued with them at all. I just wanted to get stuff done with my car. Their website also has 'coupons' for their services that I found out before paying. Asked if the coupon applies and he, without any hesitation at all, said it has already been added to the total. Shouldn't have been too trusting of these guys. Got back home and compared the invoice with prices they had up on the wall. It was the same, no discount. Their wait room, for any of you trying to stay there while they work on your car.. have fun with that. Zero air conditioning and the sun shines in at all the seats. The only redeeming feature of this place is the price. I checked with other places and this was the cheapest, but not by a lot. They are awesome! I was told by my car dealership multiple times that my brakes needed to be fixed and went to them for a second opinion. They were honest with me about the brakes still having life in them and did not charge me for the consultation. When the time came to get my brakes fixed, they did for $200 less than the dealership quoted me. Quick service and a good waiting area. BEWARE. These guys are crooks. Went in to get my brakes done (New Rotors & Pads). I specifically asked for BMW Rotors and Pad and I recently found out from another mechanic that they installed some cheap chinese aftermarket brand. For the longest time I wondered why my brakes always squeaked. I'm going to report them to the BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) and I would urge you to do the same. I've been here twice for an oil change now. Going into my third one right now & I've been lagging on this review! I don't know anything about cars & honestly I feel like I would have felt sketched & uncomfortable anywhere else. Especially being a girl sometimes (if you don't know anything) it's just kind of awkward, but not here. This place is great. The vibe the employees give is super friendly. They come across as honest & they're very helpful. Especially Sál he's always so nice and super helpful. He's not here today sadly, but the other guys are super cool too. The leather chairs are super comfy. Waiting feels like a really good break from the hectic day. A lot of businesses are just mediocre lately. Called Sal for an alignment on my 2007 Cadillac Escalade. Asked him how fast you can get me in and out and he said about an hour. Brought my car in. He told me I was next to line. Walked over to Starbucks came back almost an hour later. My car was still outside. Then the car that I was waiting to go in after pulled out and another car not mine go back in. If Sal would've told me to come back another time another day I would've been fine with it. It's not cool to tell your customers you'll have them done in a certain time and not even come close to that time. At first Sal was really nice but after I got the "free" brake inspection he have me a quote and it turned out to be more than I was expecting. I said that I knew somewhere else that would get me the service done for cheaper and he started giving me attitude. I mean yeah it sucks that I had him put my car up and take off the tires but if I knew how much he was going to charge me I wouldn't have made him go through the trouble. He showed a complete 180 in his attitude and that's what pushed me to write this review. He needs to work on his customer service skills a little more. Edit- he called me back after I had just left because another customer had asked me why I wasn't getting my brakes done here and I told her that I knew a place that was $100 cheaper. Apparently she brought it up to Sal and he got mad or something and called me back saying that what I did was "low class" and that if I told him he would have price matched. He never even said that before to me and calling me back just tell me that I was low class just lost him a star and hopefully other customers will see this and reconsider going to him. Best mechanic place ever! When you go to breakmasters you don't have to worry about dealing with creepy or condescending mechanics. Everyone that works at brake masters is super kind and friendly and they don't make you feel bad for asking tons of questions. Before I came to breakmasters I got a quote from a different mechanic for like $1700 to $2400 to fix my car and then i found breakmasters and they did it for $700!!! They are the best and won't rip you off!! Save your money and don't waste your time with other mechanics. Also, today i went in to have my car worked on and they topped of my transmission oil and replaced my break light for free. Best place ever!! read more

My Brake Master's experience was far from desirable overall. I took my car in to get the brakes inspected. The mechanic said I needed my front calipers, rotors, and pads replaced as well as my rear drums, cylinders, and shoes. He quoted this for around $700. I had him do the repairs and have been back three times due to different noises made by the brakes. All three times I returned the mechanics fixed my problems at no additional cost, but it was annoying to have to return so many times. For $700 in repairs I would expect everything to be ok after the first time. Over all not bad guys there, but I doubt I would go back again. read more

Took my car in here to get the check engine light diagnosed and they believed it was an oxygen sensor that had gone bad they reset the light charging me for the work and off I went a few miles up the road the light came back on so I took it back they spent three days of their own time and their own money to diagnose it again replacing or cleaning several items that show up on the code that was reading on the computer And even gone so far as to give me a ride home when I brought it back the cost for the repair was more than what I originally paid they told me not to worry about it that they were covering it I will continue to come to brake Masters and if you're looking for an honest mechanic I suggest you do the same read more

I only wanted a free break inspection! I know my car pretty well and know how to handle pushy mechanics. The main guy scared me saying my pads are cracked and how I would need to install new ones from him asap. I just hate it when these guys try to trap you into paying for something you didn't want to in the first place. When I told him I will be ordering original OEMs for my car, he convinced me his brand of break pads, one which I've never heard are much better. In the end he got pissed and walked back into his office. Will not go here ever again. read more

Brakemasters has been one of the main car shops I go to, especially if I am in Lake Forest visiting my folks. Their prices are affordable, quick service and they always seem to remember their customers. I have gotten oil changes here and brakes as well. The brakes are lifetime warranty which is a plus. You just pay for the labor. Overall, I will come here to get my oil changes (regular $25 and synthetic was around $40). Customer service is friendly and they have a waiting room. read more

This is my favorite place to get my car worked on. Today, a Brake Master Mechanic changed my oil and filter for the 5th time. The service and experience was fast and thorough. In the past, on my three vehicles, I have had brakes replaced, adjusted, and just inspected. Front end alignments is another helpful service that this Brake Master provides. I have had front rotors replace on my 4 wheel drive and wheel bearings repacked. The mechanic did a great job. The Owner/Manager Sal is super nice and is always pleasant when I request work on my autos. Sal is very informative on the work to be performed and has never exceeded his estimated cost of a repair. Another Manager, Danny, is no slacker. Danny also explains work needed and not needed. He will advise if your vehicle does not need repair. I have found prices to be very reasonable. It is a pleasure to do business at this Brake Masters. I found that I can trust all of the Mechanics. The Mechanics are pleasant and approachable. Similar to the Managers, they treat me as a valued customer. I recommend this Brake Masters on Bake Parkway a a competent and trusted auto repair shop. I've had service here twice for alignment and had pretty good results. Now I'm looking for a good place for a brake job and I'm not sure about this place. The reviews that's describe long waits and coming back "in an hour" just to see your car remains unmoved in the parking lot is true. At least for me..on both of my visits. After resurfacing my rear drums, ( $169.00) still had a same bad brake feel, even worse, because they did not bleed the brakes, nor they adjusted the lines. I bleed them for myself and a bunch of air came out. Returned, and they said it is the front rotors are bad. After resurfacing those, ($68.00) still bad. Went back again, to tell them, is still bad. They resurfaced the drums again, for free. Still bad. Go back again, tell the manager the story, he said, they can install new Centric premium drums at cost(!) no labor charge for $240.00. I got the same drums online for $110.00 with shipping the next day. Can you imagine what they cost would be??? These guys do not deserve to be in business. Far from masters... Shop around. Took my car here to change my brakes and it didnt sound the same. Took it back, they said it wasnt a safety issue and the sound will eventually go away. After a few weeks, still the same, took it back again. Same response but this time the manufacturer made that type of brakes for my car, and again, not a safety issue. In the end, a few months later, my brakes still has a loud spring type noise AND sounds like a bullhorn when I brake. Took it to get two opinions (L&M and a personal mechanic) and they both said the same thing; Brake Masters used cheap quality brakes and parts did not match. At the very least, Brake Masters should communicate with their customers about options. I would rather pay more for quality. I highly do not recommend. Which is sad becauae their customer service is good. And that's what my two stars support. read more

I was referred to Break Masters by my co-worker for breaks. After getting my breaks done, I felt Break Masters were the most honest and efficient auto service provider I had ever came across. I recommended my husband to them and they took care of his breaks for a lot less then another shop closer to our home. We now get oil changes from them regularly. This past weekend they really out did themselves. My battery died while we were running errands. By chance the car turned back on after a few tries and we drove directly to Break Masters. Sal quickly checked the car and told me I needed to replace the battery. After another mechanic swore it was the starter (not from Break Masters). Instead of Sal trying sell me a battery there so he can make money, he directed me to Costco (I asked for Costco since I had purchase my previous battery there) to get a replacement battery. He then installed the battery at no cost. I was able to enjoy the rest of Saturday afternoon. Great customer service with true honesty goes a long away. I called them and they said no appointment necessary which worried me because I don't have time to be waiting around to get my car fixed but they got me in and out of there in less than an hour. All four wheels aligned for $89.95, how is that possible? I was expecting a lot more, it felt like i was stealing :) I noticed 2 bad reviews for this business but to be expected from any place that services this many vehicles on a daily basis. Spent over $1000 on repair work--including a basic oil change. Went to start up the car and the coolant light was flashing. Ran to get the mechanic who had to pour an entire container of coolant in the car. Said I was good. Tried starting the car again--and this time, the oil light was flashing! Had to run back in again to get the mechanic who came out w a can of oil and said I just needed to be 'topped off'. I go to the mechanic, didn't I just pay for an oil change!?! His reply, sorry-guess they just forgot to fill the fluids back up!! Seriously??! This just shows a lack of attention to detail in my opinion--and why would I want someone like that doing serious repair work on my car?? I'm disappointed... read more

Honest, reasonable in price, friendly, and even replaced a hard to get to tail light that had burnt out for free!!! I couldn't believe it!
