Took my Honda Fit and my Wife's Jeep Cherokee in this AM around 815- they replaced the front brake pads on my car and the front pads on my wife's jeep as well as all of her shocks- they had my car in and out in about an hour and my wife's jeep took a couple of hours. I've been working on my own cars for years now, not just because it's hard for me to trust any mechanic to do the work but also because I don't like the thought of me over paying someone to do something when I know damn well that I can do it myself the right way while I save money at the same time. BEWARE: Brake Masters advertises good deals, but does not deliver. When I took my SUV in for a wheel alignment, they waited until they completed the alignment, before telling me that my front struts were shot and needed replacing. I asked them why they didn't check the struts first and tell me this while I sat in their lobby. They responded telling me that they could not have known. This is a flagrant lie as checking the struts is standard processes when doing an alignment. I asked them what the Bureau of Automotive Repair would have to say about this and they admitted to their mistake and offered to grant me a free alignment if I had them do the struts. I asked for a quote on strut replacement and they gave me was grossly high number that didn't even include high quality parts. Now sure I was being scammed, I rejected this proposal and only agreed to pay them if they would grant me a free alignment after I had the struts done by my own Mechanic. They understood that it would be several months before I came back as I traveled extensively (and rarely drive), and they agreed as long as I did not hold them to any tire wear. So several months later I finally get my struts replaced and I called Brake Masters up to schedule an appointment for my free alignment. To my surprise they informed me that they were not going to honor our agreement as it has been too many months and I did not have them do the strut replacement. Even though I was outraged by this, I tried to compromise and negotiate a partial fee, but they would only do the alignment for the full price. They are a bunch of dishonorable cons. Had a brake job done at a brake masters back in Texas I recently moved back here and I made sure the job was warrantied before I moved states. I go into this brake masters, no wait time while I'm there but it picks up later on. My brakes have been squealing real bad I bring it in to get checked I watched the technician put my car up check one caliper and pull it down and drive it 200 feet saying he fixed it and handed me my keys. I've been around shops my whole life I'm studying to be a mechanical engineer I come from a long line of master mechanics I know that because I wasn't a paying customer I was pushed out so that paying customers got a quicker service. So I call the shop when I get down the street and he not only fixed nothing and lied to me but it got worse. The shop tells me the warranty doesn't apply because it was at a different brake masters and that I need to have them fix it. I call back to Texas and the manager is actually very cool with me immediately gives me numbers and his regional managers involved now I'm going through the big boss at corporate to resolve this issue. Never once have I had service like this in my life and I am very disappointed in this individual shop and I will never return nor will I ever refer anyone to it. read more

Not only was the service great but the sales manager informed me all I needed was an oil change and to top off my fluids. I was in and out within an hour. My check engine light came on about a month ago (and it prevented me from getting a smog check) I went to a local mechanic in west covina who told me it was going to cost me about $400-$500 to fix everything that needed to be done... idk why but it felt a bit off.. idk if he was lying or what but either way i didnt have $400 or $500 to drop right then and there... I went to visit my boyfriend and told him about it he told me to go to this place and when i went they were so helpful and nice! i dont know anything about cars but they told me what was wrong was that i needed to change one part that was in charge of (signaling something? i forgot exactly lol).. but only ended up being $125 and they told me if it didnt go away to come back and they would help me out.. but it went away as soon as i drove off! they also gave me a free water because it was hot! ... these guys are really awesome... i figured since i was a girl coming in a little lost they would take advantage of my lack of knowledge but i felt super comfortable that they were acting w integrity! thanks again! read more

I went to Brake Masters today. I read all of the good and bad reviews here on Yelp and even got a glowing review from my salesman at the O'Reilly Auto Parts in Lake Forest. But after what I experienced, I wouldn't recommend this place at all!!! Just like David E. in Irvine, I called before I drove over and got Danny (Denny??) on the phone. I told him that I would like to get a brake fluid flush for my Nissan Xterra. I asked him how fast he can get me in and out and he said about an hour. So, I brought truck down there with my wife following me in another car. I went into the office and asked Danny again how long it will take and he said about an hour. So I drove off in my other car and ran some errands. I came back an hour-and-a-half later, and I too saw my truck still outside waiting to be serviced. So I walked into the office and Danny told me that it was going to be another 20 minutes due to some "problem" they were having. He didn't even apologize nor did anyone from Brake Masters bother calling me on my cell to let me know there would be a delay. Infuriated; I asked for my keys and left. This place obviously does not care about customer service. I mean, Like David E., I would have been okay if they had just called me on the phone and told me of the delay or if they would have recommended another day and time, but because they don't care about their customers they didn't bother. read more

I was referred to Brake Masters by Americas tire co. for an alignment. I walked in and was greeted by Sal, who made me, as a woman, feel very comfortable and not just some female who knows nothing about the industry. Let me also explain two months prior I had an oil change at another service location in Laguna Hills which told me I needed the alignment and numerous other things done for around 400$. Two weeks after, my check engine light was reappearing. I decided to take my car here after calling some other places because they had the most reasonable pricing. I explained to him that I was in need of an alignment and asked if he could check to see if anything else was wrong considering my check engine light was appearing. After I left, they called back within thirty minutes to tell me everything was ready, however, they told me my oil was dirty and low and needed to be changed. They changed the oil for me, fixed my alignment, and told me everything that the previous place told me I needed to replace was all in order. I walked out paying way less than planned and I even got my money back from the place who gave me the faulty oil change. Sal is the best!!! My car was making noise and i knew i needed my break pads replaced however i was hoping i could wait till the weekend to have them done. I was reversing out of my parking spot at work and the noise became worse i knew i could not hold it off any longer. I called Break masters at 530 and got Sal I told him that my car is making noise. Sal told me to come in even thou they closed at 6 pm. Well I didnt arrive till 5:55 and they checked my break pads and sure enough they needed to be replaced. I told Sal that I didnt have enough money to get them fixed right then and then. Sal worked with me and gave a great deal on new break pads and allowed me to make a arrangement with him to pay the balance off at another time. I always feel like they are trying to up sell me, often for services I don't really need. Anyhow, my experience with this location was amazing. I went in for some services that I was being quoted at almost 30 percent higher at nearby locations, for the EXACT SAME SERVICES! I had an issue with alignment on my older Focus. It was so bad it was ruining my new tires. I took the car to Brake Masters in Irvine, and dealt with Sal and I think Danny was his other Manager there. Integrity, honesty, empathy and generosity are the words that define Sal and Danny of B.M. in Lake Forest. I had an oil leak for weeks whose origin was frustratingly difficult to find. In desperation I took my car to B.M. in Lake Forest. They kept my car for 3 days trying to locate the cause and when they finally did find it... they fixed it for a "more than a fair price." If I had gone to any other repair shop it would have cost me hundreds more than I could ever afford. Sal and Danny were not out to exploit me and take me for all they could get. Instead, they could feel my frustration and empathized with my fear that repairing my car would cost me a small fortune. I would like to say that it's nice to know there are still honest people in the world. When I went in because my breaks were squeaking I was greeted by a man named Sal he was very nice and had me fill out the paper work for my free break inspection. It took about 45 minutes and he came out and told me I did not need new breaks that my car had metallic break pads and that they sometimes speak but they still had 75% left on them I asked if there was anything I could do and he said I could replace them but he said they really don't need it he recommended I stop being so "easy" on my breaks and that the noise would go away. So I got in my car and drove home, on the way I realized what a honest great guy he is he could have taken me for a few hundred and he didn't. I came to here today for Brake Rotor Resurface, there are sales said my brake pad very very bad,very noise. Actually I just use my car for track only, which is track brake pads absolutely have noise! But I know which I can use for 1-2 trackdays, then this guy take a front brake pads for me, I said I just using Hawk Only and I just care Brake pads performance, he said which batter then my Hawk Brake brake (street and racing), he using that on his, then he promise this one better than Hawk. When we were talking ,this guy already open that. Okey, he give me promise, so I believe for him. Then I got this Brake pads. After I try it, damn !!! I'm a fan. In this day and age, it is rare to find a company who will provide a complimentary service. However, that is exactly what Brake Masters did. I had my brakes done in LA county, but I live in Orange county. Long story. Anyways, when I got home, they were making a lot of noise. I called and spoke to Danny and then went in to see him. He had his technicians check them out and said it was just the brake pads that were noisy, but they were mechanically fine. I thanked him and asked him what I owed him and he said nothing. I couldn't believe it! Thank you Danny and Brake Masters for having such great customer service even for someone who didn't have the work done there. I recently visited the Brake Masters location on Bake parkway in Lake Forest (#198) and had a horrible experience. I went there for my brakes and alingment and was told that my shocks needed to be replaced. The tech showed me a demo in their waiting room on how shocks work and that if I don't replace them I can have a serious accident. I told the tech that I got my shocks replaced 3 months ago. He got all pissed and started being defensive that its not possible. Later, I showed him the receipt and he got pissed that I caught his lie. Think twice about going to this specific location or make sure you don't fall for their sales (lie) gimick. read more
