Brakemasters has a number of coupons available online. For the four services that I wanted done the amount should have come in at $430. I was advised the four services would be $578 mainly due to only one coupon per visit. I asked if I needed to schedule four separate visits to get the coupon price. I have yet to get an answer. I'm sure they thought I was being a smartass, but my question was made to allow them the opportunity to say they would honor the coupon pricing on their website. They respond within minutes of messages being sent, but two hours later I'm still hearing crickets. They have my phone number as I've been taking my families cars (5 cars total) to them for years (since 2015 when I moved into a home a half mile away). Unfortunately for Brakemasters, I found a new mechanic. It is one whole mile from my home so it is double the distance, but I'm sure that won't be an inconvenience. Not sure if the Brakemasters is a corporate or franchise, but either way they won't just be losing my family's business as I have a large circle of neighbor friends. this is only my second ever Yelp review in 10 years - Beware of this place, my valve cover gaskets were replaced 5,000 miles ago by brake Master and now leaking like mad! Because of their warranty policy it's been past the 12 months they offered and basically told me im screwed after spending more than 4k with them the repair before that was a catalytic converter after 91 days it failed and they charged me the labor again to corrected the under warranty part! the pictures I was shown from the auto repair place im at now is unbelievable - the amount of rtv silicone they gobbled on is proof of their fake Technical abilities to repair a vehicle! My fault for not double checking on the work Luckily the amount Paid to them qualifies for Small claims court , im considering this option I would not reccomend this place to No One! read more

I recently visited your shop for service on my vehicle, and afterward, I noticed several serious issues that were not present before: 1. My vehicle now pulls heavily to one side, which may indicate improper tire installation, incorrect alignment, or unsafe suspension handling. 2. One of my lug nuts is broken and stripped, which is a clear indication of over-torquing or careless handling during reinstallation of my wheels. This not only compromises the safety of my vehicle but will also require part replacement and labor to correct. 3. My ambient air temperature sensor was torn off, with only exposed wiring left visible. This sensor is mounted behind the bumper and is unlikely to be damaged under normal driving conditions. Its damage suggests mishandling during wheel or underbody work, possibly from a lift arm or removal of underbody panels. These issues were not present prior to your shop servicing my vehicle. As a paying customer, I trusted that the work would be performed with the care and professionalism consistent with Brake Masters' brand and customer service values. The physical damage and mechanical changes strongly point to mishandling during the service visit. I am requesting: * An investigation and explanation into how this damage occurred. * A no-cost repair or compensation for: * The stripped/broken lug nut and wheel stud. * A diagnostic and alignment inspection for the pull issue. * The ambient temperature sensor and wiring repair. I am willing to work with your store management to resolve this reasonably and professionally, but I would like a written response and proposed resolution within 5 business days. Do not go here . A truly horrible experience dealing with these people. My car got significantly worse after they worked on it.

To all this may concern. On May 18, 2024, I had brake pads, tire rotation, and a full synthetic lube, oil, and filter change performed by technician Dylan Alger at Brake Masters on Lake Pleasant and Happy Valley Rd. They do claim that the technician is no longer employed by them. On June 3, while driving on the 303 freeway, the engine light came on, and I noticed oil leaking from my car. My husband discovered that the oil plug was lying on top of the skid plate. The car wouldn't start, so we had it towed back to Brake Masters, where the last service was done. On June 5, Brake Masters confirmed that the engine was ruined due to their negligence, and they agreed to replace it. Despite requesting a rental car on June 4, I didn't receive one until June 7. I got my car back on July 6 with a rebuilt engine, but the engine light came on again soon after. Damien, the store manager, claimed it was just a computer glitch. On August 4, while driving home from Sedona, the car decelerated, and the engine light started flashing. We were stranded in extreme heat for three hours before getting a tow. The tow cost $236, and the car was taken back to Brake Masters. On August 5, Damien informed us that they might need to replace the engine again. Despite our request for a rental car, they delayed issuing one until the next day. Terry, the Director of Operations, refused to consider providing fair market value for the vehicle and was dismissive of our concerns. On August 9, I found my car left outside Brake Masters after a night of monsoon storms with the windows open. The interior was soaked, dry water shows rain water was all over my controls for my window and the rain water made it through to the passenger door and was visible on that control panel, and my CAR KEY was left in the ignition. I was told that my car would be placed in the garage every night and secure. There were 2 to 3 other vehicles in the garage yet my car was left outside. So disappointed and we will NOT be going back. I had my brakes replaced in June and paid roughly $500 which included a lifetime warranty. A few days ago, my brakes started squeaking so I made an appointment and took my truck back in this morning (9/10/24). After an inspection, I was told that now my rotors were bad and needed replacing. When I asked why this wasn't discovered during my brake replacement 2.5 months ago, I was told that they aren't required to recommend rotors since they "technically fell within spec and there was a thousandth left on them at the time." I was charged another $800 for this which included a $30 labor charge to put the brake pads on to "retain the lifetime warranty" I'd purchased. When I argued that this was all ridiculous and that I should have been informed in June of the rotors (and at least given the chance to say no), I was told that I wasn't being charged for the new brake pads and that they gave me $40 off. I am beyond furious that I was never told of the need for new rotors back in June when I had my brakes replaced so I could have just done this all at the same time and likely spent less than the $1300 I'm out now and saved myself 3 hours off work. I guarantee I will not be back and my wife was just about to schedule roughly $900 worth of work on her vehicle and will no longer being doing so. We are greatly disappointed after having above average experiences the other times we've brought our vehicles in. read more

There are three things you need to buy to do a basic oil change. Oil (duh), oil filter, and crush washer. Not hard to figure out. I had an oil change done and started noticing spots in my garage and driveway. I thought to myself, "Oh no." Sure enough I crawled under my Jeep and took a look. Sure enough, it was dripping from the oil drain plug. The Sure sign they reused the crush washer. NOT GOOD. I going to take it back and have them do this correctly. I come here often to get my oil changed. I made an 8am appointment on Monday for today (Saturday). Got here at 745am to drop off my car. Was told they only had 1 worker but they would get it done as fast as they can. It's now 1154am and they JUST put my car on the lift! I was literally waiting for someone to come back in so I could ask for my car when it was magically lifted! So pissed off. Do NOT take walk ins and put them ahead of appointments. I took my car in for brakes and an oil change with the result being a car that leaked oil all over the driveway. We took it back to them, explaining how the car was not leaking oil prior this oil change and they stated, oh that is a common BMW issue. Without looking under the car or lifting it up to inspect it, they quoted me 24 hours of labor to fix the issue. Come to find out after looking at the car myself, I discovered the oil drain plug was lose with the original washer being re-used and torn. It was simple fix that should have never been an issue. To top it off, and after quoting us 24 hours of labor, another employee walks out and offers his personal services outside the shop to fix the issue. SO UNFORTUNATE, TOTAL RIP OFF. read more

It's places and people like brake masters and Damian and his store manager that give their industry a bad reputation I brought my vehicle to STORE 224 , for a simple AC repair. i ended up not getting the service done because I was quoted double the prices for the services @ $1078 for a $575 service. 2 other reputable mechanic shops both quoted me around 600$ for the same service. even the dealership was charging $350 less Then brakes masters. i was wrong to trust them and never will again. thankfully I didn't waste any more time or money. Terrible experience! I went to get my brake pads changed, which were switched with no issues. They recommended a brake fluid flush, I declined and that was that. I came home to just check the brake fluid, only to find out they left my brake fluid reservoir uncapped, now my brake fluid is all dirty! I was lucky that the cap was still sitting next to the reservoir and it didn't fall, very frustrated! read more

I brought my vehicle in for an basic oil change right after getting a car wash and left with grease finger prints on my driver side pilar. Management should have better protocols to keep customers vehicles clean and cared for. I shouldn't have to pay for service with this type of careless attention to details. I just went for a basic oil change . Now my car has 21 issues . The people who work there messed up my car!!!! I was raised with a mechanic family and they have never gave me issues like BRAKE MASTERS....!!. I've spent $300 dollars already and they expect me to take my car a third time so they "can look at it ". Warning about Brake Masters on Happy Valley and Lake Pleasant. I bought a Ford F-250 Diesel recently with 50,000 miles on it because I am buying a 5th Wheel and need a tow vehicle. While having a second key fob made at Peoria Ford, they told me that my front brakes were good for another six months and quoted me $375 for the job. I had planned on changing them anyway, but did not want to pay dealer prices for a simple brake job. I decided to take my truck to Brake Masters with the intent of having them do the job. After pulling off the tires and inspecting, I got the results. The worker (wearing a white shirt) tells me I need a brake job now (not what the dealer told me). He says, "That is a big truck with heavy duty brakes, you are looking at $445.85 for the job. I almost laugh and tell him that is pretty high for a brake job, and he proceeds to repeat how it is a big truck and is diesel (which has nothing to do with brakes). Just to see what he says, I ask him, "How much to change the transmission fluid?" I get more of a lecture about the "big truck" and "it will take a lot of fluid" and he tells me $250. Apparently, I was wearing the "I am stupid, kick me" sign and did not realize it. I go inside to get my key from another guy in a white shirt and asked him how much to change the transmission fluid just to see what he says. He thinks for a few seconds and says, "You are looking at $175. I say okay and leave. I remember that when I was in Discount Tires getting my tire leak fixed and rotation done they had recommended Greulich's Automotive over next to the carwash in the Walmart Center. I go over there and ask about getting the front brakes done. He tells me $249.95 plus tax and it will take 1 1/2 hours. I saved $150 going there. I went over to the Car Wash Lube Center and they changed the transmission fluid for $125.62, saving me another $125. Great customer service and normal prices! Just something to consider before you go to Brake Masters. read more

I had called to get a 2nd opinion on a rear brake job. They were able to get me in that afternoon. The Mgr. came out to explain to me that I DID NOT need brake pads or rotors. Most likely I have at least 10,000 miles remaining. They gave me a print out of exactly the measurements on both front and rear rotors. I will definitely be doing business with this Brake Masters and encouraging all my friends and family to do the same! read more

I have continually had to bring my vehicle back 3-4 times no matter what the problem is with my vehicle for them to fix these issues that I guarantee other places can fix the first time correctly. I took my Mercedes in on September 27 to have my brakes changed paid $620 and when I picked up my vehicle and drove away I noticed a loud noise so I drove it back to brake masters they took it on a test drive heard the same noise as I was hearing and said they wanted to raise it back up to see what's making the noise when my husband realized they had left their drill in the wheel well of my car. My husband told the technician and he rushed to remove it before we could snap a pic and then the tech raised the car up on the jack. They checked for damages and then had my husband come inspect as well that's when my husband noticed they also didn't tighten the bolts on my calipers. They left hand prints all over my white interior as well. Over all horrible service. No one seemed to care and the way they acted was like this was a normal occurrence. The man at the front desk did not seem to care that his techs had messed up. One of the technicians told me the guy working on my car was a new hire and they were supposed to be checking his work clearly no one checked his work. I had contacted corporate as well but they are just as horrible as their location. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Took my car in for oil change and heater fan repair. Technician broke a passenger wiring harness, and it was FIVE weeks before I finally got my car back. Very poor communication during this time. Even then, I would not have written a poor review. However, when we went to get new tires a couple of weeks later we discovered they had put wheel locks on our car, and we had to pay $150 to get them cut off. the manager wouldn't deny it outright but said 'he couldn't imagine having done that'! That's the only place I have had my car serviced! Of course they put them on to prevent it being stolen for the 5 weeks it sat there. I just wish they would have taken responsibility. Not going back. Had an appt at 9:00 am and also mentioned I'm waiting and that I would be in adjacent shopping center. I called 45 mins later and they had not even started to work on my car. They told me they are "busy" - well I am, too, and that is why I made an appointment. Car took 75 mins for an oil change with an appt. Then I was over charged and double charged on my card. The double Charge appears to be resolved now, but a week later I was still not refunded the additional money they charged when they forgot to apply the coupon. Will just look for other options in the area now and hope for better service. They are always very accommodating and complete the work as quickly as possible, even without an appointment. During one visit it was an emergency as I was heading on a road trip and they diagnosed my car and had me on the road within an hour. Very knowledgeable, helpful and affordable. The last time I brought my car in for an oil change I had made an appointment and still ended up waiting a little over 4 hours. I desperately needed an oil change today and freed my schedule expecting to wait. I showed up 30 min early for my appointment in hopes to drop the car off for the day but once I arrived I was immediately told "they were overbooked" even though I had an appointment and there was still 4 hours before they closed they refused to see me. I was a long time customer until I have witnessed them standing around in groups not working at all while their customers wait for their vehicles to be fixed. We had to take our vehicle in 4 times for the same issue only to be charged all 4 times. When simply asking why we are paying more money when it should have been fixed on the first visit, Richard the manager at the time proudly walks out from doing nothing to argue and constantly over talk his customers. My husband and I both brought our vehicles to get an oil change. Together. Same day. All seemed well until the technician recommended a new cabin filter because my husband's car was "so filthy". My husband said, no thank you. And laughed. The gentlemen began to push further so my husband asked to see the filter. They said the tech had already "put it back" and the car was ready. Ready for the funny part? His filter wasn't even IN there. He took it out the week before and it was sitting in our garage. Not even IN the car. They lied. Shocker. Fast forward to 2.5 months later (last week). We are both coming up due for the next oil change. My husband's low oil light comes on. He checks the oil, LOW. Very low. Turns out he had to ADD 2 quarts of oil to a car that wasn't due for an oil change yet. That's fishy. Then, yesterday happened. My car popped up my "oil change needed" light last week. I thought it was strange because I wasn't even due. I had noticed my car was running a little rougher than usual, but I just thought it was the weather. Yesterday, after work, I went into the car to go home. Bing - low oil pressure light. What the heck? So I check the oil level. Almost NONE. Yep. NONE. So, I called my husband to bring me some oil, filled it up with 2 quarts and off I went. The car is running so smoothly. Here is the deal. I KNOW they didn't either fill it up, use the correct oil or something. Absolutely disgusting. Gross. We could have lost 2 freaking ENGINES to seizing because of their crap. They lied about the cabin filter - I don't believe a WORD they say and NEITHER should you. I wanted to post a review so this doesn't happen to anyone else. DO NOT GET your work done here. DON'T. I'm not one for reviews but here it goes. Went in for brakes to be done on my jeep because I really just didn't have time to do it myself with my work schedule. Over the phone got quoted about $500-$550 depending on if my rear drums needed to be replaced or if they can be turned. Upon inspection they came back and said neither front rotors or rear drums could be turned, told me price was $1100. I said no way as this is not a daily driver so I can't justify that price for it, I'll do it myself. They said rears still got some time before needing replaced and I could just roll with the fronts for $300. I agreed and let me say with full honesty, the brakes feel worse then before having replaced, they are straight sponge. I just don't understand how I could be told if the rears need replacement it will be $100 per drum, and it instantly doubles the price I was quoted. I planned on going back for the rears in the next week or so since I really have no time for it to do myself, but I can definitely say I won't be returning. Apparently bleeding brakes is a thing of the past. Looks like I paid $300 to still have work that needs to be performed myself. Lesson learned I guess. read more

Made an appointment 5 days ago @2:30pm and it is now as I'am typing 5pm. When I got here the place was pretty empty. Had this problem prior to coming here at the brake masters on Bell rd around 55th I think they said bring your car in and then around 5:15pm they said they couldn't get to it. My point being is if you can't do it when you say don't waste my F-en time. I will be spending a little extra for a simple oil change somewhere else. Never again. Plus!! Didn't have a great experience. Dropped my car here for an oil change and came back to them telling me my "dipstick broke because it got too hot and melted." Didn't offer to replace it with another or anything. Never had this issue before and had 4 other oil changes. Car is not that old (only 2 years) with relatively low miles (40k). Very disappointed in them. Unprofessional. Not to mention when I got home, noticed a parking permit laying on the dashboard missing. Made no sense to me because the permit expired in 12/2017. Permit also registered to my car so it's useless to whichever thief took it. Cannot trust this place at all, even for a simple oil change. On Tuesday, 09/06/2022, I met with Assistant store assistant manager Brian front lobby at the Brake Masters store #224 located at 10029 W. Happy Valley Rd, Peoria, Arizona. I told him I had an appointment to drop off my 99 Dodge Intrepid between 430PM and 5PM as scheduled a few days prior. He welcomed me in and was very polite. He asked me what services I was looking at getting done. told him the vehicle had an overheating issue I would like to get checked out. He told me there would be a $129.00 diagnosis fee. I told him that was ok. I further told him I would like to have the vehicles Sparkplugs and an oil change completed as well. He agreed. He told me they would look at, diagnose the overheating issue and would call me with the results. I thanked him and left. On Wednesday, 09/07/2022, a male called me representing Brake Masters. I do not recall his name. He informed me the oil pan on the vehicle had what appeared to be an oversized plug in it and that the oil change cannot be completed without replacing the entire oil pan. The oil pan would cost $795 to replace. He further told me with replacing the spark plugs, a fuel cleaning is highly recommended and costs is $129.00 and is optional. He continued and gave me the brake down and told me with everything including the coolant, thermostat, sparkplugs, fuel cleaning, oil pan replacement, oil filter, oil, thermostat replacement, diagnosis fee and with all labor costs involved, the total was at $3600.00. I asked him if I could call him back in a few minutes. He said ok. A few minutes later, I called back, informed them I did not wish to have the fuel cleaning conducted, and gave permission for the oil pan to be replaced. I was now provided a reduced total of $3400.00 and change due to taking off the $129.00 for the fuel cleaning. I gave permission to have all work mentioned and spoken about to be conducted. On Thursday, 09/08/2022, Brian called and told me a "rats nest" had been found in the engine compartment of the vehicle. He said a 02 sensor had been found with chewing marks on the wiring harness of the 02 sensor and "highly" recommended it be replaced now for $129.00 since the vehicle is already apart rather than the future because it would cost more for hourly labor in the future. I agreed and asked him to replace the sensor. He told me the new total for cost of 02 sensor would be at $3600.00. I told him ok. At about 330 P.M., Brian called me and told me the vehicle was completed. I told him I would be at the shop between 430 and 500 pm. At about 430 pm, I arrived at the shop. Brian began reading the list of services provided. He began talking about ball joints, tie-rods, tie-rod ends, alignment, wheel hubs and other suspension items. I believe he saw a puzzled look on my face because he stopped and asked me if any of this sounds right. I told him "no. none of it". He showed and provided me a list services performed on the vehicle. I told him I never spoke to anyone in any way shape or form of any type of suspension or steering work to be conducted on the vehicle. I brought it in for an overheating issue, oil and spark plug change. Nothing was ever brought to my attention about this and I did not feel there was anything wrong with the vehicle regarding those items as the vehicle drove just fine with the exception of the overheating issue. I further told him; just by a quick glance of charges for the work performed that I was not told about, the total price was over $1400.00. He asked me to hang on just a minute why he went and checked on something. He walked away to a back room and came back about a minute later. He told me the best he could do is knock off the $129.00 for the 02 sensor and offer me a free oil change for the future. I told him that does not make up for the over $1400.00 of services I was charged for the business did without approval and authorization. He told me it didn't matter because it's still the same price I agreed to pay over the phone and Terry told him, when he called me regarding the oil pan he tried to explain everything to me about the vehicle's suspension but I "cut him off" and was unable to explain the suspension and steering issue to me. Not true. The person I spoke to, "Terry" I guess it was, never mentioned anything or tried to mention anything about suspension work or steering work on the vehicle. I told Brian of the conversation I had with who he said was Terry. I told him he simply called be regarding the oil pan issue. I even had to call him back two minutes later. I asked Brian, if Terry felt he didn't have the opportunity to tell me about the suspension/steering work the first time, why didn't he mention it the second time when I called. Tim from corporate called me the next day. Listened to my issue and told me he would like to get the district manager on board with this. Jeff from brake masters called me today. Very nice guy. He agreed to refund $700.00 of the $1400.00. I can live with that. Shady tho! read more
