I called them to get a price and gave me a better price than anyone with a lifetime pad warranty included. They had everything ready when I got here got my car in immediately they showed me the pads that are worn down and had me in and out of this place faster than I've ever been to a brake place. If I could give this place a big fat ZERO -- I would. Totally dishonest mechanics. I went in for a realignment and they came back and told me my front left and right control arms were cracked and that all my struts needed to be replaced. A total bill of $1500. When he told me this, I told him I was going to get a second opinion, and then he started getting upset with me about it by copping a completely unprofessional attitude. I am totally glad I didn't let this liar get the best of me. I took it to a reputable auto shop and they told me that nothing was wrong with my struts or my control arms. He propped it up on the lift, and showed me himself, and nothing at all was cracked, or wrong. All that I needed was an alignment and it would cost $45 at his shop. $1455 total difference. It's absolutely pathetic that anyone would lie to make a profit. Whatever you do, STAY AWAY from here, unless you want to be lied to and pay out the door for an unnecessary repair. read more

Warning I had 2 of my vehicles serviced here . I noticed on both invoices they wrote my license plate number down, but changed it by one number so they could not look it up if I came in for service without the invoice . I went to this place because it was close to my work, and because of the overwhelmingly positive Yelp reviews. (And because my dealership service dept Yelp reviews were abysmal.) My brakes were in REALLY bad shape, the pads were pretty much gone and I was down to metal on metal on the things. I put off gettin em fixed because it's really friggin hard for me to get off of work. I was fearful it was going to cost a fortune. They seem like pretty straight shooters over there, it was only $230 for the entire service. I feel like they probably had plenty of wiggle room to rip me off or mark up the shit out of it, and they (most likely) didn't. Because that sounds about what it should cost. I was told from Gary of Van Nuys Brake Masters that I would be getting Original Equipment BMW parts for my brakes and rotors. I paid good money and made sure that I would receive Original Equipment BMW brakes and rotors. After I paid and drove off the shop my cars performance was diminished and would make noise when applying the brakes. Long story short I found out that he user Centric parts on my car and lied to me and cheated me out of what I paid for. This place is the best! I had a bad caliper on my truck and I went on yelp and found brake masters. As soon as a walked in I knew I was on the right place every one so friendly. Jeremy helped me, as I was explaining and showing him what was bad with my caliper and if he was able to rebuild it for me he was upfront with me and made a few calls and explained to me why was it better to just buy a new caliper. He called a few places and found the nearest Autozone that had the right caliper I needed! So I went ahead and purchased the caliper and installed it my self. As I thought I had perged all lines but the brakes still weren't feeling good as they needed to be so I decided to bring the truck to them and Bam! They took care of it for me for a GREAT price and super fast! I will highly recommend this guys to my friends and family. You guys Rock!!! read more

Worst place ever !!! Got my breaks done early this year and have gone back 4 times to get them changed again I truly believe they only changed them one time. Went back a 5th time they took my car I waited this time to make sure they would change my breaks they saw I wasn't leaving so they came up to me and said my warranty was up and had to pay !!! $90 life time warranty is crap and they either don't know what they are doing or they don't change your breaks at all. I came here because the place avg. 4 star reviews. My experience was unfortunately worthy of 1 star due to poor service. I left there feeling completely ripped off. Paid for wheel alignment that was apparently incomplete... right rear toe measurement was -.03 in the red all other readings were in the blue. When I questioned it, I was told it was that it was probably because the strut was going out which is total BS! I pulled up the wheel alignment specs online and asked the manager to explain why the numbers were so off in comparison to his and he became quite annoyed, so I left. Ended up taking my car to Meinke and they corrected it, all measurements in the green. Granted it costed me an extra $60, but my alignment is good! read more

So i came home for the holidays and needed an oil change. Typically I would go to Hamer Toyota since that is the dealers spot, but for those who are probably trying to figure out where to get oil changes, you can go typically anywhere. Of course, I still searched for a spot because I live on sherman way, and I rather not drive the 12 miles round trip to get my oil. I came in at 8:15 am and it was cold, like my windows still had a bit of ice them, first customer in for the day, and they quickly approached me, a sign of difference in comparison to reviews I read from just google mapping the place. Next, the mechanic Juan who dealt with me asked my oil grade, and explained to me the need cost adjustment. ON THE SIGN, it says $20 + tax for oil change and cabin filter, for a toyota camry that uses a different oil grade, it costed $28 +tax, so make sure you know what you are coming in for. Thankfully, he popped my car, pointed out the manufacture's wrote the oil grade on the oil cap, and explained to me about that the sign did say what the prices were. Overall I got out of there at 8:45 after signing the papers. I am pretty satisfied on it, though i didnt get a cabin filter change as wanted and it did cost me a little bit more, but for SMALL costing car maintenance I would go here again. Note:Not too sure about how the other people who reviewed this before on google maps felt, but all of them were about complaints on large cost repairs. read more

My alignment was off... The damn car was drifting. I assumed I needed front and back alignment but the computer called for a front alignment only. Saved me $10 on an already great deal. The oil change was $20 with a coupon. Was in and out in under an hour- efficient if you ask me. I sat and watched my car part of the time- the shop is very open and viewable. They have chairs inside and out. A TV too. The supervisor was kind and friendly. I hate taking my car in for servicing but this was convenient! They are open till 6pm read more

do not bring your car here. this is scam!!! they unscrew my shock mount so car can create a noise while driving. then i comeback they recommended me to replace shock mount. i bought my car to dealer. dealer tells me problem solve with tightening screw on shock mount. that's it they will create a problem to your car so you fix with them. they will tell you that they will give you a good price. read more

I honestly give this place 0 stars. I was told to go here by my parents which was a huge MISTAKE! I went in to get my front and back brakes replaced, the manager said I needed all this other stuff. Like an idiot I agreed to it. Ended up paying 1,200$ if not more. After they were done my car screeches when I brake... I've been back 4 times and still the same problem! I also know of a spot that i used to to on Zelzah ave. called brake masters and it closed down as the owner was draining out the oil halfway and filling with new oil, mixing them. Very courteous staff; I feel like I get red carpet treatment whenever I come here. Once upon a time, a long time ago, I came here to get my brakes fixed. Prices were decent, service was quick, I was satisfied, and I didn't have any problems thereafter. But... that's not why I keep coming back. That same day, I also got my oil changed. Now, unless a car requires super special oil that one has to drive to Beverly Hills for, or unless you own your own shop, I'm not sure why anyone would go anywhere else, or let alone, why anyone in their right mind would insist on doing it themselves if they knew that Brake Masters not only did an oil change, but also rotated your tires for $25 (base price including labor; more if you need higher grade; some places charge $15-20 for tire rotation alone!!) Not only that, but without pressuring me into buying, if they come across anything during their service, they usually let me know what other problems I have or might need fix soon (I tried shopping around for air filters they suggested I change and the price they offered me was very good compared to others). I feel like I'm stealing service whenever I come--getting my car basics here feels something like a guilty pleasure. Side note: I think this Brake Masters is independently owned and a lot of the complimentary services they offer here aren't offered at other locations. I made that mistake once, went to a different location, and ended up paying $50 at a different location because I asked for a tire rotation thinking it was complimentary. I am in a very tight financial situation and didn't want to think about having another expense on my car. I won't lie, this time around, I felt the service was different. The manager (different from last visit) was a bit busy when I arrived. He had a lady in front of him, plus phones were all ringing off the hook. But honestly, I felt like I was being hustled. Like I said, it was a different guy, There was no acknowledgement, no greeting, His customer service skills kinda sucked.. I had asked for some water and he just walked away. He quoted me about $40 to begin with. Then he tells me, I need New windshield wipers, brake fluid, and an air filter. I was here 12 days ago, had all 4 brakes done, why wasn't the brake fluid done as well? That's like going to a carwash and they wash your car, but don't vacuum it. So nowww, it went from about $40 to about $150. I was also told it would take an estimated 25 minutes.. Been here almost an hour now.. I bought the windshield wipers but they weren't installed. I've needed to do an alignment on our company van for quite some time now and it seems like im always too busy to get it done. However, today was different, business was slow so I decided to take the van to Brake Masters. Upon arrival I expected there to be no problems since a freind uses this place to get their brakes done and I was told they are reasonasblly priced (but price today was not the issue). I specifically asked for a wheel alignmment and for the two front shocks to be replaced and we agreed on a quick inspection and if there was any other work that needed to be done, they would call me and let me know and I could then make a decision as to having additional work done or not. (its what I expected but boy was I wrong!) So, I get no call from brakemasters and I'm assuming everything else was fine. Everything was, except for the fact that I was charged for two rear struts that they claim were bad. What happened to the courtesy call??? The servicemans response was --get this- "I thought we did call you!!" yeah ok Bottomline, I was not notified and the work was done without my permission. Sure we a came to a compromise about the payment but it should not have been done in the first place. Sure, I might have given the ok had I gotten the call, just don't assume because that equates to bad business! read more
