I will preface this to say that Joey (manager?) is the only reason we are still customers of this location. I have referred many people to this location based on the service Joey offers. His service is excellent, reliable, and fair. He doesn't try to up sell on things that aren't essential like other car repair (or even other Brakes Plus locations) do. When we have had issues with our family vehicles over the past 3-4 years, Joey always treated us like family and took care of us. We have brought our vehicles here for multiple oil changes, tune ups, and emergency repairs at this location. When Joey had stepped away from this location for a few months in 2025, the service and care was not the same. So many up sales on things that weren't needed. Luckily he came back and the service is better. And all at a reasonable price. read more

Subject: Unacceptable service and "parts-cannon" diagnostics I am beyond disappointed with the service at this Brakes Plus location on Hunt Hwy. I originally brought my vehicle in because the A/C was intermittently blowing hot air. They diagnosed it as a leaking hose and charged me $612.66 for the replacement, assuring me this would resolve the issue. It didn't. Over the last month, I have had to return to this shop three separate times for the exact same problem. After all that time and money wasted, they are now telling me it will cost an additional $1,200 to actually fix the issue. It is clear that the initial $600 repair was a misdiagnosis on their part. Instead of standing by their work or offering a fair resolution for the failed repair, they are simply asking for more money. I trusted this shop to fix the problem the first time; instead, I'm out $600 with a vehicle that still has no A/C. I just don't like surprises. before the install, the tech came out and said that he made a mistake in his qupte and that is was goin to cost another $70.00 on top of the original quote. Since I was already there I just ate the extra cost and had them do the work. It was 4 hours from the time that my appointment was until the time I drove away. If you are going to utilize this business for your automotive needs, please make sure you take pictures of your vehicle upon drop off! I brought in my classic car for brake work with all four hubcaps in place that I have owned for 48 years. When I came to pick up the car one of the hubcaps was missing. They agreed at that time to provide security footage to show that allegedly the hubcap was missing when dropped off of which it was not. You guessed it, they never provided proof that they did not lose the hubcap! So now I have to find and pay for a replacement which are hard to find in same condition as when I dropped off the car. Thus, I will no longer be returning with any of my cars since I can no longer trust them! Took my Honda Accord in for some work to be done 2 weeks ago. Had called ahead to get some prices on work that they do. Spoke with Josh and he took his time going over pricing and what they can do for me. When I got there I was greeted by Joey, told him all the work I would like to get done he said that they would take care of all of it. I had an excellent experience at this Brakes Plus location. I went in because my brakes were squeaking and had not been replaced in 6 years. I was greeted by the friendly manager, Joey Rodriguez, who told me they would take a look. Joey was honest with me and said my brakes were at 20% and did not need to be replaced! They even let me go in the shop and see the brake pads for myself. I wasn't even charged an inspection fee. I left without paying a dime, and feeling very grateful for their honesty. I do not agree with "cancel culture" but I do believe in warning consumers when it can impact their lives financially. I was offered a free tire rotation at Brakes Plus(of Ironwood)while getting my oil changed. My car is a staggered fitment so there are larger tires on the back and smaller on the front. They proceeded to "rotate" my tires putting my large tires on the front and small on the back. Less than 4000 miles later, I completely shredded one of the tires and the remaining 3 tires were so damaged that the steel belts were coming out of the rubber. I was forced to replace each tire and get an allignment to ensure my car wasn't damaged any further. The response I received from the manager was that since the free tire rotation wasn't on the original receipt, the damage caused couldn't have possibly been done by brakes plus and that that kind of tire damage couldn't possibly be caused by having the tires rotated incorrectly. read more

Went in for an oil change- left with a check engine light on, specifically asked for all fluids to be check. When check engine light came on, vehicle was taken back to be read. Was told my transmission was a closed loop system with no way to check I popped the hood and immediately found the transmission dipstick, bone dry. Added fluids myself, no more issues. As a nurse, I would hope that this company has more compassion and actual follow through with its clients- I would absolutely NOT recommend to any family, friends and coworkers. Ever. read more

The brakes on my daughters car went out in the parking lot of McDonalds which it shares with Big O tires. Seeing as it was already at Big O I went and got a quote to get things fixed. The master cylinder and power booster were bad and they said it was going to cost me $1500. The parts were $500 and labor was a $1000, thats a rip off. I e-braked her car across the street to Brakes Plus to see if they could do better. I did not tell them how much Big O wanted to charge me. They called me about an hour and half later with their quote, $720.16 out the door. That is replacing the master cylinder and the power booster. Same diagnosis but half the price. Needless to say Brakes Plus got my business. They were professional and fair and they didnt try to bleed my pocket book. My experience with Brakes Plus was nothing short of fantastic. read more

I had motor mounts replaced was offered brand or after market I took the after market because of price was told there would be some vibration since not brand that was fine after replaced the vibrating was so bad when I was idling at a light or drive-through would have to put my vehicle in park or shut it off took it back and one of the employees told me the mounts were crap! left vehicle there later got a call and was told that's just how it is. I asked for brand price was told back log of parts so I cannot switch. If I use them again it will be for brakes only. read more

I sent my parents here due to the fact that it's very close to the house but we will never be doing business with breaks plus EVER again. They went in for an alignment and oil change. due to the lower control arms being bad they weren't able do the alignment. Which I appreciate them being honest and not making me spend the extra money. However after we were quoted we ended up only doing the oil change. When my mom picked up the car she noticed there was a strange sound when she was driving. We went back and Josh said that because they put it on the lift the motor mounts shifted and that's where the sounds was coming from. We said ok and brought the car home. The car sat in the garage for two days and we noticed it was leaking oil (this car has never leaked in our garage. My dad took it back because I had to be at work and they told my dad the leak wasn't coming from anywhere that they worked on. While I appreciate that they fit me in quickly (same day) and got me out quickly (less than an hour) I feel it necessary to state the obvious- mechanics everywhere are overcharging for their services period. I was charged for an hour and a half for labor. Everyone I called quoted the same amount of time. Funny enough I watched a few YouTube videos of guys who did the same service on different vehicles in just a few minutes! I wanted to do it myself but just do not have enough experience to take the chance (since I need brakes!!!). That said the guys were professional and I don't have to worry about it anymore. The only time I will think about it is every month when I make my credit card payment knowing that the interest is making it even more expensive. At the end of the day I can't help but to feel a little ripped off to be honest- by all mechanics today. Two star deduction for those two reasons. read more
