I had an amazing meal here. The food here truly rocks. Let's start with dessert. Sorrel panna cotta with fresh raspberries on top. Unlike ANYTHING I have ever tasted. Lemony sweet, with refreshing topped raspberries to bring you back to your senses. Sticky toffee pudding was a contrast to the fresh panna cotta. It was so scrumptious and rich. It's like the British pudding, essentially like a cake/muffin with a delicious sauce. The main meal was mushroom risotto with asparagus. I'm not a big risotto person but there were only 2 vegetarian options on the menu for the entrees so I needed to pick something! It was nice and buttery, but could have used more asparagus in my opinion for variety of textures. The other option for vegetarian entrée was a polenta! It was decent but this place could definitely do better vegetarian entrees! I have full faith on that. Appetizers are delightful - we had the crispy cauliflower with a chutney that was surely inspired by some tangy Indian tastes. The other dish for appetizers was patatas bravas - delightful. The menu is not overwhelming, it's seasonable and there will be something you can enjoy. Parking and seating is super limited so make sure you arrive on a slow day, arrive early, or are prepared to wait. Tip is also included. Good for special occasions. The Bramble House is a little gem on Vashon Island. This little restaurant is great with both indoor and outdoor seating seating options, comfortable ambience, wonderful staff, and decent entree options. Parking is limited and you may potentially have to park in the grass (mud if it is precipitating). Staff is friendly, patient, and kind. There was never a time when I felt neglected by the host or the waiter. The prices are a bit on the expensive side so expect to pay a pretty penny when ordering. All staff is still expected to wear face masks to protect and prevent its customers from COVID spread. The food quality is fantastic. Home made and delicious! 4 star review because their menu is limited with only a few options: about two appetizers, five main entrées, and six sides. They do have a plethora or local wines and other drinks being offered. Overall, minus the restricted menu options my girlfriend and I loved this place and will be back next time we are on Vashon Island. read more

And not to sound like a snobby foodie from Seattle but I do eat at the highest end spots around Seattle and not just comparing Bramble House to other spots on Vashon. All courses were top notch it was honestly hard to say what our favorites were. Wine and service were amazing and our table outside was perfect for the weather and a family that tries to keep on the conservative side of eating indoors. By far the best meal I have had in a long time! The Black Truffle Garlic focaccia was so good (note: I am not afraid of oil or butter). The Mixed Greens were simply wonderful. How can simple mixed greens taste so good? The Crisp Polenta with Mushroom Ragu was perfect and went so well with the Onion Crusted Short Rib with beans and kale. We also enjoyed a side of Grilled Broccolini and Roasted Mushrooms. And if that wasn't enough food we finished with the Spiced Panna Cotta and Coconut Tart. Both were very good, but the Panna Cotta was the star. I enjoyed the dessert with a decaf french press that was as good as any regular coffee I have had when out to eat. On top of the incredible food, the owner is a cool woman who noticed we were enjoying art by local Vashon artist Art Hansen, so she brought us upstairs to see more of his work. Going to Bramble House is like if your kid cooks you dinner. It's sweet that they tried, but you wish you had just ordered takeout. I'm guessing these folks just underestimated what it takes to open a restaurant. It's a shame - Vashon needs a spot like what Bramble House claims to be. But awkward decor, comically slow service, and subpar food add up to make it a place that you should go out of your way to avoid. We waited over an hour for our starters. Oh and we watched them get delivered to another table, sit there for a while, get picked up, and then brought to ours. Subsequent courses were also about 30 minutes apart. There wasn't a single standout dish on the menu, and several were legitimately bad. It's not worth digging into the details, but there were serious culinary sins that included over cooking, bad flavor combinations, and over salting. Do yourself a favor and go to Ruby Brink instead. read more

My family and I weren't very impressed with their food -- The menu was limited, way overpriced & the flavors were so-so (Just to give you an idea of the prices: Chicken entree = $34, plain undercooked fettuccine tossed in butter & cheese for a child = $20). I'm guessing that's why they label themselves as a non-tipping establishment. Yelp says this restaurant is good for kids, but their menu isn't kid-friendly. Bramble House has a very refined vibe and is definitely for people who appreciate etiquette and class. This is someplace I could imagine taking my in-laws for a meal if I was trying to impress them, but I would probably not visit on my own. At Bramble House, you are paying for the service and the ambience, not necessarily the food. The service is like that of a fine dining restaurant -- they pour your tea for you, fold and replace your napkin if you visit the restroom, and are extremely polite. I payed 25$ for the Bramble Scramble; which is 2 eggs, 3 pieces of bacon, some roasted potatoes, and half of a waffle. Even with gratuity included, I still consider it a high price for the portion size and type of food I ordered. If you find yourself at Bramble House, I would recommend ordering something you couldn't get anywhere else -- it will feel more worth it! read more

The Bramble house outstanding food! Everything we got was delicious! I went to the happy hour (outside seating with heaters ) it was very good ! They have snacks (small portions of great food) and we got one of each. I have also gone there to get take- out and it was very good:) Especially the desert! I cannot say how much I was suprised at just how good this food was, it was incredible. We live in West Seattle but rented a house on Vashon for a week (after being home since last March) so we were looking for some good places to eat while we were there. Bramble House was referred to us from multiple sources and I have to say, none of them were wrong. This restaurant is a true treasure. There were four of us and we each ordered a different entree (risotto, jerk chicken, boulegnese and my favorite the short ribs), and every single one of these dishes were sublime, honestly, there are just no words to describe how good they were. During the pandemic we have ordered food from many restaurants in the Seattle area and they were all good....but this food was like having a caterer in the house making a dinner just for us. Every dish, including the salads, were well thought out and had incredible, fresh flavor. The desserts were mind-blowing! I just cannot come up with words for just how stunning the meal was. We were planning our first visit to Vashon Island and had done some research on where to go for dinner. Most websites ranked "Bramble House" very high on the list. So this was the only location we knew we must visit while we were on the island. We made reservations a few days in advance. Upon arrival, the cute older house used for the restaurant is easy to find. It is at the end of town and has a sign in the front lawn with bulb lights around it. Parking is found on the side of the building. You walk through a pink front door and are greeted by the staff and a modern contemporary interior. The tables are spaced a good distance apart. There are two options (indoor or outdoor dining). Outdoor dining takes place in a tent located behind the house. For our dinner we chose indoor dining. The menu is limited but don't let that fool you. The items that are offered are high quality with great taste. We ordered: 1. Local Greens Salad, cucumber, snap peas & radish, red wine vinaigrette 2. Crispy Half Chicken, spruce tip marinade, fennel mash, parsley-spring onion salad 3. Dark Chocolate Mousse, salted caramel, candied peanuts The local greens salad was full of vegetables that tasted very fresh. The amount of cucumber, snap peas, and radish was great. The only feedback for this item was that the dressing became a little too strong after a while. This may be fine for some, while others may find the sourness a little overpowering toward the end of the dish. Now, on to easily the best part of the dinner. The crispy chicken dish alone is worth the full 5 stars. The chicken was cooked perfectly, allowing the meat to maintain enough juice and tenderness while also not making mess. The fennel mash was the highlight of this item. Mix some of the chicken stock with the mash and the flavors mix so well together. For dessert, the chocolate mousse was very good. The caramel and candied peanuts compliment the dark chocolate, but be aware, this is a rich dessert. It is awesome, just very rich. Overall the atmosphere is relaxing and the staff was friendly but the combination of flavors and skill used to prepare the main course shows why this restaurant has earned its top status. read more

We stopped by Bramble House after hearing rave reviews that it's the best restaurant on the island. We were a little confused at first to find Lia's Chicken Shack, but learned very quickly this pop-up theme for COVID would bring a charming, casual comfort food dinner that wouldn't disappoint. Lia's is Bramble House's way of doing minimum-contact dine-in service while maintaining highest of quality cuisine. This soul food pop up had several different styles of friend chicken and sides. Drinks were basic, but great. Our server delivered my girlfriend a recommendation for a cider that proved not-too-sweet yet crisp in flavor (a tough combination to nail, indeed)! Appetizers were truffle-infused deviled eggs and a biscuit. They were a great contrast to start the meal with earthy tones of the eggs and a rich and hearty beef fat biscuit. After a couple appetizers that left our mouths for more, our server delivered the chicken karaage with heirloom tomatoes. Served with an asian sauce akin to a better sweet and sour, these chicken thighs melted in our mouths. Tomatoes were fresh and local, juicy and delicious. Finally we moved onto the parmesan half chicken. When it was delivered I feared we had ordered chicken overload; however the half chicken proved distinguished enough from the karaage that they meals paired outstandingly. Served over kale and potato, the chicken parmesan was more refined - a classic dish that packed a much more delightful punch of flavor than a standard chicken parmesan. We had to try the dessert after a great main. We split the cobbler, which was served hot and moist with caramel ice cream melted over the top to keep the mouth from getting too dry while adding just a bit of richness. The perfect end to a surprise perfect meal. One last comment - this interestingly is a "no tip restaurant". Employees own share and get paid a percentage of the sales. Not necessarily a relevant point, but certainly adds an interesting touch. 5 stars across the board. Great meal, a must-try when visiting Vashon. read more

Immaculate presentation, terrific service and delicious flavors combine to make Bramble House the highlight of any visit to Vashon. We tried a variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts and every dish was a delight. Egg Yolk Raviolo was a highlight, sweet corn soup was delicious, duck and scallops were not to be missed. Dessert of sticky toffee pudding was good enough that I ordered a second helping and proceeded to clean the plate. Again. Strongly recommend that you pace your visit to Vashon (or trip downtown if you're a local) to ensure you come to Bramble hungry so you'll leave delighted. The prettiest spot!! Came here for my mom's birthday during our weekend trip. We had the best time. Love the pink door! And beautiful tea sets! It's a house with a pink door and very modern furniture. Inside is way fancier than you'd think. We spent a good few minutes taking pictures of that bright pink door before going in, I think we scared them a little! Came here for lunch/brunch on Saturday. it was empty! No complaints there but should be full! Menu is short and sweet. And it's pretty pricey for brunch! Most entrees average around $18-$22. But gratuity is already included in the prices. We had tea and coffee in their most beautiful tea cups/sets. In love for sure! Our server even let us chose our own cups. For food: we shared a few things. My favorite ~ beet salad! This fits right in with my Italian family diet. It has all things fun and pretty! Beautiful beets, melons and even tazitiki sauce. I want to go back just for this dish! French toast: massive! That grilled/burnt peach on top was totally delish! Scrambled gg whites~ probably the most underwhelming dish. It was pretty, light and all but didn't think it was worth the $22 price tag. So far I've only had brunch. The menu was really limited, like 5 choices. They've done a nice job on the inside, but it's a little too hipstery for Vashon with young, good looking staff that would be more suited to Capitol Hill. The food was okay but not enough of it, and not memorable. When you mention this place to locals the re-action is almost always the same. A frown followed by "they really don't give you much food for the cost." I can see from other reviews that they're getting a lot of people coming from off island to see the Top Chef star, but that's not something we care about on Vashon. We want consistently good food at a good price with decent quantity. If they're going to stay here indefinitely they're going to have to adapt to the Island, not try to adapt the Islanders to their style. read more

The food is amazing! The dishes are diverse enough to cover every taste and mine tasted great. Of course, enjoyable food is key, but the other parts of a dining experience are equally important. The restaurant itself has a warm and comfortable feel. The staff is friendly in a real way, not simply polite, they are truly welcoming. Pricing is equal to Seattle pricing. The one down side I found was I had to wait a tick longer than I expected to get my food. I whole heartedly would recommend this restaurant. read more

We have been here a few times now, twice for dinner and once for brunch. As locals, we love having this restaurant on the island for more of a fine dining experience- without having to head to the city. We've done (and love!) the Seattle restaurant scene and this place is on par with some of the nicest restaurants we've been to in town-but with a vibe all its own (that I think really has a place here on the Island). The space and menu are sophisticated and cozy with some really creative and DELICIOUS options. The duck breast is delicious- perfectly seasoned and prepared on a bed of creamed leeks. I thought the portion sizes are perfect- you can eat an appetizer, entree, and dessert and leave pleasantly full, not over-stuffed and groaning. The desserts are delightful- our table ended up ordering one of each because we had to try them all- a chocolate mousse with passion fruit caramel, a panna cotta, and a citrus meringue. Chef Lia brought out an extra mousse for our table, too, as it was one of our party members birthday (which was a nice touch). Wine list is thoughtful and tasty. Gratuity is included (which is a newer restaurant trend for this area but we like it). Brunch is a classy yet casual affair with some unexpected choices on the menu - I had a wild mushroom polenta that had some really awesome flavors and textures. Washed it down with a mimosa and a delicious French press (their china serving sets are just gorgeous). The converted house is just fabulous (we actually looked at the place when it was on the market for sale), and the vision and attention to detail has really transformed it into a space to remember. Date night at the Bramble House was perfect! We moved to Vashon 6 months ago and hadn't realized there was a fine dining option available. So so happy we found it and that it was as good as any place in the city! We started with a nice bottle of wine. They had a nice selection that was very reasonably priced. We then had the creamiest Brussel Sprout soup that really set the tone for a delicious meal! We then had the Scallops and Trout which were cooked to perfection and balanced well with other flavors and textures. We ended with the Orange blossom-cardamom panna cotta that was delish! Chef Lia visited our table and we were able to learn how she had made her industrial kitchen fit in the foot print of the original kitchen of the home. We also love that it's Chef owned!! The challenging part of the review is making sure the words correctly describe the deliciousness that had ensued throughout the whole dining experience. Without a doubt, one of the loveliest experiences our tastebuds have experienced in quite sometime-and I'm sure that says a lot since Seattle (proper) is a food lovers' paradise. If on the island, don't deliberate; make the reservation. I can obviously only comment on what we ordered so here goes... 1.) BEET SALAD (yes please-can I have another) 2.) STEAMED CLAMS (to die for-but please don't) 3.) OSSO BUCCO (say whaaaaat-horrible decision that we decided to share the entree) 4.) I cannot brag enough on this place! The food is exquisite, the service is AMAZING, and it's a whole vibe! It's warm, and inviting. They offered lap quilts for customers sitting outside and had stand up heaters for the tables outside as well. They go above and beyond and it shows! The food is fresh and it is delicious. We went there for an anniversary and the food was perfection, the wine list eclectic and fabulous and the charming wait staff made the evening special. Do listen to your server's recommendations on wine pairings! Ours was right on the money. It is worth a trip on the ferry to eat at Bramble House! Don't miss the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. It appears that the rest of the menu rotates to highlight fresh, seasonal ingredients, but if you go there in April, have the pea shoot salad with radishes, the nettle soup, the cauliflower with mint sauce and the crispy polenta with mushroom ragu. This place is nothing short of outstanding. I've made a few trips to Vashon just for the restaurant. The staff is friendly, the ambiance is cozy, and the food is to die for. Seriously, it's special. The duck the short rib, the egg yolk raviolo, etc... they're all excellent. And sweet Jesus the toffee pudding. It's a small restaurant with a small kitchen. Don't come here and expect to be in and out. Show up and have a drink, sit back, relax, and enjoy your meal. We came out to Bramble House for a friend's birthday dinner. This restaurant was AMAZING! Drinks were delicious and so was the food. We had the chopped salad, egg yolk ravioli and the carrot soup for starters. The salads were very fresh and crisp. The ravioli and soup were delicious. For entrees, we had the bolognese, the duck and the rockfish. All were fresh and flavorful. By far one of the best meals I have had in a while! Bramble house is immaculate. There is a no tip policy, but the recommendations and service we received was outstanding. Our entrees were delicious - the braised short rib was perfectly seasoned and fell apart in the best way, and the rockfish in brown butter sauce was very well tempered with fingerling potatoes and kale. We live in Seattle so we love to explore new cuisines, and this is certainly a spot we look forward to coming to again! Top notch! Stayed for a weekend at The Lodges next door and heard about Bramble House but didn't make reservations due to not knowing exactly when we would arrive. Walked over on a Friday night and they were so kind to serve us near closing time. Waiter was super friendly...but THE FOOD! You can tell Leah has a passion. Fresh food & quality ingredients. I don't think there's anything on the menu that you could go wrong with. Boyfriend had short ribs (said they were so good he would have paid double) I got fettuccine, yum!
